This bug is similiar to Bug 1641. Searching Google I found that there is a possible work around using CVS which is not an option for me. wine 20040408 Fedora Core 1 wine-20040505-1fc1winehq.athlon.rpm Notepad works well. I have tried other config settings such as "Manager" = "N" and "Y" as I have read on other searches. This game is from www.thq.com and is dated 2003. Sound problems are highly hardware and os dependent so they ofen can't be duplicated by someone else unless they have the EXACT same hardware and software configurations. A trace file is the only practical way to see what is happening on your system. Please try: WINEDEBUG="+wave,+dsound,+dsound3d" wine sof.exe which should print tons of stuff to the screen. If that works, redirect the output to a file by appending >& trace to the above command. Another thing you could try to see if wine is configured correctly is to run the sound tests in interactive mode. You can do this by going to the wine/dlls/winmm/tests directory and running: WINETEST_INTERACTIVE=1 wine winmm_test.exe.so wave and listen for the tones. They are quite nice and are eager to help. They sent me a build of Hammer 3.4 that set the DCX_CLIPSIBLINGS flag. Unfortunately, this did not fix the problem. I hacked wine such that all calls to GetDCEx() assumed the DCX_CLIPSIBLINGS flag. This did not help, either. Then I tried hacking GetDCEx() to always or-in "DCX_CACHE | DCX_CLIPSIBLINGS", which are the flags that Lionel's patch uses, and *that* fixed the problem. At least, it fixed the problem to the extent that Lionel's patch fixed the problem. That is, the stand-alone OpenGL windows now render, but OpenGL does not render when the window is a child of a 4-way splitter. Lionel, do have any ideas why the window in the four-way splitter is blank while stand-alone windows render properly? Some things I did notice. 1. If I ALT-TAB to the xterm window I started SOF in I can hear the phrase of music repeated over and over. For example, if John says Good Luck when I ALT-TAB the I hear Good Luck over and over and over until I alt-tab back. 2. My keys such as esc, etc do not work. With winealsa driver all you get is pops and clicks. The game was started from a terminal window with wine sof.exe or wine sof2.exe while in the game's home directory. I did notice that if I alt-tab while in the game and select the terminal window the game was started in I could hear noise. I mv'd my .wine directory and let wine create a new one. I updated my drives, deleted the dosdevices directory and restarted wine and created the registry and dosdevices entry. I found that I have either define a desktop size or set Managed=N with no desktop. I did notice the following: 1. Desktop=1024x764 doesn't seem to work. Wine stays at 800x600. I run xfce 4.05 and it runs at 1024x768. Initially HL comes up with a large window but the menu window is a small console window. It can be made to behave very strangely: When program is started a very small window titled "Full screen" appears on the desktop. Then nothing happens until a) you click on the window then outside the window or b) virtual terminal is changed. Then the program displays a splash screen, and clicking it starts the program. However if the latter choice is taken, the small "full screen" window reappears after the splash screen and will not go away until the main program is closed. I'll attach a screen capture to clarify. In particular the Chameleon demo runs when this problem is fixed. The error I get from the app is: GLUT: Fatal Error in DummyAppName: pixel format with necessary capabilities not found. Tracing it reveals that it calls X11DRV_DescribePixelFormat MAX_PIXELFORMATS times. So the physDev->visuals array gets filled with visuals from calls to glXChooseVisual. Then it calls X11DRV_ChoosePixelFormat which uses XGetVisualInfo and tries to match that with a value in the array which is where it fails. It seems glXChooseVisual gives different values from XGetVisualInfo. So the fix I tried was to use XGetVisualInfo in DescribePixelFormats as well. On certain fields the RETURN key is supposed to autofill information (enter your last name and it autofills the rest of the info about you). However, the RETURN key is ignored. If I open a text entry option in Remedy AR, it sees the RETURN key. To make it even more confusing, a colleague has it working - but only if logged in as him - i.e. I "ssh bobh@bobh" and run the AR app and the return key works. Of particular interest to me is the failure I get trying to run Lotus Notes R5 client. Running wine nlnotes I receive the following messages: fixme:ntdll:NtQueryVolumeInformationFile device info not properly supported on this platform fixme:file:get_default_drive_device auto detection of DOS devices not supported on this platform fixme:cdrom:CDROM_GetInterfaceInfo not implemented for BSD err:virtual:map_image Image was mapped at 0x205d0000: standard load address for a Win32 program (0x00400000) not available err:virtual:map_image Do you have exec-shield or prelink active? wine: could not load L"C:\\notes\\nlnotes.exe" as Win32 binary Apparently at version 1.9 of loader/main.c, some code was removed that changed the way memory was mapped, and the workaround for this was basically to revert to version 1.89 (this is what the FreeBSD port does). It seems that in the last few days some new functionality was added to libwine to handle this, and a new file, mmap.c, was added in libs/wine. I am assuming this is where the failure is, but I don't yet have an understanding of how this code works. I have better luck setting libGL to use libc_r, but I think the particular copy of wine I had had some other bugs. It happens when using nv or nvidia driver, doesnt matter if i use the X provided drivers or the binaries from nvidia. The data copied to the clipboard using SetClipBoardData() with any format(CF_TEXT, CF_BITMAP, etc) exists as long as the process which copied the data to Clipboard is active/alive. And will be cleared once the owner process is destroyed. To see this issue, follow the steps given below: - Start the attached sample Clipboard application (wine Clipboard.exe. Attached in ClipboardExe.Zip) - Enter the data in the edit control. Highlight some text. Click on menu item Copy (This copies the data to clipboard with format CF_TEXT) - Now see paste menu. This will be enabled and could paste the data. Also the other process could see this data and access for pasting purposes. Clicking on Paste menu item will paste the new data copied to clipboard. - NOW close the application. - Start the application again (wine Clipboard.exe) - Now see the state of menu item Paste, which will be in Gray/Disable state. Meaning data is not available.
