General format for program sections
Access to and use of my databases is all under a program written using the
FoxPro language. After opening the desired database and index, I use the
command "REPORT FORM <report format filename> TO PRINTER" to send the report to
the printer. The "TO PRINTER" clause can be substituted by "TO FILE
<filename>" .... however ..... in BOTH cases, while running it in WINE, the
output fails with a "printer not ready" error. Additionally, if I replace the
"TO clauses" with "PROMPT", a printer selection (or to file) dialog comes up,
but I still get the same "printer not ready" error regardless which selection I
make.
Using the "PREVIEW" option to the REPORT FORM command instead of "TO PRINTER" I
can view the entire formatted report, but there is no way that the preview can
be redirected to any other type of output.
It appears to me that the way the command set is structured, the only way to
get a report output is through the "report form / printer" interface. It also
appears that the "to file" direction is through that same interface.
There were a couple of submnissions concerning this problem in the 2008 time
frame. The only solution offered was to adjust tyhe TIME function for faster
processors in the FoxPro config file. I tried this, but it has no effect on
the problem.

Highly probable to be a different issue, i have to use libstrangle to limit
down the FPS on nvidia prime sync with Gnome otherwise i get massive freezing
when switching windows with vsync enabled in the clients... Apparently nvidia
driver has fixed the issue, freezing is "better" but not playable with 3
clients... http://www.slipstone.co.uk/
I'd recommend trying out a workspace switching solution with fixed windows and
shortcuts if you're on one monitor, multiple monitors i'm not sure what to
suggest.. http://www.logoarts.co.uk/

Terminating Thread
Product: Wine

Hardware: x86-64

DWORD QueueUserAPC() will return zero with GetLastError() set to return
ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED if called on a terminating thread, but ERROR_GEN_FAILURE is
the expected return of GetLastError() in this scenario.
Unfortunately, it's hard to catch a thread in this state since once a thread
has been terminated completely calling on it results in GetLastError()
returning ERROR_INVALID_HANDLE as it should.
This effects applications using older versions of WebRTC, such as StarCitizen.
The chromium development team noticed this and built a workaround into WebRTC
to make WebRTC compatible with WINE and Windows in this commit:
but the underlying issue still persists in WINE.

When FindFileFirst is called with such path (c-style notation):
"C:\\Program Files/>"
it should match
"C:\\Program Files"
A test for this is in the works (first attempt:
http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-devel/2010-May/083434.html ) and this
behavior was confirmed on winxp and win2k.
This has been discovered while investigating the problem of Earth 2160 packaged
by GOG.com:
The installer ciphers the cd key to put it in the registry (as GOG doesn't
provide different keys for each user, the installer contains one):
HKCU\Software\Reality Pump\Earth2160\SerialKey\SerialKey. One of the components
used for this is the creation time of the Earth 2160 installation directory.
It looks up the path of that directory using another registry key created
during the install: HKLM\Software\Reality Pump\Earth2160\FileSystem\DataPath .
This key contains that path with a trailing "/>", which seems to be present on
purpose (removing it makes the game fail very early when executed). The result
is that this path is not found after installation on wine, so the created
registry key is invalid when checked by the game.
Note that the problem is really only in the installer, as the parameter
received by FindFileFirst when game checks the key doesn't contain the trailing
"/>".

Summary: ChipGenius cannot detect USB device
Product: Wine
Version: 1.3.13
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: mountmgr.sys
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: fracting(a)gmail.com
ChipGenius is a small green software for detecting USB pid/vid ,it returns the
device name, interface speed, serial number, equipment version, and provides
relevant information to download address.
See
http://translate.google.com/translate?js=n&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&…
for a google translated introduction.
ChipGenius can be download free on its website (
http://dl.mydigit.net/2010/09/chipgenius.html ) , or a personal mirror here:
https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0BxjsxTbiBaUHMDI5OWIxYTktZDBkOS00ODE3LWExOW…
Normally on WinXP, while running ChipGenius, it will draw a device tree and
auto detect usb devices and redraw device tree whenever a usb device is pluging
or unpluging.
However, ChipGenius didn't draw any device tree on wine.
Here is the log:

