When using wine and trying to type something in SharpDevelop 5.1, the app
crashes with the log attached.
OS: Ubuntu 18.04.3
Tested wine: 4.21 up to 5.0~rc5
Steps to reproduce:
- Install dotnet45, vcrun2008 and set windows version to 7
- Install SharpDevelop from here:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/sharpdevelop/files/SharpDevelop%205.x/5.1/
- Create a new project/solution in SharpDevelop (any template works)
- Type any text into the textbox (usually after 2-3 chars it crashes)
With corefonts installed there's no crash.

Up to version 5.0~rc2 the autocomplete feature worked fine in SharpDevelop 5.1.
>From 5.0~rc3 it's difficult to write something since when the popup from the
autocomplete is shown, the focus from the textbox seems to be stolen so you
need to click back into the textbox to be able to type again.

The unity backtrace.
Every unity application I try to run results in "UnityCrashHandler.exe has

Why does winetricks refuse to install jet40 in 64bit prefix?
If I manually copy the msjet DLLs into the 64bit prefix SYSWOW64 folder and
start a dos prompt and register the Jet DLLs with REGSVR32.EXE
Everything works great. My 32bit dotnet application (I am the program creator)
using oledb/Jet works fine in the 64bit prefix.
Something needs to allow jet40 to be installed in SYSWOW64 in 64bit prefix. It
works fine.

Black planetary surface
Certain dx11 games have issues with textures being extremely black.A most
notable game is Rodina.In the case of Rodina everything renders correctly
except from planetary surfaces as shown in pic and the player's spaceship
texture which are almost totally black.

Starting with wine-staging 4.17 debian bullseye package wine stopped working,
completely.
Running winecfg prints two lines and then nothing (no window appears)
The process does not exit and just stays in foreground.

Graphical glitches
There's a fairly heavy graphical bug in my GOG version of "Giants Citizen
Kabuto" - this occurs in both normal and staging all the way down to 1.6 and
probably further.
While this happens the game spams this error message: "Zero length vector"
It makes sense. You can't see in the screenshot but it looks more like random
vertices are being randomly moved and the triangles are dragged all over the
place.
Strangely, this is related to another issue. People seem to have issues with
mouse responsiveness in GCK. I've experienced this too. Whenever I start the
game I have a random chance of getting either the graphical glitches or the
mouse issues, but both don't occur at the same time.
While wine complains about the game wanting a double backbuffer, using a
patched wine with double backbuffer enabled doesn't fix the problem.

This is a regression between 4.21 and 5.0rc1.
On 4.21, clicking UI elements (e.g. Play button, friends list, or most
noticeably selecting different games) was smooth and quick. On 5.0rc1 there is
a 1-2 second lag after clicking when the whole UI is not responsive.
Reproduces both on NVIDIA (GTX 1060 with proprietary driver) and AMD (RX 560
with Mesa).
I've tested in a clean prefix, and narrowed it down to be between Staging
commits 4522654f and 45d69ec4:

Running Evil Within with DXVK (without dxvk game starts with very bad
performance). I can hear audio during initial videos, but as soon as the game
menu appears, no audio can be heard.
Tried the following things:
* wine and wine-staging
* clean prefix
* installing xact engine (for xaudio2) through winetricks
* using alsa backend
but nothing works. I attached a log as described in the Audio page of the wiki.

Rayman Origins boots up and plays fine, but sound effects for walking, jumping
and anything else not ambience-related does not play. That includes the menu
buttons sound effects, too. Music plays fine. Changing the SFX volume in the
options work for the ambience but nothing else happens.
I've attached the terminal log but there doesn't seem to be anything out of the
ordinary.

textures are not shown (they are just black).
According to AppDB "-C" disables the compressed textures. Then the textures are
shown normally.

Apt should be made aware that different debug packages can't be installed at
the same time, so that it shows them as conflicting.
In the current state it tries to install both and fails:
dpkg: error processing archive wine-staging-dbg_5.0~rc2~buster_amd64.deb
(--install):
trying to overwrite
'/usr/lib/debug/.build-id/2c/8d15289b8f02099d9ee339820e5ec6c134bf00.debug',
which is also in package wine-devel-dbg:amd64 5.0~rc2~buster
(Unrelated question: Are both wine-devel-dbg:amd64 and wine-devel-dbg:i386
required to get all the debug symbols needed?
If so the amd64 package should depend on the i386 one to prevent incomplete
debug info being submitted on bugs etc.)

