Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption intro video scaled
When fullscreen resolution is set to something low and different from aspect
ratio of the monitor, winewayland scales it up, but positions it on the left,
rather than in the middle of the screen and leaves the mismatching area
transparent.
This happened for example in the intro video of Vampire: The Masquerade -
Redemption. The video is 640x346 and my screen is 2560x1440.
See attached screenshot for how it looks.
It would be better if the scaled window was positioned in the middle, with some
black bands for areas that are caused by mismatch in aspect ratio.
Even better if this behavior could be configurable, i.e. where to position,
what to use for bands, like transparent, solid color / what color, etc.

error report file
when i try to run miramagia.com or .de which I just installed (as well as wine)
an error message appears indicating this might be due either to a program error
or to something missing in wine.
since it works on my other pc having cinnamon 20 mint, I believe there is some
uncompatibility with the debian 11 bullseye system I have on this PC.
I tried all the windows versions indicated in the config, but no one works.
in my other pc I had set windowsNT, it was 2 years ago and it worked.. but now
this option is not available
I attach the error report given by wine

Summary: Default installation path is wrong
Product: Wine
Version: 1.6
Platform: x86-64

Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal

Classification: Unclassified
After creating a new profile for Wine (which is pointing at default to Windows
XP) and running any installer (for example Guild Wars 1 or Warcraft 3) the
default installation path is set to the wrong location. My LANG-variable
contains "de_DE.UTF-8" so the default installation path for Guild Wars 1 should
be "C:\Programme\GUILD WARS" but it is "C:\Program Files (x86)\GUILD WARS".

This is a problem that will affect anyone making music using vst plugins
through wine. JUCE is the most widely used framework for audio application and
plug-in development. It is an open source C++ codebase. Is anyone working on
making WINE compatible with the latest (JUCE 8)?
here's a forum post with some details that may help

MDK (be it software MDK95.EXE or 3D-accelerated MDKD3D/MDK3DFX) causes an STACK
OVERFLOW error on experimental WOW64 as soon as the executable is run:
0148:err:environ:init_peb starting L"Z:\\root\\wine\\MDK\\MDK3DFX.EXE" in
experimental wow64 mode
0148:err:virtual:virtual_setup_exception stack overflow 1280 bytes addr
0x6fffffc226b7 stack 0x7ffffe100b00
(0x7ffffe100000-0x7ffffe101000-0x7ffffe1ffd20)
The game works fine in 32bit mode. The problem is clearly related to WOW64
(which is how I run all my Windows games and has a pretty good compatibility
nowadays).
