Greetings,
The Witcher 3 (steam version) used to work fine yesterday, however once
installing the wine-2.9-staging version, it now fails to detect DirectX11
support upon startup. (attached picture)
Reverted back to non-staging wine2.9 and the issue now happens with that as
well.
Created a fresh prefix, applied the registry fix to render dx11 calls in opengl
and limit the rendering to opengl4.5. Tested with both staging and non-staging
wine2.8, the issue persists.
Attached the logs from the moment when starting the game.

When running System.Console.Clear() under .NET 3.5 in WINE (installed in a
clean .wine through Winetricks), it will crash with:
Unhandled Exception: System.IO.IOException: Invalid handle.
at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String maybeFullPath)
at System.Console.GetBufferInfo(Boolean throwOnNoConsole, Boolean&
succeeded)
at System.Console.Clear()
This can be reproduced by running System.Console.Clear() under any application
in .NET 3.5.
Attached is a demo application to reproduce this, the source code to produce
this issue and the log generated.
WINE version: 1.7.30 under Debian (sid) x86.

Achive with a +dinput log of 125hz and 1000hz pollrate mouse movement
The game tested was Borderlands 1 Enhanced Edition via Proton (not a Proton
issue though), because it is one of the most severe examples of this issue. The
game completely freezes when moving the mouse with the pollrate set to 1000Hz.
It only unfreezes when the mouse isn't moving anymore. This issue occurs in
multiple games resulting in huge framedrops when moving the mouse. A temporary
workaround is to set the mouse pollrate to 125Hz, but it's not a real solution
to the problem.
As already mentioned in the title the event queue of dinput is constantly
overflowing which blocks anything else running on the wineserver. I attached 2
logs with +dinput. Both were recorded for the same amount of time, one
containing the overflow with 1000Hz and one recorded at 125Hz.
My guess is that this problem occurs due to the single threaded nature of
wineserver and the huge amount of input data that arrives from the mouse. The
most elegant solution would probably be to move the input processing and
handling as much as possible outside of wineserver (glancing at esync), but I
am no expert in that regard.

the (old) Neverwinter Online Launcher crashes at startup with wine 5.10. It
works well with 5.0.1. My own builds of 5.10 work as well (preventing me from
proper regression testing), but I was not able to build a proper SysWoW build
of wine with all dependencies.

1. Launch wineconsole
2. Launch ITHVNR.exe
3a. Click "Process"
3b. Select wineconsole from the process list
3c. Click "Attach"
3d. Click "OK"
Expected result: text displayed by wineconsole is shown in ITHVNR when it's
modified (ExtTextOutW hook, second dropdown)
Actual result: wineconsole segfaults shortly after attaching (no terminal
output other than Segmentation fault)
These results can be reproduced with many 3rd-party programs too, I used
wineconsole here for easier testing since it's shipped with Wine.

I can't reproduce the issue on 6226be3~1, wine-5.8 with 6226be3 reverted and
wine-5.4 (last release before 6226be3). I can reproduce the bug on 6226be3,
wine-5.5, wine-5.8 and 4358ddc75fbfabdc4a4f31b4e3cc9aa1e0811d4c (current master
as of now).

This is a regression introduced by 526522caae103a27cd36740d6eca59387a189d02.
Reverting the commit or disabling the new handle = load_ntdll( argv[0] ) code
in loader/main.c makes the bug go away.
On Catalina, I have additionally seen random failures to load PE DLLs
introduced by the same commit. I have not investigated this yet as a 64 bit CEF
build is tricky either way.
This may be a duplicate of bug 49370. The exact way Wine crashes isn't clear in
49370, but the regression is caused by the same commit and it is also mac OS
specific.
The particular CEF build my log is from is the Sample Application from
http://opensource.spotify.com/cefbuilds/index.html#windows32_builds , version
"07/24/2020 - CEF 84.3.7+g97011bc+chromium-84.0.4147.89 / Chromium
84.0.4147.89". I first noticed it with the CEF version that is embedded inside
Wargaming.net Game Center, which has some workarounds for the 64 bit problems
on Mac.

Diagnosed by Andrew Wesie; partially split off from bug 45327.
The game expects to be able to hook both the first instruction of the syscall
and the last (return) instruction. The current staged implementation of the
syscall dispatcher does not return to the syscall thunk but rather directly to
its caller, which causes the game to fail.

