In Windows:
When you hover the mouse on any of the buttons in the top menu ("Open",
"Options" ...) the buttons change color and when you remove the mouse they
change back to the original coler (a mouse-on animation that is).
In Wine:
The buttons does change color when hovered, but they also change position a bit
(their position doesn't change in Windows).
Also when removing the mouse the buttons doesn't change back to the original
color (like in Windows) or position.

Summary: Wine refuses to load native MSVCP90.dll, and won't
even say why.
Product: Wine
Version: 1.3.27
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: skotlex(a)mailforce.net
Back in version 1.3.26 wine was working correctly in the application I was
using it for (Ragnarok Online, used to have platinum rating in the appDB), but
since 1.3.27 wine cannot launch the application anymore.
By default, it tries to use the built-in MSVCP90.dll, which is a no go because
it has missing functions (already reported in bug #28215). However, the problem
is when I try to force the native version to be used, wine will not load it,
and it won't even give any explanation on why.
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="msvcp90=n" WINEDEBUG=+loaddll wine ragnarok.exe
Will print (relevant part):

0x7e3c0000: builtin
The file, msvcp90.dll, is in the same directory as the executable, and there is
a Manifest for it as well (Microsoft.VC90.CRT.manifest):
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?>
<!-- Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. -->
<assembly xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1" manifestVersion="1.0">
<noInheritable/>

type="win32"
name="Microsoft.VC90.CRT"

/>
<file name="msvcr90.dll" /> <file name="msvcp90.dll" /> <file
name="msvcm90.dll" />
</assembly>
According to winefile, the msvcp90.dll file I have has the following
properties:
Version: 9.0.21022.8
Size: 568832 Bytes
FileVersion: 9.00.21022.8
InternalName: MSVCP90.DLL
ProductVersion: 9.00.21022.8
One thing that jumps to the eye is the fact that the different version fields
don't agree on whether it is 9.0.X, or 9.00.X, but that may be normal. What I
don't find normal is the fact that wine doesn't give me any hint on what is
wrong and why it cannot load that dll :/
I am guessing it is related to manifests, since the support for that went in in
this Wine version.
So, in summary, shouldn't wine print out an error message detailing why it
failed to load a particular dll file?

Note: Let's skip the drama about "why" I need IE3 - I don't. It's just an odd
problem I encountered while trying to test an old bug that may be related to
another bug I encountered while looking for a test case for yet another bug.
MD5: ef64ec92f811409ca81f1845fab773eb msie302w95.exe
The installer starts without problems but once it begins installing it aborts
with the message:
"Internet Explorer 3.0 cannot be installed on a system that has Internet
Explorer 4.0 installed"
The installer contents can be extracted with:
msie302w95.exe /C /T:"c:\ie3"
The source of the message is infinst2.exe (occurs immediately when launched)
but I can't determine what it's being triggered by. I've tried overrides,
deleting most of the files in WINEPREFIX, and deleting most of the keys in the
registry. At this point I can't tell if it's a bug or not. I can't see
anything in the debug output that indicates what file or registry keys it's
looking at. Reading through the install scripts doesn't yield any obvious
clues.

Component: shdocvw
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: RandomAccountName(a)mail.com
If the 32-bit IE3 installer is run without an override for shdocvw, it crashes
after rebooting:
wine: Call from 0x7b83b4c2 to unimplemented function
shdocvw.dll.InstallReg_RunDLL, aborting
wine: Unimplemented function shdocvw.dll.InstallReg_RunDLL called at address
0x7b83b4c2 (thread 0043), starting debugger...
The installation continues afterward, so this seems to be harmless aside from
giving a crash dialog to dismiss.
To run the installer, the reported Windows version should be Windows 95, and
you'll need an app-specific override for infinst2.exe setting shell32 to
disabled (or native only).

