This is different from bug 9406.
With the sane test backend, Irfanview still crashes when attempting to scan.
The test backend works just fine with Picasa though.
To scan, select File -> Acquire/batch scanning. You can bypass bug 9404 by
removing gphoto2.ds.so.

Wine log - WINEDEBUG="-all,+winsock"
Hello,
I am trying to play AquadelicGT game under wine for long time - the game works
fine approx. from version 1.5.8 in single player mode if msxml4.dll is replaced
by native Windows DLL (As I wrote in AppDB -
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=18692 ).
But the game is still not working in multiplayer mode - there is displayed
message box "Socket error, code=10013" and game freezes every time when I try
to start "Join multiplayer game".
First I thought it can be related to CAP_NET_RAW problem - I tried set this
capability to game EXE files - Launcher.exe and Run.exe - but this does not
help.
Then I found bug 7929 - it looks similarly like my problem, so I waited for fix
of this bug. Bug 7929 was fixed in latest release 1.5.15, so I tried it today -
but the problem is still the same.
Wine log with debug setting WINEDEBUG="-all,+winsock" is included in
attachment.
(Note: The game itself is Run.exe file - but it (probably) cannot be started
directly, it is started via Launcher.exe file.)
Best regards,
Ales

somebody asked for support regarding this sports tracking application on the

The application is not listed in the AppDB but can be downloaded from
http://sigma-data-center.com/
I used 5.4.8 version and had to do a "winetricks corefonts" to get the fonts to
show correctly but when launching the application it complains that there is a
"problem with the site. The certificate has been issued by an untrusted party."
This might not be related to wine but I thought I file the bug anyway.

When BridgeCentral 2.2.3 is logged in to a club database on the Internet, it
will be fatally hit by an "Invalid floating point operation" dialog box after
at most (and often exactly) 9 minutes of operation, i.e. 9 minutes after
opening of the main window displaying the very simple web page
http://bridge.dk/bridgecentral/nyheder/Welcome/Welcome.html . When you press
OK to the dialog box, the application is either completely confused and
unusable, or it immediately crashes with 2 more dialog boxes about Access
violation in mozjs.dll for read of an address, and the general wine "Serious
problem" box. The crash happens completely reproducibly if you just let the
application wait at the Welcome window after login and don't touch it.
"Unfortunately" (from a debugging point of view) the bug does _not_ appear when
BridgeCentral 2.2.3 uses only a local database, without any Firebird TCP
connection. So although anyone can download BridgeCentral from
http://bridgecentral.dk/ , you cannot easily reproduce the bug without being a
privileged member of a Danish DBf bridge club.

Because it's not possible to control the text color for themed checkboxes and
radiobuttons, I have implemented a kludge in my app that works on Windows, but
not WINE. I create checkboxes and radiobuttons as two widgets: the button,
with a null text string (but sized as if it contained the text so that clicking
on the text still activates the button), followed by a static text item for the
label, which I draw in black or white depending on the background color.
I process the WM_CTLCOLOR... messages, and set the background mode to
TRANSPARENT, but I return a non-null background brush. If I don't do that, the
button's focus rectangle doesn't go away when it loses focus. But since the
text is null, Windows doesn't draw anything where the text would go. My static
text control draws in the same place - resulting in what looks like a normal
check/radiobutton, but with the text in the color I want.
This works fine on Windows, and I think it used to work under WINE (but don't
quote me - this is a recent feature, and I may have never tested it under a
prior version of WINE). In version 3.2 at least, the radiobutton or checkbox
seems to be overwriting my static text control - so that I don't see the text
at all. I.e., WINE is drawing the full text rectangle, even though it contains
a null string. Either Windows only draws the rectangle for the actual 0-sized
text string, or it's order of operations allows my static text to remain
visible. But in Windows, there's no 'flashing' of the text, so I suspect the
background rectangle is being sized to the null string and the static label is
never erased and redrawn.
In WINE, when I click the radiobutton, I can see my static text label flash on
- but it is immediately overwritten by a blank text rectangle drawn by WINE.
Yes, my code is a bit of a kludge, but it works on Windows (and I know of no
other way to control the color of check/radiobutton text). It'd be nice if it
worked on WINE too, no?

