"Managed" = "N" is not recomended as default setting (too many problems). After
you have tested them in desktop or managed mode. If they run OK you can set it
that way for individual programs using the appdefaults sections if you want to.
As far as the problem of wine trying to write to "usr/lib/menu/wine" I really
have no ideas. There is probabably a bug there, but it would require that you
look at the code in the debugger which you can't with the striped rpm. If you
want to install from source its not that hard.
If I understand you correctly you were able to install the program. So if this
is the case could you mark the bug as resolved (probably WORKSFORME) and start
individual bug reports for any problems that you encounter actually running the
program.

When I click on the first menu item the application generates page fault on an
attempt to access 0x00000000 address (NULL pointer?).
This happens in procedure PBVM60.DLL.PBE_FmtFormatData.
Ligi, is PowerBuilder provided with sources of the runtime library? If yes it
would be great if you could find source of the abovementioned function.

Hello, I'm running an out of the box install of slackware 8.1. I compiled the
lastest release of wine. 20020804.
I don't currently have any copies of windows, so it may be a dll issue, not
entirley sure.
In any case, when it attempts to connect to the update server without any wait
it tells me it cannot connect to the server. the wine console does not put out
any error messages. I know that winsock works ok on my system, so I am unsure
what the issue could be.

Tony, thanks for your help. My debugger is working fine with other programs, so
that wasn't the problem. Using the Desktop = Y option in wine's config fixed
it. Apparently without, the dialog box was popping up off my screen, with me
having no way of knowing it was there.
The interesting thing is that during installation, it opened a separate
"Windows" desktop, so that there were two open for installation.
Once installed, both closed. It installed successfully, but also gave me the
following messages in the console:

I checked and there is no "usr/lib/menu/wine" directory or file. Why is it
looking for that? I previously installed a Windows program using Wine, and it
successfully added a folder and an entry to my Gnome menu. Thoughts?

Sorry for the holdups.
It is not crashing afterall. I can't tell if this is a bug or some "feature" I
change modify...
The setup program opens a window that takes up my whole screen, however, there
are no user inputs. Just some graphics. It seems it is still "freezing" at a
certain point even though it's not crashing. I have to ctrl-alt-F1 to a console
in order to kill wine to get my X usable again. The last lines shown in the
console running the windows setup program with +trace are attached.

What? When I make a new wine tree and update it, it works. With another wine
tree updated to the same date, it doesn't work. Odd.
