Tekken 7 (Steam) shows a cyan colored flicker in place of some background
images. For instance the Bandai Namco logo right at the start of the game is
instead a completely cyan colored screen. At the main menu, the background
image of Heihachi changes between the normal image and a solid cyan colored
background.
Last working version is wine staging 3.6. The issue appeared with 3.7 and is
still present in 3.8. Downgrading to 3.6 makes the issue disappear. apt-get
upgrading to 3.8 again makes it reappear.

Property dialogs in Visio 2003 are not working with Wine 3.2/3.3
In order to make Visio run I have set the following overrides:
gdiplus (native)
riched20 (native, builtin)
Up until version 2.21 (that I can tell) Visio 2003 ran perfectly, however
starting with newer versions 3.2 and 3.3 the property dialogues don't show
regardless of override or not.
The problem can be recreated by creating a new empty diagram, draw something
like a line, then right click on the line and from the menu, choose
"format->line" on Wine 2.21 the dialog opens without problem, on Wine 3.3 no
window opens and Visio remains in an inconsistent state where you can't click
on menus or toolbars.
I have reverted back to Wine 2.21 and visio works perfectly again with the same
prefix I used with Wine 3.x.
My computer runs Ubuntu 16.04.4.

Hello folks,
just for documenting the issue.
A user in #winehq wanted to install Anno 1602 and it failed for him.
I've investigated some Anno 1602 bugs in the past (bug 13754 for example) but
never encountered this.
I bought the original game cheaply, CD Cover says "Windows 95/98".
Date of files on CD is November, 2001
Installs fine in 32-bit WINEPREFIX using Wine 1.6, 1.7.x
UBISoft provides an installer fix for Windows 2000 and Windows XP, indicating
that the 1998 installer can't work on modern Windows OS (various 'Anno' online
forums mention this).
It's also unlikely that MS provides a shim for this otherwise the installer
would work for Windows 2K/XP users.

Don't return E_FAIL
To reproduce, set Windows version to Win7 or Vista (otherwise these options are
hidden by the program) and then go to view -> large icons (or extra large
icons). Depending on which of those options is selected, it outputs one of the
following lines:
fixme:shell:SHGetImageList Unsupported image list 2 requested
fixme:shell:SHGetImageList Unsupported image list 4 requested
...then crashes immediately. Hacking SHGetImageList to stop returning a failure
after that fixme prevents the crash.

test case
The Windows version of WritePrivateProfileString reports an error if flushing
to file failed.
See attached test case. It tries to write to Z:\test.ini (which is expected to
fail as Z is mapped to /, with no write perms).
Under wine I get no output from the test, and the file isn't created. Failure
warnings do show up in +profile channel log:

When loading Janetter 4.1.1.0 (can be downloaded at
http://janetter.net/desktop.html) in wine64 mode, the Janetter window shows and
stays at a screen with a spinning wheel, where it is trying to load the client.
Eventually, a message box shows saying "Backend server cannot init" (probably
referring to JanetterSvr.exe?) and upon closing the message box, it continues
to attempt to load.
I am currently using Arch Linux x86_64 with the wine 1.5.22 package.

cscript cannot create file dialogs with vbs, which is a shame as it could
provide a really simple way to test wine.
First I confirmed a simple message box worked by creating a file hello.vbs
containing:
MsgBox "Hello world"
Then running
wine cscript hello.vbs
Then I tried various examples to create file dialogs and none worked, here is
one -

Problem found on latest Git (commit a2f2de1e960d37840bb0df541e31d64941e65197)
but also older versions (e.g. wine 1.8).
This simple program written in Delphi (attached, including source code) uses a
TXMLDocument to load XML, format it and then prints it in a MessageBox.
The imported XML is included in source (Unit1.pas), I paste it here for
convenience:

When the program runs on Windows, it prints an equivalent XML, with some

When run on Wine, the string '#13;' is added in a few places (see attached
output_wine.png).
I'm also attaching a trace file (WINEDEBUG=+msxml).

