Bug ID: 52239
Summary: Partially invisible URL in TurnFlash's About window
Product: Wine
Version: 6.23
Hardware: x86-64
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
Reporter: oguilherme(a)protonmail.com
Distribution: ---
Steps to reproduce:
1. Download TurnFlash v2.10: https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/tflash210.zip (ZIP
file SHA1: 63ae606aee64259091e7f82436d4ecdf3a6e9047)
2. Extract and run tflash.exe
3. Right click TurnFlash's tray icon, then click on 'About'
The About window should fully display the following clickable URL:
http://nirsoft.mirrorz.com
But on Wine 6.23 it currently displays:
http://
I've added screenshots comparing Windows 10 and Wine.
Thank you.

Summary: Toolbar buttons can be activated without a proper
click
Product: Wine
Version: 1.6
Platform: x86-64

Minimized (110 lines) testcase; includes source and 32bit binary
Steps to reproduce:
1. Open the attached testcase, or anything else with a toolbar (I did nothing
weird with the testcase).
2. Click and hold the mouse on any non-disabled toolbar button
3. Move the mouse to any other toolbar button, disabled or not; release the
mouse
Expected result: The button is not activated, since the mouse was depressed
while hovering over another button. This is also the result on Windows 7 64bit.
Actual result: The button is activated. This can even be done if the button is
disabled, which can give all kinds of strange results in apps that assume
disabled buttons are not triggerable.
To guarantee there is no weird config nearby, I have tested it with a live CD
in a virtual machine. Linux Mint 15 MATE, 64bit; wine1.6-0ubuntu1. I'd use 1.7
if it was in the PPA, but I don't think I have enough RAM to compile Wine on
that VM.

Wine 9.16 console output
Following a successful installation the Steam client main window never loads.
In the background the GPU process continually dies and respawns. The Steam logs
confirm this is what is happening.
The usual workaround is installing the corefonts (Bug 56624 -> Bug 32342), but
this does not work for the pre-compiled DEB packages. If I build Wine myself
the workaround works as expected.
I tried adding the CFLAGS apparently used by the OpenSUSE build system but it
doesn't cause the error.
CFLAGS='-O2 -Wall -U_FORTIFY_SOURCE -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=3
-fstack-protector-strong -funwind-tables -fasynchronous-unwind-tables
-fstack-clash-protection -Werror=return-type -g'
https://build.opensuse.org/public/build/openSUSE:Factory/standard/x86_64/wi…
I'm guessing it is down to some combination of differing library versions.
Tried -no-cef-sandbox but it made no difference.
Workaround is to build Wine myself (Debian Stable in my case).

patch
SASL2 plugin in libs/ldap/libldap/sasl_w.c doesn't follow the rfc4752
specification in several ways, and it looks like it was never tested with
Kerberos since it queries the key info using
QueryContextAttributesA(SECPKG_ATTR_KEY_INFO) however this attribute is not
supported neither by Wine Kerberos implementation nor by Kerberos in Windows
10. Actually SSF (SASL Security Strength Factor) value returned by the plugin
is never used by libldap, so it's not necessary to set SSF to anything but 1.
Besides, dlls/kerberos uses constants for trailer, signature and max buffer
size that no longer work with modern implementations. Also at least the
Kerberos servers I was testing with use trailer length either 64 or 60, so I
had to add a patch to query Kerberos security trailer length from the context,
otherwise it's not possible to correctly encode/decode LDAP messages and server
responses.
I'm attaching a patch that makes Kerberos authentication work again.

ln.exe, a command line utility that works with hard links and symbolic links,
can crash during a "deloreon copy" (incremental backup). Specifically, the
command used was this:
ln --backup --unroll --1023safe --progress --delorean <source directory>
<previous backup dir> <new backup dir>
When it crashes, the terminal output says:
wine: Call from 7BC2980A to unimplemented function
KERNEL32.dll.FindFirstFileNameW, aborting
Sometimes the command completes without crashing, so apparently it doesn't
always call this function?
Note: the 32-bit version of ln.exe was used. I haven't tested the 64-bit
version.

solution I found is to change the graphics mode from d3d/TNL within the game(it
does not matter which order, just change them) and the graphics are normal one
the screen refershes. The artifacts return upon exiting an re-opening the
application. This is same with at least intel and radeon cards and different

During the opening scene of a new game of Dyson Sphere Program on Steam there
is an unusual white triangle that clearly shouldn't be there. Indeed, it isn't
there on Windows 10.