The game depends on some specific detail on Windows for Maximized position
placement. Windows seems to "forget" the maximized placement for any
non-maximized windows, as well as maximized top-level windows that cover the
work area.
Presumably, since applications typically save window positions via placement
(such as on exit) to reload them later, it does this to prevent those apps from
having weird maximized window positions when reloaded on a different screen or
a screen having a different work area, so in this case it forgets it to simply
say "just maximize to the entire work area" like normal maximized windows.
The game relies on this implicitly, because it changes styles and borders,
which affect its position and size. First, it creates the main game window as
hidden with the WS_CLIPCHILDREN | WS_MAXIMIZE | WS_MAXIMIZEBOX styles and the
WS_EX_CONTROLPARENT | WS_EX_APPWINDOW exstyles set, so it's actually maximized.
Implicitly, it ends up having a border around it, so it's position is something
like (-3,-3) on the screen (because it's maximized and not fullscreen),
covering the entire screen +3 on other side too.
Then, before showing the window, it sets the style on it again to the same
thing, which actually removes the implicit border. Since the window is still
hidden, it doesn't get updated by anything (WM or not) so its position remains
at (-3,-3). This is still correct even on Windows, despite the fact it's in the
wrong position technically speaking, so there's nothing wrong here.
The problem comes next: it shows the window with SW_MAXIMIZE. On Windows, this
resets its position to (0,0) since there is no border now. Wine currently keeps
its position at (-3,-3), although it does size the window down to be the size
of the work area / screen. So for example for 1920x1080 size, this would have
its rect be (-3,-3)-(1917,1077) instead of (0,0)-(1920,1080) as it is on
Windows. This completely confuses the game, rendering a small black window,
which makes it unplayable.

Probably related to 51620.
I have a similar issue with the Samsung SDK. Regression SHA
3bace8862f1b49e40574d1c9647e6984f10d026f, but only with a debug version of
wine, release seems okay.
32bit WINEPREFIX though, so that patch from there doesn't help.

Configuration file for AFxW to launch Unix application
AFxW[1], aka あふw in Japanese, is an ultra-low functionality two-pane file
manager.
With Wine 6.13 or later, working directory of launched Unix application is
always '/'. This is a regression because the working directory corresponds to
AFxW's active directory pane with Wine 6.12.
@kusyan, a reporter on Twitter, wrote up the following scenario in Japanese.
Thanks to the scenario, I can confirm this issue.
Steps to reproduce:
1. unzip afxw32_165.zip
2. Put attached AFXW.DEF to the directory which AFXW.EXE exists.
3. If you don't have /usr/bin/lxterminal, rewrite line 6 of AFXW.DEF to your
favorite Unix terminal software (after KEY_01=).
4. LANG=ja_JP.UTF-8 wine AFXW.EXE
5. Press [F2] to launch the specified terminal software.
6. Type 'pwd' (without quotes) and [Enter] in the new terminal window.
Expected result:
The terminal shows an Unix directory corresponding to AFxW's active directory
pane.
For instance, if your AFxW's active directory pane shows 'C:\', the terminal
will show '/home/yourname/.wine/drive_c'.
Actual result:
The terminal shows '/'. It's not a directory corresponding to AFxW's active
directory pane.

Hello folks,

--- quote ---
sandbox-attacksurface-analysis-tools
(c) Google Inc. 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018
Developed by James Forshaw
This is a small suite of tools to test various properties of sandboxes on
Windows. Many of the checking
tools take a -p flag which is used to specify the PID of a sandboxed process.
The tool will impersonate
the token of that process and determine what access is allowed from that
location. Also it's recommended
to run these tools as an administrator or local system to ensure the system can
be appropriately enumerated.
CheckExeManifest: Check for specific executable manifest flags.
CheckNetworkAccess: Check access to network stack.
NewProcessFromToken: Create a new process based on existing token.
TokenView: View and manipulate various process token values.
NtApiDotNet: A basic managed library to access NT system calls and objects.
NtObjectManager: A powershell module which uses NtApiDotNet to expose the NT
object manager.
ViewSecurityDescriptor: View the security descriptor from an SDDL string or an
inherited object.

It's actually a pretty neat "testsuite" for native API, Wine could benefit from
it.