I've seen this problem in at least one other place, but WolfRPG Editor is
easiest to get.
Once the project gets large enough (in file numbers) so that the map treeview
gets vertically scrollable, a significant portion of it at the top turns blank.
Also, there are other glitches during navigating the visible portion of the
treeview up/down with a keyboard. You can navigate with keyboard/mouse into the
invisible section, but the displayed items get quite messy.

this bug was found in a finanical securities software.
program downloaded some html/css/img contents from the internet, and show these
contents in a pop window with builtin mshtml. But actually the pop window's
mshtml just load the html file (like index.html), the img/css/js resources were
not loaded.
I tested builtin iexplore and found the same problem.
finally I found there are some Chinese characters in the path. if I remove them
or change them to English characters, It will be all fine.
Please see the test files in attached test.tar.gz. After uncompress it, use
native ie to open index.html, for example:

if css/js load success, the background color of the window will be black, text
will be white, and you will see "you should see me!" which writen by js. if
failed, you will just see black "Hello World" in a white background.

My batch file has this for loop that reads a line at a time.
FOR /F "eol=# tokens=2 delims=;" %%i in (%tasklist%) do call :%%i
It feeds everything after the semicolon to a called function that is at the
start of the line.
The full line is like this:
comment area ;xslt xsltname "param1=info1 param2=info2" blank.xml
dostuff.xslt
Windows passes exactly that to the called function xslt.
But Wine cmd does two unexpected things.
First it strips out the double quotes. But when the params are received by the
receiving function in this case :xslt then the equals are also stripped out.
Thus the received params are:
%~0 = :xslt
%~1 = xsltname
%~2 = param1
%~3 = info1
%~4 = param2
%~5 = info2
%~6 = blank.xml
%~7 = dostuff.xslt
While Windows would have the params as:
%~0 = :xslt
%~1 = xsltname
%~2 = param1=info1 param2=info2
%~3 = blank.xml
%~4 = dostuff.xslt
As it is reading a text file there is nothing I can do to pre manipulate the
text file.
I can see that striping out the equals is a good thing at times but I don't
want that here.
Is this fixable by configuration? Or is it a bug?

If you open the attached .rc file in ResEdit, you'll see that Dialog branch is
misplaced in the Resources tree. If you click on its first leaf, you'll
actually select another leaf (third in this case).
If you resize the Resources tree horizontally, it begins to render all branches
correctly.

I've tried clean prefix and I've tried clean prefix with './winetricks dotnet40
corefonts'. It fails in both cases. After installing dotnet40, I've ran
'dotnet_verifier' which told me that my .Net installation is fine.
Any ideas why it fails?
Or at least which debugging options to enable to find out more?

Proposed fix.
ReactOS ftp.exe uses gets() to get command line input. If the uses pushes
CTRL-Z then it enters an endless loop.
Wine's gets() should handle EOF on STDIN in the same way as fgets() - it should
return a string if any chars have been read into the buffer, or NULL if the
buffer is empty.
I have attached a patch with a proposed fix. I also fixed getws() while I was
at it.

acknowledges the message.
Looking at the application output, it looks like some functions from bcrypt are
not implemented.

The «good» screenshot with proper font rendering
I had not played Windows version of Civ5 under WINE for some time but recently
started it and discovered that the font in the game is completely broken and
mostly unreadable (at least Russian font).
git bisect showed me that the corruption occurred back in 2014, was introduced
in two steps by the following commits.
The first one (causes slight mostly unnoticed font breakage):

I am using Wine Staging 2.12 with a WoW64 prefix set to Windows 7 mode and when

ZIP file containing reproducible test case.
One of our test cases from Mumble [1] tests our SRV resolving code.
The test passes on Windows 10 (all I've tested), but fails on Wine (wine-1.8.5
(Ubuntu 1.8.5-1ubuntu2)).
On Wine, the test fails due to Qt's QDnsLookup failing with
QDnsLookup::ServerFailureError.
The code in Qt 5 is here:

So it seems like a call to DnsQuery_W for resolving SRV records is failing with
DNS_ERROR_RCODE_SERVER_FAILURE.