Dune 2000 installer crashes early in winevdm (wine 4.11 output)

I get a crash when starting the installer from the Dune 2000 retail CD.
Regression test revealed that reverting the following commit on top of wine
4.11 works around the regression:

The game beatmania IIDX INFINITAS if it is started from a OpenGL-powered DE,
like KDE, GNOME or Unity, has frozen graphics after the loading screen is
passed but the menu navigation still works, aswell as the sound.
The workaround is simple: start it from a plain standalone X server as I
described it in my test results at
https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=33674
The terminal output says something about OpenGL backbuffe, but I have no idea
what this means. A other problem also could be that the game changes the
resolution to 480p (xrandr).
It's just a trivial bug, since the workaround is quite simple.
I don't know if this even has something todo with wine. Could be a bug in the
game itself too.
ALSO:
the OpenGL backbuffer message doesn't appear when the game is started from a
plain standalone X server

I have a clean 32-bit prefix in Wine 1.9.5 installed from the Arch repos.
I have a debug log here:

I've used the following debug channels for debugging purposes:

Steps to reproduce:
1. Run "wine Caverns of Xaskazien 2.exe"
2. Select "Enter the Caverns" and create a character.
3. After naming your character hit Enter and wait for the game to load. It
should crash as soon as the loading indicator gets to about a quarter of the
way in.

EXCEL2003 "prints to file" fine with no error messages, but the generated file
(name?) cannot be found anywhere.
however: the OS does not ask the user to name the PDF file or to say where to
save the file.
the excel "printing dialog" does not show the usual choice "printer: PDF"
in the same machine CALC does not show the usual choice "printer: PDF" either,
but it "prints to file" fine after asking for the name and location of the PDF
file.
in another xubuntu (32bit) machine with wine, excel shows the choice "printer:
PDF", and the excel PDF goes to the user's xubuntu PDF folder...

Output from wine during the install of DOpus
When installing Directory Opus, the installer works up until the point where it
starts copying the files to the hard drive. The progress bar moves to about
90% and then the installer hangs.
I received an error like the following:
err:ntdll:RtlpWaitForCriticalSection section 0x110048 "heap.c: main process
heap section" wait timed out in thread 0021, blocked by 0009, retrying (60 sec)
It did wait 60 seconds, then it output another line like the one above. After
that I waited for 10 minutes but there was no more output. I had to kill the
process to get back to the shell.
Using Wine 1.0-rc3 on Ubuntu 8.04

Hi I'm having problems with the dragknife gadget on the gadgets menu.
When it comes up I can input the measurements but I can't click to "Select

The launcher does not display
*the background instead it displays gray background
*the images for the buttons instead it displays generic Window's buttons
plus you cannot close the launcher eg "Exit" or "Run Game".
Both appear to be in a launcher.dat file

Wine output when the bug occurs
Since version 0.9.48, with Heredis 9, an error occurs when trying to display
html content with the gecko module.
An error window pops up : "Access violation at address 7DDXXXXX in module
'mshtml.dll' Read of address 000000XX", where X is a random number. The message
is sometimes followed by "Abnormal program termination" killing the program.
This error occurs with versions 0.9.48, 0.9.49, 0.9.50 and 0.9.51, but not with
previous versions. The tests were made using Ubuntu 7.10.

winetricks sets the version to winxp, but it seems wmp10 checks the actual dll
resource version, which is hardcoded and not subject to override by wine's
reported version.

Installation works flawlessly. It asked to install VC2005, which I confirmed.
When opening the software the first time, it will crash with the crash report I
appended.
When opening it again, it will open, giving this error:
> Invalid Catalog
> The selected catalog "C:\Program Files (x86)\CMS 3 GmbH\Catalogs\CMS DIN\DuctCat.vdb" could not be opened! Please select a valid catalog to open in the menu for the program options.
It will then show the main window. If you click on Configuration -> Catalogue
-> Open... and select the catalog file "C:\Program Files (x86)\CMS 3
GmbH\Catalogs\CMS DIN\DuctCat.vdb", the same crash will happen.
I suspect that this is just some kind of "Open the last catalog again if exited
gracefully" logic and both crashes essentially the same (So on the first start,
it just tries to open the catalog file on its own)
These are the lines from the crash log I think are most relevant:

Login works fine on 5.0-rc1 but is broken on 5.0-rc2
Since DDO is from the same company as LOTRO and basically uses the same
launcher, this is probably the same as #48388
By bisecting I tracked down the first bad commit to

depth problem
Hello! It is me again:) I'm having issue with Serious Sam game, when objects
not correctly covered by each other, further objects drawn above closest
objects. Happens on GOG version of the game, and not on Serious Sam Demo from
web archive. Same as before, only happen with mesa/nouveau, proprietary nvidia
drivers works fine (if I can say that about proprietary drivers, they have it's
own not related issues)

After wine upgrade launching GTAVC in wine virtual desktop doesn't show
anything on screen of the virtual desktop. I can hear sound from intro video
though. In fact, I can click on the GTAVC icon at the bottom-left, then a menu
appears, selecting "Restore" in which gives me the game window and allows
playing.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Delete ~/.wine
2. Download VC_redist.x86.exe from
https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=746571
3. Run `WINEARCH=win32 VC_redist.x86.exe`
The program simply exits without showing any GUI. Console output is attached.
Strangely, if WINEARCH=win64, the installer works fine. A regression test said:

A Windows program calls a native Linux command and redirects stdout so that it
can process the output. This used to work in older Wine versions, e.g. 1.6.2
but is not working in newer versions.
It seems that instead of writing to a pipe (that the Windows program could
read) the output goes directly to Wine's stdout.
Use case: a Wine-aware program can use Linux commands to check if the data is
stored on an encrypted drive/folder.
The attached program demonstrates the problem. When passing "1" as parameter it
will call "/bin/ls -al", and redirect and read the output. When running with
newer Wine versions it can clearly be seen that the program reads 0 bytes from
the pipe.
When passing "2" as parameter it calls the Windows command "dir" and redirects
and reads the output. This works correctly.

A second Windows program, available at
https://gist.github.com/ermshiperete/1e4cb1bc32e5175c369ec3d0d594cef8, can be

Upon starting the game the screen turns black and stays that way. The sound
from the intro video can be heard, then probably the main menu is displayed
because I can hear clicking sounds as the mouse pointer hits various menu
items, but nothing can be seen.

Sanity: Aiken's Artifact demo launcher screenshot
With today's Git (wine-1.1.10-371-g2aa7a7f), when launching the Sanity: Aiken's
Artifact demo, the demo launcher bitmap is not drawn and appears to be filled
in by the application background. Moving the window permits the graphic to be
drawn. There were no particular standard error traces of interest. Screenshot
is attached.

Grass is red in the game (both in the cutscenes and in the main game) when
<video quality> option is set to either low, medium, high or very high. If I
select <very low> quality preset then grass is rendered correctly.
Native d3dx9_36 is needed to start the game.

The Error is "A problem has caused the program to stop working correctly. To

This happened after a WGC update, tested in both 4.21(current) and 4.20(in
which is worked before) so this is an update to WGC.
This happens with both with and without dxvk installed (1.5-3)

The game can be installed (working around bug 44765), but it can't be started.
When running "alice.exe" nothing happens and the process just terminates.
When copying the installed game's contents into a Win7 VM, and then running it
there, it complains about a missing CD (as expected). Bu under wine, this check
doesn't seem to happen, the program just closes. I guess it can't load the copy
protection properly.
When using a no-CD patch, the game starts up fine and can be played. But that's
hardly a solution.
ProtectionID says the game uses Safedisc v2.05.030. Debugger won't work
properly due to the nature of the games copy protection.

Both DDSopt ( https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/5755/ ) and Oredenator (
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/12801/ ) are unable to be used. DDSopt
soft-crashes before startup, and Ordenator cannot compress textures, both for
the same reason.
This might be because they create a DirectX 9 context without a window attached
to it.
Testing with DDSopt, as it is the simpler of the two, it seems to fail when it
creates the device at this line:

Changing from D3DDEVTYPE_NULLREF to D3DDEVTYPE_HAL doesn't help either.
The error before crashing is this, repeated 5 times (with different values for

device context 0x1f0050.
This is also the error shown with Ordenator as well.

