With current CVS, the setup gets to 14pc and stops, the relay log got to over
700MBs before I killed wine, so for now I'm attaching the standard output, after
over 3 hours the debugger didn't appear so I had to kill wine.
BTW I wanted to chenge the target milestone to 1.0.0, but I get a not allowed
error, and this seems strange as I'm the reporter of the bug.

Hi Bruce,
Thanks for your prompt response.
Unfortunately, our PB application consists of hundreds different screens + it
utilizes CFC and PFC. It is considered very time consuming to upgrade it to
newer PowerBuilder because of CFC and all dependent code.
Another problem, that I found is MSVCRT.DLL For some reason builtin library
does not work properly and I was forced to use one from Windows installation.
Hope it will help.
Regards,
Boris

demi, Unfortunately we do not support winex. As for the error, it is non-
critical, as it is only attempting (AFAIK) to initialize your midi sequencer,
but it fails due to a misconfiguration. If you check the Wine FAQ, I believe
there is a fix for this listed there, but I could be wrong.

Avoid date masks entirely. That appears to be the issue. You might try using
a date format instead, so that the format is applied after the user enters
data, but they aren't forced to enter it into a mask.
However, 6.5 is also a rather old version of PB. In fact, 7.0 has already
been desupported. Have you tried with a more recent version (i.e., 8 or 9)?

Unfortunately, I've got same result as Luigi.
If you still work on this bug I can provide my whole environment and little

Look forward to fix this bug.

I have seen other people having problems with MaxPayne
but they are different. It would play the intro but not in the
game. You are not even getting that far. Make sure
DirectSound Object is in your registry and dsound.dll.so
is found. Make a trace by running the program like this:
wine --debugmsg +wave,+dsound,+dsound3d program.exe >& trace
where program.exe is your program and post the trace.

ok, good news - i've tested the game "Nox" with Wine-CVS-20030805, and it works
flawlessly (it's fully audible (& visable)) :)
then i've tried the suggested "winealsa.drv" fix, and not only it didn't help -
it made "Nox" sound-less too... but as for the DSound test, i'll try it later.
(it's now 03:31 AM here at Israel... gonna get some sleep.)
so, it's (?) a MaxPayne issue.
(p.s. : i hope it's not too much to ask that you check out what's wr0ng with my
Maxy ;) (and as he'd say it : no pain, no gain ! ;)))
(p.s. II : please close this "bug" if the asking above is too much to ask...)

Looks like an install or config issue. Your first attachment shows that the
DirectSound
class factory is not found. This could be a registry or dll problem. You have
alsa but are using the
oss driver. Try changing the [WinMM] section of your config file to "Drivers" =
"winealsa.drv".
Does the dsound test in dlls/dsound/tests work? You may want to do a full
tools/wineinstall.

MaxPayne's or Wine's.

Hello Wine-DEV people !
1st of all, Thanks for your much estimated work ! :)
(maybe this isn't the place to do, but you may help)
i'm using Sorcerer Linux ((Kernel 2.4.21, GLibC 2.3.2, BinUtils 2.14, GCC
3.2.3),(XFree86 4.3.0 (KDE 3.1.3, GNOME-Libs 2.2.3)))
on an Athlon 1.6GHz box w/768MB RAM, 200GB HDDs & SoundBlaster Audigy (w/
Alsa-0.9.6 (Driver,Libs & Utilities) installed).
i took a Full-Installation of MaxPayne-1.0.5 (w/ NoCD .exe) off a Windoes
machine, and put it at my Linux Box.,
i've then compile (configured with --enable-opengl) & installed Wine-20030709.
then i've ran MaxPayne, with : wine MaxPayne.exe
it worked very smoothly, but with No Sound at all.
what should i do to enable the sound ?
any piece of advice ? (i've got the Wine compilation log, the MaxPayne' Wine
output log, my config file, and anything else you might be needing to track this
issue (at least, i hope ! ;)))

doesn't.

I've had this problem when trying to run Wine programs from within the Linux
Mozilla.
I run mozilla withing artsdsp to enable some plugins to function correctly.
The exvironment changes made by artsdsp are propagated to Wine, and hence wine
crashes.
I suspect that the work-around may be as simple as ensuring that the LD_PRELOAD
environment variable does not contain any artsdsp dlls.
I will try this & report back.

Please rename your current setup ( mv .wine .wine-OLD ) and try again. The
binary will do a fresh install of config files (creating a new .wine
directory). If everything goes ok with your non-working apps , it's another
issue of DLLOverrides/whatever setting of your old config files.
You may then merge back some settings to the new config set of files and go
ahead.

