When launching the Flight Simulator X demo for the first time, the game shows a
splash screen and displays a first-run end-user license agreement dialog for
the user to accept. However, the dialog appears under the splash screen, which
entirely covers the window and prevents the user from accepting the license
agreement. The window manager in use is metacity 2.30.1, and launching Flight
Simulator X in a virtual desktop or moving the license agreement dialog through
the window manager suffices as a workaround.

The:
dir "???"
problem, at least, is easy to fix. All we have to do is skip trailing unmatched
"?"s like we already do for "*" and ".". A (preliminary) patch such as the
following works. However, while "a" and "aa" are correctly matched for "???",
"a.a" is wrongly matched too - apparently the "." in filenames needs special
handling.

Summary: Growing build/wine VM disk usage
Product: Wine-Testbot
Version: unspecified

Created attachment 65291
--> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=65291
Evolution of wtbdebian10's revert times
Every time we update and rebuild Wine in these VMs the VM's qcow2 file grows.
The Wine VMs are those where the disk grows fastest, from ~5 GB to 60+ GB in a
matter of weeks. Fortunately it does seem to grow slower after a while.
For instance <6 GB to 32 GB (du) from 2019-09-20 to 2019-09-25 for wtbdebian10.
This may be caused by the way WineRunReconfig handles live snapshots. To
summarize:
* Restore to the current live snapshot.
* Update and rebuild Wine.
* Iff that succeeded, delete the live snapshot and recreate it.
This may cause QEmu to not realize that all the data from the now deleted old
live snapshot can be reclaimed and reused for the next Wine build. But we had
to delete the live snapshot at the last minute because losing it would mean the
VM would be unusable until the TestBot administrator could come and fix it.
However nowadays the TestBot can recreate live snapshots from powered off
snapshots. This means we could delete the live snapshot first, rebuild and
recreate the snapshot at the end. In the unlikely event that something goes
wrong the live snapshot could be recreated from the powered off 'base'...
except in the case of a build error. That case would be unrecoverable unlike in
the current scheme.
A test with this alternative snapshot management should be made to see if it
does actually make a difference in the qcow2 growth (there's really no
guarantee it does).
For these VMs the revert time does seem to degrade a bit with time(*). This may
be related to the qcow2 size and/or accumulation of "phantom snapshots". So the
experiment should be run for a while to see if it makes a difference on this
metric too.
(*) See the Munin graph of wtbdebian10's revert time. The drop in week 38 and
39 correspond to maintenance on the VM where all snapshots were deleted and
virt-sparsify run on its disk.

Hi there,
I stumbled upon this issue when HeidiSQL's update checker began to fail to
contact the mother ship.
I then had a very long back and forth with a troll but that ended when the main
developer of HeidiSQl stepped in and I decided to replicate the update check
code under Lazarus.
I used fpcupdeluxe to install Lazarus and copied the offending code and had a
go.
I can report that I've tried to access:
1. https://www.heidisql.com/updatecheck.php?r=6119&bits=64
2. http://www.heidisql.com/updatecheck.php?r=6119&bits=64
3. ftp://www.heidisql.com/updatecheck.php?r=6119&bits=64 (Yes in desperation)
4. I now need to test if the "file:///" SCHEMA doesn't trip this wire
All of the above have always given me a GetLastError()==12006
As stated on summary:
- wininet.dll version is 8.00.7601.17601 as reported from Sysinternals's
sigcheck
- wine --version return "wine-5.0 (Ubuntu 5.0-3ubuntu1)"
- My system is Ubuntu 20.10 64b with wine64 and wine32 installed and updated as
of 2020/11/11
- Tested with InternetOpenURL()
- Tested with InternetOpenURLA() (I really don't know what I'm doing here)
If you really insist I can probably conjure up some C code to test this.
At the moment I only have Free Pascal code that I can provide.
Cheers,
Gus

Red Dead Redemption 2 gets ProcessHeap from the PEB, and directly accesses the
'flags' and 'force_flags' fields of the HEAP structure.
Those fields need to be at the same offset as they are on WinVista through
current Win10, 0x40/0x70.
Wine currently pads the struct so 'flags' is in the correct place (0xC) vs.
WinNT/2000/XP