Since upgrading WINE to 5.0-rc3 from 4.19 I can no longer log into Lord of the
Rings Online (LOTRO), rendering the game unplayable.
Reverting to WINE 4.19 restores functionality (4.20/4.21 and earlier 5.0 RCs
not tested).

- ensure LOTRO is fully patched

For some reason, for many years now, Wine updates the symlinks of the logical
drives everytime it detects a version change of itself. This means, your
carefully crafted symlinks get lost and the program started doesn't find its
data. You have to quit, renew the symlinks and start over. Sometimes, you even
have to clean up the destination directories Wine chose, because the clutter
doesn't belong there.
Wine should leave symlinks alone, except in the case they're "dangling" i.e.
the destination they point to doesn't exist.

About dialog
1. Select the cleared transaction (a green tick shows)
2. `0 deposits, credits 0.00` should have updated to `1 deposit, credit 10.00`
3. `Cleared Balance: 0.00` should have updated to `Cleared Balance: 10.00`.
4. `Difference: -41.00` should have updated to `Difference: -31.00`.
Workaround:
1. Press the space-bar to select or deselect the `Clr` (cleared transaction)
field
2. Press the down-arrow on the keyboard
3. Press the up-arrow on the keyboard
Now the items at 2, 3 and 4 are shown correctly.
Pressing the space-bar on a transaction, the `Clr` (cleared transaction) field
is toggled (places or removes a green tick) and should also move to the next
transaction. Bug: The selected line does not move to the next transaction when
the space-bar is pressed.

Was able to install and use last year using Mint 19.1 and Wine 4.0.1 using the
following fix, that I had posted in the AppDB for DelftShip. I have since moved
over to Manjaro 18.1.5 and using Staging 5.0-rc2. I followed the procedure
below and it installed acouple of extra files and I didnt see any errors on the
installation, but when I run the program I get "Runtime Error 217 at
00000000004140EC"
Last working fix
"Possible problem with some distro/wine combination - found was that the
downloaded "exe" installer would hang up at "moving files"; see below for
workaround.
Set Winecfg default to Windows 7 The exe installer is affected by bug 34989 /
33345, and the workaround mentioned in that bug report works for DELFTship. Run
the downloaded exe with the following command to extract the files within it:
wine /path/to/version_of_delftship.exe /extract Example: dave@dave-GB-BXBT-1900
~ $ wine /home/dave/Downloads/DELFTship_90_300_mc0_sa.exe /extract This will
create a subdirectory with the extracted files in the directory where the exe
is located. The name of the subdirectory will be some combination of letters
and numbers. Example: /home/dave/Downloads/323610A Within the directory are two
files, Delftship.msi and DelftShip.x64.msi one is 32 bit and one 64 bit. take
your pick, both worked fine on my version of wine 2.0. Once you click on the
version you want it will install DelftShip and ask you if you want to run the
program. That's all folks ;-0"

ships ingame (excluding ones on UI). when running from terminal I can see loads

because our wininet doesn't support
InternetSetOption(,INTERNET_OPTION_USER_AGENT,) yet.
winetricks wininet works around the problem.

I inserted an audio cd, made sure Linux could read the tracks,
then ran Express Rip. It popped up a warning saying it
couldn't find any cd-rom device. I went to winecfg and set
the drive type of my cdrom from autodetect to cd-rom.
That got rid of the popup, but still no dice detecting
the disc. Also happens with wine-0.9.42.

Unfortunately, commit 27b9a420ea87fd85c0c933b7db77a9efb22f94cf "msvcrt: Fix
[str|wcs]tod result being compared against FLT_MAX." reintroduces the buggy
behavior described in https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=48180 .
As a first step I've included two tracelogs of WINEDEBUG=+msvcrt, the first one
is running Wine built with the problematic commit while the second one is
running Wine built with the immediately previous commit.
For anything else that may be needed (e.g. +relay tracelogs, as mentioned in
the previous bug thread) I'm ready and willing :)

This is the next problem after bug 12361 and bug 12359.
Setting "native win32" mode in EAC options
as described at http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-386370.html
causes Exact Audio Copy to lock up on the next startup.
It seems to wait forever for an event inside a windows
message handler for an app-defined message.
The next time you start EAC, it defaults back to the non-crashy
ASPI method, but that doesn't find discs for me (bug 12359).

