in cmd.exe, execute the following statement:
for %f in (*) do echo %f
On windows, you expect the files to be listed in lexicographically ascending
order, and some applications rely on that behaviour, one example being the
Gothic2 Modkit during Script parsing.
However, the order when executing this through wine seems random.

The Windows version of the game Into The Breach freezes when enabling
fullscreen in the game settings, and the only way to exit the game is to kill
the process.
The freeze does not happen if the game is started with fullscreen already on

game settings.

--> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=66814
Partial fix
Tested on git master. Regression was introduced by commit 9bc6f004ce, but that
commit is not the root cause.
The assertion `assert( obj->numRects <= nb_points / 2 );` would fail, but the
code actually crashes earlier due to memory corruption as obj->rects overflows.
In the normal case of nb_points == 0, ET->ymin..ymax are
2147483647..-2147483648, which makes the code iterate over zero scanlines as
ymax < ymin. However, in the crash case, ymin..ymax are -2147483648..378 (note
the negative ymin), so it tries to iterate over two billion scanlines and adds
rects to the obj until it crashes.
This happens because create_polypolygon_region gets passed an insane polygon
with a -2147483648,-2147483648 vertex.
The actual bug is in GdipWidenPath, which produces NaN float points, which get
converted to that insane int after rounding.
And this happens because Melodyne is passing in a degenerate path with the
first two points at the same position (added debugging trace to dump the path
points):
format: "index: [type] X, Y"
00df:err:gdiplus:GdipWidenPath 0: [0] 4.000000, 4.000946
00df:err:gdiplus:GdipWidenPath 1: [1] 4.000000, 4.000946
00df:err:gdiplus:GdipWidenPath 2: [3] 4.000000, 4.000946
00df:err:gdiplus:GdipWidenPath 3: [3] 4.000000, 4.000000
00df:err:gdiplus:GdipWidenPath 4: [3] 4.000000, 4.000000
The code goes GdipWidenPath -> widen_open_figure -> widen_cap, where the
segment length is computed as 0 and it ends up dividing by zero.
I'm not sure what Windows does here. add_bevel_point handles the special case
by just placing a point coincident with the path, ignoring the pen width.
The attached patch generalizes that to widen_cap as a whole. It fixes the
Melodyne crash for me, but I'm not sure if it's the correct behavior, and
degenerate segments will probably cause problems in other code paths (e.g.
add_anchor seems to have the same bug). Maybe a better solution would be to
just remove coincident points from the path before widening (being careful of
cases where the path ends up with one point after this). Someone with more
experience with the GDI code should look at this, and perhaps test it on
Windows to see how it behaves.

Summary: DbgHelp doesn't support DWARF-2 on Mac OS X
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.42
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Mac OS X 10.6
Status: UNCONFIRMED

AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: cdavis(a)mines.edu
Mac OS X has long had support for DWARF-2. Unfortunately, the current
implementation of DWARF-2 support in DbgHelp is tied to ELF. This means it
can't directly be used on Mac OS X, because Mac OS X does not support ELF.
I understand that getting things to work on Linux first takes priority over
getting them to work on Mac OS, but right now we Mac users are stuck with the
inferior stabs format. Plus, I get the feeling we're going to need this for
64-bit support. Also, DWARF happens to be the default format on 10.5 and up.
I also understand that the scheme that Apple uses is different from ELF
systems. Not only does DWARF-2 stuff get its own segment (__DWARF), but when
the binary is built, the DWARF stuff is put into a dSYM companion bundle. On
top of that, the dSYM bundle isn't even generated automatically for multi-file
builds. This means that:
- We have to invoke dsymutil to create the dSYM bundle.
- We have to install the dSYM bundle (if present) with each binary.
- We have to find the dSYM bundle to get DWARF-2 debug info.
I would be more than willing to help with this. (This might have even made a
good SoC project. Too late now...)

