Test OS was Puppy Linux Racy 5.5. Google SketchUp 7 and 8 (free version) have for a long time failed to properly export drawings as 2D graphics. Files produced are either transparent blank, or entirely black images. Files affected are .png, .bmp, and .jpg. exports. Wine 1.5.4 seems to have resolved this issue. (see https://sites.google.com/site/sketchupsage/problems/linux -- list of wine version issues resolved near bottom of page). I have successfully output SketchUp 2D graphic files with that version. However an upgrade to current Wine Stable 1.6.2 broke this capability again for me, and a further test of 1.7.30 also showed the same 2D graphic export problem. After removing 1.7.30, and re-installing 1.5.4, the capability to save drawings as 2D graphics from Google 7 & 8 returned. 2D graphic export is a critical function of the free version of Google Sketchup 7 and 8 -- it basically allows the production of plans, drawing, and image files from SketchUp. It is essential functionality. Without it, files can only be produced via an external screen capture program at low resolution. These drop-down lists to specify the installation mode appear occasionally and only for a fraction of a second. I've worked out this is a Wine issue and there is an easier way to test it (as the patch above would need you to have the game installed etc...) # Grab an old 16-bit version of zip.exe (or anything that takes stdin using the '<' symbol) wget ftp://retronn.de/mirrors/garbo/pc/goldies/zip20x.zip unzip zip20x.zip zip.exe # Run it wine cmd /c 'zip -@ x.zip < zip.exe' # Witness what you will see in the screenshot I have attached. When the file steam_api.dll is being analyzed by PiD, the application seems to come into an infinite loop while using 100% CPU. As a result, scanning this particular file never finishes. The program interface is still responding so it's not hung completely. Nothing relevant in the terminal. To reproduce: Unrar and start Protection_ID.eXe, click the <Scan> button, <Single File> and browse for an existing steam_api.dll (majority of Steam games have one). Status shows "Steam Scan..." but scanning is never completed. The problem was introduced by https://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git/commit/08bf605acb4d319e016a7eafe0c67… The bug doesn't occur with the previous commit. The windows version is available from https://light.co/lumen/windows Besides the Lumen (Beta) software, the installer installs Qt Licensed Software Redistributables and Visual Studio C++ Runtime Redistributables. In order to get the latter to install, I followed a suggestion to use the Windows XP version in winecfg for the installer. This seems to do the trick with the installation. In theory the crash actually breaks device notification, but I'm not sure what devices Thunderbird is trying to be notified of, or if Wine actually supports hotplugging them. The only visible symptom is: 01a0:err:virtual:virtual_setup_exception stack overflow 560 bytes in thread 01a0 addr 0x7f87f3cd7c73 stack 0x19a70dd0 (0x19a70000-0x19a71000-0x1a270000) This thread is then terminated. It seems that it doesn't affect the rest of the process. But the exception bothered me, and upon examination it happens inside of RtlCaptureStackBackTrace(). What the application actually does is to hook LdrLoadDll and then later trigger delay-loading for some rpcrt4 function from sechost. Inside of the hook it calls RtlCaptureStackBackTrace(). The problem is that one of the functions is missing unwinding information. The function in question is __tailMerge_dlls_rpcrt4_librpcrt4_delay_a, generated by dlltool. It's missing seh annotations (and is not in a form compatible with SEH). The full call stack is something like this: - RtlCaptureStackBackTrace - application hook of LdrLoadDll - LdrResolveDelayLoadedAPI [dlls/ntdll/loader.c] - __delayLoadHelper2 [sechost.dll, from libs/winecrt0/delay_load.c] - __tailMerge_dlls_rpcrt4_librpcrt4_delay_a [sechost.dll, from libs/rpcrt4/librpcrt4.delay.a] - RpcStringBindingComposeW [delay thunk in sechost.dll, tail caller] - device_notify_proc [sechost.dll, dlls/sechost/service.c] RtlCaptureStackBackTrace() tries to unwind past the tailMerge function, but can't, and ends up recursing until the stack overflows. [I didn't actually investigate why, but I'm assuming that RtlCaptureStackBackTrace() is not what's broken here.] Patching dlltool to generate SEH directives allows everything to work nicely; the crash is avoided and a valid stack backtrace is returned. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