Wrong result in WINE
I'm trying to create my own Listview in report mode, using custom draw.
When I try to check does Item have a state image using LVIS_STATEIMAGEMASK,
WINE says that subItem has state image too(See attached screenshot)

image is displayed next to an item's icon to indicate an application-defined

INDEXTOSTATEIMAGEMASK macro. The state image index specifies the index of the
image in the state image list that should be drawn. The state image list is
specified with the LVM_SETIMAGELIST message.

While trying to debug bug #42554 I found that winedbg persistently refused to
give backtraces, both in the crash dialog and when started via `wine winedbg
MSBSOLAR.EXE`. The following output is given:

Tracing this back to its source, I find that ptrace seems to be returning
incorrect output:
0039: get_selector_entry( handle=002c, entry=597 )

0039: get_selector_entry() = 0 { base=00000000, limit=00000000, flags=52 }
Obviously the base should not be NULL, nor the limit 0, and the flags should be
9b (WINE_LDT_FLAGS_ALLOCATED|WINE_LDT_FLAGS_CODE). If I add traces to
libs/wine/ldt.c, nothing is modifying the entry past the point at which it is
set, so it seems like the fault lies in ptrace... an audacious claim to be
sure.
I'm almost sure this used to work correctly, but I can't figure out when. I
checked wine-2.10 and 3.0, and it was still broken then. I also checked on Arch
(well, Manjaro) just in case this was another Ubuntu-related ptrace breakage,
but it shows the same behaviour there.

Pretty much every single title using Wolf Rpg Editor as the engine zombifies
upon engine shutdown.
That is, the application window closes properly, but the app itself goes into
an infinite cycle of "err:ntdll:RtlpWaitForCriticalSection section 0x7bcea9e0
"/mnt/buildbox/builds/portage/app-emulation/wine-2.22/work/wine-2.22/dlls/ntdll/loader.c:
loader_section" wait timed out in thread 0577, blocked by 060a, retrying (60
sec)'. This is an old problem, that was present with Wolf 2.10 and still
present with 2.21. Needs to be killed via task mgr.
The warning itself is an annoyance: in my personal experience, in less than 20%
of the cases it's not a deadlock and if it is, once it pops up, it blocks
Ctrl-C from terminating such hung app.

When exit_thread is executed, nb_threads is decremented before the thread is
fully shutdown. When another thread runs ExitProcess() this will cause a
SIGQUIT
signal to all threads, effectively decrementing nb_threads twice. The process
will terminate with a wrong exitcode then because the refcount reaches zero too
early.
Currently Wine has no locking protection of LdrShutdownProcess(), so it can
only be executed safely when all other threads have terminated before. Most
likely there are more Wine bugs in this area, but the attached patch should
fix the most critical one (messed up refcounting of threads) for now.

The trace that pops up in a window after trying start Paint Shop Pro as
described above...
PSP8 CD files installs both the Paint Shop Pro 8 and the Animation Shop 3. This
is not a trial version, but a full version I have owned and used for more than
10 years now :-)
The Animation Shop runs like it used to with the exception that a small dialog
saying:
Electronic registration Register.exe program not
found. You may need to reinstall the product.
After clicking OK in this dialog Animation Shop 3 runs as normal, and the
dialog will not reappear when starting Animation Shop 3 again.
But when Paint Shop Pro 8 starts up, shows the Splash loading DLLs, show the
main window behind the splash as it is about to finish and the Crashes, I have
attached a Trace
This dialog might have something to do with Paint Shop Pro 8 failing, any
suggestions are welcome.
wine 1.6.2 which runs on Ubuntu 16.04LTS does not have these problems it runs
straight out of the box. I am sticking to 16.04LTS until this is resolved.
Trace of the crash is attached.

Every few seconds (variable, mostly < 10 seconds), the machinarium game slows
down a lot for a few seconds (also variable, often > 3 seconds), which is very
painful to play.
Graphics slow down, but not the sound or not the mouse cursor (the trails
behind the cursor do slow down though). The game is unplayable as is.
I can reproduce the bug with both wine 3.0 and 3.7. GOG version of game.