Just did dnf update and it installed wine 6.13.
Afterwards I generally run
wine notepad

This time, it did the update fine, and comes up with the

After a short time, the following comes up on terminal
window.

Not sure why it can't start debugger.
I can run
wine winedbg --auto 100 72
afterwards, but it shows info, but doesn't apply to the
previous notepad run.
If I run notepad from the menu, you would never see this

Similar to bug #47903, but FreeBSD generally works with Wine :)
There have been several patches in recent months to fix breakages related to
the FreeBSD port that ideally would've been found by the testbot preemptively
rather than after the fact (e.g.,
https://source.winehq.org/patches/data/213680).
A test VM would also be welcome, but a build only VM would be a very helpful
first step.

A GSoC 2019 student worked on improving Wine support on NetBSD:
https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=Wine-NetBSD-GSoC-2019-D…
In order to keep Wine in good shape on NetBSD the TestBot should have a NetBSD
Wine VM. Currently this is blocked on:
1. A wininet patch:
https://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-devel/2019-October/151827.html
-> Once fixed setting a NetBSD build-only VM should be possible.
2. Setting up a NetBSD with an auto-login X session.
-> This will allow the TestBot to automatically recreate the live snapshot
when needed.
3. Some RPATH issues that break Wine's WoW support.

Sample of the build log
Greetings,
I have been building quite a few Wine versions in the past on the same build
system (with gcc as the system compiler, and clang available as a secondary
compiler), and everything always went fine until Wine v6.16 came out: with the
latter, for some (weird) reason, the build system seems to use *both* gcc and
clang to compile Wine, and fails as a result...
Specifying 'export CC=gcc;export CXX=g++' does not suffice to prevent Wine's
build system to wrongly pick up clang, and I must uninstall the latter to get
Wine v6.16 to build successfully with gcc...
Attached is a short sample of the build log (at the point where it fails too)
for you to see.

To reproduce:
1. Install Steam for Windows.
2. Install Dota 2 via `wine 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steam.exe'
steam://run/570`. This will install both the 32-bit and the 64-bit version of
the game.
3. Start 64-bit Dota via `wine 'C:\Program Files

4. In the lower-right corner, click Play Dota, Practice With Bots, Solo, Start
Bot Match.
5. Click on any hero, click Lock In, and wait for the game to start.
Before the game starts, Dota freezes, then crashes. Sometimes it crashes before
you even click Play Dota. Sometimes it crashes right after the map starts
rendering.
No useful information is written to the console in vanilla Wine. However, in
Wine Staging, lines similar to the following are printed repeatedly right
before the crash:

Armored Warfare 0.36.8306 crashes after the load screen got to 100%. The game
is F2P available from aw.my.games. With Wine 6.14 the game was frozen after the
load screen got to 100% but in 6.15 it crashes and makes a error-dump and tries
to upload it.
With Wine 6.0 the game loads and works just fine but the launcher made with
Chrome misses some texts. In Wine 6.15 the Launcher looks better but the game
doesn't work.

A simple console application that outputs Hello macOS
Wine 6.1 (from HomeBrew, gcenx-wine-devel), macOS 12 Monterey Beta 12
Hello,
Wine used to work fine on my machine running macOS 11 Big Sur.
I migrated it to macOS 12 Monterey Beta 12, and now it works for some programs
but not for all of them.
I have noticed this warning:
preloader: Warning: failed to reserve range 0000000000110000-0000000068000000
and indeed Wine cannot load programs with base address in this range.
If I just change the base address from 0x400000 to 0x80000000 (above
0x68000000), it works fine.
I think that the Wine preloader should use the relocation section and relocate
the executable if it fails to load it at its preferred address.
I attach hellomacos.exe, a simple Delphi program build with this code:
program hellomacos;
{$APPTYPE CONSOLE}
{$R *.res}
begin
Writeln (Output, 'Hello macOS');
end.
Regards,
Michel Terrisse