Summary: SAP GUI - Ws2_32.getaddrinfo crashes with non-standard

--> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=67890
Terminal output (both success and crash)
Calling getaddrinfo with pNodeName = NULL and a non-standard pServiceName that
is not present in /etc/services causes an Unhandled page fault.
I noticed this issue using SAP GUI, a Windows client for a corporate ERP system
that uses unusual TCP ports for some of its connections to servers.
These port numbers are registered in %WINDIR%\system32\drivers\etc\services
during installation, and after going through some traces I noticed the error
stopped after adding the same entries to the host's (macOS) /etc/services file.
Since SAP GUI is licensed software, I created a little C program that simulates
the same problem.
It simply calls getaddrinfo with a service name "I_dont_exist".
If this entry is not present in /etc/services, the program crashes.
Tested on Wine 5.14 upstream binaries downloaded from PlayOnLinux/Phoenicis
Wine building service.
I also tested in other Wine version I use, namely 5.14-staging, 5.0 (WineHQ
Homebrew), 5.7-staging (WineHQ Homebrew) and CrossOver 19.0.1. All had the same
result.
Sample C program with .exe and source code:

Hi,
Dirt Rally 2.0 requires an online connection to play the single player
campaign, but with Wine 4.2 it can't successfully establish that connection due
to a certificate issue.
It tries to connect to https://prod.egonet.codemasters.com/, but since it does
not trust the certificate the connection fails.
The required CA certificate is embedded in dirtrally2.exe, but Wine does not
seem to pick it up and use it.
It all works perfectly if I manually trust the CA system-wide, by placing
codemasters.pem in /etc/ca-certificates/trust-source/anchors and run
update-ca-trust.

Hello folks,
while investigating bug 45514 (dupe of bug 42497) my Total Commander 9.x

Jacek was kind enough to cross compile (using llvm-mingw) an armv7 winetest
binary for me.
I tried running that on my rooted Surface RT tablet (windows 32-bit armv7), and
it immediately fails with an error dialog:
The procedure entry point NtCurrentTeb could not be located in the dynamic link
library C:\Users\User\Desktop\winetest.exe
<jacekc> it looks like NtCurrentTeb is not exported by windows ntdll. looking
at windows headers, there is an inline version
<jacekc> it should use _MoveFromCoprocessor. I don't know enough about arm to
know how hard it is to support
Using an inline definition instead allows the tests to run. I'm attaching
Jacek's patch that does that for reference.

For this reason, the application "CED1401" in Winehq's AppDB has currently

WINEDEBUG=+vbscript
To reproduce:
1. Run `winetricks mfc42`
2. Run the Brother Printing Device setup program
3. When asked for the connection type, select "Wired Network Connection
(Ethernet)" and be sure to check "Custom Install"
4. When asked how to locate the printer, type in the IP address 127.0.0.1 (this
is just for debugging, any IP address is fine)
After that, a message pops up that says "An error occurred during the
installation" and the software to scan a document over the network is not
installed.
Console output with WINEDEBUG=+vbscript is attached which indicates failure
parsing a VBScript file. I dumped the full text of the file and this is the
problematic part:
select case lcase(PortType)
case "raw"
oPort.Protocol = 1
case "lpr"
oPort.Protocol = 2
case else
'
' PutInstance will attempt to get the configuration of
' the device based on its IP address. Those settings
' will be used to add a new port
'
end select
oPort.HostAddress = oParamDict.Item(kHostAddress)
It seems that Wine's VBScript parser can't handle a "case else" clause that
contains nothing but a comment.

If I switch the prefix version to Windows 10 and launch Battle.Net Launcher
Beta in it, it will crash if I just interact a bit with the launcher (like move
its window, hover over UI elements, etc), and also if I open the settings menu.
The crash that is caused by interaction can be work-arounded by enabling
Virtual Desktop, but it doesn't work for the crash that occurs when you open
the settings menu. Neither issues occur if I set the version to 7.
Battle.Net has its own crash handler so I couldn't produce backtraces.
Attaching +seh,+relay logs (the prefix these were made in is clean, no native
components were installed in it).

Common controls list view control LVM_FINDITEM handling issue.
In Windows search is case insensitive and in Wine is case sensitive.
This creates issues.

The crash report generated by Altium
I'm trying to get Altium Designer 20 running in wine. I'm using wine-staging
5.10 with the msxml6 and dotnet461 winetricks. These are necessary to get the
application to start (and wine-staging because it includes a fix for
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46568).
However, the problem is that when I try to actually open a file, it crashes
with the following being printed to STDERR:
wine: Call from 0x7b0317a8 to unimplemented function d2d1.dll.D2D1CreateDevice,
aborting
Altium's own crash report seems to confirm that this is the problem (attached).
I don't really know anything about DirectX, or Windows programming at all, but
I don't think it should be too hard to implement this stub. Wine's
dlls/d2d1/device.c does have a function called d2d_device_init, and my guess
would be that D2D1CreateDevice would mostly just be a wrapper around that. But
my naive attempt to implement that didn't work so it's quite likely I'm missing
something important.
Any help would be appreciated.

