Regression SHA1: 81cd178ae1baea33212acf7d7e8e65d354e50492
Distribution: ---
This is about a bug in the original Homeworld, can be reproduced in the demo
and the patched v1.05 game version as well.
When changing screen resolution or selecting a different renderer in the video
options menu the game hangs with 100% CPU usage after clicking the <accept>
button to apply the change.
Bug #23714 describes a problem when changing resolution, the difference is that
I can't reproduce the problem in Wine 1.2/1.4, the problem appeared in Wine
1.5.8 for me.
The first commit that broke the game (so that it crashes when changing
resolution):
commit 81cd178ae1baea33212acf7d7e8e65d354e50492
Author: Alexandre Julliard <julliard(a)winehq.org>
Date: Mon Jun 25 21:51:16 2012 +0200
winex11: Move ChoosePixelFormat implementation to opengl32 and base it on
DescribePixelFormat.
Then came (Wine 1.5.17)
commit 449deda62fea5f18676e3e109e7f4c4f455b6b40
Author: Alexandre Julliard <julliard(a)winehq.org>
Date: Thu Nov 8 11:56:06 2012 +0100
wined3d: Link directly to opengl32.
and the game hangs since then.
To reproduce the problem in the demo:
1. install the demo and start the game with homeworld.exe
2. in the main menu go to <Options> -> <Video> menu and choose a different
screen resolution/renderer and click the <Accept!> button.

The given URL links to the free trial version / demo of the game; the full
version behaves identically.
Use unzip -I shift-jis -O shift-jis to extract the ZIP, to avoid garbling the
filenames.
Run サクラノ刻第I章体験版.exe; you'll probably want to set LANG=ja_JP.UTF-8.
1. Start game.
2. Wait until you get the regular UI [it's just a few seconds, but you can
press left-ctrl to speed it up a bit].
3. Save the game.
4. Note that the thumbnail doesn't show the screen you're on but is all-black.
If you examine the "savedata" directory, you'll notice that there's an
all-black PNG alongside the save file; in other words, it seems to be the
capture that fails.
Installing DXVK into the prefix "fixes" the issue.
That's why I chose the d3d component, by the way. I hope that was the right
thing to do; if not please accept my apologies and reassign.

debug output from console (I marked the point at which the mouse pointer left
the window)
I'm using wine 1.1.3 (compiled from source for complete debug symbols, but
crash is the same with the package from winehq) on ubuntu 8.04.
When wine runs in virtual desktop mode and the intro video of MechCommander is
over, as soon as the mouse pointer leaves the window, the game freezes and I
get a backtrace on the console. There are no errors or fixmes directly related
to the crash. If I then use ctrl+c in the console, the internal debugger of
MechCommander starts (this also happens if the crash has not happened), but
does not seem to be of any use (missing debug symbols I think), but at least
the program does not die totally.
If I disable direct draw for MechCommander (edit prefs.cfg in game directory
and set "b DirectDraw = F") the game runs in windowed mode itself and I have
not seen the crash happen.
I have seen it happen with MechCommander Gold and also with the free demo of
MechCommander. The only way to get the demo seems to be from
http://downloads.gamezone.com/demos/d8467.htm (unfortunately you need a special
downloader, but it runs with wine), but http://www.mechcommander.org/ offers
some valuable help on how to obtain the full version.

# What I did
I downloaded and wanted to play "FNF: Dustin V3" via wine which has some
intense shaders at the middle of the song, I don't have access to the source
code or anything but judging from the log it seems to be an issue with
Haxeflixel itself in some way I'm not sure tho.

Screenshot with settings in WarpEM GUI
Trying to do some data processing with WarpEM fails with this error:
0280:err:eventlog:ReportEventW L"Application: WarpWorker.exe\nFramework
Version: v4.0.30319\nDescription: The process was terminated due to an internal
error in the .NET Runtime at IP 00000000014B7F8A (00000000013F0000) with exit
code 80131506.\n"
In order to reproduce the issue, I did the following:
* install WarpEM 1.0.9 on wine-staging 7.3/Debian10 according to
https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=40620
* Download about 50 data sets or more from
http://ftp.ebi.ac.uk/empiar/world_availability/10721/data/
(the total set is 1.5TB with 2834 files, 50 are sufficient)
* Start WarpEM and set "Input: directory" to local copy of th data, and set
"Input: Extension" to "*.tiff".
* Adapt settings in WarpEM gui according to attached screenshot
(Pixel X/Y: 0.4190/0.4190, Bin:1, Exposure 1, Range 20.0-2.8, Motion
33.5-6.7, Motion Grid 6x4x70, etc.)
* Click on "START PROCESSING"
Then for each selected gpu, a WarpWorker (cmd) window is openend, which
eventually dies, and Wine reports for each work this error:
093c:err:eventlog:ReportEventW L"Application: WarpWorker.exe\nFramework
Version: v4.0.30319\nDescription: The process was terminated due to an internal
error in the .NET Runtime at IP 00000000014B7F8A (00000000013F0000) with exit
code 80131506.\n"
Once these WarpWorker Windows closed, pressing "STOP PROCESSING" has no effect,
and Warp can only be closed by closing the window, and stopping wine with
<Ctrl-C> .
I understand that the error code indicates a problem with memory management and
garbage collection, so it might be also a bug in WarpEM. However, according to
a colleague, the same procedure seem to work fine on windows.
I plan to attach a log file with default WINEDEBUG. Let me know if you need
further information.

backtrace from 'wine FigmaSetup.exe'
I have downloaded the latest Figma installer from www.figma.com, so that I can
install it.
This is a 1st-time installation of both Wine and Figma.
When I first ran Wine, I accepted the offer to install wine-mono (as per
recommendations from WineHQ docs).
OS: Debian Sid.
Apt sources: WineHQ, as per docs.
Install command: apt-get install --install-recommends winehq-stable
command used, in terminal: wine FigmaSetup.exe
1st run:
Crashed.
2nd (and subsequent) run:
FigmaSetup.exe says 'Please re-run this installer as a normal user instead of
"Run as Administrator"'.
If I delete ~/.wine/, I am able to repeat this.
Same happens if I use 'wine64' instead of 'wine' in the commandline.
Same happens after I installed winehq-devel (8.7-bookworm-1).

Summary: Bobcad v21 crashes on startup

Version: 1.5.9

Need 'winetricks mfc42' before install to avoid a DLL registration failure.
On startup, the app crashes. +relay shows it's right after
ole32.OleCreateEmbeddingHelper() returns. Adding warn+heap seems to
show it's using freed memory as a pointer:
