I don't have a copy of Windows handy to make sure it works there.

Summary: Cut and paste: gnome terminal overrides Wine

A Windows user running Centos 5 in VMWare,
with Tanner S-Edit inside the Centos instance in Wine (1.3.15?)
and Microsoft Office running natively in Windows,
noticed the following problem:
Copying from S-Edit (on Linux) and pasting into Office (on Windows)
worked fine.
However, if you run Gnome Terminal, select some text in it, and do Copy,
then copy from S-Edit, and then paste into Office, the text that
is pasted is the text that was copied earlier from Gnome Terminal.
If you then close Gnome Terminal and paste into Office, the S-Edit
text you copied earlier is pasted.
So it seems Gnome Terminal is offering some data type that Wine isn't, and
VMWare's clipboard integration prefers that data type.
The little windows clipboard viewer at
http://www.codeguru.com/cpp/w-p/clipboard/externallinks/article.php/c9155/C…
might be helpful in diagnosing this, I'll ask the user to try that.
I haven't found a similar simple clipboard viewer which shows details
of what's being offered on the various clipboard-like mechanisms
(as opposed to a clipboard manager, which tries to hide details) for Linux yet.

regression test results
I upgraded to Wine 1.7.52 and I noticed that drag and drop in Foxit Reader
isn't working anymore.
It was indeed working with Wine 1.6.2 I had before.
I tried to delete "~/.wine/", but that didn't help.
Then I ran a regression test and I figured it out.
wine-1.7.48-162-ge1f3536 is the last working version.
b78a9f1aa14d2d43ee7e62f617a3c7bdf576dd4b by Damjan Jovanovic is the bad commit.
The OS is Linux Mint KDE 17.1.
Please let me know if you need any more information.
Thanks.

Hi All,
The free FoxitReader 3.0 and 2.3 will not install. You can download them from:
http://www.foxitsoftware.com/downloads/older_ver.html
Version 2.3 supports the creation of fill in forms (I need this). V3 has this
removed.
After running setup, you get: "z:\home\CDs\WindowsInternet\Adobe\setup.exe,
could not open file, File not found" (z:\home\CDs\WindowsInternet\Adobe is
where I have stored FoxitReader-2.3.3902_enu_Setup.exe).

I found that setting something in winecfg help a lot:
1. disable "allow the window manager to decorate the windows"
2. disable "Allow the window manager to control the windows"

The game seems to work perfectly besides missing sound.
The only override I used was disabled gameoverlay.
Tested with 64-bit prefix(Steam).
The game is currently in a $2 bundle for another week -

The logs don't seem to mention anything related to missing sound, or maybe I'm
simply blind.

Screenshot with this problem
Steps to reproduce (If you do not know this software, please take a look at the
screenshot):
1. Install LMMS -
https://github.com/LMMS/lmms/releases/download/v1.2.1/lmms-1.2.1-win64.exe
2. Install dexed VST -
https://github.com/asb2m10/dexed/releases/download/v0.9.4hf1/dexed-0.9.4-wi…
3. Open LMMS
4. Open the instruments plugins tab
5. Drag VeSTige to Song Editor window
6. Click Vestige in Song editor to show Vestige GUI
7. In Vestige Window click green folder icon
8. Go to C:\Program Files\Steinberg\VSTPlugins and select Dexed.dll
9. Click Open
The plugin window will be refreshed partly at the location of the mouse.
Workaround: Change plugin embedding in Settings to No embedding.
On windows 10 this problem is not present, in WINE the problem occurs in the
case of LMMS 32 bits and 64 bits. So you can test on 32bit version too
(https://github.com/LMMS/lmms/releases/download/v1.2.1/lmms-1.2.1-win32.exe).

