Mac OS X has long had support for DWARF-2. Unfortunately, the current
implementation of DWARF-2 support in DbgHelp is tied to ELF. This means it
can't directly be used on Mac OS X, because Mac OS X does not support ELF.
I understand that getting things to work on Linux first takes priority over
getting them to work on Mac OS, but right now we Mac users are stuck with the
inferior stabs format. Plus, I get the feeling we're going to need this for
64-bit support. Also, DWARF happens to be the default format on 10.5 and up.
I also understand that the scheme that Apple uses is different from ELF
systems. Not only does DWARF-2 stuff get its own segment (__DWARF), but when
the binary is built, the DWARF stuff is put into a dSYM companion bundle. On
top of that, the dSYM bundle isn't even generated automatically for multi-file
builds. This means that:
- We have to invoke dsymutil to create the dSYM bundle.
- We have to install the dSYM bundle (if present) with each binary.
- We have to find the dSYM bundle to get DWARF-2 debug info.
I would be more than willing to help with this. (This might have even made a
good SoC project. Too late now...)

In newer versions of Project64, GlideN64 is the default video plugin. When
using this plugin, games only show a black screen.
This is easy to reproduce with Project64 3.0.1. Install the application, and
run it. On first start, it will ask if you want to use the GlideN64 or
Project64 Video plugin. Choose GlideN64, then select a rom, and start. You may
need to resume emulation (press f2), but you'll only see a black screen.
If you remove 'C:\Program Files\Project64 3.0\Config\Project64.cfg', and rerun,
then select 'Project64 Video', and start a game (and resume), video works.
I tested Project64 on my windows partition, to make sure this hardware is
capable of running gliden64. On windows, gliden64 works.

Debugging Log
The game will launch and play but several textures in the game are not correct.
Character uniforms; cars; objects in game; etc. The strange colors they are
change from playthrough to playthrough as well. I am using version 1.07f of the

It is the worst git bisect I've ever done. Apart from the lengthy time needed
to test each commit, the regression occurs within a range of 44 commits
(bb065801a69..2a8a4cbbe63), the first 43 of which all die on startup, so we
can't easily distinguish that bug from this one.
I've now had to make a separate branch, "git rebase --onto <that range>" to
copy commits from that range there, then "git rebase -i" to reorder them and
separate the startup-breaking commits (ntdll/kernel32/kernelbase) from the
other commits.
Unfortunately, having done so, it appears the startup-breaking commits are also
the commits that caused this regression. One or more of these is the culprit:
ntdll: Move kernel32 loading into LdrInitializeThunk().
ntdll: Return system dir path for PE mapping bootstrap placeholders.
ntdll: Fail to load non-existent dlls, except during prefix bootstrap.
ntdll: Also check syswow64 to determine if the prefix was initialized.
include: Add more SYSTEM_INFORMATION_CLASS definitions.
kernel32: Implement GetSystemCpuSetInformation().
ntdll: Implement NtQuerySystemInformationEx(SystemCpuSetInformation).
kernelbase: Don't fall back to dll loading for LOAD_LIBRARY_AS_DATAFILE.
ntdll: Set the window title to the image name on the Unix side.
ntdll: Remove load_builtin_dll() and get_load_order() from the Unix interface.
ntdll: Map the builtin or fake dll from the Wine dirs if it's missing from the
prefix.

I am able to connect to the serial port via applications in wine but there is
never any data received.
I can communicate outside of wine without issue using minicom.
I am using a ftdi usb to serial adapter that worked fine in previous versions
of ubuntu. I am having this problems with all relases of wine I have tried
including the default ubuntu package and 2.4 from the PPA

To reproduce this you'll have to install Premiere Pro CS4 using wine 1.1.16
(there's also a patch available for current trunk)
I believe this beginning error lies somewhere in msxml and gdiplus.
(You can get a lot further in the program using native dll's (like msxml and
gdiplus) but then you're not allowed to post bugs for obvious reasons. You can
try it out using the same winetricks for Photoshop CS4)

To reproduce:
1. Open Wine's wordpad and LibreOffice Writer.
2. Type some text in wordpad.
3. Copy text to the clipboard.
4. Paste into LibreOffice Writer.
Or:
1. Open Wine's wordpad and LibreOffice Writer.