I can't figure out what should be there instead. It looks to me like nothing.

No demo that I know of.
VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GK104GL [Quadro K5000] (rev a1)
(prog-if 00 [VGA controller])
Kernel modules: nvidiafb, nouveau, nvidia_drm, nvidia
Using the latest Nvidia drivers that support my hardware:
470.199.02-0ubuntu0.22.04.1
Tried setting the shader to "arb" but it made no difference.
Setting the shader to "none" upgrades the triangle to a full sphere surrounded
the ship, which is obviously not better.

I came across a upstream bug where The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel
could not play FMV and crashes on load. Upon consideration of the error, I
decided that the problem is a upstream one and thus I should report to Wine
developers.
Wine was crashing because the game was calling an unimplemented function called
_wsplitpath_s from ntdll.dll. This call was not made if the option to skip all
FMVs are selected in the game's configuration utility, and thus I have reason
to believe that the game uses this for FMV playback.

When you attempt to resize a user form on an EXCEL macro in both O2007 and
O2010 the window freezes and you have to open back the user form. However when
you change the value of "width" and "height" manually it does seem to work.
This happens on both NVIDIA graphics and Intel Graphics no idea about AMD but I
expect the same bug.
When running EXCEL from terminal, I can see two fixme logs that occurs
everytime I click on the corners of a user form:

MS Word with no problem except. It doesn't type Arabic in the right manner.
Arabic is not connected, typed from left to right and some times it places the
last letter of a word in between and connects the letter with broken connection
or skipped ones. Also words order is left to right.
I attached one pic showing:
MS Word (wrong Arabic representation) and bellow it

Last night (2022-08-18) Blizzard released an update for Warcraft III Reforged
from version 1.32.x to 1.33.0.19194.
Since then the main menu of the game is just black!
But I can hear the sound of the main menu.
I attached a STDOUT/STDERR log.
Version 1.32.x of the game was running fine using wine-staging-7.14.
(didn't test any other wine version before)

Wine log of running the launcher
The SWTOR launcher is unable to patch itself, or to patch the game, and hence
refuses to start the game even if it is actually up to date. However, it works
on Linux Mint 19.3 (with the Xenial packages; the recommended bionic packages
do not install).
Debug output from Wine is not obviously helpful. Logs from SWTOR show an
UnzipFailed error which is suspicious. Wine logs show nothing obviously
helpful.
I am using all the usual precautions for SWTOR:
- Run the original installer in wine-devel. The installer does not work with
staging. However, the patcher has the same issues on both.
- On an affected system, the launcher hangs trying to patch itself, with errors
in the SWTOR log. This can be fixed using the launcher repair utility. On Mint,
it shows a bunch of assertion error dialogs, and works.
- Login and accept the EULA, at this point it will complain about BitRaider.
Exit and modify launcher.settings as usual to turn off BitRaider.
- At this point, on Mint, Wine 5.11 is downloading the game successfully. On
any version of Debian, it shows the error "Unable to retrieve patch data.
Please check network connection. (206)". The TOR log shows the unzip error. I
think the unzip error and the problems with the patcher patching itself are
probably the same bug.
This stopped working around the time of Wine 5.10, I think because of an update
to the launcher. It does not work on Debian 9, 10 or 11 on staging 5.11. On
Debian 11, it does not work on staging 5.11 or devel 5.12.

Sometime after Wine 8.11, the OSS driver sends to the device node one higher

picked in winecfg, the "Test Sound" goes to one higher than chosen.
In my case, the speakers are on /dev/dsp4. In the log, that device is
considered the default devnode. However, the devnode chosen for output is
/dev/dsp5. If I chose /dev/dsp3 specifically, then the audio will be output
via the speakers.
It definitely looks like an off-by-one bug.