--- Comment #11 from Anastasius Focht <focht(a)gmx.net> ---
Hello folks,
albeit unrelated to the actual problem, there is a caveat to the MS Access ODBC
driver installation from Access/Office runtime via 'winetricks art2kmin'.
I reported it here: https://github.com/Winetricks/winetricks/issues/1641
The installer/app requires the older 32-bit 'Jet' ODBC driver (*.mdb) from
Access 200. The 'ACE' ODBC driver (.mdb,.accdb) from Access 2007 won't work
unless you modify files and re-run parts of the post-install manually (ODBC
data source setup).
Another tidbit: With newer Wine versions you require native 'odbccp32' override
as well to have DSN creation work.
Regards

vulkan_tests_results
Hi.
When running the Wine's Vulkan test, I've encountered some failures when
running on a machine with dual graphics. They appear to be caused by Wine not
filling device LUIDs for the discrete GPU, only the primary integrated (Intel)
one. This happens even if you set preference for the discrete GPU and filter
out other GPUs with some envars (__NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD=1
__GLX_VENDOR_LIBRARY_NAME=nvidia __VK_LAYER_NV_optimus=NVIDIA_only).
This causes an issue in World War Z, as it requires device LUID to be filled,
and falls back to its inferior DX11 renderer if the LUID is zero-ed out.
I've attached a text file with output from the vulkan test running with
different combinations of these filtering envars and with none of them.
I should note that this is not related to bug 49631, these tests were done on a
different machine and during the tests for this bug report virtual desktop was
disabled.

complained that MySQLWorkbench didn't work on Wine, so I gave it a whirl.
On an empty .wine directory, it complained that it needed .net 2.
With 'winetricks dotnet20', it complained
"The operating system is not adequate for running MySQL Workbench 5.0 OSS"
(it requires WinNT version 502, and we're at 500).
With 'winetricks dotnet20 vista', it installed. Running failed early with

Drakensang Online:
Good day.
In the online game Drakensang Online has long observed the following
bug: when you start the game is not visible the cursor of the mouse,
i.e. the cursor appears, but does not move. And in the background you
can see that it is still moving, but it is not displayed correctly. As a
result, there is no way to play the game normally.
This is also evident in the stable wine.
Thank you.

During operation several error dialogs appear, most are related to this error.
They appear to be triggered by display changes (videos starting, window size,
full-screen transitions). Occurs with the CD and trial versions.
Tested on two different systems with different GPUs, Intel GM965/GL960
(xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.99.910-0ubuntu1.3) and Radeon HD 7340 (fglrx
2:13.350.1-0ubuntu2), on Xubuntu 14.04 x86_64. The Intel GPU is too slow to
play but the same errors occur.
The game attempts to play full-screen but fails (more error dialogs) and falls
back to windowed.

Log of `wine control joy.cpl` when crashing due to button 33 being pressed
When the `dinput-remap-joystick` staging patch is applied to Wine, various
crashes occur with a joystick that has more than 32 buttons.
* Wine's `joy.cpl` crashes when pressing or releasing such a button
(Wine-Staging)
* Star Citizen crashes during launch (Wine-Staging + DXVK)
`joy.cpl` works fine in vanilla Wine. Star Citizen requires other staging
patches to launch, and works fine if `dinput-remap-joystick` is excluded.
I'm using the Saitek X-55 Rhino HOTAS, where the throttle and stick can be
plugged in independently. The throttle has 34 buttons and causes these crashes,
the stick only reports 17 buttons (14 physically) and does not cause any
crashes. Buttons 32-34 on the throttle are the three-state "MODE" switch (M1-M3
respectively).
The crashes in `joy.cpl` happen regardless of whether the `(event)` or `(js)`
interface of the throttle is selected.

I have been running Altium Designer 13 on Wine successfully for some time,
using these packages installed with winetricks: gdiplus, corefonts, riched20,
mdac28, msxml16. That list was compiled from suggestions on the AppDB and may
include unnecessary packages, but it's been working fine for me through Wine
4.7. The wineprefix is otherwise unmodified, and contains only the Altium
installation. I use PlayOnLinux to manage the wineprefix and launch the
application. The WINEARCH is win32.
I recently upgraded to Wine 4.10 (vanilla, not staging), and found that Altium
is no longer able to render DirectX 3D on my second monitor. Rendering on my
primary monitor still works fine, and Wine does not crash or otherwise throw an
error when I move the Altium window to my second monitor. The only error is
reported by Altium, and reads: "Graphics adapter for this display does not meet
DirectX requirements (DirectX 9.0c, Shader Model 3.0). Unable to switch to 3D."
Doing some digging, I found that the last version of Wine that renders
correctly on the second monitor is Wine 4.7. Versions 4.8, 4.9, and 4.10 all
cause Altium to display the error.
My system uses an NVIDIA Quadro M4000 and the proprietary driver, version
430.14. The OS is Gentoo Linux, kernel 5.1.5, mesa 18.3.6. I have also tried
a recent Radeon card with mesa drivers and found the same problem, though I
haven't tested that configuration as extensively.
Nothing notable appears the debugger window when I launch the application
through PlayOnLinux.
I have tried to install several other programs with simple 3D displays in an
attempt to duplicate the error with other software, but I haven't been
successful.
Please let me know how I can help resolve this issue.

