crap champions logs
When i launch a shooter game in steam with the waylanddriver the mouse gets
stuck in the middle of the screen. So the crosshair doesn't move.
When i try to change settings in the game and there is a slider there and i try
to slide it from left to right, it doesnt work. As soon as i try to drag it it
instantly snaps to 0 and doesn't move at all anymore.
Sadly the logs i have are only from proton tkg.
I already filed a bug on their github but they said its an upstream bug, so i
came here to report it.
I wanted to try it with windows steam through wine but i cant get it to run
with the waylanddriver. (I already filed a bug here.)
So i hope that this log helps anyway in some shape or form.
Battlebit logs (they are huge!):

everything works fine in x11.

When trying to use the 3D board (not the raytraced board), a dialog saying
Initializing 3D board pops up. It just hangs after a reasonable wait and the
dialog stays showing. No board is drawn. No interesting output occurs if
switching to a 2D board and back again (something hanging or a lock in the
initialisation maybe).
Workaround is to use the 2D board (untick use new 2D board).
See attached log which contains everything from opening the board (with its
other panes) to the dialog popping up (no further output).

Bug ID: 56843
Summary: wineandroid: fixing output on recent android versions.
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Hardware: aarch64
OS: Android
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
Reporter: twaikyont(a)gmail.com
Currently wineandroid relies on Gralloc V1 which is not an option on recent
android versions.
There is other acceptable solution.
You can pass Surface through Binder API so you will get ANativeWindow (or at
least Surface which can be converted to ANativeWindow) directly from Activity
instead of creating it with broken `alloc_win_data`.
Binder API is not available in regular processes, but you can use it in Java.
You can start java code from your Wine apk installed to system like
```
export CLASSPATH=<path to apk>
export LD_PRELOAD=<path to apk>!/lib/<ABI>/libwine.so # wher ABI is something
you can get with `Build.SUPPORTED_ABIS[0]`
/system/bin/app_process / your.class.name :0
```
And JVM will start the `static void main(String[] args);` from
`your.class.name`.
Getting path to apk will be like
```
/**
* Get the apk path of this application.
* @param context any context (e.g. an Activity or a Service)
* @return full apk file path, or null if an exception happened (it should not
happen)
*/
public static String getApkName(Context context) {
String packageName = context.getPackageName();
PackageManager pm = context.getPackageManager();
try {
return pm.getApplicationInfo(packageName, 0).publicSourceDir;
} catch (Throwable x) {
}
return null;
}
```
`main` function can be fully native so you can simply pass control to native
code right after starting process.
Of course wine's main executable should be built as a library to let JVM load
it via `System.loadLibrary`
C version of `main` can not use Java's `args` so it should be converted like
```
JNIEXPORT jboolean JNICALL
Java_wine_CmdEntryPoint_start(JNIEnv *env, __unused jclass cls, jobjectArray
args) {
pthread_t t;
// execv's argv array is a bit incompatible with Java's String[], so we do
some converting here...
int argc = (*env)->GetArrayLength(env, args) + 1; // Leading executable
path
char** argv = (char**) calloc(argc, sizeof(char*));
argv[0] = (char*) "wine";
for(int i=1; i<argc; i++) {
jstring js = (jstring)((*env)->GetObjectArrayElement(env, args, i -
1));
const char *pjc = (*env)->GetStringUTFChars(env, js, JNI_FALSE);
argv[i] = (char *) calloc(strlen(pjc) + 1, sizeof(char)); //Extra char
for the terminating NULL
strcpy((char *) argv[i], pjc);
(*env)->ReleaseStringUTFChars(env, js, pjc);
}
return main(argc, argv);
}
```
After this point you will be able to use java code and java Android APIs.
Next step is obtaining Binder connection to your activity. It is not very
straightforward but it is possible. Full code will be pretty much long so I
will simply put links to my project which works on Android 8+.
Pay attention to functions sendBroadcast and createContext (createContext is
used in static block in the end of file).
It requires exposing some private Android APIs, but it is not restricted if you
are using app_process this way.
https://github.com/termux/termux-x11/blob/master/app/src/main/java/com/term…
Make sure you are creating thread with performing `Looper.prepareMainLooper();`
and `Looper.loop()` to make sure Binder background requests will work fine in
static block (to make sure it will work before JVM invokes `main` function,
just for case it is `native`).
Next step will be acquiring Surface from Wine's activity.
Of course you can create AIDL with single function like `Surface getSurface(int
hwnd);` and obtain Surface directly from `alloc_win_data` or simillar function
via JNI.
But in my cases it did not work. I mean sending request from my process to
Activity which should respond with Surface object did not work.
But I succeeded passing Surface by sending requst from Activity to my process
containing Surface in arguments like `void pushSurface(in Surface surface, int
hwnd);`.
Binder request from Activity to your process will work in different thread
asyncronously so `alloc_win_data` should send surface request to activity and
wait for Binder response or timeout.
I hope I explained everything with enough details.
Thank you for your hard work.