1. I checked the font parameters, and Win32 says average char width is 5 yet
wine/rh9 report average char width 7. AS far as I can tell the DrawText
function calculates positions just fine except...
2. Zero length strings result in r.right = r.left under win32 but wine doesn't
touch the passed rect. That screwed up a few calculation calls I had.

I was able to setup, install, and run Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0.5 absolutely
fine on 20030709. I got KaZaa-Lite 2.0.2 working fine as well (even though I
couldn't get the later versions to run). I am not running SuSE though, so I
have to ask if you downloaded a binary build, or did you build it yourself? Can
you be more specific and provide context at those failure points? (e.g. what
module(s) is throwing the exception, overflowing the stack, etc).

When printing from a Windows program the printer dialog box shows the wrong

65535 which is wrong. It appears that the page counter is broken. Unless you
select the from/to option and change the to page the application will not print.
The resuls is that you cannot print taking the All default. This happens in
Eudora and Agent. Also, you cannot print from the Windows Notepad application.
It does not provide a from/to range and as a results does not print.
I am using wine20030618 with a CUPS connection to a Windows 2000 box. Linux

No, I query 'glXGetProcAddressARB' via 'dlsym' ONLY if
'GLX_ARB_get_proc_address' is actually advertised as supported in the extension
string (see line 673).
You could try by removing the 'strstr' check, and I'm pretty sure that it will
work fine.
But your DRI installation still would need fixing to have the exported
capabilities updated to advertise the support of the 'glXGetProcAddressARB'
extension.

Looking at Line 322 of wgl.c, even if it was a fault in extension
advertisement, it is still returning a NULL pointer when called, resulting in
the error. Somehow, even though the extenion is exported correctly, it's still
broken.... If the symbols are there, dlsym and friends should be able to call
it.

Well, the problem is that your GL library does export the glXGetProcAddressARB
function call (as seen in the configure output) BUT it does not advertise it...
On my box :
GLX extensions:
GLX_EXT_visual_info, GLX_EXT_visual_rating, GLX_SGIX_fbconfig,
GLX_SGIX_pbuffer, GLX_ARB_get_proc_address
Moreover, even if your box only supports GLX 1.2, it still should be able to
support this extension (copy pasted from the extension text) :
Dependencies
The extension is written against the GLX 1.3 Specification.
May be implemented in any version of GLX and OpenGL.

ok after digging around i think I know what the problem is.
glXGetProcAddressARB is only in glx 1.3, which isn't being used by DRI for some
reason. I think once I can get the appropriate GLX version, it will work. I
will take it up with Eric Anholdt on the FreeBSD-DRI side and maybe some of the
Linux DRI people. Still leaving it unconfirmed in case you have any suggestions.

don't run it in desktop mode. If you run it in desktop mode and it wants to
switch to a higher mode than the one you gave it (like you specified "Desktop"
= "640x480" in the program override but it wants to switch the mode to
1024x768) that error will occur. If you really do want to use desktop mode,
turn off desktop mode to figure out what the maximum res it puts X into when
you get into the game, then specify that as your desktop size.

This means that the glXGetProcAddressARB function seems not to be supported by
your OpenGL library.
Could you attach the output of 'glxinfo' to this bug ?
You could also do an 'nm' on the libGL.so to check if you have this function or not.
But well, XFree86 4.3.0 + DRI should certainly support this call, so I am a bit
surprised that it does not work on your box (and if native games work, they
certainly use it).

Hi
I am using a SuSE Linux 8.1 i386 PC running a wine build from 20030709.
My Problem:
Since the update only MS-Office versions and setup programs do work.
Applications like Acrobat Reader/Writer, Winamp3, Civilization3, can not be
started. They could be started and run properly with 20030618.
Civ3 doesn't say anything, just does not start
Winamp3 and Acrobat Writer are throwing an stack overflow in the 32-bit
modules
Acrobat Reader throws an unhandled exception.
I am using Windows ME to provide missing dll's but use search order: (1) wine
(2nd) Windows.
I find these "bugs" annoying. Hopefully this may help you to find them.
Regards
Sebastian

I can install the version named in the summary on Wine 2003-01-15 with no
problem, but not anymore on Wine 2003-07-09 (crashes very early). It also failed
(at a later time) with Wine 2003-03-??. Wine 2003-02-?? was not fully tested,
but went through the first phase of the installation like 2003-03-??.
Please contact me if interested, and I can send the binary file in question...
Best regards,
Herve.

