patch that cased it can be found (in theory). The way to do this is described here.

Summary: Framemaker 7.0 Trial Version Crashes on About Box
Opening
Product: Wine
Version: 20031212
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-misc
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: mike(a)tashcorp.net
Framemaker 7.0 hangs when the About box is opened from the top menu
(Help->About).
The trial version can be acquired (reg required) from Adobe at:
http://www.adobe.com/products/tryadobe/main.jsp#product%3D22
Framemaker required IE6 and a DCOM install. Wine 20031212 was the last
snapshot that I could successfully install IE6, and thus became the baseline
for comparison.
To install Framemaker:
1. Download Wine 20031212
2. Apply patch to dlls/ntdll/virtual.c
http://www.winehq.org/hypermail/wine-patches/2004/02/0212.html
(this has been checked into CVS and will be available in the first snapshot
after 20040213)
3. Compile & Install
4. Use the IE 6 install script found here:
http://bylands.dur.ac.uk/~mh/wine-ie/
5. Install DCOM98.EXE - WINEDLLOVERRIDES="ole=n" wine dcom98.exe
6. Install Framemaker 7.0
I will post an output error log later today.

it seems this one duplicates bug 1503, as crash pops at same file/line of code:
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1503
there was even some discussion rised regarding that stuff:
http://www.winehq.org/hypermail/wine-devel/2003/12/0336.html
the problem it seems to be non-trivial.
and i still have no time to make tests regarding 16-bit apps and messages its
scrollbar handles :-(. Mirek, are about to investigate on this problem?
OTOH, patch-hiding-the-problem could be done by commenting mentioned line in
scroll.c to help you resolve critical situation. AFAIR, it helped me in my case.

exception, including the lightweight Windows Calculator. Here is Wine's output:

The BMS Business Music System from NCH Swift Sound Software Fails to retain
it's registration for more than the current session. After buying a
registration key for the program I entered my ifo, and the key. At this point
all the other features of the program went to work. After terminating BMS, and
starting it again later (wine bms.exe) the program reported as unregistered, and
the features failed to work until I entered the registration key again. The
function that failed to operate is fetch files via FTP. The ine binary used was
the official slackware package from sourceforge. I do have ten megs worth of log
if someone is interested in trying to fix this bug.
Thanks,
Buck Rekow

I'm having the same problem on most programs. So far I've only gotten freecell
to work. The problem started after I updated wine on Debian testing. Programs
that used to work, give this error message.

Summary: Crash when playing sound in winearts.drv
Product: Wine

Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-multimedia
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: andre(a)masella.no-ip.org
I have recently upgraded to KDE 3.2 (well, CVS) and WINE began to crash when any
application tried to access the sound card. I have tried the latest stable
version of WINE and several CVS releases (last one check out on Feb 26) and
several releases of aRts (the stable one included with 3.2 and the current CVS).
The problem seems to be between aRts and gthreads. I have recompiled glib with
no effect. The following is a crash and back trace from Lucas Arts'
Grimfandango, but any app that accesses the sound card will produce the same
output. I have GCC 3.3.2.

directory /home/root; starting in windows directory.

Summary: When textbox is told to scroll to end of text, it
doesn't
Product: Wine
Version: 20040213
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P3
Component: wine-gui
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: wfrobozz(a)hotmail.com
The bug occurs when using Waste (http://waste.sourceforge.net/). During
conversations with people on it, the text is added to the box but it doesn't
scroll to the bottom of the textbox.
I looked at Waste's source and as far as I can tell it's coded to scroll to the
end of the text. I've tried using both the dlls built into Wine and Windows
98SE's, but the result is the same.

This is the debugger output for Elf Bowling
This is the debugger output for Elf Bowling under winedbg. Note that the error
in Bug #2054 doesn't actually crash the application (or Wine), but I thought
this would still be useful in solving the problem causing the bug.

Great!
Just applied and yes everything fixed. Thank you for your work.
The whole program could get the 'gold' status if just an annoying ALSA
voice-record buffer under run could be fixed. But that's bug 2046.
Thanks again,
Paul

Whenever you have time, Elf Bowling can be downloaded at http://games.nstorm.com/Nelfbowl.exe to see if you can reproduce the error
messages. I'll see if I can provide any debug info on my own (I only have a
dial-up connection).

OK, should work fine now with the latest patch I just sent (sometimes I hate C,
especially when handling unsigned numbers :-) ).

OK, managed to reproduce it on my box ... And it really seems to be some GL bug
: when I replaced all glyphs by the one for 'A', I had 'A' displayed when typing
'<'... But when I did the reverse (ie replace all glyphs by the one for '<'),
nothing was displayed at all.
I find this completely weird !