Generating those index now will take hours, and will take the DB offline (which

The latest Skype desktop client for Windows (currently 7.23.0.105) does not
work with wine 1.9.9 but works fine with 1.9.7 and 1.9.8.
Starting Skype with 1.9.9 spits out various errors.
In some instances Skype.exe will go in an infinite loop and the debugger hangs,
other times the debugger exists instantly.
Exists cleanly:
wine: Unhandled exception 0xc0000409 in thread 9 at address 0x115d6b8 (thread
0009), starting debugger...
Hangs forever:
wine: Unhandled page fault on write access to 0x65756cf1 at address 0x63656ee6

I can attach more console output if needed.

MilkyTracker is an multi-platform music application for creating .MOD and .XM
module files.
https://github.com/milkytracker/MilkyTracker
Unfortunately, it doesn't work on WINE because it cannot open any waveout
device.
Sources of MilkyTracker do these actions:
1)
waveOutOpen(&hwo, WAVE_MAPPER, &format, 0, 0, CALLBACK_NULL);
This call is a success and it returns a valid handle.
2)
waveOutGetID(hwo,(LPUINT)&waveOutID);
This call also returns success and it returns a value of 63 into "waveOutID".
BUT THIS IS WRONG. "waveOutID" should be equal to WAVE_MAPPER, which equal to
-1, as you can see in point (1).
3)
waveOutGetDevCaps((UINT)waveOutID, &waveoutcaps, sizeof(waveoutcaps));
As result, this call to waveOutGetDevCaps() fails with return value of
MMSYSERR_BADDEVICEID.
Here there is the point where there is the code that I'm talking about:
https://github.com/milkytracker/MilkyTracker/blob/4f97b7011b20519890e30368e…
The cause of the trouble is the way the function waveOutGetID() is implemented.
waveOutGetID() calls WINMM_GetDeviceFromHWAVE().
And WINMM_GetDeviceFromHWAVE() calls WINMM_DecomposeHWAVE()
Into WINMM_DecomposeHWAVE(), there are these lines:
ULONG32 l = HandleToULong(hwave);
*device_index = l & 0xFF;
But this is wrong, because *device_index will be never able to return -1 that
is the value for WAVE_MAPPER.

After I upgraded Wine from version 9.10 to 9.17, Audacity has become horrible

I've always been using DPI=144 because I have a High DPI 14" monitor.
So,
* Fonts in Audacity have become much smaller than they were before
* Fonts now look very blurry
A screenshot will be attached.
On the outside of Audacity you can see IrfanView which continues to scale
properly and fonts are rendered just fine.