3. Save from wordpad as a .rtf file.
4. Open the rtf file in LibreOffice Writer.
In both cases, the text shows up with a black background in Writer. This does
not happen with native riched20. When opening the rtf file with Word 2007, I do
not see the black background, so this is somehow related to the interaction
between Wine's richedit and LibreOffice, and I can't be sure which is at fault.

There are two problems here.I found out that the first problem existed in 7.12
and cause crash, but was fixed in 7.22 (doesn't exist).The second problem
exists in 7.22 and cause crash, but not in 7.12.
I found that the first problem has been fixed, so I would like to ask which
commit was fixed it (because there are many commits, I think the developer of
wine may know better and can give the answer at once,if You feel this bothered
you, first of all I'm sorry) .
The second issue renders the application completely unusable (QQ Music APP can
worked in 7.12, but not in 7.22)

Here's a description of how the crash happens:
Background:
In the QQ Music program, this APP want to use the font "Microsoft YaHei" to
output the four characters "QQ音乐". The function to call is:
dwritetextlayout_Draw -> QQMusic logic -> create_colorglyphenum -> crash
The cause of the crash is that in the function "create_colorglyphenum", there
is a judgment of "!colorfont".

The "Microsoft YaHei" is not colorfont, it will return DWRITE_E_NOCOLOR
directly, thus triggering a null pointer crash. But I found that in the current
wine7.22, the same return here but no longer triggers the crash, so I would
like to ask which commit fixed this problem (the dichotomy method consumes a
lot of time, so I want to ask if you know the commit first, if You feel this
bothered you, first of all say sorry)
In summary,All you have to do is to add the font file, run the exe file I sent
with wine7.12 .

I have one exe file which seems to be Photodex generated slideshow application.
It used to word perfectly with Wine in 2010-2012, but when I tried to run it
recently I got no output on screen.
Sound plays fine, and it looks like application window is created (it is
present on taskbar), but there is no window, no borders, no title, no output.
Well this slideshow runs fullscreen, but anyway no output.
I've managed to bisect this problem to:

In Ubuntu 12.04 is freetype 2.4.8, so IMHO we can rely on 2.4 series + ncurses

To reproduce, run `Xephyr :1 -ac -screen 800x600x8` in one terminal window and
`DISPLAY=:1 wine regedit` in another. The window colors are positively
psychedelic.
A regression test on a Debian 6.0 Squeeze virtual machine revealed:

While working on leveraging the vbscript engine of Wine for a macos/linux port
of Visual Pinball, I finally have the example table working and am starting to
work through the runtime errors.
Since the table scripts are often copies of copies of copied code, sometimes
bad practices make their way in.
Take the following code:
Const tnob = 5 ' total number of balls
ReDim rolling(tnob)
This works in real vbscript, but fails here.
As a work around, I've updated the script to:
Const tnob = 5 ' total number of balls
Dim rolling()
ReDim rolling(tnob)
According to the rules I've found:
It's possible to create a new dynamic array within a procedure using the ReDim
statement if the array to which it refers doesn't already exist at either
module or level. Typically, this results from an error of omission; the
programmer forgets to explicitly define the array using Dim, Public, or
Private. Since this method of creating an array can cause conflicts if a
variable or array of the same name is subsequently defined explicitly, ReDim
should be used only to redimension an existing array, not to define a new one.

I'm trying to get d16's Punchbox VST2 running on Arch with wine-staging 6.19
(via the wine-ge-custom package).
All d16 plugins require you to go through an online login prompt through the
plugin before you can use it (even for demos) and after you successfully log
in, the plugin requires you to close it and restart it. The problem is, on the
next restart the plugin asks for the activation credentials again.
This problem is not limited to one DAW, Wine version, or plugin bridge it
seems. I have tested this with Renoise and Reaper as VST hosts, with Wine 6.14,
and with the yabridge and airwave plugin bridges. I am able to run other
Windows VSTs without issue.
The plugin works despite the UI being inaccessible - it responds to midi notes,
sounds like it should and and my DAW's VST controllers work (but i can't change
presets).
Attached the log from Renoise / Wine after I start the plugin, log in, close it
and reinitialize.

