WINEDEBUG=+loaddll,warn+all wine FL.exe
FL Studio 7 is professional software for creating music. It works *almost*
perfectly but because of this bug it isn't actually usable: most of its WAV
files do not work and this makes the program useless!
As I have said FL Studio make use of WAV files. Some WAV files are in standard
PCM uncompressed audio format and they plays fine. Others use non-standard WAV
format and fails to play at all. Because of that a lot of effects and sounds
cannot be used.
If I run the program with WINEDEBUG=+loaddll,warn+all I get the following
output when I try to play a "non-standard" WAV file: (see attachment). When I
play standard PCM-encoded WAV file there is no such output. I think this output
gives some useful clues but unfortunately I have almost no knowledge about
Widnows sound API so I cannot fix this myself.
Feel free to ask any additional questions. The program has a demo and it is
almost fully functional (see the URL field).
How to reproduce (instruction by Travis Forghani, with minor changes and
comments for better readability):
1) Click on "Packs" to expand it. Then click on "Basses" to expand it. Next,
click on the "BASS_EfEm_C2"; when you click on the BASS_EfEm_C2 effect, the
sound that is supposed to be created is created. This works because
"BASS_EfEm_C2" is standard PCM encoded WAV file.
2) Click on "RealDrumkits" to expand it. Next, click on "RD_Crash". When you
click on the "RD_Crash" effect, the sound that is supposed to be created is not
created and there is no output via the speakers. This doesn't work because
"RD_Crash" is non-standard WAV. But on clean Windows this works out-of-the-box.

Howdy folks,
I have install FL Studio 20 in a 64-bit wineprefix.

$ wine64 .wine/drive_c/Program\ Files\ \(x86\)/Image-Line/FL\ Studio\
20/FL64.exe
... I receive the following diagnostics which repeats the last line every 60
seconds, forever:

YET!
When I run:
$ wine64 [path-to-FL64.exe] 2>&1 | tee run.log
... the program runs as expected with no errors or hang.
Weird, huh?
Two facts to consider, unfortunately: 1) FL Studio 19 worked flawlessly under
wine-staging-3.7, and I don't remember if FL Studio 19 or 20 worked under
wine-staging-3.8, but one of them DIDN'T.
Any help would be appreciated.

Terminal output (with notes)
When you attempt to minimize FL Studio, instead of minimizing, a small label
separate from the main window appears instead. If the main FL Studio window is
maximized when you attempt to minimize it, it doesn't change size, but if it's
not maximized the window is resized to a small square.
The contents of the main window after attempting to minimize is an after image
of what was rendered before minimizing, apart from a small section of the top
left corner of the application (which is just a after image of the minimize
button). If you change the size of the window in this state it shows a
trailing/ghost effect (think IE6 effect) of whatever is behind the window, e.g.
the desktop background.
I set the severity to minor because it makes minimizing the window
inconvenient, however there is a simple workaround: either use the keyboard
shortcut for minimizing on the small label window, or click on the taskbar
button/dock icon for FL Studio several times as necessary. FL Studio then
properly minimizes.
I've tested on elementary OS (Pantheon) and Fedora (GNOME 3) with Wine 3.4 and
it happens on both.
On Windows, when minimizing under normal usage you don't see this label,
however if you rapidly minimize and restore FL Studio you can very briefly see
it. With this in mind it might be that the label itself is normal behavior but
it's supposed to immediately disappear or minimize.
I attached the terminal log (with some notes). I'll attach some footage soon.

--- Comment #11 from William <wjb(a)williamjbowman.com> ---
I'd like this reopened if possible. The bug still affects at least Wine 6.0,
macOS and Linux, and can be reproduced with a fork of the original game used
here: https://conqueronline.net/
The are some other issues that prevent the Launcher from installing patches
properly, which I'm still trying to debug, so the steps to reproduce are
different:
1. Install the game.
2. Manually install the patches. Running the following, or similar, fish script
from the install directly will manually install all the patches:
```
for i in 1014 1015 1016 1017 1018_2 1019 1020 1021 1022 1023 1024 1025 1026
1027 1028 1029 1030 1031 1032 1033 1034 1035 1036 1037 1038 1039 1040 1041 1042
1043 1044
curl -k -o /tmp/$i.7z "https://download.conqueronline.net/patches/$i.7z"; yes
Y | 7z x /tmp/$i.7z
end
```
3. Run the game manually without launcher: `wine Conquer blacknull`
I'm currently rebuilding a clean prefix with the latest wine, but I know Lutris
custom wine 6.4 is also affected, so I suspect latest wine is also affected.

The game opens and crashes immediately.
Not releated, but "The suffering" also crashes on start, I'll open a new bug
report for that too.
