wmadec fixme's
Hi,
When running Wine 10.0.7 - from the Fedora reposity - I get the attached stub
warnings.
I don't know which component to file this under since 'wmadec' isn't in the
list, so feel free to move the ticket.
Thanks for creating Wine !
Best regards,
Jesper

Wine 10.8 console log
A suggested workaround for Bug 58280 is to try the Vulkan renderer.
Unfortunately this stops Mass Effect: Andromeda from loading at all.
A virtual desktop or using Staging 10.7, both workarounds for Bug 58279, do not
help.
Workarounds:
- arial (Bug 32342 for Steam & EA App)
Steam launches the EA App which launches the game. I tried the reverse: EA App
launches Steam which launches the game but that doesn't help and introduces Bug
56721 into the mix.
$ wine 'c:\program files (x86)\steam\steam.exe' -applaunch 1238000
I cannot find a demo to test.

Outriders, Steam version, fails to launch.
It has the option to be launched using either DX11 or DX12 mode.
With DX11 a black screen is briefly shown, then it exits.
$ wine 'c:\program files (x86)\steam/steam.exe' -applaunch 68042 -force -dx11
With DX12 a black screen is shown, some audio plays, an initial icon is shown
(a loading screen?), but then it turns black and doesn't seem to do much else.
$ wine 'c:\program files (x86)\steam/steam.exe' -applaunch 68042
The 21 GB demo (Steam account required - appID 1435990) behaves the same way.
No difference with Staging 10.7.
For reference:
The game seems to fail to install EasyAntiCheat, indeed the setup file doesn't
exist. The demo, though, installs it correctly but the result is the same. I
copied the setup from the demo anyway to rule it out (and it installs EAC). No
change.

When pulse_write is “prebuffering … frames of silence,” it uses calloc to zero
out a buffer, then immediately calls pa_stream_write.
This isn’t correct for an unsigned 8-bit (u8) stream, since the neutral value
should be 128 instead of zero. This causes noticeable clicking whenever the
sender stops or resumes playback. (For example, old games that play occasional
WAV files as sound effects.) The issue can be reproduced using Sound Recorder
from Win3.1 and an 8-bit mono WAV file. Play the same sound over and over until
it starts clicking/popping.
I’m not sure if this scenario (the end of a WAV file) should even trigger
“buffer underrun” logic at all, since it’s an intentional gap. But regardless
of the reason for the underrun, there should be a silence_buffer call there.
I tested this in Wine 8, but confirmed the logic is the same in the latest
version.

From my research for bug 58198 (basically this same bug, but 16-bit), I’d
expect this API to work in everything prior to Windows 11. In Vista and above,
you may have to do one or more of:
Run as administrator
Set uiAccess=true in the manifest
Install into a secure location
Add a digital signature
Disable UAC
In XP and earlier, it works with much less fuss.

Wine doesn’t implement WH_JOURNALPLAYBACK, which is required by the Visual
Basic SendKeys function. This makes the game “Mordor: The Depths of Dejenol”
unplayable after entering the dungeon.
I’ve confirmed with 32-bit Wine 8 and 16-bit VB3, but the logic seems unchanged
in more recent Wine (and VB) versions. Microsoft eventually released a VB6
runtime that reimplemented SendKeys using SendInput instead of
WH_JOURNALPLAYBACK, but that only fixes VB6 binaries.
https://archives.miloush.net/michkap/archive/2007/09/10/4850360.htmlhttps://web.archive.org/web/20130615064311/http://blogs.msdn.com/b/michkap/…
The story gets worse for programs that invoke DoEvents after SendKeys. Since
DoEvents “first clears all pending keystrokes from the SendKeys function,” it
enters an endless loop waiting for PeekMessage to return the expected
WH_JOURNALPLAYBACK messages. CPU usage goes to 100%, and it’s easy to run out
of stack space if DoEvents is invoked repeatedly.
https://nolongerset.com/how-doevents-works/
Thankfully, running with WINEDEBUG=warn emits a clear message,
“SetWindowsHookEx16 hook type 1 broken in Win16” pointing us to
https://gitlab.winehq.org/wine/wine/-/blob/master/dlls/user.exe16/hook.c
This game is particularly creative, using SendKeys as some sort of input
filter. Many keyboard and mouse inputs are apparently translated to SendKeys
calls. I don’t fully understand the logic, except that the game is unplayable
without it.
I can’t say whether it’s worth fixing this or not. At the very least, it’s
helpful to know why this game doesn’t work, without having to keep trying each
new Wine release.