Log from opening sample PDF and clicking on signature
Tested with FoxitReader612.12241_enu_Setup.exe and sample signed PDF downloaded
from http://blogs.adobe.com/security/SampleSignedPDFDocument.pdf.
To reproduce:
1. Install Foxit Reader.
2. Open sample signed PDF from Adobe.
3. Click on the signature in the document.
4. A Signature Validation Status window pops up that says:
Signature is INVALID.
- The document has been altered or corrupted since the Signature was applied.
- The signer's identity has not yet been verified.
5. Clicking on the Signature Properties button brings up the Signature
Properties window, but the Show Certificate button is greyed out.
In Windows (tested XP & 7 in a VM), the first time you try to validate the
signature the message in the Signature Validation Status window is:
Signature validity is UNKNOWN.
- The document has not been modified since the signature was applied.
- The signer's identity is unknown because it has not been included in your
list of trusted identities and none of its parent certificates are trusted.
- The certificate has exceeded the time of validity.
However, in Windows the Show Certificate button on the Signature Properties
window works and takes you to a dialog that allows you to import the
certificate. Once that is done, the message from clicking on the signature is:
Signature is VALID, signed by John B Harris ,jbharris(a)adobe.com>
- The document has not been modified since this signature was applied.
- The signer's identity is valid.
- The certificate has exceeded the time of validity.
I'm attaching a log from opening the sample PDF and clicking on the signature
in a clean wineprefix. Copying mfc42u.dll and msasn1.dll to the wineprefix's
system32 directory gets rid of the console error messages about them, but does
not change the app's behavior.

Hello,
Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 has no background music at all.
On the WineHQ I did read there is a workaround for this: convert wma files from
this directory: ".../drive_c/Program Files/Steam/SteamApps/common/Rollercoaster
Tycoon 3 Gold/Music" to mp3. but it doesn't work. I tried to convert them to
wav format too, but it doesn't run either. Finally I do a winetricks
quartz...still no success.
Thank you for your help.

Hi everyone
Most of you probably know Stephen Hawking, and also know that we has a computer
that speaks for him.
This software he uses is the ACAT (Assistive Context-Aware Toolkit), that was
developed by Intel and was released as free software some time ago.
My wife works with person with desabilities, and now I see that there s a lot
of people that need to use this software, so they can communicate.
I'd like to make ACAT works on a linux system so it'll be easier for everyone
so they don't need to expend more money with windows.
The setup consist of installing ACAT:
https://github.com/01org/acat/releases/download/v1.00.0/ACATSetup.exe
And after that, if needed, install a language package, for example:
https://github.com/01org/acat/releases/download/v1.00.0/ACATPack-Portuguese…
My OS is a Mint 18.1.
When running Acat.exe within mint, the installation seems to be ok, but when I
try to execute it I face this:
rafael@HP-Notebook ~/Downloads $ wine ACAT
wine: cannot find L"C:\\windows\\system32\\ACAT.exe"
Wine version:
rafael@HP-Notebook ~/Downloads $ wine --version
wine-2.0.1
Please help me to make ACAT work at linux and let's help those that really need
help.
Any question I'll be here to help on everything I can. I don't have too much
time because I'm working on my Mastering degree, but I'll do my best to
feedback every time you need.
Thanks for the amazing project!

Hello folks,
as it says. I've reported it to x64dbg project as well since they switched the
debug engine implementation to use native API for attaching to processes.
https://github.com/x64dbg/x64dbg/issues/2525
Copy/pasta from there:
...
Symptom: attaching to any 32-bit or 64-bit process results in x32dbg/x64dbg
crash. If x32dbg/x64dbg is registered as default crash handler you get a nice
debugger crash "fork" bomb ;-)
It crashes on unimplemented NtCreateDebugObject() which is native API.

Apparently this debugging functionality which makes use of native API was
switched to being a debug engine default here:
https://github.com/x64dbg/TitanEngine/commit/0a1c3236b84ab1e6022116e38df1cc…
("Make SafeAttach the default")
Previously it could be controlled by *SafeAttach* config setting which is still
there but now no longer usable:
https://github.com/x64dbg/x64dbg/blob/dad16543c320640fe681b8d897235bf8d6c30…
--- snip ---
SetEngineVariable(UE_ENGINE_SAFE_ATTACH, settingboolget("Engine",
"SafeAttach"));
--- snip ---
A workaround exists: use the last snapshot before the breaking change:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/x64dbg/files/snapshots/snapshot_2020-11-05…
As already mentioned a simple stub prevents the crash but doesn't make
debugging work.

