Summary: COM device is not working in ZOC application
Product: Wine
Version: CVS
Platform: Other
URL: http://www.emtec.com/zoc
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-kernel
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: m.goemmel(a)compulab.de
Using the Serial/Modem device in ZOC (see http://www.emtec.com/zoc or AppDB)
will not work. Connecting a serial modem to a com device will not even makes
it possible to enter AT&F^M and see a valid OK^M result message. As mentioned
in the AppDB, ZOC is very sophisticated when using COMM routines, but if
someone who knows this area in Wine wants to take a look, it would be nice.
If further info is needed, please let me know

No, it's not a M$ special, it's a ZOC special :-) It is a WM_USER+43h message
ZOC is using to do an internal task. I have to correct this inside ZOC...
So CLOSED would be the right status for this...

I think I'm running a stock wine from yesterday's cvs.
It's worse now. Now when I try to install mdac,

So maybe you need to install that Microsoft Data Access Components 2.1 (or ad a
key?). Just a wild guess :)

WinAMP 5.12 with Classic skin / Wine 0.9.3 ScreenShot
Tested with Wine 0.9.3 (default setup/clean profile). The issue remains.
Bugs:
1. Tooltips have KDE's KWin decorations (they shouldn't)
2. Playlist Editor and Equalizer have KDE's KWin decorations
3. There's one strange empty window without any content (the bottom one)
4. WinAmp main window lacks a header

With clean wine install - again, from FreeBSD ports - the result is the same.
Also, the msvcrt.dll fix that was suggested (many times) has no effect. Since I
originally posted this report I have upgraded to FreeBSD 6 - source up and
rebuild - but, alas, no change. It is a very consistent bug :)
I am still attempting different methods to circumvent or expose the bug. I've
tried all (reasonable) suggestions and I welcome more. You may send me a private
email if you like. Either way, if a solution is found I will make sure it is
clearly posted here.

Trainz 1.3 and TRS2004 both fail on startup with the same error, when in OpenGL

"X Error of failed request: GLXUnsupportedPrivateRequest
Major opcode of failed request: 143 (GLX)
Minor opcode of failed request: 17 (X_GLXVendorPrivateWithReply)
Serial number of failed request: 144

I have a Radeon 7000. Not really good, I know, however it worked fine in 0.9.2.
Simply uninstalling 0.9.3 and installing 0.9.2 makes it work fine.

Wine's downloading and installing of the Mozilla ActiveX
control is very slick, but testing it in fairly fresh
fake drive_c reveals that it fails to register itself
because it can't find the file MSVCP60.DLL.
You'd think that would be bundled in the control's installer,
but http://www.iol.ie/~locka/mozilla/faq.htm clearly states
that it is not, and tells you to install it yourself first
from a particular URL. Wine's autodownload should take care
of that for the user if that DLL is not found.

have it installed.

This is becuase you are running hl2.exe directly. To use this exe in such a way
options need to be passed to the exe from Steam.exe. It cannot be run on it's
own accord. You need to run Steam.exe first then run HL2 from steams menu's.
This should fix your problem. Allthough, I'm not sure if and application calls
to run an .exe is it run though wine or directly. If it is run directly one
could only assume that it will be handled by your window manager as an "Unknown
file", unless maybe you have configured Gnome or KDE etc. to run .exe's with wine.
All the best,

The libGL warnings come every time immediately after I run wine. The last line
comes at the moment Wine crashes. This happens after using the program for a
while. Maybe 15 minutes, maybe browsing through half an issue.
Sometimes the Totmad.exe's window just disappears. Sometimes there appears a
small empty un-resizeable window on top of it. After I close the small window,
another one appears. Sometimes, after closing dozens of small windows, there is
suddenly no more and the Totmad.exe's window also closes. Sometimes there is no
end to them, and I just kill wine with Ctrl-C

there is no reason for the winecfg window to be so long vertically. it could
easily fit in less than 480 pixels with plenty of room to spare.
it may also be useful to prevent the user from entering a resolution that would
be too small (or a warning).
and finally, it would be useful to have a dropdown list of standard resolutions,
rather than text-entry.
thanks for the hard work.