What I expected to happen is when I install and run iTunes 7.7.1.11 it would
flawlessly install and download iTunes Store podcasts.
What happened instead is that after successfully installing and starting iTunes
GUI, was in middle of downloading podcasts from iTunes Store and it just
stopped downloading. In attached CLI-output.txt it seems to be correlated with
Distnoted.exe failing to launch.

When launching iTunes 7 - 8.01 it displays an error stating that cd burning
will not be enabled due to missing registry keys. In iTunes 8.02 it states that
iTunes was improperly installed and cd burning and importing will not function.

Steps to reproduce: two options, actually:
1. Plug an iPod into your computer, and start iTunes.
2. Start iTunes without your iPod plugged in, and after it's running, plug
your iPod in.
Expected behavior: An icon with the text "Juan's iPod" would show up in the
tree view on the left side of the main window.
Actual behavior: no iPod icon.
I'm attaching a log, though these lines are especially suspicious:

I'm having a problem playing some of my steam games with choppy sound and very
slow responses.
Hardware is an intel i5 3750k overclocked to 4.2ghz, USB MS LifeChat headset.
OS is Mint 15 Olivia (64bit)
In particular the problem is manifested in GTA IV, Mass effect 2 and papers
please. PP is hardly playable with the sound stuttering and the game it's self
grinding along as if I was playing on an amiga.
At first wine was using the pulseaudio driver so I got it to switch to the alsa
driver but they both have the same effect.
I stared Papers please with these debug options :

- Set VideoMemorySize=1024 (even though my card has 2GB), and lowered texture
quality to Max (not Ultra), and was able to play though several missions
without crashing.
- Lovering texture details from Ultra to Medium seems to help delaying the
crash but not to avoid it.
- is your GPU set to Adaptive or Max Performance? SC2 has issues with dynamic
frequencies, so i switched from Adaptive to Max Performance and that seems to
have helped a lot.
i haven't crashed yet since doing it. hope it holds.

FNV crashes reproducibly when playing the ending of the "Old World Blues"

Mathetrainer is a german educational software. It installs fine on Wine, but
after starting it insists on inserting the original CD in the CD drive although
it is in the drive. A scan of the main executable with a copy protection
scanner reveals

The game crash at login screen and sometimes when joining any queue if I
succeed loggin.
These 2 crashes happens something like 19/20 times and it's nearly impossible

Captvty 3 (3.0.0.60328) can't download entirely medium or long video files.
Download got interrupted (tested under ethernet).
Short video files don't have this problem.
Symptoms are only present in Wine, not in Windows.

Captvty 2.x don't have this problem since it's using curl.exe to download video
files.
Requirements:
- Wine 1.9.19+ (because of this bug in older versions:

regression, it was already there in wine 1.9.6 when tested with winetricks
gdiplus (and Captvty version was 3.0.0.38312).
Steps to reproduce:
- visit http://v3.captvty.fr/ and download zip file ("Télécharger archive ZIP")
- unzip captvty-*.zip
- in terminal:
$ export WINEARCH=win32 WINEPREFIX=$HOME/.wine32
$ winetricks -q dotnet452
$ winecfg (choose a version newer than xp)
$ wine "/path/to/Captvty.exe"
- pick a TV channel on the left sidebar
- Choose a show that takes time to download (depending of your connection and
the server bandwidth)

In winecfg, the directories for mapping drives as well as the "Folders" (My
Pictures, etc.) are static paths.
This makes multi-user mode impractical, i.e. imagine you want to run Ms Office,
then each user on a host would have to install its own wine and install Ms
Office inside.
Why not support relative paths/tilde-based paths ?
Also, while understandable, the restriction to own the wine directory may need
to be reviewed. You might want to dissociate the user registry from that
directory and enable some dissociation.