When specifying both TME_LEAVE and TME_HOVER in a TRACKMOUSEEVENT, the provided
"dwHoverTime" timeout should only be applied to TME_HOVER, i.e. the hover event
should be emitted after "dwHoverTime" milliseconds. However, the WM_MOUSELEAVE
generated for TME_LEAVE should be sent instantly as soon as the mouse leaves
the window. As far as I can see, Wine delays the WM_MOUSELEAVE event by the
specified amount of milliseconds, although it shouldn't do that.

BoxedApp is an SDK used by some debugging tools (dxprof in particular)
to hook function calls and emulate filesystem operations.
(It's a bit like Thinstall, which does work with Wine, thanks to Ge's efforts.)
I tried their four sample apps.
Sample1_DLLEmbeddsamples crashing.exe crashes after you click the 'call
function' button;
evidently the LoadLibrary hooking didn't work.
Samples 2 and 3 crash faster. Sample 4 seems to run (but might not do exactly
what it should).
I'll attach a +relay,+seh log of sample 1 running.
It seems to use mpr.dll as part of its magic.

Path of Exile introduced a new Vulkan renderer in the game.
When switching to Vulkan in-game, the game pauses for a few seconds then
crashes.
If I switch to proton/steam play, the switch to the vulkan renderer in-game, it
works fine and switches as expected.
This leads me to believe this is either a winevulkan or winex11.drv problem,
since those are the two main graphical differences between Standard wine and
Proton. The fact that it runs on proton with RADV also shows that RADV is
likely not the issue.
Current system is Fedora 32 with KDE, mesa-git as of 5/29/20, Vega VII, Ryzen

Switching to 19.10 fixes the issue, except that 19.10 is of course no longer
updated and 20.04 would break the compatibility I'm aiming for.
I'm presuming it's some sort of autotools error, but I don't understand
autotools much myself, nor how fixable this is.

Summary: Implement debugging feedback extensions

Was discussing the following earlier with Georg Lehmann and Hans-Kristian
Arntzen:
Looking for a way to forward application Vulkan API debugging info (tagged
objects / perfmarkers / queue-labels) such that the host loader will receive
these calls from the windows application.
I believe that VK_EXT_debug_marker should pass-through fine with ToT
winevulkan, but that should be confirmed.
A few thoughts on test cases to verify this missing functionality / verify an
implementation:
- Sascha Willems' debugmarker example -
https://github.com/SaschaWillems/Vulkan/tree/master/examples/debugmarker (uses
VK_EXT_debug_marker)
- Quake 2 RTX - https://github.com/NVIDIA/Q2RTX (uses
VK_EXT_debug_utils/VK_EXT_debug_report)
- Should add to dlls/vulkan-1/tests for a simple usage of tagging an object
(similar to the private data test). Maybe a small companion layer that just
plainly prints out debug information would also be of use.
Connecting to these applications via a graphics debugging tool should yield
Vulkan debug information from the application.
Some potential challenges that may be hit:
- Implementation of debug utils messenger callback in concern with
calling-convention and alignment
- make_vulkan currently notes interaction issues with VK_EXT_debug_marker and
VK_EXT_debug_utils and implementations within LunarG's vulkan-1.dll, we may
wish to conditionally expose this functionality either via a regkey, or if we
detect WINE's vulkan-1.dll implementation is in use.

WINEDEBUG log (ole,strmbase,gstreamer,quartz,mfplat)
Something odd is happening here.
A WolfRPG game that works fine for the most part, but in one place it freezes.
This happens upon a map transition, which implies a BGM change.
The freeze is a never ending MediaEvent_WaitForCompletion.
Odd part is that upon disabling winegstreamer via WINEDLLOVERRIDES, the sounds
continues to work (probably going through dsound filter), but the freeze is
averted.
The last log entry before sequence that triggers the freeze in the log is 'is
being unloaded while mapped' line.