When using the following register key for setting the OpenGL version to 4.5:

That was about vanilla Wine. I can't see my stupid ideas as fix,it is looks
like workaround. About how to workaround Wine's limitations.
About Staging. Looks like Staging patches are "dirty" patches,and they need
some refactoring,to merge with upstream in proper way. But if I'm wrong,we have
question:"Why Wine devs can't merge it?"

in Wine-Staging and the game works fine if you use that version of Wine, though

The Sims 2 needs 1024 constants,but we have only 256.
Maths tells that 256*4=1024.
And so,in theory,we can make 4 array data structures with 256 constants. And it

structures in proper way,if program will ask some constants,which is in 2 or
more arrays,it have to switch between arrays,Wine will extract data and game
will be happy.
That's stupid idea #1.
Stupid idea #2. We still can make 4 array data structures (256*4),but we need
to make Wine's interpretation of this,as ONE big array with 1024 constants.

I do not believe this is a problem with either the Aali's driver or Asmodean's
shader because they appear to be working for windows users. This must be a
problem in wine, probably in OpenGL.
I am building wine from git on 64-bit Archlinux and my GPU is a GeForce GT 630
with nvidia drivers 343.13.
ARB_framebuffer_object is listed explicitly as a supported extension by
nvidia-config.

d2d1 dwrite trace
When trying to load windows vst's that depend on d2d1 there are crashes.
3 different video cards/drivers were tried (intel, radeon, nvidia) all with the
same result.
The traces seem to indicate that it's occuring with d2d1 and dwrite and maybe
factory creation and the wine debugger seems to indicate that opengl loading is
involved with it as well.
If d2d1 is disabled using winecfg, then the window's vst's do load but suffer
from display corruption.

Contacam surveillance software crashing (msvfw32)
I'm running Contacam (video surveillance software -from contaware.com) with
WINE 1.4.1, and the application is crashing at random intervals. Sometimes 6
minutes, sometimes 6 hours, and everything in between.
The error log seems to be pointing to msvfw32 as the culprit, but I'm not
absolutely sure.
I think this only happens when I run the application to record upon detection.
When I have all camera detections set to off (monitor only) the system does not
crash. It seems that when (maybe) contacam detects motion and then starts
recording to disc, the crash occurs.
This doesn't happen on every detection though. ContaCam will detect some
movements, and record them to disk just fine, but after a (seemingly) random
amount of time later, the application crashes, showing the attached log.
I am not completely sure what is going on here and why.
My clues are that msvfw32 (seems) to be a 16bit video compression DLL. My
question to this finding would be: "What would make the video compression
fail?"
I wonder if I do not have my WINE environment setup properly.
I have made sure to install the 32bit configuration of WINE (I am running
Ubuntu 13.10 x64)
I am also not sure if it is a result of what folder I am having Contacam
storing its images to. I am telling Contacam to store images to /var/www
directory, but have allowed all permissions to this /var/www directory.
Contacam is able to store videos to this location fine (most of the time at
least). I wonder if permissions are being overridden to denied sometimes
maybe. Maybe this has nothing to do with it though.
I'm hoping to get this app to not crash soon, because I need my surveillance
system to be reliable.

copy - paste). When I see some info in Summary,I can select all columns("select
all" action from context menu,right click with mouse),and then "copy"
action,also from context menu. And after that,I paste that info into blank text

as renderdoc doesn't have support for d3d9 and you can only view apitrace calls

There are tools like apitrace, renderdoc, PIX, and many others that can record
+d3d-like logs on Windows and often provide additional tools for debugging.
It's not black magic, but we're careful when using them on Windows as we might
see Microsoft implementation details, e.g. the d3d9.dll calls that d3dx9.dll
makes.

a guy on IRC #winehq asked for help to get "Sim Theme Park" to work.
The game is copy-protected and the installer seems somehow fail to installer
the SafeDisc 1.x driver properly in system32/drivers folder.
Manually copying the driver after installation lets the game recognize the
original disc (for that SafeDisc 1.x has to be run in Win2K mode, see bug
12653) -> workaround.
The installer is Installshield based (year 2000).

It looks like the path passed to drvmgt.dll "Setup" API function (first
argument) needs to have a backslash appended.
Somewhere in installshield script this path is constructed, most likely at the
point of "SdSelectFolder" (Installshield folder selection).
To properly analyze this, the installshield script needs to be
decrypted/decompiled... low priority.