Summary: Ableton Live: multicore audio processing causes high
CPU usage across multiple audio backends
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Hardware: x86-64
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
Reporter: sirwinstoncat5(a)gmail.com

When running Ableton Live, if multicore audio processing is enabled, CPU usage
will drastically increase, causing unpredictable audio crackles and overall
unstable performance.
The easiest way to test this is using Ableton Live 9; Live 10 also has the same
issue, but multicore audio processing is permanently turned on.
- Open an empty Live Set. (By default, this has 4 empty tracks, a reverb
effect, and a delay effect: a negligible amount of audio processing.)
- In Ableton's preferences, under the CPU tab, disable multicore audio
processing. Observe the built-in CPU meter in the upper-right corner; it should
sit very low (0-1% on my system).
- Enable multicore audio processing. Even with an empty Set, observe that the
CPU meter jumps to at least 10-20%. On Windows, idle CPU usage should remain
identical between single and multicore modes.
- Attempt playback of a nontrivial Set; for example, a few tracks of recorded
audio. A Set that plays back fine in single-core mode will exhibit
unpredictable audio crackling and rapid spikes in CPU usage when using
multicore mode.
I have tested this across multiple versions of Ableton (various versions of 9
and 10 both exhibit this issue), multiple audio interfaces from various
manufacturers (Behringer X32, NI Audio Kontrol 1, onboard chipset audio,
PreSonus FireStudio), and even multiple audio backends (winepulse,
wineasio->JACK). The issue seems to be most pronounced when using pulseaudio,
but it is present across all audio backends.
Most importantly, this issue can be duplicated using wineasio and a JACK server
with the dummy backend (aka not connected to any audio interface).
I am unsure where to start collecting logs for this. One guess: perhaps there
is some sort of delay or sleep occuring while a mutex is being held?
This is possibly related to #47458; however, that specifically refers to a test
case for PulseAudio, whereas this bug occurs across backends.

Searching the quoted string on the web shows that it's related to Chrome [1],
thus Chrome Embedded Framework too (libCEF).
The constant flow of messages fills the HD with several MB after a few hours.
It may be an application bug, but I can't compare to Windows because there is
no output at all when running steam from the Windows command prompt.

MusicBee has a feature to continuously monitor the library's directory for any
new files that have ended up in the library. On Windows, this is pretty
reliable both on native NTFS as well as network drives via SMB. On Linux,
however, only the native drive seems to be reliable.
With my SMB drive mounted via Linux's CIFS driver, even though performance is
good on WINE's built-in file picker as well as KDE Dolphin, the continuous
monitor on MusicBee seems to be lacking in performance in comparison to native
on Linux and the network drive on Windows. Having 10 albums being scanned and
imported into the inbox can take up to 2 minutes if at all (MusicBee will
sometimes work, but most times not, you have to restart it to get it to see the
files where you don't need to on Windows), while it's basically instant on
Windows.
Also, sometimes MusicBee's monitor will immediately import the tracks, then
think the tracks are gone. Doesn't seem to happen with native drives on Linux,
neither does it happen with MusicBee on an SMB setup in Windows.
OS is Bazzite 42, WINE Staging 10.4 layered on top, MusicBee version 3.6.9202.

Recently, LTSpice has become impossible to install because it stops with the

Starting Steam and going to the menu bar -> Steam and moving the mouse cursor
over the entry "Check for Steam Client Updates..." and then stopping the mouse
results that the mouse cursor is showing the I symbol (the cursor symbol that
for example also appears if moving the mouse cursor over a text area). Moving
the mouse shows the normal mouse cursor again but stopping the mouse on the
entry again shows the I symbol again. A workaround seems to be to close the
menu and reopening it.

When you drag-drop a color MuLab starts a modal event loop and polls the
PeekMessage + GetMessage functions for mouse move and mouse click events. When
the mouse moves over different windows this should deliver mouse move events
with the respective window handle of the window under the mouse. If there are
several floating windows then Wine doesn't deliver such events, which is odd.

Changing shader_backend made no difference.

At this point I threw the whole of d3dx9 at it but I keep getting

There should be no memory issues (it works in Windows 10, but better in Windows

FUN FACT: Running with WINEDEBUG=fixme-d3d changes the pink bits to black bits.