If you try to run a dos app that is not under .wine/drive_c (C:) winevdm will
try to use Z: which is reserved in dosbox and fails. Need to mount / with
another drive letter and then run the dos app in that folder.
Winevdm doesn't even create a mount statement for z:

These are different projects and they both don't work in wine. I specially left

Many people will be grateful to you if you can get these projects to work in

"STREET CHAVES - O LUTADOR DA VILA" is an game using keyboard working in WINE
6.X.
In WINE 7.2 after changes in input API now the game load showing the start
screen menu, but keyboard input not work.

Another detail if running winecfg in Graphics menu if "Allow window manager to

user32: Fix a SetClipboardData() buffer overflow.
Wine would append a correctly aligned NUL Unicode character to
terminate the string but overflow the buffer by one byte for odd-sized
strings.
Windows instead overwrites the last two buffer bytes with a NUL Unicode
character which ends up being misaligned for odd-sized strings.
The clipboard data has a size field anyway so match the Windows
behavior.
Tweak the tests to show that SetClipboardData() can overwrite half of
the Unicode string's last character.

Hi,
The issue is only in DX11 version but the cinematics in this game not play
well. Play very very choppy and stuttering, at 8 or less FPS.
If exist another open issue more specific or generic, can you list this game in
it?
Maybe is a driver problem or is problem of the game it self? I don’t know, but
is possible fix this problem the experience can be perfect for all.

I'm running WinUAE v4.1.0 x64 and have noticed that several key presses don't
get picked up by the emulator.
For example, when in Workbench the right Windows key on my keyboard and N
should let me create a new drawer (directory) but as soon as I press the
Windows key I get the start menu appear and the N is ignored.
Pressing END+BREAK/PAUSE should put the emulator in and out of warp mode (it's
currently stuck in Warp mode which renders parts of the application unusable).

Powerpoint freezes the whole PC (I can not kill the process or make it quit by
using CPU limit control). To reproduce hover mouse pointer above File menu (top
left corner) button after Powerpoint has been running for a few seconds. The
whole PC becomes non-responsive and a hard reset is required to recover. I can
not gather traces since it makes the whole PC unusable right now, if there are
any debug controls for this please mention.

Backtrace for the install when all files have been extracted locally prior to
install.
When running the install with the command "wine start /unix
'/run/media/mark/USB DISK/Paintshop Pro/Paintshop Pro Ultimate
2018/psp2018_ult/Setup.exe'" the install crashes while on the fist screen of
the setup that announces the installation wizard is starting. Perhaps a newer
version of Wine would fix the issue. I also have different versions of
Paintshop Pro that I could try as I have been using it under Windows for years.
I am extremely new to Wine after trying in a it back in 1997 so I might be
able to fiddle and get the install to run.
I am running OpenSuse Leap 15.2 and installed their package of wine with
command, "zypper install wine." I am comfortable compiling from source so I
may try again with Wine 6 soon.

Prior to release 3.13.1, Path of Exile would hang and then report a crash on an
infrequent basis.
Since release 3.13.1, This behaviour is seen frequently. 4 times in one hour of
play tonight, and 5 times over a slightly longer period yesterday night.
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1600 Six-Core Processor
GPU: NVidia 1080
RAM: 8GB if I remember correctly.
I am using Wine staging. The game is running from SD.
I have DXVK installed in this Wine prefix.
The issue happens with both Vulkan and DX11 graphics.
I know this is insufficient information to investigate (unless you install the
game yourself and start playing), but it is (annoyingly) easy for me to
reproduce and if you tell me what logs you need and where to look for them I am
happy to provide. I did a search and did find two log files. I have attached
them and am not sure they are any use. They appear to be D3D log files, but I
set the game to Vulkan drivers.

