As per my understanding, the system spec of mine and current wine capability
should allow me to run game in Very High graphic setting, yet the choice is
greyed out (with Default OS set to Vista and newer and running 32bit
executable). As of now, this is what I see when I try to run game w/o DX10,
with DX10, and then also with DX11 installed via winetricks. Winetricks output
before adding DX10/11 libraries:
$ Lejupielādes/winetricks list-installed

You are using a 64-bit WINEPREFIX. Note that many verbs only install 32-bit
versions of packages. If you encounter problems, please retest in a clean
32-bit WINEPREFIX before reporting a bug.

The game requires Directx10 (or newer), it doesn't support DX9.
The first problem when you start the game with built-in d3dx10 libraries seems
to be the following unimplemented function:
wine: Call from 0x7b83a38e to unimplemented function
d3dx10_43.dll.D3DX10CompileFromMemory, aborting
After 'winetricks d3dx10 d3dcompiler_43' the game no longer complains about
unimplemented stuff, but still fails to start, showing an error message:

ESO log with +hlsl_parser,+d3dcompiler,+d3d11
After adding MaxVersionGL=40004 to HKCU\Software\Wine\Direct3D, I was finally
able to get past an issue with Wine trying to use a compatibility profile with
Mesa [1]. Now, I'm greeted with a black screen after clicking play in the Elder
Scrolls Online launcher program. I have attached a log file with +hlsl_parser,
+d3dcompiler, and +d3d11 debug channels enabled.
There are multiple errors reported, and I am unsure of which is the cause of
the black screen.
The following two seem to be important:
fixme:d3d11:d3d11_immediate_context_OMSetBlendState Per-rendertarget blend not
implemented.
fixme:d3d11:d3d11_immediate_context_OMSetBlendState Color mask > 3 not
implemented.
However, there also seems to be an issue with the HLSL compiler:
err:d3dcompiler:compile_shader HLSL shader parsing failed.
Let me know if there is anything I can do to help debug this. Thanks.

Native d3dx11_42.dll is a workaround, but the game crashes later because of
some other lacking feature or bug in Wine's d3d11 implementation. Fortunately
the game offers DX9 mode which runs properly.

it seems d3dcompiler hlsl error is common for some dx11/dx9 games from wine
bugzilla, for Assassins Creed III / IV must switch to native d3dcompiler_43 to
avoid startup black window and must work with dxvk to avoid startup crash.
dxvk work almost perfect for most games i tested, with buildin dx11
implementation i always meet crashing or very low fps.
so if wined3d implementation port to vulkan driver including dx9~12 will
natural avoid many crashing, unimplementation, is it?
regards.

AMD Mecha Demo, uses DX11 and demonstrates use of OIT (order indepdenent
transparency), using per-pixel linked list. To implement it, demo uses atomic
counter in shaders.
Reproduced with Wine Staging 1.12.1, with Mesa 19.2.0-rc2, and Mesa
19.3.0-devel.
Demo works correctly when run using DXVK 1.4.1.
Before starting the demo, I suggest editing a Sushi.ini file to reduce
resolution and make it windowed. Even then you might need to kill it if it
becomes extremely slow.

+d3d_shader log of the suspected cause
This is on nvidia proprietary driver (although it seems to be replicated by
other users based on
[this](https://forum.kingdomcomerpg.com/t/linux-running-kc-d-with-wine/41173)
topic in the official games forum and is likely not hardware-dependent).
The bug occurs on 3.3, 3.3-staging (the new 3.x rebased fork), and
2.21-staging.
Basically, when the main character (and only him - NPCs with torches do not
seem to be affected) pulls out his torch from the inventory, no illumination is
produced. To be more precise, the illumination effect appears to be there but
blocked by something in front of the character; moving the point of view from
left to right very quickly shows the effect I'm talking about - the
illumination will briefly appear on the left/right but disappears as soon as
the movement stops.
I - perhaps mistakenly - assumed it may be a shader issue because the only
relevant log output when it occurs is a series of shader fixmes; the lines in
question only appear when the torch is enabled. I've attached a log of the
relevant section of the output with +d3d_shader to this bug report.

