They never set the primary buffer format so it defaults to 22050Hz 8 bit stereo and anything played will be resamples to that format. You would have the same problem running this program on Windows 98 with DirectX 6 or 7 (which is about where wine is right now). They can get away with this on 2000 and XP because later versions of DirectX don't have a real primary buffer in which everything gets mixed into like wine. It is a stock Slackware 10.1 system, stock kernel.org kernel 2.6.13 SMP (HT) on a P4 system with 768MB of RAM. I was running with the kernel default of CONFIG_NOHIGHMEM but it was suggested I use CONFIG_HIGHMEM4G to get the 2G/2G split instead of the default 3G/1G... no change. Wine is compiled clean from CVS HEAD (as of 20051014), rm -rf ~/.wine before make install. Running as a normal user. Also tried forcing windows version to Win2k and copying comctl32.dll over (and forcing native instead of builtin use of comctl32). Almost all apps fail immediately and with a very very similar backtrace. Some will get the InstallShield "initializing" progressbar, some just crash right away without putting anything on the screen. I'm running xorg 6.8.1 on an ATI Radeon Mobility M7 LW (Mobility 7500) -- this is an IBM Thinkpad T30. An example backtrace from a failed setup.exe attempt is at the bottom of this bug report (palm desktop 4.14), but two different versions of Agendus also fail pretty much the same way. Please note that there are libraries loaded above 0x7fffffff, which I was told is unusual. I am using Fedora Core 4 and installed the 20050930 FC3.i686 rpm. I also have an NVIDIA G-Force 4 video card and am using the drivers given by nvidia. I have done nothing special to the system, so I see no reason why the display would be anything but :0.0, which is what the $DISPLAY variable is set to. I tried to restrict and unrestrict my xhosts, but neither would work. It seems the redraw is correct but the original draw is not. The font problem also affects a proprietary application which uses these fonts (I think MS Sans Serif). Changing the Windows version to NT40, as suggested by the fixme doesn't help. It's obviously part of the copy protection scheme, ZBrush uses a serial number. We are creating the toolbar using CreateTollbarEx In windows the bitmaps in the common control library (including STD_DELETE) are included. I tried adding these bitmaps explicitly using the code TBADDBITMAP tba; tba.hInst = HINST_COMMCTRL; tba.nID = IDB_STD_LARGE_COLOR; SendMessage(hwndToolBar, TB_ADDBITMAP, 15, (LPARAM)&tba); I have also trie using CreateWindowEx to create the toolbar. Both tof these fail. If you explicitly add the icons like above, then only those icons display and not any custom icons you specify. I also get some other weird behavior (a listview not displays a files content for exemple). If you do not explicity add the common control icons then the custom icons appear but the ones like STD_DELETE do not. I believe the CreateToolBarEx and CreateWindowEx have problems when you add resources from another HINSTANCE (common control library). Could someone check that the CreateTolBarEx should include icons from the common control library. I did, however, get the standard installer to mostly work. By 1) installing wine-config-sidenet-1.8.6.tgz (http://sidenet.ddo.jp/winetips/config.html) first (installs IE), then 2) running "apt-get install wine" on my Debian system, with wine.sourceforge.net in my sources list, to upgrade to 20050930, then 3) running Turbo Lister's setupUS.exe, I was walked through the installation. None of the fonts were visible, so I had to do it blind, but that's mostly an issue of clicking the second button from the left in every dialog. On the third dialog, the one with two text fields, I had to type my "company" name blind in the second field. I can then run the software, and it fetches my information from eBay (presumably, even though I cannot see it; it would not have allowed me to proceed if it couldn't download my info.) Then it croaks when the main app window appears, as per Bug 3496. So I don't think this bug is valid, and could be replaced with an AppDB entry telling you to have IE installed first, if that indeed is the determining factor. Rather I always get this in konsole: Warning: Language '' was not recognized, defaulting to English. ANY Way of solving this? 2) In winecfg, I do not see icons properly. See attachment.