I have a Pascal (Dephi) app that runs well under Wine application layer.
The problem is that there are a number of edit controls that will only show in
full screen under Wine.
This would be an example of a procedure to create a editable window using Alt-D
WM_INITDIALOG:
begin
Windows.SetWindowText(hwnddlg, RC_DUPECHECKOAR);
Format(TempBuffer1, TC_ENTERCALLTOBECHECKEDON,
BandStringsArray[InActiveRadioPtr.BandMemory],
ModeStringArray[InActiveRadioPtr.ModeMemory]);
CreateStatic(TempBuffer1, 15, 3, 250, hwnddlg, 102);
AltDEditWindowHandle := CreateEdit(ES_CENTER or ES_UPPERCASE or WS_BORDER,
15, 27, 250, 30, hwnddlg, 101);
asm
mov edx,[MainWindowEditFont]
call tWM_SETFONT
end;
CreateOKCancelButtons(hwnddlg);
The above CreateEdit dutifully creates a window under Win7.
Ubuntu (kernel 3.16) will only display as fullscreen.
Under linux I can grab the title bar and move the f/s window but nothing else.
Right clicking on the title bar i have options Restore, Resize, Maximize
selected.

There appears to be some sort of bug/incompatibility with Wine, 32-bit OpenGL
programs, and the official nVidia graphics drivers for Linux.
When testing an old 32-bit OpenGL game based on the Quake III engine (Medal of
Honor: Allied Assault, or MOHAA), I get unexpected crashes at application
launch, with the following error:
X Error of failed request: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)
Major opcode of failed request: 156 (NV-GLX)
Minor opcode of failed request: 43 ()
Serial number of failed request: 29067
Current serial number in output stream: 29068
This occurs when testing with a 32-bit or 64-bit prefix, and has occurred on
every version of Wine (and Proton) I've ever tried, going back several years,
up to the current version (9.7). I have also tried numerous versions of the
nVidia drivers, and am currently on the latest version (550.76-1). I am using
Arch Linux.
The game runs without this issue on the integrated AMD GPU (Ryzen 5800h APU).
The error occurs only for Wine programs. The error occurs if using the
discrete (RTX 3070 laptop) GPU in "dedicated" mode, as well as in hybrid mode
("prime-run ...").
Non-wine 32-bit OpenGL programs do not experience this problem. E.g.
glxgears32 works fine on the discrete GPU. Similarly, 64-bit e.g. Vulkan games
work fine on the integrated and discrete GPU.
This same game in a native Linux binary (MOHAA) also runs without experiencing
this issue (it has other issues unrelated to this, as the binary was a
pre-release beta...I mention it for comparison purposes).
I have researched this problem at length, and although there are anecdotes of
others running into these same errors with various OpenGL programs, there is no
apparent solution and I suspect most people just give up, or end up using
different hardware.

The game launches normally using the AMDGPU drivers on the 5800h, but throws

concerns: https://wiki.winehq.org/Debian
sources.list(5) says /usr/share/keyrings for keyrings managed by packages and
/etc/apt/keyrings for keyrings managed by the system operator. This was added
2022-05-23 to the https://wiki.debian.org/DebianRepository/UseThirdParty guide
"Recommend /etc/apt/keyrings for locally-managed keys, as per apt 2.4.0
changelog".
Also starting with apt version 2.4.0 is when /etc/apt/keyrings directory gets
introduced to be installed/created by the apt package itself. This corresponds
to Debian 12/Ubuntu 22. Previous to Debian 12/Ubuntu 22 the user will have to
create this directory. There was previously /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d but that has
special meaning (as does /usr/share/keyrings itself being a system directory
not something for the system operator). The recommendation is /etc/apt/keyrings
so add to the WineHQ install instructions:
sudo mkdir -m755 -p /etc/apt/keyrings # not needed since apt version 2.4.0 like
Debian 12 and Ubuntu 22 or newer
The .sources files will need to be updated.
Alternatively if there was a package generated to manage installation of the
key to /usr/share/keyrings that could be a valid option.