When trying to remove one of the registered file types from IE3's file types

With native shell32 and shfolder, it shows the full message:

Are you sure you want to remove the file type?"
No change with native shfolder only, fails to start with shell32 only. Running

Read the Wine Developers Guide on how to set up winedbg or another debugger
winedbg.exe is not really usable because it prevents Wine from shutting down
and winedevice.exe from exiting. But tracing showed that the crash happens in
the libusb_close() call of fdo_pnp() in dlls/wineusb.sys/wineusb.c:
https://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git/blob/HEAD:/dlls/wineusb.sys/wineusb.…
This is with Debian's version 2:1.0.22-2 of the libusb-1.0-0 and
libusb-1.0-0-dev packages.
All I found online is that libusb_close() typically crashes when there are
control transfers still in progress. So maybe this is a cleanup issue?
Finally the crash started with this commit. Could it be related to the
potential cleanup issue mentioned above?

Installing d3d11.dll, d3dx11_43.dll & D3DCOMPILER_47.dll from MS fixes the
issue.
(ie. with "winetricks d3dcompiler_47 d3dx11_43")
It's possibly related to fixme:d3dx:D3DX11CreateTextureFromMemory not being

wine: Unimplemented function shdocvw.dll.218 called at address 0x7b83b722
(thread 0009), starting debugger...
I found the source of that call in shell32/shfldr_desktop.c:
return IEParseDisplayNameWithBCW(CP_ACP,lpszDisplayName,pbc,ppidl);
After hacking it to return E_NOTIMPL instead, the crashes are gone. Could Wine
check whether the function is available before calling it?
Recipe to reproduce:
1. Add native,builtin overrides for shdocvw and mshtml
2. Install with winetricks from svn (winetricks ie3)
3. Run with wine 'C:/Program Files/Internet Explorer/iexplore.exe'
The first instance of the crash will be after answering whether IE should be
the default browser on first run.

Terminal output
IE3 crashes with an unhandled page fault when trying to access the file types
dialog. To test, install with winetricks from svn using 'winetricks win95 ie3'
or follow steps 1-3 from bug 28829 to install manually. Then:
- Run 'wine control inetcpl.cpl'
- Go to the programs tab
- Click "file types"
Using builtin url.dll avoids this crash (giving a non-functional dialog
instead) but the native one is used by default.

When clicking on any link in IE 3.02, nothing happens. I tested with some older

cb5eb331590c96c26ab50cfe9ae96692dfcca34f is the first bad commit
commit cb5eb331590c96c26ab50cfe9ae96692dfcca34f

Reverting that patch fixed the problem. BTW, I also verified that this old
version of IE still works properly with a more modern native hlink (from XP).
Steps to install IE3 and see the problem:
1. Run iexplore -unregserver
2. In winecfg, add global overrides for some core IE libraries:
iexplore.exe, jscript, mshtml, shdocvw, urlmon, wininet
3. Add a new application on the applications tab - infinst2.exe - and set
shell32 to disabled for this executable.
4. Run the installer, leave all settings at default, and allow it to restart at
the end.
5. On the first run of IE, disable the default browser check. It will then
crash from an unimplemented function.
6. Run the browser a second time and there should be no crash (just don't try
to use the address bar or home button). Click any of the links on the WineHQ
homepage and nothing will happen.

Hi all
It looks that after updating to Wine 6.10 the dinput related stuff is broken,
at least for me. I am no longer able to use my 8BitDo Pro 2 gamepad in Wine in
conjunction with the CXBX-R Xbox emulator. There is mentioned at the CLI the
following message:
00cc:err:wineusb:event_thread_proc Error handling events: System call
interrupted (perhaps due to signal)
00cc:err:wineusb:event_thread_proc Error handling events: System call
interrupted (perhaps due to signal)
This worked absolutely fine in Wine devel 6.9 and 6.8.
The mentioned 8BitDo Pro 2 controller is used with xinput mode. However, the
CXBX-R emulator uses dinput for the keyboard and mouse. I can set the gamepad
also to dinput mode but this shows no effect. The above mentioned error message
still always appears.
I tired to install the native dinput8.dll but this helped nothing.
An additional information is welcome! ;-)