When I use WINE to start Monkey Island 2: Special Edition (from GOG), the
screen turns black. Pressing ESC closes the game (with the full-screen, black
window), and I can see the attached output in my terminal.
I should be able to switch to another desktop and get a debug trace when the
black game window is on the screen, if you'd like me to do that.
I'm using 375.26 of NVidia's drivers. While I started having WINE issues
(including this one) after the driver upgrade, and I've recently had similar
issues with Shantae: Pirate's Curse (also from GOG), everything other than
WINE seems to be working fine.

last step of bisect for steam client launch failure
I recently tried to run steam client on upstream wines and found that the
client will not start on any wine version 8.19 or above. I bisected the
problem to the update to mono 8.1.0. The last stage of bisect is attached.
When starting the client a ton of processes get created and then "Maximum
number of clients reached" messages get spammed infinitely on the console.
OS: Linux 5.15.140 Dist: Slackware 15.0 64 CPU: 9900k GPU: RTX 4070
I found a workaround to the problem to shut off mono as follows:
export WINEDLLOVERRIDES="mscoree="
This workaround seems OK since I don't think steam client itself relies on mono
but I am not sure some of the apps it launches wont.
Any tips or ideas what might be happening here would be appreciated. No issues
with the older wine versions up to 8.18 ran steam with mono enabled fine so I
am pretty sure some update in mono 8.10 is triggering the problem. There is a
good chance this is related to Slackware 15.0 distribution and has nothing to
do with wine or mono issue but I don't know where to start looking for the
breakage.export WINEDLLOVERRIDES="mscoree="

This issue happens on certain maps in Halo Online depending on what your
current Z position is. Not all maps suffer from it, only certain ones do. If
you're above the Z position that it begins happening at, everything below
renders normally, but once you go below it, a portion of the frame becomes
black. It seems to be in a pattern. Not all objects are blacked out, either. So
there must be some sort of "priority".

libHttpClient is the web socket abstraction layer for Xbox Live titles on
various platforms; on Windows it uses winhttp for http sources. Two example
games using this library are Gears 5 and Halo: The Master Chief collection.
One part of the implementation handles certificate authentication; in
particular it handles ERROR_WINHTTP_CLIENT_AUTH_CERT_NEEDED, which according to
MSDN should be handled by calling WinHttpQueryOption with
WINHTTP_OPTION_CLIENT_CERT_ISSUER_LIST, so that it can attempt to find a
relevant certificate chain and re-attempt the connection if a cert is found.
Luckily, libHttpClient is open source, so the exact block that does this can be
found here:
https://github.com/microsoft/libHttpClient/blob/1c8386866fb180dd31890186291…
As of the latest Git revision, Wine does not handle this parameter, so the
default case is tripped:

Behavior of SHFileOperation differs from windows.
Here is some trivial code that copies a directory:
const wchar_t *const sourceDir = L"C:\\TestDir\0\0";
const wchar_t *const destDir = L"C:\\TestDir2\0\0";
SHFILEOPSTRUCTW do_copy = { 0 };
do_copy.wFunc = FO_COPY;
do_copy.fFlags = FOF_NOCONFIRMMKDIR | FOF_NOCONFIRMATION | FOF_NO_UI;
do_copy.pFrom = sourceDir;
do_copy.pTo = destDir;
SHFileOperationW(&do_copy);
If you add trailing backslash to destDir:
const wchar_t *const destDir = L"C:\\TestDir2\\\0\0";
On Windows result would be the same. However, on WINE+linux result would be
different:
no backslashes:
$ls TestDir
file.txt Subdir1 Subdir2
$ls TestDir2
file.txt Subdir1 Subdir2
with trailing backslash:
$ls TestDir
file.txt Subdir1 Subdir2
$ls TestDir2
TestDir
This causes issues with programs that rely on Windows behavior.

