DllOverrides are modified using winecfg in recent wines and .wine/config file is
not used (and ignored afaik), so don't use it. winecfg is a graphical front-end
to edit Wine's configuration.

just before the exceptions are thrown, it tries "to do " something with
riched20.dll. Maybe you could try run with native riched20.dll:
copy riched20.dll from a native windowspartition, or download from
www.dlldump.com (if you have a valid windowslicense), put it in
~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system and run WINEDLLOVERRIDES="riched20=n" wine
bw600.exe. What does that give?

I was hesitant at first, since I had been using Topo! happily in wine , but a
quick check revealed that it no longer works with the latest CVS version.
After a cvs update -PAd, I did a make uninstall, moved my .wine out of the way,
and then executed tools/wineinstall. Once it was in place, I verified that my
old .wine and the freshly created one differed only in the basic local
customizations and the registry entries for my installed software, so I swapped
the old and new .wine's.
I've never directly edited user.reg, and it didn't seem to have a DllOverrides
section, so I made the changes requested in comment #7 in my .wine/config.
When I loaded mounted the installation cdrom and executed
"wine /media/cdrecorder/setup.exe", InstallShield died with:
1608: Unable to create InstallDriver instance.
Return code: -2147221021
[which looks suspiciously like an all 1 bitvector]
The controlling window shows:
moby(.wine) wine /media/cdrecorder/setup.exe

I think this is a bad snap shot depending on what your configuration. Just
follow the CVS update instructions and it should compile. There have been
several bugs for this problem that have been opened and closed. Searching

Hello,
I have a dual-CPU PIII 1GHz PC with plenty of disk and RAM space. I am using
Linux Slackware 10.1 with upgraded 2.6 Kernel (running the dual CPUs) which
has worked for months without obvious errors.
I downloaded the latest version of the Wine 20050830 sources and tried to
compile it, and it stopped with the following error:
make *** [dlls] Error2
The details:
./configure finished without errors or any (obvious) missing requirements.
Running make depend && make, I got,
in ~/dlls/wldap32
1st compilation (add.c) gives:
'In file included from add.c:39:
winldap_private.h:289: error: parse error before 'BerElement'

" " :322: " " " " "

make[2] *** [add.o] Error1'
... then backing out to the 'make' error above.
Hope this helps.

I think this is more or less a duplicate of 3219 as I expect fixing one will
fix the other.
I'm putting together a quick hack for DirectX but the proper solution is to
intergrate with x11drv and the HAL.

You could open separate bugs that block this one, there are too many bugs here
for (some should be closed) for this bug to be very usefull any more.
I've got a little bit of work on pixel shaders to finish off tommorow then
I'll split this bug out into separate bugs (if someone else hasn't done that
already)

This still does not work for me. I'm running gkrellm and after running
scramble.exe I gets bits of gkrellm here and there.
Debian testing
xserver-xfree86 4.3.0.dfsg.1-14
fvwm95 2.0.43ba-22
gkrellm 2.2.7-2
wine-cvs 20050925
In a few weeks I should be able to test with the Xorg X server but I doubt it
would make a difference. A more likely hypothesis is that your window manager
put Wine's unmanaged window on top thus hiding gkrellm's and xmms' refreshes,
while fvwm95 did not.

I am compiling it again with +debug.

One other question: If this is solved under wine, then in theory it can be
applied to crossover-office, right?
I am trying to understand the benefit of using crossover-office standard versus
wine.

I think the problem with Max Payne 2 not running in 16 bit mode is because
were being too strict when matching d3d formats to OpenGL visuals.
Max Payne is a Direct3D 8 game and Direct3D 8 is going to be moved over to
wined3d, so can someone assign this bug to me so that I can changed the
summary to get wined3d working perfectly.
n.b. DirectX includes a lot more than just Direct 3D but most of the dll's
from
DirectX 8/9 work perfectly under Wine

is still 1024x768, and places windows accordingly. The resolution switch
hotkeys do not work after wine exited, the viewport doesn't scroll and mouse
stops at its border. Learned to use "xrandr -s" to fix the situation.
Disabled glx, restarted X from the console, and got exactly the same result as
when glx was loaded, i.e. no Xlib error message, banner appears and disappears,
resolution changes and wine exits with no error message.
___ Compiled with opengl and glut enabled ___
This is as if there were no difference to the previous case. I assume that
leaving opengl support out gives me the same result as not loading glx. I once
again got the Xlib error. Other times it just shows the banner. Then either
virtual desktop window appears if virtual desktop is enabled, or the screen
resolution changes to 640x480. The virtual desktop window stays always totally
black.
Wine draws nothing onto the screen after the banner has disappeared if virtual
desktop is disabled. If I am logged in as root, wine keeps running but nothing
is seen on screen. If I am logged in as user, wine exits soon after the banner
has disappeared.
glxinfo reports everything fine if glx is loaded, except that there is no direct
rendering possible with S3 Savage.
I once had the game running, but haven't been able to replicate those settings.
I can run opengl Doom with awfully slow screen updates (that is, it does emulate
much openGL in software), so I am not sure what support wine is missing here.
Jazz2 is a jump-and-run 2D scrolling game by Epic Megagames.

Is this bug fixed ?
Does it still crash or handle filenames badly when mounted without iocharset ?
Thanks

Vitaly, can you be more specific? As a not very experienced user I would guess
stubbed out HAL.DLL would suffice.
And I am interested in why this statement is wrong. :-)