I noticed that when I remap keys in KDE (such as "Left Alt is swapped with Left
Win" in keyboard settings), it's not working with winewayland but works as
expected with winex11 (in XWayland mode).
In particular, in Cyberpunk 2077 when I try to bind some action to a key it
detects "Super_L" (aka Win key) as Alt when XWayland / winex11 are used, but
with winewayland it doesn't and detects actual Alt as Alt ignoring KDE's
override.
Not sure if it's something incomplete on KDE's side or winewayland is doing
something strange?
It happens with KDE Plasma 6.1.4.

"[Running colasoft mac scan in wine complains

So I downloaded it and tried it.
It found my IP address right away, so that's fine.
But it wasn't able to actually scan for MAC addresses; it
had lots of
fixme:iphlpapi:SendARP (DestIP 0xda01a8c0, SrcIP 0x00000000, pMacAddr
0x7abcc808, PhyAddrLen 0x7abcc7fc): stub

probably to send the packet, wait a millisec, then do
ioctl SIOCGARP. (Or the command arp -n W.X.Y.Z. Or look in /proc/net/arp.)
It'd be cheesy beans to implement, if anybody cares to.

The issue is about pressing the combination of CTRL + sys keys from the right
side numeric keypad of the keyboard:
CTRL-[/]
CTRL-[*]
CTRL-[-]
CTRL-[+]
It can be reproduced in Notepad.
In Notepad under Windows these sequences will do nothing.
In Notepad under Wine these sequences will cause the character to be added to
the document.
Perhaps it is related to 'TranslateAccelerator' API but this is just a guess.
The real problem is with 'Notepad++' where these sequences are the default
accelerators for zoom control so chars are added to the document whenever zoom
is changed.

Gur

Some applications tend to reset the X color profile when they start. This
profile is set by xcalib and shouldn't be mindlessly messed with.
I could not determinate a pattern as to which programs do this. It seems games
are especially prone.
A simple test case:
Get xcalib, and use it to set some random color profile, such as with
xcalib -a -gc 5
Get CPU-Z. There is a simple no-installation zip available. Click away the
initial error message and then watch as it resets the profile as it loads

When I disable desktop effects in kde (shift+alt+f12) I can still get back into

Dear Wine Staging,
Fedora 41
wine-9.15-1.fc41.x86_64
wine-9.15-1.fc41.i686
I installed a new Brother HL-L2300D printer. At first I used the Brother RPM
and it worked fine. Then I upgrades to the OWN drives. Everything was fine
until I tried to print envelopes. The OWN ppd is missing envelope definitions.
So I removed it and reinstalled the Brother ppd. Install and removal of
printers was done with https://127.0.0.1:631 (CUPS web interface).
The Linux side was completely happy with the process. But Wine was not. I
could not get rid of the OWN drivers in Wine.
Searching my drive for ppd's for the HL-L2300D, I found that Wine was
collecting them. Erasing them and restarting "Envelope Printer" and happy
camping returned.
Please stop collecting ppd's. Only import what CUPS has configured. And
remove what is no longer in CUPS.
By the way, the "Brother_HL_L2300D_series_rn6.en.ppd" was the correct ppd from
Brother. You will note it does not appear on the WINE list.

After upgrading to 10.0-rc1 something is broken.
- winefcg starts explorer but that's all. no window.
- "wine COMMAND" starts explorer but again, COMMAND is not started
- click on icon (I'm using virtual desktop) starts application and it runs
- in case of Battle.net.exe, when trying to start game, again, nothing visible
everything worked with wine-staging 9.22 (at least, it started, that I'm
testing after every update)

`winecfg`, `wine explorer`, any program at all ... only runs if the Z: is set
to the root of the file-system e.g. `Z:=/`.
In previous versions; this was not required and I don't think this should be
necessary.
Using a virtual desktop, the output of running (say) `winecfg` once Z: is set
to (for example) my home folder `/home/user1234` is a blank virtual desktop
window. Eventually I see in the terminal:
0024:err:environ:run_wineboot boot event wait timed out
If I kill the process for wineboot.exe and explorer.exe; then the virtual
desktop respawns and the program runs. Thus, I imagine the issue lies within
wineboot.