The Debian package decided to split winspool.drv into libwine-print, causing an
endless number of complaints about missing winspool.drv.
Please install this package. Good luck!

Summary: Cannot Install Eudora 5.2.1 Using Wine 20030618-1
Product: Wine
Version: 20030618
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: blocker
Priority: P2
Component: wine-misc
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.com
ReportedBy: sabLinux(a)saberman.com
Eudora 5.1.1 install shows the status bar for "preparing the InstallShield(R)
Wizard", gets to 99% and hangs.
I am using fake_windows (no windows dlls). The last few lines on the console at
this point say there was a failure to load WINSPOO.DRV and then Unhandled exception.
Wine 20030618-1 was installed using apt-get install wine over a previous version
(20030508) which also could not install Eudora.
Please advise if you want a debug log.

wow, somebody else has noticed this bug.
This really bothers me, because I want to use Bible Companion (Gramcord) under
linux.
It used to work in Wine from about early 2000, but since then it has stopped
working.
Here is what happens for me with wine 20030408:
[schuller@toottoot bcs]$ wine Bcs.exe
Could not stat /mnt/fd0 (No such file or directory), ignoring drive A:
err:wave:OSS_WaveOutInit /dev/mixer1: not found!
err:local:LOCAL_GetBlock not enough space in local heap 02bf for 1608 bytes
fixme:dialog:MSGBOX_OnInit system modal msgbox ! Not modal yet.
I am on RH8 on a celeron 450, 128 meg ram, 128 meg swap. I don't have any
windows partition or any windows dll's.
The vendor I bought (with $$$!) this software from mentions the problem under
windows at the bottom of this page:
http://www.gramcord.org/download.htm
Unfortunately none of their fixes seem to apply to wine. I have regularly
downloaded their updates but have been unable to get it to work.
Having used the software under windows it does seem poorly written - so it is
probably a bug in this software. But I would love for us to find a way to make
wine run the software. It still runs under windows ok.

I dont know if the problem is in notepad, the edit control, the find dialog or
what but if I press crtl-f (or use the menu), the find dialog appears. I type
something in and press "find" but nothing happens. If I press "find again", all
that happens is that the find dialog appears again.

Basicly, when you use #import in visual C++, it generates wrapper (C++) code for
the type library.
This generated code plus the code in comdef.h, comutil.h and comsupp.lib (which
unlike most of the RTL, doesnt have source code provided) is what makes #import
work.

This is an old bug against a version of winesetuptk that's very old, but I want
to clean out my old bugs, and as far as I'm concerned, this old winesetuptk
version is still the "current" one; if someone can tell me where I can get a
newer version of winesetuptk than 0.6.0b, I'd love to know.
Anyway, report by Michael De Nil <flecxie(a)aerythmic.be>:
When finishing the 'fake windows'-procedure, I get:
Error: 1000
id: cannot find name for group ID 1000
Group ID 1000 belongs to my standard user and is in the /etc/groups
I tried with other users, but recieved the same error (with another
group ID)

winelauncher contains a message like this:
Note that one change you can make that will dramatically
effect Wine's behaviour is to change whether or not
Wine uses a true Windows partition, mounted under Linux,
or whether it uses an empty Windows directory.
There's a complaint that this message is very unclear, see URL.

I did this, and did the appropriate chmod to 644.
Then I got:
/usr/bin/wine: error while loading shared libraries: libntdll.dll.so: cannot
open shared object file: No such file or directory
After which I reinstalled wine, which resolved the issue completely.
(Although I'd suggest putting a note about the "font metrics"
one-time startup thingie in your installation notes... it took
long enough I wondered if it was intended or not.
Thanks for your help, Mike.

Summary: Grim Fandango regression: no sound in animated cutscenes
Product: Wine
Version: 20030618
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P2
Component: wine-multimedia
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.com
ReportedBy: torbjorn.e.andersson(a)tietoenator.com
LucasArts's "Grim Fandango" used to work pretty much flawlessly in the 20030508
snapshot and earlier, but in 20030618 and 20030709 I no longer get any sound in
the animated cutscenes. I also don't get any subtitles in them, which makes me
wonder if it's a sound regression at all, or if the problem is somewhere else.
Everywhere else in the game the sound is still working fine, just as before.
Unfortunately I've been unable to figure out exactly when it broke. I tried
regression testing, but most of the snapshots between 20030508 and 20030618 were
completely broken for me, as far as Grim Fandango was concerned.
I can provide traces, of course, but they tend to be rather big so I don't want
to attach any right now without being sure of exactly what to trace.