If left alone for a while the Windows 8.1 cw-rx460 snapshot will end up with a
Radeon driver dialog offering to upgrade.
The offer is a bit strange: the version 19.11.3 of the driver is installed but
it offers to upgrade to 17.4.4!
This snapshot does not have the Radeon GUI to avoid interference with the
clipboard tests (see bug 47888), and with the sysparams tests (see bug 51362).
But this also prevents disabling the upgrade dialogs.
Disabling the tasks created by the AMD driver may solve this:
* AMD ThankingURL
* AMD Updater
* AMDInstallUEP

When a job results in a test that outputs too much traces,
* either WineSendLog does not send an email to the mailing list,
* or the email gets lost due to the excessive size.
The latter may depend on the nature of the traces: failures (included in the
email), new todos (included?), regular traces (not included?).
Also the patch is not marked as failed on the patches website which is also a
WineSendLog issue.
This is what happened for this patch which was outputting 200kB of todos:

double presses of the Enter/Return key in the console output, which results in
the prompt appearing twice.

Wine output error message
When I click on the Publish icon on the RootsMagic toolbar at the top and
create a new book (by going clicking on the New button and giving it a name of
'test' for instance) I can select options without a problem (such as Cover
Page, Title Page, etc.). But when I click on the Add a Chapter button and
choose anyone in my list of people listed, the program completely crashes. It
doesn't matter if I choose Pedigree Chart, Scrapbook, Photo Tree or any of
them. They all go to a list of people that you can select from and all of the
entries will crash the application after you click on one of them.
A trial version of the app can be downloaded from here:

This works on Windows for me, but in WINE I get an empty string:
https://github.com/time-killer-games/libprocinfo/blob/57ca23b1896a68f7b349b…
Requires using a private API. I noticed you guys implemented a different
private API which allows you to get the Current Working Directory from an
arbitrary Process ID, so that shows you guys aren't against implementing
private API's.
So anyway, it would be nice to have this, as my libprocinfo library relies on
this as one of its core features. It can also help debugging Windows processes
runing through WINE, for those who need that sort of thing.
I use it for inter-process communication and to avoid sockets, personally.
See the function env_from_pid(process_t pid) in that source file, for more
details on the implementation. Who knows, maybe I'm doing something wrong and
it could be pure luck it works on Windows natively, but I really doubt that.

Screenshot showing before, after, and undo results
In Homesite+ (version 5.5), which is a source code text editor, there is a
facility to indent all selected lines of code with a tab.
To use this, i.e. add a tab at the start of each line, use Control+Shift+.
To reduce by one tab level, i.e. remove one tab at the start of each line, use
Control+Shift+,
On Windows this works correctly.
On Wine (devel latest, on Mac OSX brew build), the whole text gets replaced
with a . but if you press Control-z to undo, the indenting has happened
correctly.
So it seems that what is happening is that Control+Shift+. is being treated as
the correct operation (indenting) AND the . itself is being pressed (thus
replacing the selection).

I haven't quite figured out the pattern. Using "wine64" instead of "wine"

work when called with "wine64" but it'll then fail to call any 64-bit

The commit 22df510eff3ee66bf02230b46eefef64a5bd8f74 (gdi32: Use ntgdi interface

The thread calling NtGdiSetLayout therefore holds the DC lock indefinitely,
preventing other threads from accessing the device context.

1. Set Windows version to NT 4.0 and remove z: drive
2. Run iexplore -unregserver
3. Run the IE4 unpacker and installer
Workaround: remove the fake schannel.dll from system32 (thus letting the IE4
installer add its own) or replace it with a native one. A few other
observations:
- Using the above workaround, then setting a builtin-only override for schannel
doesn't bring back the crash
- A +loaddll log has no sign of schannel at this point

When running winecfg with no .wine directory, the .wine directory is created
but with various errors (see attachment). When winecfg is run with an existing
.wine directory, I get the last two lines of the same output (boot event wait
timed out, could not load kernel32.dll).
When running winetricks, I get the same could not load kernel32.dll error as
with winecfg (see attachment).
I've had this issue for just over a week now, at one point I thought the issue
was fixed, as wine did work normally after a system upgrade, but it was
inexplicably broken again the very next day. No subsequent upgrades have fixed
it again.