In game gamma settings are not having any affect on the game, and the gamma
reverts to 1.0 at all times, no matter what adjustments are set. I also ran
xrandr to preset the gamma, before launching wine 3.3 staging, and noticed that
it dropped the gamma back to 1.0 and would never change, even when the gamma
slider on the advanced settings tab in game was adjusted. since stable wine can
not launch WoW, I can not explicitly say if the problem is a patch, or the main
branch of wine.

When connecting to a server that's running Etpro mod the game crashes. In more
detail, when the game connects to a server running Etpro mod it's able to
download (if not already in your game folder) server specific files: map that's
being played, mod files and server configuration. After there's no other file
to download the game gets stuck displaying "Awaiting gamestate..." and crashes.
On the other hand, the game is able to connect to servers running other mods
such as Jaymod, Silent and others. So far the only mod I'm aware is failing is
Etpro. Moreover, the game is able to load Etpro mod from its main window: Mods
> Etpro > Load Mod.
The game is available for free from its developers page:

Apologies, I am a complete noob so I'm most likely reporting this incorrectly.
The program error states that it could be an issue with the .exe or Wine (I'm
using the stable version).
64bit Ubuntu 20.04 LTS
The .exe is apparently developed for both 32 and 64 bit OSs.
Back trace attached.
I recently ditched Microsoft for Linux completely cold turkey so I'm still
getting to grips with how things work. I'm not exactly a techtard so I should
be able to give you all the information you need.
This is a paid app so I'm hoping there's a fix.

It starts working for me when you temporary move the window out of the screen
which means the bug is still there. Maybe Plasma makes app receive additional
repaint calls.

Hi
I had pretty old Fedora 18 om my laptop with wine 1.6.x, where I was able to
launch successfully Age of Empires II: Forgotten Empires. Furthermore, I was
able to launch it in such a way that I used my external monitor as the primary
output i.e. the game was on the external monitor.
I upgraded recently to Fedora 22, which comes with wine 1.7.44, and (at least)
Age of Empires II does not launch anymore on the external monitor. Wine crashes
with the "page fault" error (see more comments below). Interestingly enough, if
I use laptop screen as the primary output, it works without problems.
I downgraded wine to 1.7.5, same issue. However, once I installed wine 1.6.1,
it started to work on the external monitor without any problem! So, I heavily
suspect that this is 1.7.x series issue. I ufortunately cannot say whether it
is somehow specific to Age of Empires II and/or my video card. If needed, I can
try other games.
Coming back to the "page fault" error itself.. Based on my personal programming
experience, it looks like some uninitialized pointer because there were a few
rare cases when wine 1.7.x actually started on the external monitor!! The
success rate was however quite low, maybe 1 out of 20. What I noticed is that
the first launch after reboot has a high probability of succeeding, but all the
next runs always fail.
With best regards,
Alex

This is not a bug. But this is suggestion for an improvement. Wine would be
more user friendly if we could add this functionality.
Until now, when we open winecfg tab library and choose a dll from the list of
overwritable dll's, then we do not know, if there is really a "nativ dll" in
our prefix. And if wine can find it.
So when a particular program does not work correctly in wine it could be, that
it is just, because wine can not find the dll we have overritten.
Suggestion:
When we select a dll for overriding and wine can not access it, wine should
display a warning message right after we select the DLL.
Alternatively you could implement an additional button called "Check access to
native dll's" in the library register.
This way we were able to check if wine really can find the native dll's when
selecting the dll's. Or if we have to copy one in.

Some gog installers are visible in Gnome-shell preview, but some are not.
_NET_WM_STATE(ATOM) = _NET_WM_STATE_SKIP_TASKBAR - cause that this windows
aren't shown.
This maybe is "correct" behavior but is very it's very annoying and hard to
find correct window when this flag is set, so maybe this flag should be
forbidden.

