Bug ID: 58152
Summary: MusicBee and KDE Plasma: Tooltip focus issues - loses
focus on mouseover, tooltip sometimes shows wrong
target
Product: Wine-staging
Version: 10.4
Hardware: x86-64
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2

Seems like WINE in general has issues with tooltip focus but I didn't want to
hijack other similar issues.
MusicBee running on Bazzite 42, WINE 10.4 layered on top, KDE Plasma 6.3.4.
When mousing over on items in MusicBee, the tooltip seems to have pretty
unpredictable behaviour from it being classed as its own window. The seekbar
when set to the Wave Bar will cause focus to be lost from MusicBee, and
sometimes the tooltip is just a black rectangle instead of the timestamp.
Mousing over song names can also sometimes show the wrong song name as well.

The FFXIV launcher has been updated and is now frozen on the splash screen.
(Just a big "Final Fantasy XIV Online" logo).
For now there is a workaround: Set Browser to 1 in FFXIV_BOOT.CFG.
This browser type isn't supposed to last forever, so this is just a temporary
workaround.

MusicBee font redirection bug screenshots
Font redirection for CJK scripts seems to be working reliably since 10.x, which
is great. But I don't think the font redirection bug is 100% dealt with yet.
I've come across two artists that seem to test the limits of WINE's
Unicode/font handling: ???????????? ???????????????????????? ("SKY SPORTS"
written in bold mathematical lettering, different from regular Latin letters)
and ⣎⡇ꉺლ༽இ•̛)ྀ◞ ༎ຶ ༽ৣৢ؞ৢ؞ؖ ꉺლ - ...yeah, don't ask. This is an alias for Four Tet, so
I'll refer to this as "Four Tet's alias" from here on out.
These artists' gimmick seem to be messing about Unicode symbols - for SKY
SPORTS' case it's using bold mathematical lettering to give the illusion of
bold text, for the case of Four Tet's alias, it's using whatever symbols they
can find to make Unicode gibberish. I'll link their entries on MusicBrainz if
you want to have a further look:
SKY SPORTS: https://musicbrainz.org/artist/1cc8899d-3d78-49ac-b3dd-64ec7a15259d
Four Tet alias:
https://musicbrainz.org/artist/2d9745dd-5dc6-4145-9453-fec582cfa9b8
No matter what font, these artists' names and releases do not show up on
MusicBee, they show up as boxes. This is not reproducible on Windows. In the
past, changing to Tahoma would show CJK letters somewhere or other except when
it's bold. In this case, Tahoma does nothing to fix this. Unifont is installed
(through winetricks allfonts) and that does display the symbols in Four Tet's
alias, so this is likely a bug with font redirection again.

Summary: Sengoku Rance unbearable slow

When trying to play Sengoku Rance with the latest patches (english patched
version) everything is extremly slow.
Sengoku Rance uses the Alisesoft System4.0 Ver1.3 engine.
I installed it with a clean wine prefix, googled like hell for help and tested
it on two laptops each with the newest wine version on Arch:
1.6ghz dual core with ati hd 6320 (with the ati driver from git)
2.5 ghz dual core with geforce 9300gs (with nouveau from git)
This is an old game using directx 6.
Running the game itself from the console gives no output whatsoever.
And everything after and including the main menu runs at roughly a third of the
speed.

doesn't have this bug. Please see the video for demonstration.
N.b. this is not the same as bug 51984 which was resolved.
Help is much appreciated! Below is the installation guide.
The app is a bit like kindle in so much as the engine is free but the resources
cost so there is a free download. Unlike kindle it has many advanced research
features and books link together etc. The main app is free but there are paid
features, resources and subscriptions. To use the app you need a free account
https://www.logos.com/product/194909/logos-9-basic. It uses a downloader app
which last I tried doesn't work with wine. The actual msi link is
https://downloads.logoscdn.com/LBS9/Installer/9.6.0.0024/Logos-x64.msi
Manual Install Procedure:
1 Install wine 6 or newer
2 winetricks corefonts
3 winetricks settings fontsmooth=rgb
4 winetricks dotnet48
5 winetricks settings renderer=gdi (you might need to set the reg key
manually)
6 Install the Logos.msi download but don't run it.
7 wine64 reg add "HKCU\\Software\\Wine\\AppDefaults\\LogosIndexer.exe" /v
Version /t REG_SZ /d vista /f
8 Run Logos and sign in with your free account.
There is a script which downloads a preconfigured wine bottle and sets it all
up in $USER/Logos_BibleP directory which you can then easily remove etc.
https://github.com/ferion11/LogosLinuxInstaller/releases Choose fast install
without wine AppImage.

I'm experimenting with running Wine on an ARM64 (aarch64) Linux system and I’ve
run into issues trying to execute Windows applications compiled for Windows on
ARM.
I compiled Wine for aarch64 from source, and some built-in tools like Notepad
work fine. However, when trying to run Windows ARM apps like Google Chrome or
Firefox (ARM versions), I encounter errors and the applications fail to launch.
For example, running the Chrome ARM setup (ChromeStandaloneSetup.exe) results
in the following output:
wine ChromeStandaloneSetup.exe
0050:err:vulkan:vulkan_init_once Wine was built without Vulkan support.
00c4:err:ntoskrnl:ZwLoadDriver failed to create driver
L"\\Registry\\Machine\\System\\CurrentControlSet\\Services\\winebth": c00000e5

L"Z:\\root\\Downloads\\ChromeStandaloneSetup.exe" in experimental wow64 mode
wine: failed to load L"\\??\\C:\\windows\\syswow64\\ntdll.dll" error c0000135
The key issue seems to be:
wine: failed to load L"\\??\\C:\\windows\\syswow64\\ntdll.dll" error c0000135
From what I understand, this suggests a missing or misconfigured WOW64
environment. I would appreciate any guidance on whether this functionality is
expected to work yet, or if additional configuration or patches are required.
System details:
Architecture: aarch64
Wine version: wine-10.4-203-ge956c4ec71d
Distro: Rocky Linux 8.10 (Green Obsidian)
Any pointers on how to get Windows ARM applications working under Wine on
ARM64, or whether this is still in development, would be greatly appreciated.
If you need any more logs or build configuration info, I'm happy to provide
them.