Something to mention. Wine is running inside a docker container, on debian 10
If there are no mods loaded on the server. Players can join and play.
If there is a mod active. The server will start with the same errors. But when
the player joins. The server will skyrocket to 500% CPU Usage from 50%, Spam
this error 5 times: 0010:fixme:ntdll:EtwEventUnregister (deadbeef) stub
and then it will crash.
The game server was downloaded via SteamCMD and wine is running the dedicated

Attempting to destroy an ImageList which has already been destroyed
When closing CertUI, (or sub dialogs) attempts are made to Destroy ImageList
that have already been destroyed. This is due to explicit call
ImageList_Destroy while these ImageList are also linked to a listview object
which also tries to delete these ImageList in LISTVIEW_NCDestroy.

GuildII.exe Console Log
I run a 32bit Wine Version 1.7.21 on a CentOS7 64bit system.
Initially I installed and played the game "The Guild 2 - Pirates of the
European Seas" on this system.
Now after I installed several winetricks libraries with winetricks for another
game I can't run the already installed and former working game "The Guild 2 -
Pirates of the European Seas" anymore.
The Screen turns black and stays that way until I terminate the process from
another session.
I captured the console log with "wine GuildII.exe"
I installed these libraries with winetricks:

As reported in the AppDB, if the HDR rendering option is enabled in Final
Fantasy XIV, some scenes have large black squares covering the screen. This
appears to stem from NaNs getting stored in floating-point framebuffers as the
result of division by zero in a fragment shader.
Granted there's a whole bunch of wild guessing involved, but changing the
translation of the HLSL rcp instruction to explicitly check for zero and return
a huge value instead of performing the division seems to fix the problem
without causing any side effects (see attached patch).
I do note that HLSL defines the rcp instruction to return infinity for a zero
operand (*1), while the GLSL spec says that division by zero "result[s] in an
unspecified value" (*2).

Hi,
When quitting Surviving The Aftermath (doesn't matter if a game was started or
just quit the game directly while in the main menu), lead to nothing but a lock
up of the game, without error windows or message in the stout.
That's not a big problem since it's always possible to end up the process, but
it's not appear on Windows so i assume it's a problem with wine.
I know it's an unity game, which version i don't know. The problem is present
with all version of the game. The game is launched from Epic Launcher.
OS : Debian sid
Kernel : 5.6.0.2
GPU : 5700 XT
Drivers : amdgpu (mesa 20.0.6) with navi10 firmware
Wine-version : wine-staging 5.8 (and wine-development
Dll override : no one
Tested with dotnet : no
Let me know the debug info you need if necessary. I don't know if they are old
version of wine where the bug is not present, i will test if i have time.

Screenshot showing rendering draw issue.
When running Caligari TrueSpace, regardless of using OpenGL or software only
rendering, the Z order of the file menu is incorrect. I have attached a
screenshot showing the issue. The image on the left is how the program should
look, the image on the right shows the flaw. The file/help menu is being
overdrawn by a blue bar whenever a tool Window, or the editing viewspace is
clicked on. the draw order temporarily resets to the correct behavior when
alt-tab is pressed.

At startup, when the launcher of Grand Theft Auto V opens, it shows a "Loading"
animation and wait for something that never seems to happen.
There is a cancel button.
If I click anywhere in the window before clicking the cancel button, or if I
alt-tab out and in while the launcher is open, subprocess.exe crashes with an
unhandled exception error.
After subprocess.exe has crashed, I can click on the cancel button of the
launcher and it closes, and wineserver terminates gracefully.
If I click first on the cancel button before doing anything else, the launcher
closes and there is no unhandled exception error, but wineserver doesn't quit
until alt+F4 is pressed and the blocking process is forced to close.
subprocess.exe is the executable of the Social Club service to which the user
has to log in to play the game.
Computer specs:
Intel Core i7-4930k CPU @ 3.40Ghz x 12 (6+HT).
8Gb RAM.
NVidia GTX970 with proprietary drivers (346.35).
Debian Wheezy 64-bit
Wine 1.7.41 WoW64

WinSCP with mixed up icons and blank column data
Steps to reproduce:
1. Get WinSCP 5.17 from winscp.net
2. Connect to a linux box.
3. Navigate to root folder with your mouse using the "/" icon, then click on
/etc, scroll to /etc/init (or any other folder which requires scrolling) and
click on it.
4. Use the "upper directory" button to go back to /etc
Result:
Folders suddenly show up with file icons (see the attached screenshot) and
column data is blank.

winecfg now allows `winecfg /v winxp` to get the windows version. It would be
useful to be able to do similar to get the reported version.

Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 require applications to have an embedded manifest
specifically targeting their versions before they will respond truthfully to
GetVersion, GetVersionEx, and (10 only) VerifyVersionInfo calls.
Wine answers truthfully for unmanifested applications, which is unfortunately
the wrong behavior.

Console output dumped in a text file
Hi, it's my 1st submission of a bug here, so I don't know exactly if I'm doing
the right procedure. I'm trying to run a game which works fine in Windows with
dx8.
The way I used to get a debug output was too simple:
$ winedbg NFR.exe 2>&1 | tee debug.txt
The result follows attached, and I'm waiting for instructions. I'm able to do
any kind of test once I get directions from someone more experient, since I'm
not a skilled programmer.

I am using the GOG version of the game.
Deadlight: Director's Cut has the following characteristics:
It is an Unreal Engine 4 game.
It uses Direct X 9
It is 64-bits only
It is an enhanced version of the game featured in this

The terminal output is from a clean 64-bit prefix. I set the prefix to Windows
XP and 7 and the game continues to simply load to a black screen that I must
manually kill via Ctrl+C in terminal.
I have tried using the d3dx9 and vcrun2010 winetricks but those did not change
anything at all.

Log when running webcam application with qcap debugging enabled
I have a Logitech C920 HD Pro Webcam that works flawlessly on v4l2 in any Linux
application. However, under Wine as long as I can remember this never worked in
the 4.x series or 3.21 (didn't test older) - only showing a grey picture (even
though the applications detect it).
Right now I am testing with Star Citizen's FOIP and "Portable Webcam"
application, both which seem to use qcap/DirectShow for this.
I saw qcap being updated to v4l2 in 4.6 (even tried 4.7), but I still get a
grey picture only.

I have attached a log with qcap debugging made with today's wine GIT version
(let me know if I can/should further increase wine debugging channels)
What's also to note (but probably not related to the error) is that Wine seems
to prefer the video1 device (a metadata/advanced settings device related to the
other one) and not video0, so I have to rm that device node.

In case it's relevant:
- I've replaced gamedir/videos/ubi.bik with dummy bik file to skip intros
- I'm using Czech distribution of the game
- It it possible that this is an issue within the game itself
- I've removed all .DLL files from gamedir (but the issue is reproducable with
them as well)
- I'm using franken linux (custom patches in kernel + custom userland and
toolchain).
- The issue is not present on english distribution with gamedir/GAMEDATA
directory (includes czech dubbing) imported from czech distribution.
- The game can be downloaded for free as demo version on
https://stahnu.cz/arkadove-hry/rayman-3-hoodlum-havoc which is DEMO version i
am not sure if it can be used to reproduce the issue
- Game works on platinum using english distribution to this point (didn't
progress further yet)
- The game also complains about `level checksum doesn't match with fix checksum
!!!`
- I am using version downloaded from the web, but i own the hard copy of the
game on CDs since 2005

Upgrading from Wine 5.7 to 5.9 (or 5.8*), I've noticed that horizontal
scrolling [1] using a mouse wheel stopped working (pressing the regular mouse
wheel left or right). I've been working fine since I remember. The issue occurs
also with the latest version available for Fedora 32 - 5.15.
* - I haven't checked with 5.8 as there are no RPMs for Fedora available.
There are some games (e.g. the new XCOM [2] series) where horizontal scrolling
is heavily used. It would be good to have it back working.
I don't know any freely available program what can be used to test that
problem. However, probably everything that is able to show what mouse button
was used should be able to verify that.

tab control ignores click after changing selected tab by arrow key.
steps to reproduce:
1. open app which uses tab control (e.g. winecfg).
2. click tab to change tab.
3. press right arrow key to change tab.
4. click another tab to change tab.
expected: clicked tab is selected.
actual: nothing happens.
if i select tab clicked in step 2 using arrow key, cliking tab works again.
i investigated and found that it related TCIS_BUTTONPRESSED state in tab
control.
in step 2, TCIS_BUTTONPRESSED state is set to the clicked tab in funciton
TAB_SetCurSel called from function TAB_LButtonDown.
in step 3, selected tab is changed but TCIS_BUTTONPRESSED state is not updated
in function TAB_SetCurFocus called from function TAB_KeyDown.
in step 4, function TAB_LButtonDown checks for the tab with TCIS_BUTTONPRESSED
and prevents it from changing tab.