When calling Process32Next, szExeFile in the returned structure is different
from Windows.
Here is the source code for programs I used to test this:
// app.cpp
// i686-w64-mingw32-gcc app.cpp -o app.file
#include <windows.h>
int main() {
Sleep(5000);
}
// test.cpp
// i686-w64-mingw32-g++ -static-libstdc++ -static-libgcc test.cpp -o test.exe
#include <cstdio>
#include <windows.h>
#include <tlhelp32.h>
int main() {
STARTUPINFOW sinfo;
memset(&sinfo, '\0', sizeof(sinfo));
sinfo.cb = sizeof(sinfo);
PROCESS_INFORMATION info = {0};
wchar_t str[] = L"App.file";
CreateProcessW(NULL, str, NULL, NULL, FALSE, 0, NULL, NULL, &sinfo, &info);
HANDLE snapshotHandle = CreateToolhelp32Snapshot(TH32CS_SNAPPROCESS, 0);
LPPROCESSENTRY32 lppe;
if (Process32First(snapshotHandle, lppe)) {
while (Process32Next(snapshotHandle, lppe)) {
if (!_stricmp("App.file", lppe->szExeFile)) {
printf("%s\n", lppe->szExeFile);
}
}
}
}
Running test.exe with wine I get the following output:
lahvuun@lahvuun ~/git/winebug wine test.exe
App.file
On Windows 10 with powershell and the same pair of binaries I get:
PS D:\app> ./test.exe
app.file

I installed 32 bits version of Unity 5.1.1f1 as suggested because the 64-bits
CFE library is bugged, the 32 bit version of unity 5.1 worked normally, but it
works with invisible fonts, I installed corefonts, tahoma and I tried to

Terminal output while running launcher (PDLauncher.exe)
Counter:Side crashes/hangs up after finished login and clicking screen while
prompted with 'Tap the screen' message. The game crashes/hangs up whenever
accessing main menu. Login process can be done by either QR code via mobile app
or external via browser link.
This bug doesn't occur on new accounts up until the player able to access main
menu, which is the place where it's constantly crashes.
How to replicate:
1. Install Counter:Side.
(Optional) Install Visual C++ redist 2013 using winetricks.
2. Run the launcher (PDLauncher.exe). The launcher will prompt update when new
contents available.
3. The launcher will automatically run the game after updating process done.
The game might ask for additional updates.
4. Log in to the game with QR code/external account. Logging in via QR code
requires you to have the game application on phone, since it uses in-game QR
code reader to verify login.
5. Click when prompted with 'Tap the screen' message, which will redirects to
main menu where it crashes/hangs up.
For new accounts: Proceed the tutorial until it's done. Main menu will be
accessible after choosing player name.
Tested on Ubuntu 21.04 and 64-bit WINEARCH. Does not happen on Arch-based Linux
(e.g EndeavourOS) during test process. Tests are done with same hardware, only
differs in storage media (SSD on Ubuntu vs HDD on EndeavourOS).
Ubuntu run via WineHQ official packaging (i.e WineHQ's PPA), while EndeavourOS
run via Arch's packaging.

@Anastasius Focht: This analysis from 2008 was a blast to read. Very
educational.
Meanwhile, since the fix to this bug is in staging, I managed to install Office
2002 almost completely working with this method. I thought I might share it for
others who stumble upon this, even though Office 2002 today has probably rather
niche usecases.
1. I used a 32bit wineprefix with Wine 6.11-staging, without installing mono or
gecko. I used PlayOnLinux for easy installation, but you could probably compile
it yourself, too.
2. Install Access, Word, Excel and Powerpoint with the installer. De-select all
autocorrection options in the installer. They won't install properly (probably
another bug) and if you don't de-select them, Office keeps asking to insert the
installation medium at every start.
3. I then copied the prefix in my default wine environment, which is currently
5.0-stable, ran winecfg and changed the mode to Windows XP. It probably runs in
Windows 7 mode, to, but since it's Office XP you might as well put it to the
proper OS version.
4. The installation is now complete. Finally, I manually created 4 launchers
for the progams via alacarte (you can google that if you're unfamiliar with
menu editing)
The launchers have to look similar to that:
env WINEPREFIX="/home/username/.wine-mso" wine-stable
/home/username/.wine-mso/drive_c/Program\ Files/Microsoft\
Office/Office10/WINWORD.EXE