Now with atmlib stub, Adobe Reader 6 fails to initialize it - ATMProperlyLoaded
returns 0 in Wine. This triggers error message box, closing it crashes on

Mac 10.13.4 32-bit prompt
Sorry to file a non-specific bug, but I'm wondering if the Wine community is
aware Mac OS X 10.13.4, the current version, now prompts users when running 32
bit apps?
It is likely 10.14, which should launch September of 2018, will deprecate 32
bit app support altogether.
Is there a plan to focus on 64 bit support for Wine on Mac? Many features seem
buggy or untested. There's also a fair amount of Wine documentation (perhaps
old?) that state 64 bit Wine on Mac isn't supported (eg:
https://www.winehq.org/wwn/364#Wine64%20on%20Mac%20OS%20X).

Clicking the visualisation tab displays a dialog:

Then you click OK and get another dialog

but it doesn't seem to do it properly -
maybe your display is just buggy.
You might want to try updating your display driver
to the latest WHQL driver from the chipset
manufacturer
(NVIDIA, ATI, etc)
Googling for
wine winamp "ps_2_0 warp shader"
Shows the issue going back to at least 2010
Tested on AMD Radeon Vega 8 - on wine 3.7-staging

Hello everybody,
I would like to report a problem with Icewind Dale 1 ("Classic" patchlevele
1.42 as distributed by GoG, not Beamdog EE). The Icewind Dale 1 is using the
widescreen mod. Game was perfectly playable with older wine versions, see below
for details and see also AppDB.
OS is Debian 9 (Stretch, stable) on Intel Haswell with IGP HD4400 graphics.
Wine has been upgraded to 3.6 from the packages available at winehq using
apt-get install --install-recommends winehq-devel. Game is set to 32 bit
graphics, setting it to 16 bit and using Software BLT does mot appear to make a
difference. The IWDs opengl rendering backend is always set to off in
icewind.ini and confirmed with the configuration program.
With wine 3.6 I observe severe lag in all menus as far as tested, e.g. starting
and loading a game. Screen build up is extremely slow, screen is black for
several seconds. Menu buttons update/ show a press after about 1 to 5 seconds,
also menu button clicks sounds lag. Mouse pointer lags and flickers. Actual
loading also takes minutes, I could not get beyond the end of the load screen
waiting several minutes for the game to finish loading the save, I killed it.
Starting screen movies (Black Isle animation) play fine, though.
Upon start I see in the terminal

I am reporting this against wine 3.6 as a possible regression because:
With wine 1.6: It worked without any problems in debian old-stable (jessie)
with wine 1.6 from the debian package.
With wine 1.8: I got it to work after much experimentation with debian stables
wine 1.8 package using ddr=gdi instead of ddr=opengl.
Remark: There are reports of crashes while saving when using IWDs experimental
opengl renderer backend.
I was instead observing a similar crash upon saving (clicking the Safe button,
apparently freezes when trying to render the slot selection screen) when using
wines d3d, i.e. opengl is off in icewind.ini. I see
err:d3d:init_driver_info No driver version info found for device 8086:0416,
driver model 0x2. ddr=gdi appears to change the d3d backend to something
working. This appears to have been fixed in later wine versions because:
With wine 3.0: In wine stable from winehq, i.e. 3.0, it just works with
defaults ! No ddr= settings or any fiddling required. Game is playable, no lag,
no crashes. I also see the

Tested under Wine-devel 32/64bit and wine-staging 64 bit, result is the same
under all.
The Wine-devel 32 bit prefix was completely fresh.
I tried running this in a different TTY and launched the game from there. This
got rid of the BPP fixme but it still crashed.

I run PortWoT (a wine port for World of Tanks). My keyboard is a french one and
keys & 2 and 7 are not working in the game, other default keys are ok. Running
"setxkbmap us" in the console make the keys work again.

It seems that since wine 1.7 (yes, we don't upgrade wine very often, especially
when it is working!), visual studio output is not respected anymore.
Before, when cl.exe failed and displayed an error or a warning message, we
would get the name of the error and then the location. When testing Wine 3.3,
it seems that we don't get the location and subsequent error messages anymore.
This seems to happen with VS2013 and VS2017 at least.
