Summary: Wine does not open .log files automatically
Product: Wine
Version: 1.9.16
Hardware: x86-64
OS: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
Reporter: 00cpxxx(a)gmail.com
Distribution: Debian
When running CPU-Z sometimes it will fail to load its driver and then will ask
if you want to see the log file. This will always fail with a second message
box saying the file was not found. By running +process we can see this:
trace:process:create_process_impl app (null) cmdline
L"\"C:\\users\\wine\\Temp\\\\cpuz_driver_8.log\""
Then I opened the .exe and changed .log for .txt and voilà, the file was opened
in notepad.
trace:process:create_process_impl app (null) cmdline
L"\"C:\\users\\wine\\Temp\\\\cpuz_driver_8.txt\""
...
trace:process:create_process_impl starting
L"C:\\windows\\system32\\notepad.exe" as Win32 binary (0x10000000-0x1002f000,
arch 014c, fakedll)
Is it possible to make .log files also open in notepad?

Hi,
When i do "wine wmic logicaldisk get size"
I seem to get bogus results:
82252800000
82252800000
I have c: and z: in my winecfg and they do not match at all.
Something like "wine wmic logicaldisk get freespace" does work correctly so I
suspect some kind of bug?

STDOUT/STDERR log when warcraft-iii-reforged-1.33.0.19194 is starting an
switching to black main menu
Last night (2022-08-18) Blizzard released an update for Warcraft III Reforged
from version 1.32.x to 1.33.0.19194.
Since then the main menu of the game is just black!
But I can hear the sound of the main menu.
I attached a STDOUT/STDERR log.
Version 1.32.x of the game was running fine using wine-staging-7.14.
(didn't test any other wine version before)
Wine versions I just tried:
wine-staging-7.14

OS: Debian-11
Wine: https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/debian/

working.

COMBOEX_Create
SetWindowSubclass(infoPtr->hwndEdit, COMBOEX_EditWndProc, EDIT_SUBCLASSID,
(DWORD_PTR)hwnd);
infoPtr->font = (HFONT)SendMessageW(infoPtr->hwndCombo /*HERE*/, WM_GETFONT, 0,

Shouldn't you access infoPtr->hwndEdit (instead of infoPtr->hwndCombo) at the
mentioned position in the second line?

This problem can be noticed if one tries to use LTSpice [1], places a Capacitor
in the schematic, right clicks on it and then on "Select Capacitor".
The window that opens has a blank space where the header is supposed to be,
resizing the windows makes the header appear and clicking on the headers
themselves makes them appear for a brief instant.

To see the bug, open regedit drag the bar that separates registry tree from
values so that it partly covers registry branches names. If you use native
comctl32.dll or in windows you'll see tooltips over these partly covered items,
displaying full item name. Wine won't show anything.
This is true with listview also.
In some applications that have big listview tables with long values this bug
becomes pretty annoying (when you constantly have to change comlumn widths etc
in order to see complete values).
Maybe this bug was reported earlier, but I have not found it.

I came across a upstream bug where The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel
could not play FMV and crashes on load. Upon consideration of the error, I
decided that the problem is a upstream one and thus I should report to Wine
developers.
Wine was crashing because the game was calling an unimplemented function called
_wsplitpath_s from ntdll.dll. This call was not made if the option to skip all
FMVs are selected in the game's configuration utility, and thus I have reason
to believe that the game uses this for FMV playback.

Summary: Datetime conrtol doesn't handle WM_SYSKEYDOWN/VK_DOWN.
Product: Wine
Version: 6.0-rc6
Hardware: x86-64

Created attachment 69175
--> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=69175
a quick hack.
Some .net applications implement a button for showing the dropdown of DateTime
control by themselves. And the button sends WM_SYSKEYDOWN/VK_DOWN to DateTime
control actually. So without this message implemented, nothing will be shown
after clicking the button.
Attached is a quick hack that made the application I tested happy. But we may
still need some tests for it for upstream.

Bug #: 30486
Summary: Tanner L-Edit shows blank hotkey field
Product: Wine
Version: 1.4
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: comctl32
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: dank(a)kegel.com
Classification: Unclassified
Tanner's L-Edit uses the msctls_hotkey32 control from comctl32
in its Setup / Application / Keyboard dialog, but under Wine,
the control is always blank. It should say 'None' (or the local equivalent)
initially. (The caret is positioned properly, though.)
'winetricks comctl32' works around the problem.
Wine's control works fine in a standalone demo.
The problem exists in many versions of the app, including the 7.12
Student Version downloadable from various sites as ledit.zip,
2972402 bytes, sha1sum f1a5825e63cee03f2cfb912cfa8d47c5a22aa684
That version requires 'winetricks mfc42' to start, and warns
about wanting 256 color mode. Using Xephyr to get 256 color mode
doesn't seem to help.

3. Right click TurnFlash's tray icon, then click on 'About'
The About window should fully display the following clickable URL:

I've added screenshots comparing Windows 10 and Wine.
Thank you.

ln.exe, a command line utility that works with hard links and symbolic links,
can crash during a "deloreon copy" (incremental backup). Specifically, the
command used was this:
ln --backup --unroll --1023safe --progress --delorean <source directory>
<previous backup dir> <new backup dir>
When it crashes, the terminal output says:
wine: Call from 7BC2980A to unimplemented function
KERNEL32.dll.FindFirstFileNameW, aborting
Sometimes the command completes without crashing, so apparently it doesn't
always call this function?
Note: the 32-bit version of ln.exe was used. I haven't tested the 64-bit
version.