Implement cuD3D11GetDevice and cuGraphicsD3D11RegisterResource
I am attaching a patch that will implement a semi-stub for cuD3D11GetDevice and
cuGraphicsD3D11RegisterResource in wine-staging.
Since wine does not have the nvapi/nvcuda libraries included this patch can
currently ONLY be used for WINE-STAGING.
I tested this with:
wine-staging-6.13
Steamclient run from wineprefix
nVidia PhysX software 9.19 (latest).
Batman Arkham Knight
Using the winetricks PhysX version - 9.14 - is too old to implement Interactive
smoke/fog.
The included patch makes you able to enable "Interactive smoke/fog" and
"Interactive paper debris".
Currently wine implementation of D3D11 is not working too well, even tho the
smoke/paper worked fine. Using this together with DXVK and DXVK-NVAPI makes
this work pretty good.
I have also tested this with Steam/Proton, but this requires an additional
patch for the lib to load libcuda.so.1 instead of libcuda.so (Due to steam
runtime-soldier). I will leave that patch out for now, as it might not be
appropriate for wine-staging (although would still work).

* But Windows 10 1903+ use 49 by default so that two digit years 0-49 map to
2000-2049 while years 50-99 map to 1950-1999.
oleaut32:vartype expects the old 29 cutoff when it tests how VarDateFromStr()
parses dates such as "2 30" which is what causes the failures.
Wine's VarDateFromStr() implementation should also be updated to match the
current Windows versions.

mlang/tests: Fix the check for non-English locales in test_GetCodePageInfo().
mlang:mlang fails on the Hindi test configuration:
https://test.winehq.org/data/patterns.html#mlang:mlang
The 36 systematic failures all happen on lines 2572 to 2580 in
test_GetCodePageInfo(). For instance:
mlang.c:2572: Test failed: 9: got wrong wszDescription expected L"Baltic

mlang.c:2580: Test failed: 9: got wrong wszProportionalFont expected L"Arial"
return L"Nirmala UI".
These checks are meant to be skipped on non-English locales but the test checks
the wrong Windows locale and gets confused because the Hindi test configuration
still has some English locales (notably the system locale, see WineTest's
locale information dump).
The attached patch should fix this.

x264guiEx configuration window
x264guiEx[1] is a famous output plugin for AviUtl, Japanese video editing
software[2]. When running it with AviUtl 1.10 and Wine-Mono 6.20, its
configuration window partly shows white box characters instead of Japanese
characters. See attached image for details.
It's not typeface issue. For the attachment case, it shows three white boxes
for two Japanese characters, なし. If we had have a missing typeface, it should
be two.
I guess Wine-Mono's default encoding incompatibility causes this issue. This
plugin uses System::String without the encoding parameter in frmConfig.cpp[3].
That means constructor's argument is interpreted using default encoding[4].

shellpath.c:380: Test failed: Full path

not end with relative path L"Microsoft\\Windows\\Burn\\Burn"
For now these failures happen on the Windows 8.1 cw-rx460 and cw-gtx560
machines. That's because these machines have both Burn\Burn and Burn\Burn1
folders.
Paradoxically these don't have a CD drive at all. However they are connected to
a KVM which can serve ISOs in the form of a USB CD drive. I suspect that with
ISO changes, connection/disconnections Windows 8.1 ended up thinking there were
two USB CD drives and thus created one folder for each drive.
I have confirmed that adding two drives to a recent Windows 10 VM gives the
same result so this is not something specific to Windows 8.1 or the cw-*
machines.
Incidentally the failing test was introduced by the commit below:

