That last error is probably the same as described in:
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3382
The only way i could get the program installed with current cvs is using native
comctl32.dll and native riched20.dll. As both bugs are already filed in other bugs
leave this one as resolved duplicate

And this is the file compressed with bzip2?
That is big file indeed.
Here is a tip from the developers list to create smaller logs:
you can add this to your user.reg file to limit size of it
(It's two lines, split for readability):
[Software\\Wine\\Debug] 1125240062
"Relayexclude"="RtlEnterCriticalSection;RtlLeaveCriticalSection;
_EnterSysLevel;_LeaveSysLevel;_CheckNotSysLevel;NtCurrentTeb;
LdrAccessResource;RtlUpperChar;kernel32.97;kernel32.98;TlsGetValue"
If that is not enough send the last part. You can use
tools like split and csplit for the job.
Here is an example using dd. Say you have a 100MB log, called wine.log
The command:
dd if=wine.log of=partwine.log bs=1000000 skip=70
will create a 30MB partwine.log (dd skips the first
70*1000000=70MB of the log)
Compress that and upload it.

No, this is v. 1.18.
Strangely I can't reproduce the problem today. I'll have to re-test on the LAN,
but I'll close bug if it no longer happens. Currently I get the sound errors,
but it doesn't crash. Maybe X was broken, and it's been fixed...

nThis:
Although the mouse seems to be working properly, the cursor moves (although
it's not visible) and clicking the mouse causes the menu to animate, the
buttons don't have any effect.
I'm not sure if this is a problem with messages or something else, I don't
have a working windows install at the moment to snoop messages.
I've attached the last few thousand lines of a log of +cursor,+message where I
press the mouse button over a menu item a few times. (+dinput doesn't log
anything)

Error-Message
I tried with cvs-20050926 (new workingdirectory, msi and *msiexec.exe=native)
and could find out, that the error seems to be related to the atempt of
installing an Extension for IE. If I do a custom Installation and choose not to
install the Extension for IE, the programm installs successfully. There is some
debug-output, but it does not cause the Installation to fail.
When I choose to install the Extension for IE, I get an error-Message
"Unhandled Exception"
"Error Number: 0x80004005
Description:
Setup will now terminate"
After clicking onto the OK-button, the Installer exits.
This is the debug-Output when choosing to install the IE-Extension:

Summary: msvcrt rtti typeid with primitive types
Product: Wine
Version: 20050211
Platform: PC

Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: critical
Priority: P2
Component: wine-misc

Trying to execute the following program causes wine to crash. Alternatively, it
may result in corruption. The program was compiled using VC6 with STLport 4.6.2;
the command line was: CL /GX /GR /MD rtti.cpp . I suspect the problem is in the
WINE MSVCRT implementation.
#include <iostream>
#include <ostream>
#include <typeinfo>
int main()
{
std::cout << typeid(float).name() << '\n';
return 0;

I have roughly the same bug with cvs-20050926. Installer starts with lots of
fixmes and some errors. Then, at some later point the process of configuring the
installer, the following Error-Message is displayed:
"Unhandled Exception"
"Error Number: 0x80040706
Description: Object reference not set
Setup will now terminate"
When I click the OK-button there are some more fixmes and errors and then I have
to kill wine.
This is the debug-output:

The 1000 lines are no enough, they show a program that is already shuttng down,

So send more, perhaps all of the log. Compressing with bzip2 reduces the size

As I said earlier, I am using wine-20050830 from Gentoo portage. The hardware in
this case was a new AMD64 machine so there are probably some sort of emulation
libraries involved here. I will check this on a straight 32-bit machine later.

In trying to port a windows-applications to many different
platforms, I got somewhat confused, and this bug report
should have gone to the mingw compiler team. But for now,
I could explore 3 different behaviors of 3 different
compiler systems: against to msvc6 wine does accept splitted
strings, and mingw has this problem with the escaped followed
by a double-f.

OK, granted my search for this bug was not very thorough, but how can this bug
be classified as Resolved when you keep getting messages such as mine?
Clearly the link in the original WINE HQ page pointing to the download of a
compilable source should be changed.
Only THEN can you claim to have fixed the all the issues associated with the
bug.
Whilst this version of source code is still downloadable you will keep getting
these problem reports.

As of CVS on the 23rd, running the game works for me.
Corrected, the underruns can lead to a unresponsive lockup, but not a crash as
you say. I've had someone else report something similar to your GLX error now,
so I believe it can be confirmed, but we need more information.