I get frequent crashes when playing Dragon Age: Origins (GoG version). I added
the stack trace of some examples. In the terminal I get the following error
which might be helpful:

When trying to run anything that opens a graphics window (basically any game)
it will crash and Xorg will spit this out on the terminal (this was an attempt
to run Half-Life):

I have no idea what that means but I suspect it has something to do with my
graphics drivers as I changed over from 'rocm-dkms' to the Oibaf drivers so
that I could use kernel 5.12.2. I am going to make this bug report anyway just
in case this is a problem with wine as only wine has this issue (CS:GO works
fine and other native Linux games).

I am using DAW reaper and LinVST (bridge) to load vst from windows as a native.
Wine version up to 6.13 works good but all newer version can't work properly
(the same for wine and wine-staging).
Description:
1. Open DAW (I use reaper, crash does not depend on the version)
2. Put Soothe2 (VST Plugin) to the track. Its interface will open and
everything will work fine. The sound is processed and nothing hangs.
3. Try to close plugin window or remove plugin from track.
And after that the whole daw freezes.
If I load plugin in a separate process, only this process hangs. But in other
daws the situation is similar.
On wine 6.13 all works good. Idk how can I found many logs from vst via wine
and hope for help with the search for trace/logs of this thing. I have attached
a core dump from the system log.
I didn't have time to write about this before... And it's almost a release
candidate!

Arch PKGBUILD File for Wine 7.0 Release
Using the default Arch makepkg flags (from /etc/makepkg.conf - by default this
uses GCC so the user either has to change this to Clang or export to Clang in
the PKGBUILD), using this example PKGBUILD produces a WoW64 build but throws
stack overflow errors upon calling winecfg and doesn't run winecfg.
The same is true if all of the miscellaneous variables exported along with
Clang are not set; this will still occur. Un-setting lld and/or any of the llvm
variables bakes no difference.

The list of serial ports are empty
Hello.
There are two applications from Delta Automation:
1 - ISPSoft (An IDE for PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers));
2 - COMMGR (a small companion app which connects ISPSoft with PLCs).
ISPSoft works flawlessly for me, I haven't noticed any bugs. Projects are
created and compiled.
But it's useless until it's linked with COMMGR's driver.
COMMGR can create different types of drivers:
1 - Simulation with a localhost port (works).
2 - Ethernet (I haven't tested it, but COMMGR does see the list of my network
cards (eno1, wlp..)
3 - Serial(RS232/485) - most important one. It doesnt work, because there's no
list of available serial ports.
I use the latest version of COMMGR(1.14)
I have a real DB9 serial port (ttyS0) and CP2102 USB-Serial converter (ttyUSB0)
every port has symlinks in /dosdevices/.
/dev/ttyS0 and /dev/ttyUSB0 are granted with 777 permissions.

Log file with failure on the Intel Xeon computer
I cannot run windows programs anymore on my Intel Xeon linux computer (after
upgrade of the OS).
A simple Hello World program (console application) does not work at all (see
the log file). Here is the part of the log that seems to be the problem:

What is strange is that this happens only on one of the 2 computers that I use.
Both run the same OS (Fedora 36) with wine 7.12. The second computer run an
Intel i7.
The Xeon runs 2 Xeon CPU E5-2660 v4 which means it has 56 cores. Therefore I
first get some warnings with regards to the number of CPU:

supports 56 logical cores, but only 32 supported!