Entering game, moving cursor in a attempt to hit "Exit game".
The mouse is impossible to use in The Witcher 3. It appears the axes are
inverted, but it fast enough moves the cursor in the right direction. In-game
options have no effect and host system mouse options neither.
A different game (Of Orcs and Men) shows correct behaviour with the same wine
version.
Downgrading wine to 5.8 fixes the issue in The Witcher 3.

Trace of Fallout NV (fdelente)
Hello,
I'm on Fedora 26 64 bits, with wine staging 2.15 in a 32-bit prefix, I
installed Fallout New Vegas through Steam but it doesn't start: the launcher
shows up, I click play, I have the splash screen (the game is in windowed mode)
showing the copyrights text but it closes and Fallout NV stops here. I have
installed d3dx9 and quartz with winetricks though, as suggested on d3dx9, and
have plenty of other games working correctly (Dark Souls I, II and II Scholar,
Bioshock 2, Dishonored, Borderlands...)
A trace with WINEDEBUG=+d3d doesn't show any error, I only have fixmes for
gstreamer:
fixme:gstreamer:unknown_type Could not find a filter for caps:
application/x-id3
I installed all i686 versions of the gstreamer plugins, I tried disabling the
gstreamer library in winecfg, but no luck, the game won't start.
I attach the log I have obtained in the console.

Sometimes, not always, the game crashes when returning to the title screen
(either via the in-game quit option, or by backing out after selecting 'New
Game', which sometimes seems to trigger the crash more often-like).
The game has been also seen to crash every time when entering the title screen,
after it had crashed once before, but this was 'fixed' by making sure the Wine
processes were terminated ('wineserver -k' for example), although that may have
been experienced in a not-so-clean Wine prefix.
Both bug 38490 and bug 43398 seem different enough (and somewhat abandoned) for
this to be a separate issue (though they are very similar; perhaps the root
cause is not very different).

After upgrade to 5.9 (5.7 worked) the mouse in Fallout New Vegas no longer
works properly. Sensitivity increases greatly and it appears that each axis is
inverted. Moving the mouse on the launching screen and in game is very
difficult, it stutters, jumps around and changes direction randomly. The game
functionality itself or the menus are not affected and work correctly with
enough patience. Console output does not include any input-related errors.

When a graph transitions from pause to run with a VMR9 video window present
(which has been owned by another window with put_Owner) the Wine window
implementing VMR9 is incorrectly given focus. This will steal focus from an
active window in a different process, and because the actual owner wasn't
active, all focus is lost within the Wine subsystem.
I.E. Task bar says original app is focused, but that window title has gone
grey, the VRM9 window title goes blue but nothing actually has focus.
Note, if the graph is run when the app owning the VMR9 is focused, everything
works as normal including the Message-Drain API in VMR9, although focus is
still lost from the app owner window. This possibly obscures this bug.
Note also, I think "other things" like altering mouse pointer visibility with
mouse-move messages also cause the Wine window implementing VMR9 to gain focus,
so simply moving the mouse over video output can steal focus from a different
active application within Wine.

I'm using Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty). I have installed Wine 1.1.26 and IrfanView
4.25. The installation is partially successful. I can open Irfanview, for
example, and change its Preferences.
I have set IrfanView to be the default program for .wav files by right-clicking
on a .wav file and selecting Properties > Open With > IrfanView. When I
double-click on a .wav, I get this error message:
"Error: Windows can't play this file! Windows error text: Invalid MCI device
ID. Use the ID returned when opening the MCI device.. You can try to install
additional video/audio codecs from this site: www.fourcc.org/indexcod.htm or
try the DirectShow option in Properties->Video."
The DirectShow option does not fix the problem. After I click OK on this error
message, it repeats. I click OK again. This happens a total of four times. Then
IrfanView plays the audio file, with a little window that says "No Device." If
I click the arrow in IrfanView, to move on to the next audio file, the same
routine repeats.

