The mouse in GTA3 can only be moved about 280 degrees left or right before it
hits a hard stop where it cannot move any further.
Affected Wine versions are 8.11 - 8.17 (self-build on Fedora).
I'm using Wayland+Gamescope and Virtual Desktop and Mouse Capture is enabled.
Wine version 8.10 and under are fine, allowing 360 and more movement without
hitting a stop.
Looks like a regression with the mouse improvements intorduced with 8.11.

How to reproduce...
Create wine prefix using wine 8.0.1 (32 or 64 bit)
Install COD WAW game (I have the retail CD)
Install COD WAW patches
Install some COD WAW zombie map mops (I used Nacht Der Untoten Reimagined and

Wine report of Photoshop Crash
Wine reported a severe error when running the transaction Photoshop CS2, in
Windows it is working normally. I installed the program on Linux using wine
installer, after the installation it worked. Now after having locked my screen
and restart, because things were not working in general after the wake up of
Linux, it is not working anymore at all. Please find the report attached.
If the Photoshop won't work, it would be kind of a Linux showstopper for me...
- which I would regret, because I recently found a lot of advantages using
Linux instead of Windows.
Having these problems with Photoshop I think I can forget to try Microsoft
Office.. but this is a minor issue, I rarely write letters which have to be
fully compatible...
Thank you very much for your help!
Kind regards,
Markus
P.S. I see Bug ID 46740 with the same problem, but that was wine version 4.0,
an update has been suggested, but I am running 8.0.2 already...

Honkai Impact 3rd; wine 7.19 default output
Hello,
I installed the game "Honkai Impact 3rd" from Epic Games Store in a fresh
prefix.
Installing EGS had no issue.
Installing the game had no issue, except that it complained about a failure to
install a required add-on. When the message was closed, it proceeded to
download and install the game anyway. The add-on it tries to install are
KB2921916 and KB3033929, which adds SHA256 support to Windows 7
(https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/f4a4e72c-85c7-4683-8f4d-4…).
I think it's unrelated to this bug.
Clicking on the game in the EGS library opens the game launcher. Clicking
'play' in the game launcher closes the open window(s) and launches the game
client. There is nothing on screen, but there's a BH3.exe process that rapidly
(under 30sec) eats all RAM memory. Then the computer starts crawling while it
eats all swap memory (5~10 mins). After it reaches 100% of all memory used, the
system kills the game client process and all memory is freed. The EGS launcher
comes back on screen (if the CEF webhelper didn't crash in the meantime).
My system has 16GB of RAM and 16GB of swap. The game requirements are 4GB
minimum - 8GB recommended.
I've had a few game consumes all RAM and some swap lately, but they were games
with requirement of 16Gb minimum and I thought that Wine dependencies and linux
libraries consumption explained that it needed a couple of Gb more. It doesn't
explain the current issue, however.
It may also be the application that behaves badly, but I've not seen reports of
such memory problems on Windows when searching for it.
It may be a wine bug.

Applications created with Delphi create secondary top level windows without
WS_EX_APPWINDOW style set, and minimizing such a window leads to a window
completely disappearing without any ability to restore it.
This is a regression caused by
commit 61e50e15ba45ad54655f98619f5ef33917033165
Author: Alexandre Julliard <julliard(a)winehq.org>

winex11: Map zero-size windows and set an empty window region for them.
Admittedly Windows behaviour is weird: it minimizes such windows in an MDI
style with desktop as an MDI client and Delphi window as an MDI child.
https://source.winehq.org/patches/data/196455 is an attempt to fix this
regression.
Before this patch: no taskbar window for a normal or minimized owned window.
After this patch: no taskbar window for normal owned window, after a window
being minimized a taskbar button appears, after a window being restored a
taskbar button gets removed.
Attachment contains a simple test app (source + binary) that reproduces this
problem.

user32: Fix a SetClipboardData() buffer overflow.
Wine would append a correctly aligned NUL Unicode character to
terminate the string but overflow the buffer by one byte for odd-sized
strings.
Windows instead overwrites the last two buffer bytes with a NUL Unicode
character which ends up being misaligned for odd-sized strings.
The clipboard data has a size field anyway so match the Windows
behavior.
Tweak the tests to show that SetClipboardData() can overwrite half of
the Unicode string's last character.