I'm not sure this is an issue.
Note that the binary file was compiled on the Xeon computer with a fresh
cross-compiler and with -static -s option:
x86_64-w64-mingw32-g++-12.1.0 -o hello_world.exe -static -s hello_world.cpp
Also, when I run the binary file on the i7 computer, it runs fine (see attached
log). So the binary file is fine.
In addition, I can add that both computers run an Nvidia GPU but only the Xeon
computer runs the nvidia proprietary driver from rpmfusion. The i7 uses
nouveau.

inside cl.exe (msvc-2022) while wine-stable 5.0.4 works fine. i've prepared
docker-based testcase that contains msvc-2022 subset extracted from official

SRDSharp error - "NO DEVICE SELECTED", when it is in fact selected in the
SDRSharp program and showing in the program window under DEVICES...
My rtl-sdr dongle is working with other SDR programs, but with SDRSharp it does
not see any device, whether the rtl-sdr or the HackRf One device is connected
and showing up in the devices...
Also getting a WINE error that says:

The SumatraPDF 3.1.2 has tabs and menu button at the top of the window. These
are partially covered by the wine title bar when not in full screen. When in
full screen, the tabs and the menu button are almost complete covered. This
makes accessing the menu and closing tabs impossible in full screen. I use

I installed the game "Honkai Impact 3rd" from Epic Games Store in a fresh
prefix.
Installing EGS had no issue.
Installing the game had no issue, except that it complained about a failure to
install a required add-on. When the message was closed, it proceeded to
download and install the game anyway. The add-on it tries to install are
KB2921916 and KB3033929, which adds SHA256 support to Windows 7
(https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/f4a4e72c-85c7-4683-8f4d-4…).
I think it's unrelated to this bug.
Clicking on the game in the EGS library opens the game launcher. Clicking
'play' in the game launcher closes the open window(s) and launches the game
client. There is nothing on screen, but there's a BH3.exe process that rapidly
(under 30sec) eats all RAM memory. Then the computer starts crawling while it
eats all swap memory (5~10 mins). After it reaches 100% of all memory used, the
system kills the game client process and all memory is freed. The EGS launcher
comes back on screen (if the CEF webhelper didn't crash in the meantime).
My system has 16GB of RAM and 16GB of swap. The game requirements are 4GB
minimum - 8GB recommended.
I've had a few game consumes all RAM and some swap lately, but they were games
with requirement of 16Gb minimum and I thought that Wine dependencies and linux
libraries consumption explained that it needed a couple of Gb more. It doesn't
explain the current issue, however.
It may also be the application that behaves badly, but I've not seen reports of
such memory problems on Windows when searching for it.
It may be a wine bug.

Starting with Wine 3.2 and on, Icewind Dale (2.0.0.11 (GOG)) is having very
strange input / glitchy rendering issues.
I have attached a video comparison with 3.1 where it works fine.
Tested with 3.2, 3.3, and 3.4, and all have the strange input and glitchy
problem.
There are no additional wine modifications.
Please see the video for example of problem, and comparison of when it was
working with 3.1

WS_EX_APPWINDOW style set, and minimizing such a window leads to a window
completely disappearing without any ability to restore it.

winex11: Map zero-size windows and set an empty window region for them.
Admittedly Windows behaviour is weird: it minimizes such windows in an MDI
style with desktop as an MDI client and Delphi window as an MDI child.
https://source.winehq.org/patches/data/196455 is an attempt to fix this
regression.
Before this patch: no taskbar window for a normal or minimized owned window.
After this patch: no taskbar window for normal owned window, after a window
being minimized a taskbar button appears, after a window being restored a
taskbar button gets removed.
Attachment contains a simple test app (source + binary) that reproduces this
problem.

user32: Fix a SetClipboardData() buffer overflow.
Wine would append a correctly aligned NUL Unicode character to
terminate the string but overflow the buffer by one byte for odd-sized
strings.
Windows instead overwrites the last two buffer bytes with a NUL Unicode
character which ends up being misaligned for odd-sized strings.
The clipboard data has a size field anyway so match the Windows
behavior.
Tweak the tests to show that SetClipboardData() can overwrite half of
the Unicode string's last character.

There are quite a few bugs here.
1. 'Type 1' cutscene player fails silently, 'Type 2' crashes.
2. Text on inventory screen is drawn at a wrong position.
3. Game crashes due to gfx running out of vms shortly after exiting and
reentering first room.
3b. The modal error dialogs related to those crashes appear *under* the game
window.
(going by proton database, things at least somewhat worked somewhere in the

When i run Post Mortem
(http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=14766 -i had to
override msvcrt but that's another bug) i get a blank screen. It turns out that
if i run compiz and try anything that zooms out of the desktop (eg fire up the
app switcher or enable 3d windows and rotate the cube) i can see the app
running normaly (videos and everything, i even managed to start a game). It
seems that the app starts "above" the desktop for some reason (i've attached
the log).

