Bug ID: 57373
Summary: regression: dragged child windows partially disappear
Product: Wine
Version: 9.20
Hardware: x86-64
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org

video showing the bug
In Wine 9.20, dragging a child window does not re-draw the child window
contents or decoration in its new location, causing much of the window to be
invisible or misaligned from its actual location.
Steps to reproduce:
1. You will need an application that uses child windows. Two free audio apps
that I use that exhibit this behavior are Sekaiju and Wavosaur. These repro
steps will use Sekaiju, which you can download here:
https://openmidiproject.opal.ne.jp/Sekaiju_en.html
2. Start Sekaiju.exe. It will complain about not being able to find the
Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth. Click "OK".
3. Drag the "Untitled1(Track List)" child window to another location within the
main window.
Result: The child window is not moved, and part of the child window's contents
are still shown in their old location.
Expected result: The child window should now appear in its new location.
Test systems: I was able to reproduce this bug using the winehq-devel packages
for Ubuntu Noble in KDE neon (desktop using X11, laptop using Wayland) and
Xubuntu (Virtualbox using X11).
Workaround: downgrade to Wine 9.19.

Test file
Attaching a test file.
Output on windows:
> -s \\\"rabbit\\\" boot -boot \\\"start_sasl\\\"
Output on Wine:
> -s \\rabbit\\ boot -boot \\start_sasl\\
This leads to the Erlang machine being misconfigured and RabbitMQ crashing
everytime.
Found while analyzing the LabView installer (bug 55859), which for some reason
is the easiest way to reproduce this issue. I had a really hard time
reproducing this reliably, but hopefully the test file helps!

After starting a new campaign and attacking a territory, the campaign map
reloads. The following is output to standard out:
0024:fixme:msxml:SAXContentHandler_putDocumentLocator (002C6EB0)->(077785A4)
The trace I collected between clicking "Attack!" and the campaign map reloading
is large (58M) and may not be very informative.

In the game Starcraft Remastered, there is a setting (real-time lighting) that
to be turned on requires a GPU with at least 2GB of VRAM.
I have got an RTX 3070 ti with about 8GB of VRAM.
Under X11, I can toggle this setting and everything works correctly.
When playing in Wayland under Xwayland, the setting is greyed out and cannot be
enabled.

Terminal output
WatchGuard System Manager 12.10.4 hangs when trying to connect to a management
server. It works only once on a fresh install, but fails on every subsequent
attempt. All other functions seem to work. The console reports GnuTLS error:
ASN1 parser: Error in DER parsing.
I have tested Fedora KDE 40's wine version 9.15 as well as 9.20 staging. I
also tested Kubuntu wine 9.12.
The software can be downloaded from
https://cdn.watchguard.com/SoftwareCenter/Files/WSM/12_10_4/WSM_12_10_4.exe.
The management server is an optional component of the install, and typically
goes on a separate computer.

Libraries such as SDL2 allow you to set the backend to attempt to use via env
var
A lot of games/programs do not error check and when these are set, the program
will then error silently
It would be nice to unset some env vars to prevent this from happening, this
could be done with a tab in winecfg which could also be used to set vars per
wine config
The defaults to remove I'm proposing are XDG_SESSION_TYPE and SDL_VIDEODRIVER

Graphics become disjointed while scrolling with the slider bars. This happens
only at higher magnifications (when zoomed greater than 150%)
Graphics also do not always refresh properly when returning to application from
elsewhere on the desktop. Usually this is a black screen, which can be
refreshed with zoom 100%.