The problem doesn't occur with plain Wine, because the incorrect commit from
bug 33479 somehow magically "works around" this regression. I am opening this
bug anyway because sooner or later a proper fix will get upstream.
To reproduce this issue, you have to revert
76bbf106a28c4caa82873e8450bde7d4adc765bf, or alternatively apply the staging
fix for bug 33479. See here for more details
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=33479#c45 .
When starting Settlers 3 as fullscreen, before the bad commit was introduced
the mouse cursor appears and works properly on the start screen and in the
menu. After the bad commit the mouse cursor doesn't show up anymore. This makes
it impossible to enter the game.
Patch http://source.winehq.org/patches/data/108577 does not help in this case,
and the issue is still present in latest upstream Wine
(wine-1.7.36-83-gf75d1b0).
Desktop environment: XFCE 4.1

I've submitted a test case for this widl bug:
https://source.winehq.org/patches/data/186613
In order to see the bug one needs to remove #ifdef'ed code in server.idl.
Without '#if 0' widl generates broken format strings and the tests crash
under Windows and Wine.
As far as I can see widl generates incorrect memory offsets for embedded
structure fields with size_is() attribute, NdrSimpleStructBufferSize()
calculates wrong size, and later calls in the client/server stubs lead to
memory corruption.

Terminal output
ImgBurn supports burning audio CDs from a few types of audio files out of the
box, but additional formats, including FLAC, can be supported by installing
DirectShow filers. DC-Bass Source provides support for various codecs,
including FLAC:
http://www.dsp-worx.de/?n=15
Unfortunately, this doesn't actually work with Wine; trying to add a FLAC file
to the compilation after installing DC-Bass Source produces an error:
GetDuration failed!
File Name: <file path>
Reason: Error: 0x80004001
The file is added to the list of tracks anyway, but attempting to create a CUE
sheet for burning will fail with the same message until the offending file(s)
are removed. Using native qedit.dll makes that error go away, and a CUE sheet
is created successfully.
AAC files fail with the same error initially, but native qedit only changes the
error code for those files...
Steps to reproduce:
1. Install ImgBurn
2. Download and extract DC-Bass Source:
http://download.dsp-worx.de/?f=DCBassSource_v1.30_Binary.zip
3. From the DC-Bass Source directory, run register.bat
4. Start ImgBurn and go to tools -> create CUE file
5. Try to add a FLAC file

https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=49162
Bug ID: 49162
Summary: widl generates incorrect marshaller for pointer sized
output parameter for 32-bit client and 64-bit server
Product: Wine
Version: 5.8
Hardware: x86-64
OS: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: rpc
Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
Reporter: dmitry(a)baikal.ru
Distribution: ---
Consider the following .idl:
import "objidl.idl";
cpp_quote("#if 0")
typedef ULONG_PTR HDATA;
cpp_quote("#endif")
[
uuid(00000000-1111-2222-3333-444444444444),
implicit_handle(handle_t rpc_handle),
version(1.0)
]
interface IServer
{
DWORD rpc_GetData([out] HDATA *data);
}
Makefile snippet:
server_s.c: Makefile server.idl $(WIDL)
$(WIDL) -s -h -o $@ server.idl -m64 -I. -I$(WINEINCLUDE)
server_c.c: Makefile server.idl $(WIDL)
$(WIDL) -c -h -o $@ server.idl -m32 -I. -I$(WINEINCLUDE)
generated server_s.c snippet:
void __RPC_STUB IServer_rpc_GetData( PRPC_MESSAGE _pRpcMessage )
{
...
*(HDATA *)__frame->_StubMsg.Buffer = *__frame->data;
...
*(DWORD *)__frame->_StubMsg.Buffer = __frame->_RetVal;
}
generated server_c.c snippet:
DWORD __cdecl rpc_GetData(
HDATA *data)
{
...
*data = *(HDATA *)__frame->_StubMsg.Buffer;
...
_RetVal = *(DWORD *)__frame->_StubMsg.Buffer;
}
As a result a being marshalled buffer looks like this:
[8 bytes HDATA][4 bytes _RetVal]
and on the client side _Retval gets value of upper 32-bits of the 64-bit HDATA.

Log during volume control adjustment attempt
Attempting to adjust the volume control in Windows Media Player 6.4 has no