This seems to be the only problem with this game, sound works, gameplay is ok,

Console output
Whel i load syberia game, i hear the sound, but on screen i see only my desktop
without mouse, etc. I can switch to other windows by window manager, but don`t
see anything. Game locks image. Keyboard work, so i switch to console and kill
wineserver.

Using the dev branch causes several games (Dragon Age: Origins, Homeworld2
Complex , and the recently released Etherium, which were the only games I have)
to fail to grab the keyboard, such that keypresses show up in the aterm from
which the wine command was issued. Downgrading to the 1.6.* series resolves the
issue
Furthermore, the Complex mod for wine runs *etremely* slowly: loading a game
with 1.6.* takes under 30 seconds; with 1.7.* it's over ten minutes.
What information do you need to help narrow down the issue?

It seems that certain older 64-bit components such as Microsoft XML libs make
assumptions about the 64-bit user-mode virtual address space layout.
This is different from the usual broken apps a la "I failed at porting my
32-bit app to 64-bit" (pointer truncation).
In this case, pointers from certain allocations are broken into multiple parts
and used as indices into multi-level lookup tables.
Pitfall: there is a 44-bit user-mode VA limitation (8TB) for 64-bit Windows
which was lifted starting with Windows 8.1+.
Wine doesn't respect the 44-bit pre-Windows 8.1 virtual address space limits,
allowing process heaps to be placed in 0000'7Fxx'0000'0000 range (128 TB) which
causes out-of-bounds access to lookup tables when indices overflow (derived
from pointer bits). The exception occurs in entry point, causing 'msxml6.dll'
to be unloaded.
One workaround is to move Wine's top-down allocations/heaps into 8 TB VA range
(Wine preloader) and impose same user-mode address space bits limits as with
all 64-bit Windows versions < 8.1 to stay "compatible". I've tested it and it
works for native here. Not sure if it's worth to change though.
I don't know if a separate 64-bit MSXML6 re-distributable package exists that
has been fixed wrt Windows 8.1+ address space limits.
MSXML6 is part of Windows OS for newer versions and automatically kept
up-to-date.

The menu bar has no reaction to any mouse clicks, acts like it is disabled.
The issue affects multiple apps, another app I know is Propellerhead Reason
(https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10845).
There was an experimental patch (from Rein Klazes in 2009) which used to fix
the issue, but IIRC this patch was never accepted. Anyway, for many years it
was enough to recompile Wine with that patch to have a working app menu...
until recently. Now dlls/user32/menu.c code was heavily refactored so the patch
cannot be applied even manually (all involved functions are gone etc).
To summarize:
- there is a bug which breaks app menu functionality for at least 2 apps
- at this moment there is NO fix or workaround which can be applied anymore
The original bugreport for Propellerhead Reason is from 2007. A 15-year wine is
nice, but a 15 years old bug in Wine is not - please, please do something with
this issue.

Hi! I got an error with FormatFactory 4.5.5. It stops responding when I drag
and drop a file from desktop into the app. To reproduce the bug:
1) Download the program from

Windows since at least version Windows 10 19H1 ships a icu.dll in the system
directory. The VS2022 (and I think also VS2019) C++ standard library in C++20
mode uses this DLL to implement the timezone database as specified by the C++
standard. The standard library loads this DLL dynamically with LoadLibraryExW
(see
<https://github.com/microsoft/STL/blob/ef62d3fa0b8e4e2406b9bb74e916e1ca8a1df…>)
and throws a std::system_error (see
<https://github.com/microsoft/STL/blob/ef62d3fa0b8e4e2406b9bb74e916e1ca8a1df…>

when it cannot load it. In order to provide compatibility with modern Windows
versions, IMHO Wine should thus ship a compatible icu.dll. A similar issue also
exists for older Windows versions even on the Microsoft side (see
<https://github.com/microsoft/STL/issues/1911>).
This issue arose since I recently modernized timezone handling in OpenMPT by
using C++20 chrono. For now, I have worked around the problem in OpenMPT. See