Summary: Ableton Live: multicore audio processing causes high
CPU usage across multiple audio backends
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Hardware: x86-64
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
Reporter: sirwinstoncat5(a)gmail.com
Distribution: Ubuntu
When running Ableton Live, if multicore audio processing is enabled, CPU usage
will drastically increase, causing unpredictable audio crackles and overall
unstable performance.
The easiest way to test this is using Ableton Live 9; Live 10 also has the same
issue, but multicore audio processing is permanently turned on.
- Open an empty Live Set. (By default, this has 4 empty tracks, a reverb
effect, and a delay effect: a negligible amount of audio processing.)
- In Ableton's preferences, under the CPU tab, disable multicore audio
processing. Observe the built-in CPU meter in the upper-right corner; it should
sit very low (0-1% on my system).
- Enable multicore audio processing. Even with an empty Set, observe that the
CPU meter jumps to at least 10-20%. On Windows, idle CPU usage should remain
identical between single and multicore modes.
- Attempt playback of a nontrivial Set; for example, a few tracks of recorded
audio. A Set that plays back fine in single-core mode will exhibit
unpredictable audio crackling and rapid spikes in CPU usage when using
multicore mode.
I have tested this across multiple versions of Ableton (various versions of 9
and 10 both exhibit this issue), multiple audio interfaces from various
manufacturers (Behringer X32, NI Audio Kontrol 1, onboard chipset audio,
PreSonus FireStudio), and even multiple audio backends (winepulse,
wineasio->JACK). The issue seems to be most pronounced when using pulseaudio,
but it is present across all audio backends.
Most importantly, this issue can be duplicated using wineasio and a JACK server
with the dummy backend (aka not connected to any audio interface).
I am unsure where to start collecting logs for this. One guess: perhaps there
is some sort of delay or sleep occuring while a mutex is being held?
This is possibly related to #47458; however, that specifically refers to a test
case for PulseAudio, whereas this bug occurs across backends.

Searching the quoted string on the web shows that it's related to Chrome [1],
thus Chrome Embedded Framework too (libCEF).
The constant flow of messages fills the HD with several MB after a few hours.
It may be an application bug, but I can't compare to Windows because there is
no output at all when running steam from the Windows command prompt.

Starting Steam and going to the menu bar -> Steam and moving the mouse cursor
over the entry "Check for Steam Client Updates..." and then stopping the mouse
results that the mouse cursor is showing the I symbol (the cursor symbol that
for example also appears if moving the mouse cursor over a text area). Moving
the mouse shows the normal mouse cursor again but stopping the mouse on the
entry again shows the I symbol again. A workaround seems to be to close the
menu and reopening it.

The Command & Conquer 3 Demo (and Kane's Wrath full game) exits silently if
alt-tabbing out of the game, then back in.
Using a virtual desktop (of any size) stops this occurring. The game itself
"escapes" the virtual desktop and runs in full screen, but this turns out to be
a good thing.
My process:
1. Install demo (used WINEARCH=win32 but that's not necessary).
2. Set resolution to 1920x1200.
3. Start a skirmish.
4. Alt-tab out.
5. Alt-tab back in.

Bug ID: 40416
Summary: Attempts to open some dialogs causing programs to
softlock
Product: Wine
Version: 1.9.7
Hardware: x86-64
OS: Mac OS X
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
Reporter: hagepri2013(a)gmail.com
In some programs, attempting to open certain dialogs causes the program to
freeze without responding. This behavior can be observed in the most recent
version of 0CC-Famitracker, found here: http://hertzdevil.info/programs/
Attempting to open the configuration dialog (marked by a hammer in the top bar)
will cause the program to hang. The program will also hang when attempting to
modify any new instrument.
Is there some bug with Wine dispatching Windows dialogs? This program is
developed in Visual Studio 2015.
http://prntscr.com/ao0x5n
This screenshot depicts the button which will cause the hang. The program will
continue to produce sound and the oscilloscope will continue to move as well,
but the rest of the program will freeze.

Wine vs WinXP
There are at least 3 missing control buttons in Cyberboard Player. Attachment
shows that better. I tried many wine versions since 0.9.49 till
1.2-rc3, but it probably never worked correctly.
To reproduce: "File" -> "Open" -> "GenericGame.gam"
I left this in UNCONFIRMED, but someones confirmation is welcomed ;)

Bug ID: 45769
Summary: 0CC-FamiTracker etc. crashes after saving, due to
AfxFormatString1(out=in)
Product: Wine
Version: 3.14
Hardware: x86-64