log from an error opening unlocker.exe (Live for speed unlocker)
I'm new at everything about Wine, also new Linux user.
The game runs perfectly (LFS.exe), but when I run the (unlocker.exe) the game
menu opens as well but can't play it nor unlock any tracks.
On windows 7 (also 32bit) both run without any trouble.
The only reason I've come here, it's because I want to get rid of Windows for
once, and start doing everything on Ubuntu. So if anyone can help me to fix
this issue, I'll be thankful.

Wine crash report
I'm trying to run Tapps 2 on wine version 1.7.44. My OS is Xubuntu 15.04,
64-bit. It is a graphic programming tool for a series of controllers for
heating, solar heat, warm water and similar that are made by the Austrian
company "Technische Alternative".
The programme can be downloaded from their website at
http://www.ta.co.at/de/download/software/tapps-2.html . I'm using the German
language version.
The programme seems to run fine, apart from the one point: Whenever I try to
copy/paste an Object, wine crashes as soon as I select "paste" from the menu or
type Ctrl-V on the keybord.
The problem persists in wine 1.7.47; cf. discussion on

Crash report of macro execution on Microsoft Excel 2007
The execution of a Excel Visual Basic Macro execution does not work when it is
compiled from Wine 1.6.2.
The compilation starts properly, and the window freezes after few seconds.
The macro tested works properly on windows 7.
There is no problem to modify, record the macro, and execute it from a MS
Windows 7 environment.

In the original sapi51.h it is claimed that it is generated by MIDL.
Unfortunately, sapi51.idl is missing from Windows SDK, so we cannot generate
it. This prevents building sapi5 modules with free open-source toolchains,
essentially forcing developers to use Visual Studio.

crashes if you select opengl. Sure enough, after doing 'winetricks vcrun6'
to work around bug 23652, the app runs unless you choose opengl.
(I think you can choose opengl after the fact by editing gmax.ini to say
GFXType=OpenGL
but I'm not sure what else you might need to edit.)

StrCmpLogicalW() returns different results on Wine versus Windows 10 (1909
x86_64) when used to compare numeric and symbol characters. '.' and '%' are
known culprits.
This is a strcmp()-like function, used for "natural" sorting of file listings.

I have three 1920x1080 monitors in a Xinerama setup with proprietary Nvidia
drivers.
wine 5.16 sometimes creates a virtual desktop that is larger than any of my
monitors (actually equal to the total size of my X screen), even when the
virtual desktop resolution is set to 1280x720.
Steps to reproduce:
- Create a clean 32-bit wine prefix
- Run winecfg, enable virtual desktop mode, set resolution to 1280x720
- Run wineserver -w
- Run winecfg again, it opens in a 4390x2160 virtual desktop window that
covers multiple monitors
- Run wineserver -w
- Run winecfg again, the virtual desktop is still 4390x2160
On a 64-bit prefix, these steps are less repeatable. Depending on timing the
second or third winecfg runs may run in a correctly sized window, and then stay
that way for all further runs. Some things change in
System\\CurrentControlSet\\Enum\\DISPLAY\\DEFAULT_MONITOR between the bad and
good winecfg runs, but I cannot reproduce the bad behavior by restoring the
entire wine prefix, so the change seems to be related to timing that is not
controlled for by wineserver -w.
A bisect points to commit aadae4d1ea173dfa30e09d6cc816bb174e35f90d as the first
bad commit, though I think this commit may have only uncovered an existing bug
rather than creating one.
Bad wine versions create a 4390x2160 window with "_NET_WM_STATE(ATOM) =
_NET_WM_STATE_MAXIMIZED_HORZ, _NET_WM_STATE_MAXIMIZED_VERT". Good wine versions
create a 1280x720 window with an empty/zeroed "_NET_WM_STATE(ATOM)".
Note: I see this message a lot on both wine 5.15 and wine 5.16:

to RandR 1.0. Please consider using the Nouveau driver instead.
Unfortunately, nouveau does not support my GTX 970, so I have no choice.