The value is the time spent in RtlWaitOnAddress(..., timeout=100 ms). The test
generously expects at least 90 ms and the failure occurs whenever it is below
that.
Because the failure is intermittent and the duration typically varies between
85 and 89 ms, this failure is prone to generating false positives in the
TestBot.
Furthermore this only happens in Wine which suggests there is some
implementation issue there.

oleaut32:varformat fails in Wine when the currency sign follows the amount. For
instance in French:
https://test.winehq.org/data/patterns.html#oleaut32:varformat
varformat.c:641: str=L"0,000 \20ac"
varformat.c:643: Test failed: Unexpected hr 0x80020005.
There are two reasons for this failure:
* VarParseNumFromStr() expects the currency sign to precede the monetary
amount. This is not how it works in most European languages such as French,
German, Swiss, etc.
* VarParseNumFromStr() normally does not allow spaces between the monetary
amount and the currency sign. However in French the thousands separator is a
non-breaking space and that's a special case that also allows regular spaces.
So, because in this case VarParseNumFromStr() is called with NUMPRS_THOUSANDS,
it should ignore that space and successfully parse the trailing currency sign.
I will send a patch shortly.

I wrote and ran a short program attached with Wine 6.11 and Wine Mono 6.20.
But, it didn't work as expected.
The code calls kernel32's GetDateFormatA by DllImport feature.
I guess Wine-Mono's DllImport doesn't handle Japanese ANSI code page well.
Steps to reproduce:
1. If your 'locale -a' doesn't show ja_JP.utf8, add Japanese locale support to
your environment.
2. Run today.exe on Japanese locale with wine,
i.e. LANG=ja_JP.UTF-8 wine today.exe
Expected result:
Message window shows today's date text in Japanese, e.g. 2021年6月21日.
Actual result:
Message window appears, but shows no message text.
Remarks:
If we use CharSet.Unicode instead, it works properly.

It complains that I don't have enough gpu memory, but that doesnt seem to be

This bug is most likely a dupe of existing bugs but I mark it dupe or make it

The help file from Microsoft's CTL3D self-extractor (CTL3D.HLP) is not
displayed correctly in Wine's help viewer. Everything after the first sentence
of the section "the 3D look" is scrunched to the left. Terminal output doesn't
look useful:
fixme:exec:SHELL_execute flags ignored: 0x00000100
A workaround is winetricks riched20. (The file isn't displayed completely
correctly after this, but it isn't scrunched anymore.) The override it adds for
riched32 can be removed without the problem reappearing; only riched20 needs to
be native.
The self-extractor is a DOS app, so you may need to extract the files with
unzip or DOSBox.

## Description:
Sid Meier’s Civilization® VI remains stuck on a grey screen after the
introduction video.
The game seems to be unable to find its own files.
1. The game throws out errors about being unable to find the data associated to
"Event IDs" (e.g: "Event ID not found: 1016118145"). This data can be found
within the game's data, stored as .xml files.
2. The game's "Database.log" shows "ERROR: no such table: InputKeyData" which
are associated with local .sqlite databases.
3. The game's "Lua.log" shows "Error opening/reading" .lua files. It also
incorrectly points to one of its .lua file:
"Z:\home\zereox\.steam\steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization
VI\Base\Binaries\Win64Steam\UI\FrontEnd\IntroScreen.lua"
however that file is located in:
"Z:\home\zereox\.steam\steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization
VI\Base\UI\FrontEnd\IntroScreen.lua"
"..\Base\Binaries\Win64Steam\" is the location of the executable. Manually
copying some of the .lua files into that folder does allow the splash screen to
appear instead of the grey screen.