I'm not sure if I can describe it properly.
The chain goes about this way:
- CreateFontIndirectEx is passed size (-22) and weight Bold
- SelectFont runs and returns a *fake_bold* font with MaxCharWidth = 24
- based upon that GetTextExtentExPoint will be called with nMaxExtent = 24
- that call will incorrectly fail (return FALSE), as artificial bold will make
the glyph 25px wide (because of get_advance_metric)
Adding 1 to max_ext in '(nfit && dx > (unsigned int)max_ext)' check makes
things relying on GetTextExtentExPoint *not* failing work, but isn't really a
proper fix...
Noticed with GetTextExtentExPointW, but (given content of the functions) most
likely could be triggered by GetTextExtentExPointI too.

I.e. SetWindowPlacement() is passed the correct position (3440,1910
corresponding to the lower right corner), and even restoring it still uses the
same correct position, but then the window is somehow moved to the wrong
position (115,87) for some reason which I don't understand.
This is just a minor irritant, of course, but I'd still like to open this bug
just in case it's also simple to fix.

This most recently happened with the Regression Testing page (bug 28575), but
I've seen it before on other pages: carriage returns are removed from
preformatted text, even if that part is not edited directly, and the
preformatted text turns into an unreadable mess. It used to be possible to
avoid this by staying in GUI mode and not previewing, but that seems to no
longer work.

Just have a look at http://wiki.winehq.org/RecentChanges, it really starts
to take quite a bit of an effort to clean Wine wiki from spam.
Apparently, spammers can't be stopped by keywords listed in the stop list
http://wiki.winehq.org/LocalBadContent, and that's another problem.
Disallowing to create wiki pages with external links is considered main and
very efficient way to stop wiki spam, there are many resources explaining how
to do that for various wiki engines.

Workarounds for the thumbnail bug, existing fresh Faststone install under Wine
1.6.2, Wine 1.7.52, Wine 2.0 in Linux Mint 17.3 and 18.3.
Symptom: Thumbnails are generated but only a few are visible.
Issue: Cannot find the image or the file name.
Workaround: Find the image/filename another way.
Workaround #1: Click on the empty spaces after the visible thumbnails. The
image shows in the PREVIEW sub-window lower left corner of the FastStone
window. Double-click on the PREVIEW sub-window for full screen, which shows the
file name as well. Not useful on large directories: see #2 below.
Workaround #2: Double-click on any visible thumbnail. The image is displayed in
full screen. Use arrow keys to find the image desired. Press ESC key. The image
will be in the PREVIEW window, ready to crop (key "x"), resize (key ctrl-R),
save (key ctrl-S).
Workaround #3: Applies to cropping and resizing an image, a usual task for
email. Find any thumbnail in the directory, click once to make it appear in the
PREVIEW sub-window lower left of the Faststone window. Press "x" to launch the
crop window. Click on the left or right arrow icon in the crop window, which
loads a new image into the crop window and also into the PREVIEW sub-window.
Proceed as in workaround #2.

The MacDriver has evolved significantly from when it was introduced and I have
no need to use the X11 window environment since quiet some time. However what
is still missing menubar integration. I don't know if this ever was planed,
however I think this is one of the most logical progression for wine on OS X.
I'm posting this now because I just came across a windows tool which does
exactly that. While there were always attempts to theme windows like OS X and
emulating the global menubar now someone found a way to do just that
(http://lee-soft.com/el-capitan-menubar-for-windows/). So as it's possible to
extract windows applications' menus it might be possible to integrate them into
OS X's menubar as GTK and Java can inject menus there, too.
While I related this "bug report" to the MacDriver and OS X it might also be
useful for Ubuntu, as it (optionally) also features a global menubar.

In the game The Witness, multisampling must be enabled in order for objects
with transparent areas, such as trees and plants, to render correctly. These
are an important aspect of the game.
Wine version 3.3, it's possible to play The Witness at full graphics quality,
as long as the 64-bit version of the game is used with the 64-bit Wine, and
multisampling is enabled.
However, in Wine version 3.4, all in-game graphics show as garbage data when
running The Witness with multisampling enabled.
Somehow, the ability to display multisampled textures correctly has disappeared
between versions 3.3 and 3.4.
This observation was made on a mobile graphics card bought in 2012, using the
open source AMD driver.