The ASCOM Platform allows windows desktop planetarium programs to control
astronomical hardware such as telescopes, domes, and cameras.
The software is freely distributable and open source, released under the
Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 License, but written under the .NET
Platform.
The latest version is ASCOM Platform 6.5, written under .NET Framework 4.8 and
Visual Studio 2019.
To prepare the installation, I ran winetricks -q vcrun2019 dotnet35sp1
dotnet452 dotnet472 dotnet48. No errors were reported in the installation of
dotnet.
I then launched the installer with the following command:
WINEDEBUG=+nls wine ASCOMPlatform65.exe >> ASCOMPlatform65.log 2>&1
The installation went smoothly but popped up several error screens and ended
with an installation failed.
Screenshots of the error screens are attached.
The WINEDEBUG log file is gzipped and attached.

Visibility of images depending on Window Text color.
The lighter the Window Text color gets, the less visible the images in an
ImageList get.
This really affects people primarily using dark themes such as myself, as then
the text color is going to be so light the images will be invisible.
I'm not sure if this issue is present in other software, but in this case I am
experiencing this with the GSAE (GS Advanced Editor) tool shipped with Roland
sound modules.
I am able to see the images properly again if I replace what is currently line
1488 of `comctl32/imagelist.c` (ImageList_DrawIndirect) with `if (FALSE)`
instead of `if (himl->hbmMask)` so the else branch always runs (this will
likely break other software though, and in my case is just a temporary
measure).

Simple testcase in c
FindFirstFile can be used to correct the case of a file. In fact when trying to
correct the case of the whole path and file, a google implies its a good
routine to use to pass each part of the directory tree through
Problem: If findfirstfile isnt passed a wildcard, it looks for the file in
question and if it exists, returns the case of the file as supplied, not the
case as it is on disk
Try supplied testcase.
I think this can also be seen by:

dir >ABCD
dir abcd
Note in the directory listing it shows abcd, not ABCD

Upon getting the error message, I exit Terminal to kill Wine.
The launcher allows me to log into my account, but when the launcher downloads
the files necessary to play the game, it doesn't launch. Unity Web Player
displays an error message stating that Unity Web Player needs to be updated. It
works on Windows correctly, but not in Wine. The game uses a custom version of
Unity Web Player 2.x.x.

As I have not found a bug report for this already I've decided to create one
myself.
Many 16-bit games, especially the old Windows 3.1 games like "whack-a-mole",
"Bricklayer" and many others I've tried simply don't work at all in Wine. Since
there's too many 16-bit games to list, it makes sense to write one bug report
covering the same problem i.e. problems running 16-bit games.

Here I've found that the 32-bit version of tetris works in Wine, but the 16-bit
version does NOT work at all (try it yourself from this link, you get to
download both the 32-bit and 16-bit versions respectively, at the bottom of

I'm pleased to say that the Ballistic (Paddle) game appears to work:

This bug report may appear trivial and not important, but playing old Windows
games appeals to some people. These games will NOT work in dosbox. Also
consider that 64-bit versions of Microsoft Windows won't even run 16-bit
programs and games, whereas Wine can sometimes get them working, as in the case
of the Ballistic game.

Activation window
Steps to reproduce:

2) winetricks dotnet20sp2
3) install AutoCAD
4) wine acad.exe
5) select that you want to activate product and click next
6) enter your registrations data

Behaviour:
Nothing happens.