I have installed the latest version of Wine (wine-4.0.3).
I have installed battlenet from the blizzard website and then installed
starcraft 2 from inside battlenet.
I can start battlenet, login successfully, but when I press on play, it says
"launching" for a moment, then the Play button gets enabled again, but the game
does not start.
I can also press on other buttons successfully (like the account,
notifications...). The only other that I cannot press or it just gets stuck is
the Country/Region (just above the Play button)
If I start Battlenet from the terminal

1.7.35, and I now get them even when not running a 3D application (eg.
cmd.exe).

I noticed this in SoF3 first, then downloaded RightMark3DSound to confirm it.
In RightMark3DSound, position the sound box just one pixel to the left and you
get mostly only sound on the left, same for the right side. If you use it on a
windows machine the sound volumes on each channel are as expected (meaning
entirely different).

I only added the asound.conf lines shown at the end of the video, because I
thought it might be 5.1 support weirdness of wine. What they do is to mix the
designated >2 channel PCMs down to stereo sound.

Burn Iso windows before resizing it -- note missing buttons
Hi All,
When first opening Deep Burner 1.9, you are presenter with a dialog box asking
you what you want to do. If you select "burn ISO image", it open the Burn ISO
window.
Problem: in the lower right corner of this window, there are three buttons:
cancel, erase, burn ISO. These buttons do not show. But, you can workaround
the problem by sizing the lower right corner of the screen: smaller or larger,
the the buttons magically reappear.

When running The Sims 4 on my MacBook Pro the game works fine when using the
integrated GPU (Intel HD Graphics 3000) but has graphical glitches when using
the discrete GPU (AMD Radeon HD 6750M). The glitches appear to affect 2D
overlays such as icons, menu and buildings in the map view. The buildings in
the map disappear when hovering the mouse pointer over them.
I tried to generate a log using WINEDEBUG=+d3d but with that option set the
game crashes before reaching the main menu (regardless of GPU). Logs attached
anyway (although probably useless as there are no visible glitches before the
crash).

Airport Inc. is an airport management simulation game. According to Wikipedia,
it was marketed as Airport Tycoon outside Europe:

There is a problem with the game window size when Wine is in virtual desktop
mode.
The game can be set to run in full-screen or windowed mode. Running under
Windows, in windowed mode the game window inner size (excluding window
decorations) is 640x480 pixels. So the overall window size is slightly larger.
Running in Wine with virtual desktop mode enabled, the overall window size is
640x480 pixels. This causes some rendering to be cut off at the bottom of the
window. Also notice the band at the top. It seems all rendering is shifted
down, meaning more is cut off at the bottom than would otherwise be the case.
See the attached screenshots. (There are some text/graphics rendering problems
which are the subject of bug 14497.)
When virtual desktop mode is disabled, things are better. The game window
opens, initially without any decorations visible (strange!). The window's
contents are still rendered too low, offset vertically. However, If I activate
another window, then click in the game window, the X window manager decorations
appear, and the rendering is no longer offset. (Testing using Xubuntu 9.10
which uses xfwm4 window manager.)

I have multiple linux installs in different partitions and different desktops.
All suffer from this.
Manjaro KDE
Manjaro LXDQ
Linux Mint Cinnamon 19.2
Running Wine Staging 4.17
In one setup Playonlinux allowed switching to normal 4.17 and other earlier
versions, all I have tried suffer from the bug. But the problem happens in a
normal wine install without Playonlinux.
32bit prefix in all cases. Hearthstone running in windowed mode using the
-force-d3d9 in Battlenet.
All were working normally until sometime last week.
If I shrink the Hearthstone game window and then bring it back up to size the
windows becomes unresponsive. I cant click anything inside the window and have
to click on the x in the top bar to close the window.
After pounding my head in and trying a few dozen things, unchecking "Allow the
window manager to decorate the windows" on the graphics tab of winecfg removes
the problem but the windows are ugly.
Since I can get Hearthstone to play I am listing this as a minor bug. Hopefuly
if anyone else has the issue they can use the workaround.
