Instead, wineconf should be improved to generate the new style config file, and then winesetup should rely on wineconf to generate the default configuration file. Similarly, there is functionality such as creating the default registry files that is now done by both winesetup and wineinstall. At this time, it seems like the right thing to do is to break up or parameterize wineinstall, so that it can be used for single function actions, and then have winesetup call those functions. The "HardwareAcceleration" = "Emulation" option in my ~/.wine/config changed nothing, probablly since the dsound isn't being loaded to begin with. We made lots of tests, but did not get these lines working (with the newer wine version): CDatabase DBase; char buf[128]; try { // This fails and a DB exception is thrown sprintf(buf,"ODBC;DSN=%.100s",DefaultConnect); DBase.Open(NULL,FALSE,FALSE,_T(buf),FALSE); } e->m_strError gives something like (from german) 'Failed to connect to host'. As strace shows, there is a connection, some data exchange and after that a connection shutdown. After removing wine-20030317 and re-installion of wine-20020812 everything works well (again). Starting nay app results in fixme:keyboard:X11DRV_KEYBOARD_DetectLayout Your keyboard layout was not found! Using closest match instead (German keyboard layout without dead keys) for scancode mapping. If it matters: I have XFree 4.3.0, qt 3.1.2, kde 3.1.1, kernel 2.4.20. Maybe it is a XFree 4.3.0 issue? Older Wine together with Xfree 4.2.x worked fine. But I can not downgrade to find out, which of it causes the issue. Heard from another person that it also happens with Unreal Tournament. This was tested with 20030115 and up. Changing NVidia drivers does not help. I don't want to downgrade XFree (still using 4.3). I'm available to recompile and perform debug info generation to help in any way possible to solve this. Self-compiled wine from sources. If I use wine 20030115 the microphone works on CounterStrike. With 20030219 and 20030318, mic doesn't work. On the 20030318 I get error messages about OSS_WaveInInit and OS_WaveOutInit on the console. Also that HEL will be used due to the impossibility to get access to sound device. But other emulated apps (strange enough, Half-Life microphone setup utility) works well. I'm back to using 20030115. But I'm available to perform compiles of other versions and generate necessary info. If it is too technical, I will need assistance (or a good step-by-step). When I installed wine-20030318 the starcraft sound is intermittently on and off and half-life's sound is totally gone. I'm not sure about the inner workings of Linux's driver architecture but the proprietary non-opensource nvaudio module driver I'm using might have something to do with it. I kind of doubt it, but thought I'd say I'm using that. It only occurs if you use an OCX control on a form. I believe that it is related to an OCX control firing internal events. When considering GPF faults with Visual FoxPro it is better to make sure that they do not occur on the native platform. FoxPro is single threaded (or stolen zero threaded during big SQL extracts!) so how it responds to underlying windows messages is very precarious. To date I have about 20 different variations of various unacknoledge Visual FoxPro GPFs. I have to work around then all during my Visual FoxPro development. I did report them via MS WWW site but noticed months later that they had no outstanding bugs with this horrid product so I stopped reporting them! I am now a Sun Java Certified programmer and hope never to have to deal with this FoxPro product again. I think it's a case of the appropriate controls within the area not being scrolled. Commenting out the line in the X11 driver which checks if a control is inside the scrolling rectangle or not results in all the controls being scrolled and the window appears to function correctly again - albeit with some (possibly unrelated) graphical update issues. I don't understand the internals enough to think about a fix - but it seems to me that the window is scrolled before the childrens positions are checked, so perhaps that might be one issue? If Wine source, which compiler version are you using? Using gcc optimizations? Which glibc? To me, it looks like it fails to categorize the values in server/file.c/file_set_error() properly (it seems to simply skip all break;s of case switches until it finally arrives at the last "unknown error and print error message" case) In closing, I suspect your Wine binary is totally broken.