Creative Writer 2 can crash while attempting to open a previously saved file if
another file is already loaded. Not all pairs of files cause a crash, though.
Steps to reproduce with the trial version:
1. Click OK to an error and an introduction at startup
2. Choose to open a file (via the icon in the lower-left of the new project
dialog)
3. Open "Creative Writer Card.max"
4. Click the folder icon at the top of the screen, then "open..."
5. Open "Creative Writer Project.max"
The program crashes. However, there's no problem when opening those files in
the opposite order. Native ole32 prevents the crash.

Reverting that patch from an ancient version results in images displaying
correctly again. Trying to revert from wine-1.2-495-g20f51c2 gives "Unreversed
patch detected!"..."2 out of 2 hunks ignored". Steps to reproduce:
1. Click OK to some messages on startup and choose to start "a blank page"
2. Click the folder icon toward the upper-right and choose "open"
3. Open the file "Creative Writer Project.max"
Expected result: a drawing of a dog with the words "caution! beware of dog"
should be shown, as seen in the preview on the file selection screen
Actual result: A blank red page is displayed

I thought I'd see how this old program works with Wine, and it turns out that
most of the interface is the wrong colors. The program's messages are
unreadable because the black text appears on a black background, and the rest
of the interface is mostly red and black. However, it displays correctly if
Xephyr is used to run the program at 8-bit color depth. I tried it in an older
version and found that this is a regression:

There are other open regressions created by this commit - bug 20565 and bug
21067 - but I don't know whether this is exactly the same problem as one of
those or not.

I have problems running many of my games in the current git version
(wine-2.16-77-g917e86dd7a).
Some of the affected games crash after start (without a usable backtrace),
other games do run but audio doesn't work in these games. In the terminal I see
at least 3 different errors:
1. for the games that crash there are lots of these errors before the crash:
err:d3d:wined3d_debug_callback 0x1943e0: "GL_OUT_OF_MEMORY error generated.
Failed to allocate CPU address space mapping for texture (consider building

run log
This may be a regression.
My program ran fine with wine-6.11 (Staging) and I just downloaded wine-6.12
(Staging) and now when I launch it, it fails very early with this message:
failed to launch UI information server
My app is Dragon Naturally Speaking 12.5.
I should mention that the program sometimes throws up miscellaneous error
messages prior to starting, but I have never gotten this message, and the error
messages have never stopped the program from opening.
I run Gentoo.
Dragon NaturallySpeaking comes with its own Net 4.0 framework, so I do not use
Mono.