So, I have this installation of Adobe Premiere 6.5 in wine prefix. It was
rendering its own test project ok in winXP mode, so I moved along and updated
wine few times.
Turned out there was regression somewhere between wine 6.16 and wine 8.0-rc2,
where if I call About dialog it will display usual text, and then after pause
it should display various credit lines scrolling up.
I see sadly just first line and then white space after that in new wine. Same
prefix works if I re-install older wine 6.16 (compiled for earlier version of
Slackware)
I captured two log files with
WINEDEBUG="+gdi,+font" wine premiere.exe >
~/wine-8.12_gdi_font_adobe_premiere.log 2>&1
but they 34 and 52 Mb big (uncompressed).
Any idea where I can put them, or what I should capture instead?

In newer versions of Project64, GlideN64 is the default video plugin. When
using this plugin, games only show a black screen.
This is easy to reproduce with Project64 3.0.1. Install the application, and
run it. On first start, it will ask if you want to use the GlideN64 or
Project64 Video plugin. Choose GlideN64, then select a rom, and start. You may
need to resume emulation (press f2), but you'll only see a black screen.
If you remove 'C:\Program Files\Project64 3.0\Config\Project64.cfg', and rerun,
then select 'Project64 Video', and start a game (and resume), video works.
I tested Project64 on my windows partition, to make sure this hardware is
capable of running gliden64. On windows, gliden64 works.

Yes No
------------------------
It is the worst git bisect I've ever done. Apart from the lengthy time needed
to test each commit, the regression occurs within a range of 44 commits
(bb065801a69..2a8a4cbbe63), the first 43 of which all die on startup, so we
can't easily distinguish that bug from this one.
I've now had to make a separate branch, "git rebase --onto <that range>" to
copy commits from that range there, then "git rebase -i" to reorder them and
separate the startup-breaking commits (ntdll/kernel32/kernelbase) from the
other commits.
Unfortunately, having done so, it appears the startup-breaking commits are also
the commits that caused this regression. One or more of these is the culprit:
ntdll: Move kernel32 loading into LdrInitializeThunk().
ntdll: Return system dir path for PE mapping bootstrap placeholders.
ntdll: Fail to load non-existent dlls, except during prefix bootstrap.
ntdll: Also check syswow64 to determine if the prefix was initialized.
include: Add more SYSTEM_INFORMATION_CLASS definitions.
kernel32: Implement GetSystemCpuSetInformation().
ntdll: Implement NtQuerySystemInformationEx(SystemCpuSetInformation).
kernelbase: Don't fall back to dll loading for LOAD_LIBRARY_AS_DATAFILE.
ntdll: Set the window title to the image name on the Unix side.
ntdll: Remove load_builtin_dll() and get_load_order() from the Unix interface.
ntdll: Map the builtin or fake dll from the Wine dirs if it's missing from the
prefix.

Bug ID: 54028
Summary: [cause crash - two problem] dwrite function
"create_colorglyphenum" returns DWRITE_E_NOCOLOR and
causing null pointer crash on 7.12 but not on 7.22
Product: Wine
Version: 7.12
Hardware: x86
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: blocker
Priority: P2
Component: dwrite
Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
Reporter: 399989567(a)qq.com