The following construction fails in the all 8.x versions of Wine (currently I
upgraded to version 8.7 devel) and works Ok in Wine 7.1:
MENUITEMINFO mii = {};
mii.cbSize = sizeof(mii);
mii.fMask = MIIM_STRING | MIIM_STATE;
if (pimi->iconId != -1) {
mii.fMask |= MIIM_BITMAP;
if (IsWinVerVistaPlus() && IsThemeActive()) {
if (pimi->hBmp == nullptr)
pimi->hBmp = ConvertIconToBitmap(pimi->parent->m_hMenuIcons,
pimi->iconId);
mii.hbmpItem = pimi->hBmp;
}
else mii.hbmpItem = HBMMENU_CALLBACK;
}
InsertMenuItemW(hMenu, uItem, TRUE, &mii);
I.e. if I run command 'winecfg -v win2003', then everything is Ok with icons,
otherwise I see black squares instead of icons. This code works Ok under all
versions of Windows, from XP to Windows 11, the problem is specific to Wine 8.x
under Linux (I use Kubuntu 23.04).
To see the problem you can download my open source messenger Miranda NG from
https://miranda-ng.org/downloads, just download a ZIP, run it and open main or
tray icon menu. The full source code is avalable here:
https://github.com/miranda-ng/miranda-ng, you need module menu_utils.cpp inside
mir_app, InsertMenuItemWithSeparators or BuildRecursiveMenu functions.

2. Text on inventory screen is drawn at a wrong position.
3. Game crashes due to gfx running out of vms shortly after exiting and

When i run Post Mortem

if i run compiz and try anything that zooms out of the desktop (eg fire up the
app switcher or enable 3d windows and rotate the cube) i can see the app
running normaly (videos and everything, i even managed to start a game). It
seems that the app starts "above" the desktop for some reason (i've attached
the log).
You can get the game from here -> http://uk-microids.gamesplanet.com/ for a few
euros and check it out, i haven't tested the demo but i guess it should have
the same behaviour, you can get it here ->
http://www.gamespot.com/pc/adventure/postmortem/download_2897772.html
This seems to be the only problem with this game, sound works, gameplay is ok,
you just have to fire up the app switcher or rotate the cube with 3d windows
enabled in order to see anything :P

WINEDEBUG=warn+all log for running pol.exe with wine-1.3.29
Final Fantasy XI hangs after character selection and setting active character
on the server. The main game screen does not load. A log with
WINEDEBUG=warn+all with wine-1.3.29 is attached. After doing a regression
test, the commit that caused FFXI to hang after character selection seems to

Summary: ntoskrnl.exe:ntoskrnl breaks test_rawinput() in
user32:input for non-English locales on Windows 7
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Hardware: x86-64
OS: Windows
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: user32
Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
Reporter: fgouget(a)codeweavers.com
ntoskrnl.exe:ntoskrnl breaks test_rawinput() in user32:input for non-English
locales on Windows 7:
input.c:2921: Test failed: 15: expected WM_INPUT message
input.c:2924: Test failed: 15: expected RIM_INPUT message
See https://test.winehq.org/data/patterns.html#user32:input
These failures happen in the w7u-de, w7u-el, w7u-es and w7y-pt-PT locales but
not in the English test configurations (w7u, w7u-2qxl).
Also they only happen if ntoskrnl.exe:ntoskrnl was run before.
And a bisect shows that they started with the commit below:
commit fb0f8fe54712541790944f24ad61f662ddb92155
Author: Tim Clem <tclem(a)codeweavers.com>
Date: Thu Jan 12 11:30:23 2023 -0800
user32/tests: Test GetRawInputBuffer header fields more thoroughly.
Exposes an alignment issue under WoW64.

d3d8:device - test_wndproc() often gets an unexpected WM_WINDOWPOSCHANGING in
Wine:
device.c:3221: Test failed: Expected message 0x46 for window 0, but didn't
receive it, i=1.
See https://test.winehq.org/data/patterns.html#d3d8:device
This specific case started happening on 2023-09-08. A similar failure happened
in the past but only for i=0 while in the WineTest runs this failure only
happens with i=1. A bisect shows that this specific failure started with the