Happy to keep testing. How do I set the application /mnt/cdrom/SETUP.EXE to be a
win95 app using winecfg? The GigaSampler installation dies immediately when I
start it saying I'm not running Win95.
I had never heard of winecfg before. I ran it from the command line, moved to
/mnt/cdrom, chose SETUP.EXE and added it as an app in winecfg. I then told
winecfg that it was a Win95 app. I then tried running wine SETUP.EXE again but
it still failed. The error dialog box says
"GigaSampler requires but did not detect Windows 95.
Please start Windows 95 to run SETUP."
Sorry if I'm missing something obvious.

That patch is not portable! I tried that method already, see here:
http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-devel/2005-June/037336.html
I've written a portable patch that handles integer conversions. I sent a
message to wine-devel I thought last night to ask for comments but it hasn't
come through. It's modeled after my last patch so it should cover all the I64
quirks like before. I'll resend it to wine-patches anyways I guess.

There's a problem with X11DRV_DIB_MapColor being called with an empty color
map making the text black.

The d3dx9.h comes with DirectX SDK, it's not in Wine yet because wine doesn't
have a d3dx9 implementation in it.
Vertex shaders shouldn't cause a crash without an error being raised whatever
graphics card you have especially when you consider NVidias drivers are much
better than ATI's.
Can you try to run the demo under wine please, and I'll try and get someone
with a Nvidia card to try out Dungeon Siege 2.

I see where the CG headers are, but that still doesn't get me d3dx9.h.

Can you clarify how to do that further? I downloaded and installed the Cg
compiler (I'm impressed..an application installed successfully, and seems to
work!). I see this compiler will compile the .cg file in the demo package.
However, I'm not clear on the rest. If you just want me to run the already
compiled demo, it's not working:
err:module:import_dll Library d3dx9_24.dll (which is needed by
L"H:\\downloads\\dx9_cg_simple\\dx9_cg_simple.exe") not found
err:module:LdrInitializeThunk Main exe initialization for
L"H:\\downloads\\dx9_cg_simple\\dx9_cg_simple.exe" failed, status c0000135
Do I need to recompile it with winegcc? That's not happening either:
dx9_cg_simple.cpp:15:19: error: d3dx9.h: No such file or directory
dx9_cg_simple.cpp:16:19: error: Cg/Cg.h: No such file or directory
dx9_cg_simple.cpp:17:23: error: Cg/CgD3D9.h: No such file or directory
Regarding replicating the bug - maybe it's because you run ATI hardware, and
this is an Nvidia card?

OK, I did another "make uninstall", then a "cvs update -PAd" at Mon Sep 26
19:10:19 UTC 2005, followed by "./configure; make depend && make", and "make
install".
With a new wine install, I did "wineprefixcreate", then set 'both "msi" =
"builtin" and "*msiexec.exe" = "builtin" in the
DllOverrides section in user.reg', using winecfg [which is a big step forward,
even if it doesn't have a man page or any documentation at winehq.org. How was I
supposed to know that it exists?].
Finally, with the experiment set up as per prior comments, I did "wine
e:setup.exe" withe the Topo! install CD mounted. InstallShield started, but then
an "Internal Failure" window appeared, telling me:
Error Number 0x80040707
Description:
Clicking "OK" lead to an "InstallShield" window saying:
1628 Failed to complete installation.
Finally, I clicked "OK" there and wine exited.
The controlling shell window showed:

Jonathan, the "readme.txt file which is inside
wine-w32api-20050725.zip" (ie on sourceforge) doesn't seem to come from the wine
source.
So, who generates the zip file? Where does readme.txt come from?
Reopening, because the spelling mistake is still there in 20050830.

The 2 tests succeeded in todo block are for the "I64d" format.
I investigate to test the patch with Warcraft III for confirm the resolution.

Jonathan Ernst says that "DllOverrides are modified using winecfg in recent
wines and .wine/config file is
not used (and ignored afaik), so don't use it. winecfg is a graphical front-end
to edit Wine's configuration."
All the online documentation at winehq.org speaks only of configuring wine using
~/.wine/config.

Someone else has reported a bug with vertex shaders, my local tree is OK, I'll
find out what wrong with wine-cvs and send in a fix.
apart from that:
Sound is fairly broken at the moment, half of the games I've been able to get
working only work with sound disabled (disabling sound also speed a lot of
games up)
Installing games can be tricky,
make sure that msi and msiexec are set to builtin, and that wine is in windows
2000 mode.
If you get a lot of OLE errors then you need to switch to windows OLE.
set wine to win98 mode
Download dcom98 from msdn.microsoft.com and install it
then override the following dlls as native, builtin :
ole32, oleaut32 and rpcrt4
and if that works raise a bug against ole.
otherwise raise a bug saying that the game doesn't install.