Severity: normal
Priority: P2

0CC-FamiTracker 0.3.14.5 (http://hertzdevil.info/programs/0CCft_v0314r5.7z )
and my j0CC fork
(https://github.com/jimbo1qaz/j0CC-FamiTracker/releases/download/j0.6.0a/j0C…
) crash after saving.
Confirmed on multiple machines including Ubuntu with 3.14 and 3.15, and a
Debian x64 VM with a .wine created under Debian version, and upgraded to 3.0.2.
Instructions:
- Open 0CC (and optionally open an existing file.
- Press Space (to enable editing) and mash the keyboard a bit to enter notes.
- Press Ctrl+S and specify a filename.
- Mash a few keys and press Ctrl+S a few times.
At this point 0CC will usually crash with an assertion error in CString, often
with a backtrace consisting of a single entry of 0x0. One time I got a
backtrace pointing to MFC UI code.
------------
I think this is a memory corruption issue arising from calling
`AfxFormatString1(text, IDS_FILE_SAVED, text);` with the same input and output
=
https://github.com/HertzDevil/0CC-FamiTracker/blob/v0.3.14.5/Source/FamiTra…
But it doesn't crash on Windows. Is that a program bug or Wine bug?
- I think MFC is statically linked.
I thought it was a regression from some unknown earlier revision, but I
installed a Debian Stretch 64 VM, `apt-get install wine wine32`
(https://packages.debian.org/stretch/wine = 1.8.7-2), and `wine
0CC-FamiTracker.exe` experiences the same issue. Maybe the crash doesn't
manifest on Wine 32? IDK.
-----------
The code in question has been removed from 0CC, and I will be including a
workaround (don't call AfxFormatString1(out=in)) into j0CC soon.

Summary: Heavy Metal Pro page faults when using "open from"
Product: Wine
Version: 1.7.9
Hardware: x86-64

Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: comctl32
Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
Reporter: liquitsnake(a)gmx.net
Classification: Unclassified
This seems similar to bug 21665, but is not the same bug (as it has been fixed
long ago)
When using "open from" to load a file in Heavy Metal, the program will page
fault as soon as the "open" button is pressed. Similarily, it will page fault
when using "save to" most of the time. That makes it impossible to use these
functions.
It doesn't appear to be a regression (I have witnessed this on all versions
from 1.3.7 to 1.7.9).
Using native comctl32.dll solves the crashing. The native DLL used in my
testing has the MD5 2f0680d0ac7b37cd5f3b118024ad0f0d.

Now that bug 7430 is fixed, on to runtime problems.
To install this app, first to
sh winetricks vcrun6 wsh56
Start the app. You'll see a tree control on the left
whose root node flashes constantly. Also, the main
pane doesn't redraw properly when you drag some
unrelated window in front of it.
(Also, the app outputs
err:ole:CoGetClassObject class {6c736db1-bd94-11d0-8a23-00aa00b58e10} not
registered
on startup. I think that's associated with ado15, but
doing winetricks art2kmin doesn't seem to help that...? ADO has
always been a mystery to me. But that's a different bug.)

Backtrace from the Program Error
Starting up Battle.net App. Login screen shows with a loading circle as if it's
trying to use a saved password to login. I receive a notice that there's an
error and Battle.net has to shut down. I close it, and the error shows up
again. This continues in a cycle until I use "wineserver -k" to exit. The
backtrace saved from this has been attached. I am able to use the Settings
button on the login screen for the Battle.net app, as well as typing in a
username/password, but I cannot go any farther than that because there is no
submit button and it doesn't seem to want to load.
Be aware that I had previously been loading Starcraft II directly using the
SC2Switcher.exe executable, but because a new version needs to be downloaded,
I'm needing to get into the Battle.net app. Not sure if not using the app is a
side effect. For the heck of it, I tried running the setup to update
Battle.net, and the same thing occurred.

Treeview unduly handles WM_SYSKEYDOWN
Refer to treeview.c
case WM_KEYDOWN:
case WM_SYSKEYDOWN:
return TREEVIEW_KeyDown(infoPtr, wParam);
No such processing on Listview :
case WM_KEYDOWN:
return LISTVIEW_KeyDown(infoPtr, (INT)wParam, (LONG)lParam);
As a consequence, WM_SYSKEYDOWN not correctly passed to parent Wnd if focus is
on a Treeview control.
Proof of concept : Use ReactOS. Open Regedit or Event Viewer. Put focus on
treeview. Alt+F4 does nothing (WM_SYSKEYDOWN "stuck" at Treeview component
level)
Suggested patch :
change
case WM_KEYDOWN:
case WM_SYSKEYDOWN:
return TREEVIEW_KeyDown(infoPtr, wParam);
into
case WM_KEYDOWN:
return TREEVIEW_KeyDown(infoPtr, wParam);
as no reason to handle WM_SYSKEYDOWN at component level.