How the calendar widget looks when run on Windows XP.
When showing transactions there is a date entry field where the user can enter
a date. Or press "enter" to get a date picker widget. The widget seems to be
missing in Wine.
To reproduce:
- Run the software like "wine Hemeko.exe"
- There will be dialogue asking about number format, click Yes.
- On first run you get an intro (or error see Bug 53384). If error, just
dismiss. If intro, press "Återgå till Hemekonomi" to dismiss.
- Click "Arkiv" and "Ny" to create a new database to work with. When asked
"Ange namnet på den nya databasen" enter something like "foo.mdb" and click OK.
- Click "Fortsätt med Hemekonomi" to dismiss setup wizard.
- Press CTRL-K or click on icon Kontoutdrag.
- Click OK.
- Use mouse to set focus on entry field in lower right corner called "Fr o m"
- Press enter.
- See Program Error.
On subsequent runs click Arkiv/Öppna instead to use the existing foo.mdb
database.

Rising Lands navigating back output
This is NOT a regression but a still not working at all bug resulting of a
previous bugfix.
I mean, before Wine 4.11 in Rising Lads game (a Win95 game that uses wine 32
bit configuring it with Windows 95 compatibility), it was impossible at all to
navigate back from a secondary menu at main menu by pressing ESC key.
This is, if you clicked on "load game" from main menu and then pressed ESC key
to go back to main menu, all texts were cleared and animations stopped
resulting in a freezed screen. Same happens during gameplay in order to save
the game.
As of a bugfix in wine 4.11 now is possible to go back but just in a certain
situation: being in windowed mode (due to another bug) you have to which to any
other app by pressing Alt+TAB. At the very moment wine loses the focus main
menu is refreshed. No need to go back again to wine, though. As you can see if
dragged apart the new appearing window.
I've made a regression testing to find out which exact commit had fixed this
bug this way, and this is the output:

winex11: Update the state of all keys on KeymapNotify.
The Binding of Isaac transitions in and out of fullscreen when the "F" key
is pressed. Specifically, it will swap states when receiving WM_KEYDOWN,
provided that the previous key state was not pressed (i.e. bit 30 is 0).
However, as part of the process of transitioning, it hides and shows its
window, causing it to temporarily lose focus. If the F key is released while
the window does not have focus, Wine misses this fact, and thinks that the key
was already pressed the next time it is pressed, causing the game to refuse to
change focus. Windows will not deliver WM_KEYUP messages to a window that does
not have focus, but it will always report the true previous state of any key on
the keyboard when requested.

On Beasts & Bumpkins game, a video clip is played to present every new mission.
This video y shown black, but audio sounds correctly. Note that initial trailer
video clips work properly but if you start a new single campaign the following
video that presents the first mission does not work, showing black.
This is a Win95 game. Therefore I have to use wine 32bit and apply windows 95
configuration.

winex11: Resize the screen when changing CRTC modes.
Based on a patch by Gabriel Corona.
According to the RandR spec for RRSetCrtcConfig:
"The entire area of the CRTC must fit within the screen size, else a Match
error results. As an example, rotating the screen so that a single CRTC fills
the entire screen before and after may necessitate disabling the CRTC, resizing
the screen, then re-enabling the CRTC at the new configuration to avoid an
invalid intermediate configuration."
This patch involves resizing the screen also when shrinking a CRTC, not
just when expanding it past the current screen size. This is partially because
we have no way to reliably determine the current display width (DisplayWidth()
is never updated past opening the connection, and RandR exposes no way to
retrieve the screen dimensions), and partially because it's probably what the
user wants anyway (e.g. it's what the `xrandr` configuration app does when the
screen size is not expliticly specified).
This patch fixes TestBot failures on the Debian machines for ddraw, d3d8,
and d3d9 device tests.

There are a few games that need DH support in bcrypt.
- The Rockstar Games Launcher, GTA V, and RDR 2 all open DH and generate+export
a public key. With DH unimplemented, the only effect I know of is that RDR 2's
online mode fails to load.
- Astroneer dedicated server (see
https://www.reddit.com/r/wine_gaming/comments/gvaa9a/bcryptopenalgorithmpro…).
>From a disassembler, it looks like the server imports/exports public/private
keys, and uses BCryptDeriveKey() with the "HASH" KDF and SHA256.