0144:fixme:process:NtDebugActiveProcess (0x214 (nil)), stub!
--- snip ---
I will create follow-up bug(s) to cover the missing functionality.

STDOUT / STDERR log
Since upgrading from wine-staging-5.21*, the Battle.net launcher crashes after
login in about 1 of 3 times.
After the crash, the Blizzard crash reporter comes up.
I've enabled the virtual desktop via winecfg and I'm running Battle.net by
executing:
explorer.exe /desktop=shell,1920x1080 "C:\\Program Files (x86)\\StarCraft
II\\StarCraft II.exe"
I'm using a dual monitor setup. And I think the crash might only happen if I
move the mouse out of the virtual desktop to my second monitor AFTER entering
my password in the Battle.net login dialog.
Sadly the bug isn't completely deterministic. So I need some more time for
detailed testing.
Wine version: wine-staging-5.22**

ntdll: Implement ProcessImageInformation class in
NtQueryInformationProcess().
It looks like in a not PE build process->views on the server side is always
empty, and as a result mapping.c,find_mapped_view() returns NOT_MAPPED_VIEW.
There's no a single DLL in the process->views, and that's a real regression,
probably caused by the movement to PE/ntdll unixlib introduction.

In Windows print preview, drawing commands embedded
between BeginPath and EndPath have line widths that
are way too wide. It appears that the same width
(in pixels) is used in the print preview as was used
for the main application window. Also, if you use
the print preview zoom button, the line width remains
the same, suggesting that it is not being adjusted
for the changes in scale.
If drawing commands are not embedded between BeginPath
and EndPath, then the print preview appears to work
correctly.
I am attaching a screen capture of the main window and
the print preview window. Also, I am attaching a
simple Windows program that can be used for debug
purposes. Also attached is a code snippet from the
Windows program.

During the lockdown I have some free time and noticed that there is no Dutch
translation of the README yet. (Anyone reading this file at all?) So I'm trying
to translate the original English version. So far I have noticed two things:
>From the README:
Basic requirements:
You need to have the X11 development include files installed
(called xlib6g-dev in Debian and XFree86-devel in Red Hat).
The xlib6g-dev package no longer exists in Debian.
I think Wine needs the libx11-xcb-dev package.
Optional support libraries:
Configure will display notices when optional libraries are not found
on your system. See https://wiki.winehq.org/Recommended_Packages for
https://wiki.winehq.org/Recommended_Packages redirects to
https://wiki.winehq.org/Building_Wine
Will this redirection persist or is it more convenient to adjust it?

Quest Error Log
I know that dotnet 4.0 doesn't fully work as of yet. However I wanted to submit
a report because it might improve the situation.
It should be noted that I am running the staging version. However I haven't
tested the issue in normal Wine. Therefore I haven't submitted it as a staging
specific issue yet.
So after creating a 32bit prefix and installing Dotnet 4.0 by using Winetricks,
Quest will outright crash. It will refuse to boot unless you run it from
terminal. Once you run it from terminal, Quest will spit out an error report. I
have posted the crash log and attached it.
Quest can be downloaded at the following site should you want to recreate the
issue.

It calls
IDirect3DeviceManager9::GetVideoService(&IID_IDirectXVideoDecoderService), and
expects that to succeed.
Technically a regression, it was able to handle failure from
IDirect3DDeviceManager9::OpenDeviceHandle().
Disabling dxva2.dll is also a workaround.

Hello folks,
as it says. Tb3x is a TAPI 3.x test tool/suite to execute all TAPI3 methods
available via ITxxx interfaces and receive TAPI3 events. The COM-based TAPI was
introduced as 3.x with Windows XP. Wine doesn't provide it at all.
I didn't found any other real world applications using COM-based TAPI yet, so
consider it a low priority one.