(This problem can be reproduced without any account)
There are two problems here.I found out that the first problem existed in 7.12
and cause crash, but was fixed in 7.22 (doesn't exist). The second problem
exists in 7.22 and cause crash, but not in 7.12.
I found that the first problem has been fixed, so I would like to ask which
commit was fixed it (because there are many commits, I think the developer of
wine may know better and can give the answer at once,if You feel this bothered
you, first of all I'm sorry) .
The second issue renders the application completely unusable (QQ Music APP can
worked in 7.12, but not in 7.22)
--------
Question 1:
Describe the crash below (note that the font file msyh.ttf needs to be added in
the ./wine/fonts directory to trigger the crash)
> Let me explain here why the font msyh.ttf is added to the ./wine/fonts directory instead of using the original wine
> Because only after adding the font, QQ Music will call this function "create_colorglyphenum", which will cause a crash. If this font is not added, QQ Music will not call this function and use other logic.
> Because I don't have the source code of QQ Music, I don't know the logic of calling the function, so it is necessary to add this font file. The font file is added to reproduce the crash, not to change the wine.
Here's a description of how the crash happens:
Background:
In the QQ Music program, this APP want to use the font "Microsoft YaHei" to
output the four characters "QQ音乐". The function to call is:
dwritetextlayout_Draw -> QQMusic logic -> create_colorglyphenum -> crash
The cause of the crash is that in the function "create_colorglyphenum", there
is a judgment of "!colorfont".
> if (!colorfont)
> return DWRITE_E_NOCOLOR;
The "Microsoft YaHei" is not colorfont, it will return DWRITE_E_NOCOLOR
directly, thus triggering a null pointer crash. But I found that in the current
wine7.22, the same return here but no longer triggers the crash, so I would
like to ask which commit fixed this problem (the dichotomy method consumes a
lot of time, so I want to ask if you know the commit first, if You feel this
bothered you, first of all say sorry)
In summary,All you have to do is to add the font file, run the exe file I sent
with wine7.12 .
QQ Music official website link: https://y.qq.com/
(I will attach the corresponding exe installation package in the next reply,
the attached exe file is worried that you are inconvenient to download from the
official website)
crash information:
> 01d8:trace:dwrite:dwritefontface2_IsColorFont 03159B38.
> wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 00000000 at address 511406CB (thread 01d8), starting debugger...
--------
Question 2:
Use the original wine 7.22 without any modification, after installing QQ Music,
open the application, the application cannot be displayed (without any UI
interface),which makes the entire application unusable, but 7.12 can be
displayed UI and text normally.
Figure 1 shows how 7.12 can be displayed normally, and Figure 2 shows how 7.22
cannot display normally

I have one exe file which seems to be Photodex generated slideshow application.
It used to word perfectly with Wine in 2010-2012, but when I tried to run it
recently I got no output on screen.
Sound plays fine, and it looks like application window is created (it is
present on taskbar), but there is no window, no borders, no title, no output.
Well this slideshow runs fullscreen, but anyway no output.
I've managed to bisect this problem to:

Unfortunately code changed too much from that time, so git revert patch can't
be applied.

wineconsole.log
Wine compiled without ncurses.
When wineconsole is started, it shows white boxes instead of font. Log with
WINEDEBUG=+wineconsole attached.
This code is from 2002:
programs/wineconsole/user.c : line 442
/* FIXME:
* the current freetype engine (at least 2.0.x with x <= 8) and its
implementation
* in Wine don't return adequate values for fixed fonts
* In Windows, those fonts are expected to return the same value for
* - the average width
* - the largest width
* - the width of all characters in the font
* This isn't true in Wine. As a temporary workaround, we get as the width of
the
* cell, the width of the first character in the font, after checking that all
* characters in the font have the same width (I hear paranoia coming)
* when this gets fixed, the code should be using tm.tmAveCharWidth
* or tm.tmMaxCharWidth as the cell width.
*/
I tried comment font checking, then output is better, but font isn't
fixed-width (still smaller issue than white boxes instead of font).
In Ubuntu 12.04 is freetype 2.4.8, so IMHO we can rely on 2.4 series + ncurses
is default, so we can go ahead and fix it.

Summary: vbscript fails to handle ReDim when variable is not
yet created
Product: Wine
Version: 7.16
Hardware: x86-64
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: vbscript

While working on leveraging the vbscript engine of Wine for a macos/linux port
of Visual Pinball, I finally have the example table working and am starting to
work through the runtime errors.
Since the table scripts are often copies of copies of copied code, sometimes
bad practices make their way in.
Take the following code:
Const tnob = 5 ' total number of balls
ReDim rolling(tnob)
This works in real vbscript, but fails here.
As a work around, I've updated the script to:
Const tnob = 5 ' total number of balls
Dim rolling()
ReDim rolling(tnob)
According to the rules I've found:
It's possible to create a new dynamic array within a procedure using the ReDim
statement if the array to which it refers doesn't already exist at either
module or level. Typically, this results from an error of omission; the
programmer forgets to explicitly define the array using Dim, Public, or
Private. Since this method of creating an array can cause conflicts if a
variable or array of the same name is subsequently defined explicitly, ReDim
should be used only to redimension an existing array, not to define a new one.
