I encountered this after logging in and entering the world, specifically the
tutorial world. That still probably isn't enough to reliably reproduce, but oh
well.
We try to clear a 3D texture, but mistakenly interpret the layer_count
parameter as a layer count, when we should be interpreting it as depth. I've
sent a patch.

Grim Fandango Remastered backtrace output
Running wine-devel 7.0 on Pop!_OS 21.10.
Grim Fandango Remastered GOG release version 1.4.0_(17097).
The game loads and the logo movie plays, then it crashes.
Happens on both 64bit and 32 bit prefix.

Game freezes and needs to be terminated by kill command
Not entirely sure if this bug resurfaced due to regression or not.
I installed the game using installer provided on http://gtamp.com/gta2/ .
Based on a few observations and comparison to playing the same game in wine
1.6., it seems that bug is somewhat less frequent, but still occurring,
probably when changes are made to player's inventory (power-up, mission
status...).

Hello everyone,
I got a request from the ubuntuusers.de forum that one user had problems
running this program and submitted an AppDB entry at
https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=40486
providing tests for 7.0rc1 and 7.0rc2 (queued) where as the console is spammed
with
018c:fixme:d3d:wined3d_device_context_resolve_sub_resource Multisample resolve
is not fully supported for typeless formats (dst_format
WINED3DFMT_R8G8B8A8_TYPELESS, src_format WINED3DFMT_R8G8B8A8_TYPELESS, format
WINED3DFMT_R8G8B8A8_UNORM).
Steps to reproduce after installation:
New → File → Drivers → Control I/O (opens up a grey window but nothing happens)

When running Entropia
(http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=20449), we have
got to the stage where Entropia can start up and run, but most of the textures
are missing from avatars/objects

Also, if you move the camera, or move around at all really, then the game
crashes.
in Wine1.1.42, entropia starts. i was not able to get entropia to start in
wine1.2
!!!i am using winetricks d3dx9_36.dll override!!!, without this overridded,
entropia does not run.

The problem was diagnosed by Andrew Eikum.
The game calls NtRemoveIoCompletion() with an infinite timeout from one thread,
and from another posts a message and then immediately closes the port. It
expects NtRemoveIoCompletion() to return success. In Wine this may result in a
race where the select request returns STATUS_SUCCESS but the subsequent
remove_completion request returns STATUS_INVALID_HANDLE, triggering the "6"
(i.e. ERROR_INVALID_HANDLE) message.
Paul Gofman sent a patch series [1] to essentially keep the completion handle
open while NtRemoveIoCompletion is executing, but it was sent close to code
freeze and fell off the list without review.