Now that bug #24725 has been fixed, I tried the other King's Bounty games

Native d3dx9_36.dll is a workaround.
There is a demo for KB:AP available on Steam:

Other, non-Steam demos can be found elsewhere on the net, but they're protected
with Starforce as far as I remember from my previous testings.

Microsoft provides sample applications for use with their Tablet SDK.
I am running a sample that allows basic ink writing and recognition under
Wine-1.1.1.
For it to work, InkObj.DLL and Wisptis.exe binaries are required. I install
them via the Microsoft Windows Journal Viewer. InkObj requires unimplemented
functions of GdiPlus, so I install it using winetricks.
Also some text recognizer must be installed. I own Tablet XP (1 license) so I
copy a recognizer dll and another required file from my XP partition to ~/.wine
and register them.
Now when I launch "BasicRecognition.exe", it fails in it's initialization
sequence (judging by the source code) and gives me some output.
The Installation script and output log are attached.
Seems to be some OLE (or RPC) problems as several are mentioned in the output.

Terminal messages from launch of client and immediately exiting.
This is a regression starting at 1.3.32 in the virtual world client "There".
This is still present as of 1.3.34, even though that release fixed similar
issues.
The text is not visible in most dialogs/windows, including IM windows, the
Organizer, exit confirmation dialog, various text entry dialogs, basically any
windows that can be dragged outside of the client window. I think, but not
certain, that it is related to Qt. In text entry dialogs, the cursor can be
seen and it moves when typing. It is worth noting that the windows have
transparency as long as they are completely inside the client window.
Text appears correctly in other areas such as the menu, Communicator (buddy
list), ChangeMe, and elements connected to the 3D world. The buddy list and
ChangeMe looks identical in style to the problem windows, except they are only
rendered inside the client window. I'm certain that most of those elements use
Flash. From my understanding, the developers plan to transition all Flash
elements to Qt shortly after it opens to the public.
The client can be downloaded from http://there.com/download and the issue can
be reproduced without an account by launching the client and then exiting,
where an affected confirmation dialog is displayed.

Launch app, for example with

Don't log in, choose Open Bridge Movie..., open a file 00ittsf8.lin from the

Then I can minimize the window, it goes down to the taskbar and is still

wmctrl doesn't see it too.

The output of WinUAE can be rendered using DirectDraw (default), Direct3D or
OpenGL. If WinUAE is set to use OpenGL, disabling the output filter (which
reverts to DirectDraw output) causes WinUAE to crash.
The console output on crashing begins:
fixme:dbghelp:dump_system_info fill in CPU vendorID and feature set
err:ntdll:RtlpWaitForCriticalSection section 0x7d1da4c0 "x11drv_main.c:
X11DRV_CritSection" wait timed out in thread 0019, blocked by 0009, retrying
(60 sec)
wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x000005e0 at address 0x7edfcaa9
(thread 0009), starting debugger...
To demonstrate:
- Run WinUAE
- Select a disk image for drive DF0: in the Floppy drives page, e.g.
rsi1.adf.gz from ftp://ftp.coresystems.de/pub/uae/rsi1.adf.gz
- In the filter page, check the Enable box and select the OpenGL filter.
- Click OK to start the emulation.
- After a few seconds press F12 to bring up the settings window.
- In the Filter page, uncheck the Enable box.
- To work around Wine bug 10643, click in the main window and press F12.
- Click OK to dismiss the settings window. WinUAE crashes.
Attached is the console output on crashing. I can attach a minidump file if
needed.

This VST2 Plugin crashes everytime I close the DAW.
You can use it without problems until you try to close the DAW. It was working
without problems on Wine 5 and the bug appeared at some point in wine 5
staging.. and it was not fixed in wine 6.0.
I am using Ardour 6.5 as my DAW on both Debian testing and Ubuntu 20.10.

