Compiling on Mandrake Linux 8.2 with all important updates done with MandrakeUpdate, gcc 3.0.4, glibc 2.2.4, Xfree86 4.2, Kde3, Amd3 processor (1007.025 Mhz), 128MB RAM, all hardware working fine (Including openglide on nvidia card with nvidia drivers); had same problem with cvs winex. If yes, this could be a problem with paths processing. Could you narrow the problem down to a small test case which opens the file and shows success/failure of the operation? Does it work if you hardcode the path in the test case? One more possibility - regedit incorrectly parses the command line. Try to insert debugging statements in regedit before it tries to open the file to see what it got.