It tries to call vkGetPhysicalDeviceProperties2 which is missing from MoltenVK.
The test has a skip if it can't find vkGetPhysicalDeviceProperties2, but it
isn't triggered.
The problem I've "found" is that macdrv_vkGetInstanceProcAddr correctly returns
NULL for vkGetPhysicalDeviceProperties2, but in the test it uses
vkGetInstanceProcAddr. vkGetInstanceProcAddr goes to wine_vkGetInstanceProcAddr
and that uses wine_vk_get_instance_proc_addr.
wine_vk_get_instance_proc_addr doesn't return NULL, because it just checks some
sort of table.
Attached is a +vulkan log.
I'm running macOS 10.14, wine compiled with mingw and the 10.13 SDK.

In HomeSite+ (v5.5), there is a feature which allows multiline find and/or
replace with support for regular expressions and more. This is a powerful
feature which is still not present on most modern code editors, and as such is
a killer feature.
However, in Wine, there is a very annoying bug: If caps-lock is on, exiting
Extended Find dialog results in caps-lock state being toggled.
Reproduce steps:
1) Press caps-lock on the keyboard. (Verify this has taken effect by typing
into the editor area).
2) Open the Extended Find/Replace dialog either: (a) via the menu at Search >
Extended Find (or Extended Replace; or (b) Using Control+Shift+F (or
Control+Shift+R).
3) Close the box, either by suing escape to dismiss it, or the standard OS UI
close UI control in the top corner of the dialog.
4) Start typing. Text is now lower-case, though the caps-lock light on the
keyboard remains on.
5) Open the Extended Find/Replace dialog again, as per step 2.
6) Close the box again, as per step 3.
7) Start typing. Text is now upper-case.
Repeating these steps will continue to toggle the case.

Errno::ENOTSOCK occurred
Random Dungeon (ja:らんだむダンジョン[1]) is a dungeon exploring game made with RPG
Tkool VX.
It works well on Wine 6.0.1. However, on Wine 6.15, we can't load the game
anymore.
When I choose "コンティニュー" (continue) on the title screen, it shows an error
message (see attachment).
It might be common among RPG Tkool VX Runtime and RPG Maker VX Runtime.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Download RPG Tkool VX runtime, vx_rtp202.zip from [2].
SHA1(vx_rtp202.zip) = 351b4e528dc6ed4ed9988f0a636da6b1df48d6f2
2. unzip vx_rtp202.zip
3. cd RPGVX_RTP202
4. Install RPG Tkool VX runtime, i.e. LANG=ja_JP.UTF-8 wine setup.exe, and
follow the setup wizard.
5. Download Random Dungeon Ver.1.70, RandomdungeonVer170.zip.
SHA1(RandomdungeonVer170.zip) = 718599f84995878d6b82c93380035169543de866
6. unzip RandomdungeonVer170.zip
7. cd RandodungeonVer170
8. touch Save1.rvdata
9. LANG=ja_JP.UTF-8 wine Game.exe
10. On the title screen, move the cursor with arrow keys, focus "コンティニュー"
(continue) and hit the [Enter].
Expected result:
It shows load screen. You can choose a file to load.
Actual result:
It shows a message box with the following message and will terminate after
clicking [OK].
スクリプト 'Window_SaveFile' の 51 行目で Errno::ENOTSOCK が発生しました。
(translation: Errno::ENOTSOCK occurred in script 'Window_SaveFile' at line

this is the backtrace that wine gives you after the crash described in message
body
after a clean install of wine on centos 6 i386, then running python2.7.9 under
wine, you try and import the main VPython library ("import visual as vs"), you
get the Unhandled Page Fault message and the popup that "Wine has experience a
serious problem with pythonw.exe", and it's game over. Interestingly (maybe)
the terminal no longer echos input, and you have to close it and start again.
I've attached the backtrace. The console output, since it's only one line, is
pasted below (with all the err: and fixme: outputs as observed)
I realise this doesn't qualify for submission under the "no dll overrides"
rule, since there is a dll override in place. VPython requires you to install
the windows python27.dll. Even so, I'll file the bug with the VPython
developers too, and see what happens.

Attempting to run a test program that uses Vulkan. The program is "cube.exe"
from WGPU; it's just a basic test to see if Vulkan graphics work.
Set the renderer=vulkan registry key under Direct3d with wine regedit per
release notes.