When the game is running, it seems to be unable to do anything that requires
the ability to host a direct connection. In most circumstances this is not
noticeable as the game will fall back to using rockstar servers when direct is
not available.
However, if you have multiple players behind the same home router, they will
experience symptoms of this issue, as the game expects to be able to use
p2p/direct connectivity between clients on a home network.
This includes:
* Inability to join an invite-only or friend-only session hosted by either
* Inability to join a public (or hosted by another player) session if either
player is already in it; as soon as one connects, the other cannot join, and
vice-versa. This can be worked around consistently by disabling UPnP on the
home router. Workaround only works for joining public sessions.
* Inability to join a heist hosted by either (even when started from a public
or 3rd-party hosted session)
These were tested and confirmed with 4 accounts at 4 computers at 2 locations.
Tested with respective firewalls enabled/disabled. Players at different
locations could connect to each other without issue; players at the same
location could not.
This issue does not manifest if one of the computers is Windows [tested W10
build 1803]. It can join or be joined to local friend-only/private sessions as
you'd expect.
====Steps used to produce logs (on Majaro Linux)====

Launch game in Story Mode, then launch a Friend-only Online session.
Once both are at this point, try connecting either of them to the other.
GTA On-screen Messages:
Alert: Getting GTA Online session details
Alert: Unable to connect to game session.
========================
This affects both wine and wine-staging, but I could not get logs from vanilla
wine as GTA 5 in recent versions does not get past the socialclub launcher.

Bug #: 31881
Summary: Silverlight 5.x can't individualize

Status: NEW
Severity: normal

ReportedBy: ehoover(a)mines.edu
Depends on: 31589
Classification: Unclassified
After working around Bug #31589 (attachment 41923) Silverlight 4.x is able to
individualize; however, Silverlight 5.x still has problems. It appears to
create the individualization files and then delete them after it fails to
connect to a named pipe:
0059:KERNEL32.CreateFileA(020ab990
"\\\\.\\pipe\\lrpc\\keysvc",c0000000,00000000,00000000,00000003,00000000,00000000)
ret=7e87340e
0059:Ret KERNEL32.CreateFileA() retval=ffffffff ret=7e87340e
This named pipe business is not attempted with Silverlight 4.x, so creating
this pipe would probably do the trick. A little googling finds this
documentation:

When using USVFS (through ModOrganizer 2), it will hook NtQueryDirectoryFile,
and its implementation will occasionally underfill the buffer, even if there
are more directory entries to be read.
Due to this check in FindFirstFileExW:
if (!has_wildcard || info->data_len < info->data_size - max_entry_size)
{
...
info->data_size = 0; /* we read everything */
}
It will stop FindNextFileW from reading more. Windows doesn't seem to exhibit
this behavior.
Removing the `info->data_len < info->data_size - max_entry_size` check allows
it to work properly.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to find any reference to why that check exists. My
best guess after looking through the source code is that it's an optimization,
as the code should still run fine if wine's NtQueryDirectoryFile implementation
underfills the buffer (therefore indicating that there are no more files needed
to be read).
So far I've tested many various applications with the check patched out, with
no obvious regressions.

Probably unfair to compare, but as of late (sorry, do not have a bisected
commit) d3d12 performance in WoW is roughly 50% of that of DXVK w/d3d11
I use these two patches still tho, and have not tried without them:
https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=64022&action=diffhttps://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=63174&action=diff
(If the problem is solved, and these are not necessary anymore, please tell)
Preset 10, water and shadow a notch down. No MSAA (as MSAA is somewhat bugged
with vkd3d... creates seethrough textures some places).
vkd3d:
gpu usage: 32%
fps: 45
cpu usages per core: 0:74% / 1:56% /2-6:<40% (HT threads lower).
DXVK:
gpu usage: 53%
fps: 81
cpu usages per core: 0:82% / 1:73% / 2:64% /3-6:<50% (HT threads lower).
This is with a RTX2070 and Intel i7-8700K
I think there is some problem with the water effects, as when using DXVK it
looks "normal", and effect changes related to ingame setting. With vkd3d it
seems its just "low" that make a difference in appearance.
What kind of logs is needed to provide some useful information about this?
Doing a trace log will fill GB's pretty quick, but i should be able to do a
login and change water effects perhaps, and see if that provides something
useful?
