Corel install fine (using wine desktop and managed="N"). On the first run, it shows the splash screen, does some stuff, then when it's "creating working environment", is crashes: Unhandled exception: page fault on read access to 0xc6dccd32 in 32-bit code (0x42e356d8). Happens also than I compile the program using winemaker. I can mail the test program (very small) I would fix the bug by myself. Unfortunatelly I do not know enough about Linux, only C and C++ on MS :-( It looks like that W2K hides the Dialog during Moving, Wine does not. For read operations, the pointer starts on the beggining of the file; and, for write operations, the pointer is forwarded to the end of file. Since november version of Wine this is not happening any more. I have an application that consults a file before trying to store some information on it. On the read procedure, nothing is got because the pointer is already on the end of file. But this should happen only when an write operation is performed. The opening options for the file are as follows: "fd = open(NomeArq, O_APPEND | O_RDWR | O_BINARY, S_IREAD | S_IWRITE );". I need to agree that this should not be the right flags for a reading procedure, but it served to found this problem. You can try with any file. Store some information and close it. Open it again with the flags above, and try to read the same information. You will get nothing because the file pointer will be already pointing to the end of the file. It's a failure. At one time it worked - at least based on bug reports and other sites like Franks. I did the following. 1. Install wine. 2. Setup config, winecheck is happy. 3. Tryed half life two ways a) installed Half-Life from CD, couldn't update to 1.1.0. Did wine hlupdate.exe and it flashed a window very quickly (the screen blinked) and then returned to the terminal window. b) Used an existing HL install that was at 1.10 and worked under Winex. I can start HL once, get the menu, do config, and then load a game. However, subsequent attempts cause HL to show the menu, then show an hourglass and never allow me to do anything. I have gone throught the troubleshooting guide. I don't get a segfault though, but never ending threads that ends with an Unhandled exception. My setup consists of a linuxbox that gets all authentication from LDAP. The root user kan run wine just fine, ordinary users cannot. Root isn't authenticated from LDAP. Running a name-cache on the klient solves the problem.