We would like to split the AppDB and Bugzilla databases onto different hosts.
But right now this is impossible due to some queries doing a joins between
bugzilla and the appdb.
These will need to be re-written to do it in a different way.
The worst offender is testData.php ShowVersionsTestingTable method on line 685.
I'm sure there are other places as well.

I tried to find out what reason may be causing this slow connection:
First I pinged winehq.org. To have a reference I did the same to the "White
House" in Washington D.C. They may have a fast connection to Europe. To get an
other reference my next target was the "Hennepin County Library". I never was
there but the German Wikipedia linked to it.
An other reference was the City of Minneapolis.
All are faster than the connection to WinHQ (according to my info Winhq and
maybe also their servers, are there)
Please see the protocol attached to this bug.

It may be inacceptible for users living in jurisdictions with oppressive
regimes requiring all the email providers either collect the personal data
tying an account to a government-issued ID or being blocked. For example
cellphone numbers.
Now most of email providers require cellphone number validation. But not all.
Ironically the only email providers not enforcing this I know are Russian ones.
But the State Duma is preparing a law requiring all the email providers to do
that, so I expect there will be no free email providers not doing that
(probably except Riseup, but I won't use Riseup services).
So it is important to allow users contribute without having a email addreess.
For access recovery crypto protocols or a sheet of one-time passwords can be
used.

registering for an account I'm not getting the activation mail.
It says to "contact an administrator", but not how; I can't see any "Contact
Us" links on the forum pages. phpBB only mentions that "Contact Us" for getting
stuff to the administrators is a standard feature and always available IF IT IS
ENABLED, which I guess it's not.
I'm aware this may not be the greatest channel to look for a resolution of my
particular issue, I'm very happy to be pointed somewhere "better". ;-)

1. Download chromium from
http://build.chromium.org/f/chromium/snapshots/Win/95816/chrome-win32.zip
unpack chrome-win32.zip, cd to the directory.
2. start chrome.exe with --no-sandbox, works around Bug 21232
$ wine chrome.exe --no-sandbox
Notice that the chrome window is decorated by the Linux native window manager.
Is it a bug? On windows, chrome have no traditional "window bar".
Now there is two "Maximal" button: one is drawn by Linux native window manager,
the other is drawed by wine chrome browser it self.
3. Click on the "Maximal" button which is drawn by Linux native window manager,
then chrome browser switch to maximal mode as expect.
This time, the Linux native window bar is disappear.
4. Click on the "Restore" button of wine chrome browser. However it doesn't
work. Wine chrome switch to normal mode for a second, then switch back to
maximal mode automatically.
I use ubuntu 11.04 , with traditional gnome desktop, gnome 2.32.1 .
There is some ways to work around:
I. Instead of clicking on the native "Maximal" button in step 3, try to click
the wine chrome "Maximal" button, then everything works as expect.
II. Do not set "Allow the window manager to decorate the windows" in winecfg,
then everything works as expect.
III. Do not set "Allow the window manager to control the windows" in winecfg,
then everything works as expect.

return STATUS_NOT_A_REPARSE_POINT instead of STATUS_INVALID_PARAMETER
Hi.
With the recent rustup 1.27.0 using wine-staging with the
ntdll-Junction_Points patches, the toolchain installation doesn't complete
properly, failing to write to the settings.toml under the prefix home .rustup
directory info.
A bug with the same root cause is also present on rustup 1.26.0 where while the
installation was completing properly, it was failing to remove the
.rustup/tmp/* directories, causing issues with subsequent installations.
Both bugs express the same behavioral pattern with few differences. I
investigated the directory bug firstly, so I will detail this, and confirmed
that the problem and the expected solution are the same.
Rustup (or one of it's dependency managing files) get the handle of the
temporary directory using CreateFileW and then checking if it's a reparse point
using DeviceIoControl with FSCTL_GET_REPARSE_POINT.
The directories (and the file) aren't reparse points at all, so the readlink
fails returining EINVAL.
This EINVAL is then mapped to an NT_STATUS using errno_to_status that map
EINVAL to STATUS_INVALID_PARAMETER.
However this mapping is incorrect for FSCTL_GET_REPARSE_POINT as in this case
applications that handle this case like rustup try to handle this case by
epxecting STATUS_NOT_A_REPARSE_POINT.
Returning STATUS_NOT_A_REPARSE_POINT in this case allow rustup to work (both
versions )
Attaching a patch to show the change in the file.c code (and restored also the
out_buffer check)