"Display

Not for me. Nothing is being created in the registry when I make these changes.
This still does not invalidate the meat of this bug - that the font choices Wine
is making are unusable in many cases.

up.exe
OS/Version: other
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-ole
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: dank(a)kegel.com
To reproduce:
0. Because Magic Gallery requires but does not ship gdiplus.dll,
put a copy of gdiplus.dll into windows/system32. You can get a
copy e.g. by installing PowerPoint Viewer 2003 from
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/officeupdate
then grabbing it from
/Program Files/Microsoft Office/PowerPoint Viewer/GDIPLUS.DLL
1. Install
http://www.raizlabs.com/software/magic/MagicGallery45Setup.exe
If you don't have gdiplus.dll, install will fail.
2. When the app starts, before it displays a window, wine says
fixme:ole:OaBuildVersion Version value not known yet. Please investigate it !
fixme:ole:CoRegisterMessageFilter stub
fixme:ole:OleLoadPictureEx
(0x7f6b2cfc,22494,0,{7bf80980-bf32-101a-8bbb-00aa00300cab},x=0,y=0,f=0,0x7b91fb00),
partially implemented.
fixme:ole:OLEFontImpl_IPersistStreamInit_InitNew (0x7bc8805c), stub!
fixme:ole:OLEFontImpl_FindConnectionPoint Tried to find connection point on
{4ef6100a-af88-11d0-9846-00c04fc29993}
then the app aborts with a dialog saying
"Object or class does not support the set of events".
I'll upload a log with WINEDEBUG=+ole.
Problem occurs both with 0.9.2 and today's cvs. No other versions tested.

There's already a patch for the bitmap bug (bug 4034 - thanks again, Marcus!),
but the font problem is still there. Just tried with the Poser 6 demo, todays
Wine CVS, Raphaels "render_texture"-patch reversed (caused a regression) and
Marcus' fix for 4034.
There are also issues with the OpenGL viewport, most likely caused by the
OpenGL rewrite (bug 2398).

Okay, a quick fix to get around the name resolution problem is to change the
server address in data/sclientinfo.xml to the actual IP address of the server.
You have to use linuxexe, which is provided
here(http://saufen.s01.user-portal.com/linuxexe.zip) for this to work.
Now, once it has the straight IP, it will connect to the login server and even
let you select/creater a character. Once you choose your character, though, it
will disconnect. I have tested this on Windows and it does work. I have also
set up a local server and using Wine, it connected and played fine. But any
time I have to go outside of my locate network, it drops off.

FYI:
- wine uses a default of 96 dpi
- it does not use the settings from 'X'. Wine did do so some time ago, but
there are far too many broken user configurations around.
- 1600 dots on a 19 inch display is theoretically 105 dpi. On a LCD panel
that should be correct, if you are using a CRT monitor the value may be 120.
- setting the LogPixels value is not the whole story. The fonts that you are
laking about are stored HKCU\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics. Font sizes
are device units: pixels. That means those fonts will not be affected by
setting a different dpi, but the actual fontsizes must be adjusted. That is
what happens on Windows when you change the dpi in the Display Properties
applet.
- Wine does not have that yet. For the moment you can try the Display
Properties applet fom win98. "control /path/to/desk.cpl" works here enough
to modify those font settings.
Rein.

Hi, this bug appears to be caused by an ENOMEM failure on my computer.
I will not close it yet, because I don't understand why this happens - I think
that I should have more than enough memory to run Steam (1GB ram + 512 swap),
40% used. Steam attempts to reserve 200MB of virual memory, fails, ignores the
failure, proceeds, and later tries to commit the memory, at which point it
reports an assert failure (used to be 143, now it's 148). Lately I also get an
exception that it could not write to virtual address 4, because of insufficient
privileges.
Here's the call that fails:
It goes through VirtualAlloc, and then wine_anon_mmap:
mmap2(NULL, 209780736, PROT_NONE, MAP_PRIVATE|MAP_ANONYMOUS, -1, 0) = -1 ENOMEM

I am currently trying prelinking and various things suggested on wine-devel, but
ultimately I am suspicious that wine might be the source of the problem - if I
find out otherwise will I'll close the bug.

Well, quartus was complaining something about sentinel driver , and ntoskernel
and hal.dll that could not be loaded. Maybe it ckecks only if the files are
present or so . You might try yourself , the download is free and you can sign
up quickly.
Anyway, this bug is about installing the application, and as i said that seems
to work fine now, so i think we might just close this bug.