Bug ID: 51530
Summary: MeGUI: processing AVS script conversion on large
source file fills disk to 100% with intermediate
processing file
Product: Wine
Version: 6.13
Hardware: x86-64
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: gdiplus
Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
Reporter: tigerwild(a)gmail.com
Distribution: ---
Generated .avs script converting non-interlaced MPEG-2 (DVD standard) into x265
then final output to be muxed within .mkv container.
I identified that long start times when opening content appear to be caused by
the the intermediate processing of files. The AVS script pipes data from one
process to another, and I noted that the initial process of Ffmpeg output, was
not staying constrained to ram. Instead it was being written to disk while also
not being forwarded to the encoder until AFTER it had completely processed the
input video file.
The intermediate processing and storage of uncompressed frames data generated
prior to handoff to x265 encoder rapidly fills 100+ GB of disk file space,
typically on root drive as this is where Wine (
/home/username/.wine/drive_c/users/username/Temp ) directory is located.
Testing by converting just a small number of frames where the intermediate
files created did not completely fill up the hard disk were 100% successful
with the only performance bump compared to Windows being the intermediate
writing of the files to the hard drive.
Steps to reproduce:
Install
wine-6.13 ( staging )
Execute
Executed WineCFG, configure default Windows version to 2008 or Windows 7
Install
winetricks
Download
As Microsoft no longer supports fileshare of windows6.1-KB976932-X64.exe, I
downloaded a copy from https://archive.org/details/windows6.1-KB976932 .
Place the file into /home/username/.cache/winetricks/win7sp1 [ it's a 903 MB
file! ]
Get the official MeGUI 2913 x32 from
https://sourceforge.net/projects/megui/files/ .
Extract and place the files into /home/username/.wine/drive_c/Program Files
(x86)/MeGUI-2913-32
Execute
winetricks, perform 'Install an application',
with no application selected pressed 'cancel', then select 'Install a Windows
DLL or component', then select 'dotnet40'.
winetricks, perform 'Install an application',
with no application selected pressed 'cancel', then select 'Install a Windows
DLL or component', then selected 'gdiplus'.
WineCFG, select 'Add application' and manually navigate to the directory; I
selected MeGUI.exe and set version to either Windows 2008 / 7. Both worked in
testing.
MeGUI, note: I got multiple error windows prior to program finally showing up
for use on screen. Wine performed two reconfigurations and proceeded some 20
seconds before the application was usable.
Behaviour:
Root drive is filled to capacity very quickly reaching 99.99% useage and
forcing OS to ask to free up space. MeGUI task monitor shows no progress during
this time. The /home/username/.wine/drive_c/users/username/Temp directory is
filled with files which appear to be the uncompressed video frames coming from
FFMPEG's processing, prior to being piped to the x265 encoder.
Expected behaviour:
Each process should be constrained to RAM for fastest processing, vice writing
the ouputs to disk. Also the pipe from one process to the next should happen
immediately upon reaching a filled capacity (eg. 90% filled buffer).
Additional information:
Typical command line that MeGUI generates for actually performing its processes
is similar to the following Job command line:
"cmd.exe" /c ""C:\Program Files (x86)\MeGUI-2913-32\tools\ffmpeg\ffmpeg.exe"
-loglevel level+error -i "Z:\media\PcName\Data\Archive\Video
Captures\MyDvDContent.mkv.avs" -strict -1 -f yuv4mpegpipe - | "C:\Program Files
(x86)\MeGUI-2913-32\tools\x265\x64\x265.exe" --preset faster --tune grain --crf
21.9 --sar 1:1 --output "Z:\media\PcName\Data\Archive\Video
Captures\MyDvDContent.mkv.hevc" --frames 163130 --y4m -"

Summary: SO_REUSEADDR compatibility problems
Product: Wine
Version: 6.0-rc6
Hardware: x86-64
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
Reporter: James(a)superbug.co.uk
Distribution: ---
The use case I am struggling with is the use of a Windows program
running in wine that is sending and receiving UDP packets.
This particular windows program uses SO_REUSEADDR socket option and
opens two sockets. Lets call the first one socket A, and the second
one Socket B.
The SO_REUSEADDR from the Windows application is translated by "wine" into a
SO_REUSEADDR in Linux.
Unfortunately the behaviour of these is different between Windows and
Linux so the Windows application fails to run on Linux under wine.
1 ) On windows:
All received unicast UDP packets will arrive on the first opened
socket. Thus on socket A.
2) On Linux:
All received unicast UDP packets will arrive on the last opened
socket. Thus on socket B.
The problem is that this windows program only expects to receive
unicast UDP packets on socket A, and thus it sees no packets.
There are no currently existing socket options in Linux that would
permit wine to simulate the Windows behaviour.
And thus, the reason I am asking the question here.
Please can we add an extra socket option to the Linux socket options
such that we can get wine to simulate Windows correctly. I.e. behave
like (1) above.
Now wine is pretty good at simulating most things Windows throws at
it, but socket options is not one of them yet.
Also note, that (1) is actually more secure than (2) because it
prevents other applications with the same UserID from hijacking the
socket.
Although (2) is more helpful in more gracefully handling some error edge cases.
Suggested new option name: SO_REUSEADDR_WS

This problem is really important, it breaks user experience. Sometimes a user
can't access underlying window at all.
I have attached simple test case to see a problem.
When user clicks on hint then button should be clicked, but it doesn't.