The current codebase is not compatible with PHP8. We are stuck on 7.4.
The main issue is how all the objects are setup. PHP8 requires you define a
constructor as __construct, but the AppDB is using the old method of naming the
constructor the same as the object itself. While you could just rename all
those to __construct, there are places in the objects where the code refers to
$this->className(), these would need to be changed to $this->__construct() or
parent::__construct if called from a child class
There are other PHP8 issues to be solved as well. Things like some built in
functions changing how the null type is handled.

Summary: Bad performance when combineng SetEvent /
WaitForSingleObject for synchronizing worker threads
Product: Wine
Version: 1.6.2
Hardware: x86-64
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: kernel32
Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
Reporter: milasudril(a)gmail.com
In a 2d simulation program, each worker thread has its own pair of events. One
event is used to signal master thread that the worker thread is ready. The
other is used by the master thread to signal that the worker thread may
continue.
In Master thread:
while(!m_stop)
{
auto proc_ptr=processors.begin();
while(proc_ptr!=processors.end())
{
// Call SetEvent on "start" event object owned by the object pointed
// to by proc_ptr
proc_ptr->frameNext();
++proc_ptr;
}
proc_ptr=processors.begin();
while(proc_ptr!=processors.end())
{
// Call WaitForSingleObject on "ready" event object owned by
// the object pointed to by proc_ptr
proc_ptr->wait();
++proc_ptr;
}
++framecounter;
}
In worker thread:
while(!m_stop)
{
// Wait for master thread signaling start event (Calls
WaitForSingleObject)
start.wait();
m_model->process(m_framecounter,m_buffers[0].first
,m_buffers[0].second,m_offset);
swap(m_buffers[0],m_buffers[1]);
// Signal master thread that we are ready for next frame (Calls SetEvent)
ready.set();
}
On Wine, the framerate is half of that on Windows 7 on the same machine
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3570K CPU @ 3.40GHz. Also there seems to be a huge
different workload on differnt cores when running under Wine.
I realize that SetEvent/WaitForSingleObject are heavy functions on Windows too
as they need kernel assistance, so it might be hard to make it perform better.

Good looking with a native gdiplus
With a builtin gdiplus, there is a problem with coloring the cases of channel.
Problem does not occur with a native gdiplus dll. Compare the two screenshot:
the first one with native dll, the second one with the builtin dll.
Note the behaviour in a real Windows 10 box is the behaviour of the native dll.
So, there is a problem with the builtin dll.

resulting in unusably low performance. As far as I can tell, this is not caused
by DXVK or my graphics drivers. I don't think I should fully repeat myself

d9d700f3328f00ec419571df0e02cef208fa1e7b, or new regressions have happened
since.
With Wine 10.0-rc3, in a WINEPREFIX where "winetricks vc2005express" was done,
and then Visual Studio is started (via "Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Express
Edition.lnk" in C:\users\...) these packages fail to load:
Visual Studio XML Editor Package
Windows Forms Designer Package
Windows Forms Designer Resources Package
Visual Studio Explorers and Designers Package
and new projects cannot be created ("VC package not available or not
registered").
If restarted (any number of times), these packages fail to load:
Visual Studio Explorers and Designers Package
Visual Studio Common IDE Package
and it still cannot create new projects.

A following run of the ntdll:reg test makes wineserver crash.

Also backtraces of the req_create_key, req_delete_key

It looks like the key gets deleted but somehow some parent references