In Turok Remaster (GOG-Version) there is stuttery sound. It seems to only
occur, when there are bass-tones playing, e.g. when the pillars retract, there
are some low tones, where wine seems to have problems.
This does not occur with the bgm music only, but it does occur, when the bgm is
set to 0. So the problem definitely lies in the effect-sounds and / or their
handling.

There is also mention of a demo version in the AppDB (download link no longer

Starting The Sims 4 in stable and staging wine fails with a message about the

The system has an intel HD 6000 which is in fact explicitly supported by Sims 4
so it sounds like possibly something with how Sims 4 is checking the vendor and
device IDs does not work well and leads to incorrect conclusions.

Summary: HTML-Kit Tools trial installer produces an error
message in Win7 mode
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.41
Platform: x86-64
URL: http://www.html-kit.com/tools/download/
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: RandomAccountName(a)mail.com
Created an attachment (id=27103)
--> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=27103)
Terminal output
If the installer for the trial version of HTML-Kit Tools is run with Wine's
Windows version set to Windows 7, it produces an error dialog after creating
shortcuts:
IPropertyStore::SetValue failed, code 0x80004002
After this, the installer doesn't offer to start the program automatically, but
there appears to be no other impact on the installation. (That may not be
related to this message anyway for all I know.) This doesn't happen in
WinXP/Vista/2k mode.
This is a .NET app, but the installer doesn't seem to use it; behavior is the
same whether the .NET Framework is installed or not.

When starting Fallout 4 with Wine 3.0 RC6 I found out that the game LITERALLY

stub for srclient
Hi, a user reported failing installer on the forum:
https://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=30487
First it needs srclient, i add patch for stub dll here.
Then it still fails, it`s only happy if SRSetRestorePointA returns TRUE. This
might however cause regressions (?). I guess this needs more tests. Maybe we
could return TRUE and set nstatus to ERROR_SERVICE_DISABLED. But as said, needs
more tests

To get this far, need to workaround Bug 18070.

When using wine's gdiplus, Photoshop CS3's toolbars are completely broken (see
attached screenshot). Things are slightly better when using a version of
gdiplus from windows (see second screenshot).
While photoshop cs3 is not easy to install currently (there is a bug that
prevents the setup from installing), there are workarounds to get the setup
going so it might be time to start fixing photoshop itself.
Note: I was able to install it using "winetricks msxml6 gecko vcrun2005 ie6"

It is currently very difficult for visually impaired people who use screen
readers to install and use applications in wine. Please add a winetricks
package that installs microsoft accessibility components, installs and enables
the NVDA screen reader with speech. make it somehow so whenever say you are
visually impaired when ever you run something in wine NVDA will talk so people
can use whatever windows apps they want with the free NVDA screen reader.
thanks.

While running the application its memory usage slowly creeps up until it take
up all of the available physical memory. This appears to occur in both the 64
and 32 bit versions of the software, this eventually results in an "Out of
memory" error causing the application to crash. (Much more quickly in the
32-bit version as there's less memory available to it.)

The system menu of Final Fantasy X is showing a lot of black which even
occludes the options. If you scroll down, the font of the options gets
displayed, although the black parts stay. I am using a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660
with proprietary driver version 396.18.

Screenshot showing the issue (MSAA disabled)
In Final Fantasy X HD there are some strange transparency/occlusion issues. On
some scenes there are invisible obstacles occluding things that should be
visible. On the provided screenshot, for example, the bottom part of Tidus'
(left character) legs are cut off and Wakka's (right character) whole body
below the shoulders is missing. Additionally there are black rectangles
surrounding the pendant and other things on Tidus' clothes. Interestingly those
display errors are absent when any kind of MSAA is enabled in the graphics
options.
I am using a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 with proprietary driver version 396.18.

Ugly help
When set to 192 DPI, the help icon shown in "Descent: Levels of the World" (a
16-bit Windows app) when exiting is scaled up... oddly. Attached is what it
looks like. To me, it looks like it's the 48x48 pixel icon is being scaled up
to 64x64.
I think the quickest fix would be to include a 64x64 pixel icon variation.