Summary: Win32 _EnterSysLevel errors (Elf Bowling)
Product: Wine
Version: 20040213
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P3
Component: wine-binary
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: bumm13(a)yahoo.com
The following messages are displayed in the console when attempting to run Elf Bowling by NVision Design:
fixme:file:DeviceIo_MMDEVLDR (5,(nil),0,0x4035fa4c,4,0x4067f96c, (nil)):stub
fixme:win32:SetCriticalSectionSpinCount critsection=0x7ff063b8: spincount=1000 not supported
fixme:win32:SetCriticalSectionSpinCount critsection=0x7ff063b8: spincount=1000 not supported
err:win32:_EnterSysLevel (0x407d2c00, level 2): Holding 0x40893380, level 3. Expect deadlock!
The _EnterSysLevel error seems to be the result of the user attempting to start the Elf Bowling game by pushing the graphical red function buttons at the bottom of the screen (Elf Bowling runs with a full screen); when the red buttons are clicked with the mouse pointer, nothing happens. This doesn't actually crash the game (or Wine), but the game cannot function either. Note that I had to put some effort into getting this error message as Elf Bowling takes up the entire screen; I had to press Alt+Tab, make the Gnome Terminal process appear, and "quick click" Control-C to kill Wine to allow the desktop (X11) to reappear and become usable again.

Summary: Warcraft 3 install fails

Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal

Component: wine-x11driver
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: lameaim(a)bredband.tiscali.se
When launching wine Install.exe from the Warcraft3 CD, the install fails with a
messagebox saying "ScreenStack :: realize(): BitBlt 2".
Console output only shows:
fixme:bitblt:X11DRV_BitBlt potential optimization - client-side DIB copy
fixme:bitblt:X11DRV_BitBlt potential optimization - client-side DIB copy
fixme:dialog:MSGBOX_OnInit task modal msgbox ! Not modal yet.
The Warcraft3:The Frozen Throne installer produces the same three fixmes, but
otherwise it works fine.
I tried it on 20031212, 20040213 and today's (Feb. 24) CVS.

Lotus Notes can not attach files to a message, saying: "Error reading the
metafile located on the clipboard". It also happens when forwarding a message
that contains an attachment. Tried back to wine-20030619-0, and worked ok
(this problem happened also on 20040121).
This is what I could copy from the term when tried to attach a file:

My system is Linux Mandrake 9.2, 1.2 Ghz Athlon, A7V
When selecting from 3D accerlation modes only my lowest 240x320 (a few versions
of this mode) and my highest res 1280x1024 are selectable. In non accel mode, I
have all the modes available. In the game in acceleration mode, the graphics
are rendered correctly, but the framerate is about 1 frame a min. However I am
still able to press escape to switch modes or leave the game.
The output (editted for space):

Summary: ALSA record creates buffer under run
Product: Wine
Version: 20040213
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-multimedia
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: polleke(a)meosource.com
Hello,
I have a program called ASRC (freeware). Available for download here:
http://www.asrc.info
My settings:
AlSA driver with the 2.6.3 kernel and 1.02c drivers (those are the ones in
2.6.3).
OSS doesn't work at all here with this program.
The problem:
Click Settings->Audio and do an audio test. If everything goes well you'll hear
yourself back. And see in the shell:
"Max RMS for squelch: 700.678.
Ran out of dst buffer space.
Max RMS for test: 700.678. Max Peak: 3000.000000. RMS2Squelch: 0.992782."
Those lines are made by the program, not by Wine.
Restart the app:
Do the audio test again and you'll heard nonsense and see (notice the very high
squelch number):
"Max RMS for squelch: 6513.454590.
Ran out of dst buffer space.
Max RMS for test: 6466.442383. Max Peak: 31085.000000. RMS2Squelch: 0.992782.
Analysis: 0x0003"
When annalyzing with "--debugmsg +wave". You'll see at some
point:
"warn:wave:widRecorder buffer under run! 230 bytes dropped."
And after that a very fast increasing log (70MB in 10 seconds) with all lines
like this:
"trace:wave:widRecorder bytesRead=536870848 (direct)
trace:wave:widRecorder bytes = 2048"
Restarting the app won't help.
This buffer underrun doesn't always happen after the first restart. But when it
finally happens, it won't work anymore untill.... I'm not sure. It's starting to
work sometimes after a while. Sometimes not at all.
But if the record works (low squelch output, and you heard yourself), it keeps
on working as long as you don't restart the app.
"out of dst buffer space."
These messages are also some buffer error but I think they are not really
related to this record problem. They come up only with playback. But that work ok.
I hope you're able to recreate the problem. I'll attach a file with:
--debugmsg +wave
Of a run of just ennough time to get the app running. But with the buffer
under run line created by Wine.
Regards,
Paul van Schayck
Ps. Now I'm not even able to hear myself after a reboot of the whole box. Still
this buffer underrun.

Well, that's a 40MB log for even be able to type 3 of those characters. On a
128kbit/s upload I'm not going to do that.
The way to input text is to type and look at the lowest part.
Regards,
Paul
Fun note:
And to see abit more nice looking OpenGl things you should download this sector
file unpack it and load it inside the menu with 'open':
http://www.dutchvacc.nl/Downloads/Amsterdam%20Radar.zip
Click on MAP in the upper left and enable some boxes. Enjoy.

How can I reproduce this on my version of ASRC ? Ie what steps I need to take to
be able to type these characters (for the moment, except the double click to get
the yellow ruler, I did not see any way to input stuff :-) ).
Otherwise, you could attach a +opengl,+event,+key,+keyboard log, I will see what
I can do with it.