The Command & Conquer 3 Demo (and Kane's Wrath full game) exits silently if
alt-tabbing out of the game, then back in.
Using a virtual desktop (of any size) stops this occurring. The game itself
"escapes" the virtual desktop and runs in full screen, but this turns out to be
a good thing.
My process:
1. Install demo (used WINEARCH=win32 but that's not necessary).
2. Set resolution to 1920x1200.
3. Start a skirmish.
4. Alt-tab out.
5. Alt-tab back in.

current wrapping. For example: under Win toolbar with initial size (0,0) and 2
buttons (20,20) TB_GETMAXSIZE always returns(40,20), WINE returns (20,40) - 2
rows wrapping.

In some programs, attempting to open certain dialogs causes the program to
freeze without responding. This behavior can be observed in the most recent
version of 0CC-Famitracker, found here: http://hertzdevil.info/programs/
Attempting to open the configuration dialog (marked by a hammer in the top bar)
will cause the program to hang. The program will also hang when attempting to
modify any new instrument.
Is there some bug with Wine dispatching Windows dialogs? This program is
developed in Visual Studio 2015.
http://prntscr.com/ao0x5n
This screenshot depicts the button which will cause the hang. The program will
continue to produce sound and the oscilloscope will continue to move as well,
but the rest of the program will freeze.

Wine vs WinXP
There are at least 3 missing control buttons in Cyberboard Player. Attachment
shows that better. I tried many wine versions since 0.9.49 till
1.2-rc3, but it probably never worked correctly.
To reproduce: "File" -> "Open" -> "GenericGame.gam"
I left this in UNCONFIRMED, but someones confirmation is welcomed ;)

0CC-FamiTracker 0.3.14.5 (http://hertzdevil.info/programs/0CCft_v0314r5.7z )
and my j0CC fork
(https://github.com/jimbo1qaz/j0CC-FamiTracker/releases/download/j0.6.0a/j0C…
) crash after saving.
Confirmed on multiple machines including Ubuntu with 3.14 and 3.15, and a
Debian x64 VM with a .wine created under Debian version, and upgraded to 3.0.2.
Instructions:
- Open 0CC (and optionally open an existing file.
- Press Space (to enable editing) and mash the keyboard a bit to enter notes.
- Press Ctrl+S and specify a filename.
- Mash a few keys and press Ctrl+S a few times.
At this point 0CC will usually crash with an assertion error in CString, often
with a backtrace consisting of a single entry of 0x0. One time I got a
backtrace pointing to MFC UI code.
------------
I think this is a memory corruption issue arising from calling
`AfxFormatString1(text, IDS_FILE_SAVED, text);` with the same input and output
=
https://github.com/HertzDevil/0CC-FamiTracker/blob/v0.3.14.5/Source/FamiTra…
But it doesn't crash on Windows. Is that a program bug or Wine bug?
- I think MFC is statically linked.
I thought it was a regression from some unknown earlier revision, but I
installed a Debian Stretch 64 VM, `apt-get install wine wine32`
(https://packages.debian.org/stretch/wine = 1.8.7-2), and `wine
0CC-FamiTracker.exe` experiences the same issue. Maybe the crash doesn't
manifest on Wine 32? IDK.
-----------
The code in question has been removed from 0CC, and I will be including a
workaround (don't call AfxFormatString1(out=in)) into j0CC soon.

When running applications through Wine using the native Wayland driver,
windowed applications are not receiving proper window decorations (e.g.,
titlebars, borders) from the system window manager. Instead, Wine's default,
minimal, and visually unappealing decorations are displayed.
I have enabled option "Allow the window manager to decorate the windows" in
winecfg and it's working fine on Xwayland. But this option does not appear to
have any effect under native Wayland.

This seems similar to bug 21665, but is not the same bug (as it has been fixed
long ago)
When using "open from" to load a file in Heavy Metal, the program will page
fault as soon as the "open" button is pressed. Similarily, it will page fault
when using "save to" most of the time. That makes it impossible to use these
functions.
It doesn't appear to be a regression (I have witnessed this on all versions
from 1.3.7 to 1.7.9).
Using native comctl32.dll solves the crashing. The native DLL used in my
testing has the MD5 2f0680d0ac7b37cd5f3b118024ad0f0d.

Wine's listview control sends LVN_ITEMCHANGED notifications as items are
updated. For example, when changing the selected item, it sends a notification
that the old item was deselected, and then sends a notification that the new
item has been selected. If an application queries the current selection during
the first notification, it will appear that no items are selected. This is
different from how Windows behaves, which appears to send notifications only
after updating all item states.
This breaks the Ancestral Quest program's Changelog feature, though this
requires the program to be purchased. It shouldn't be too hard to write tests
demonstrating this, either.

Start the app. You'll see a tree control on the left

(Also, the app outputs

on startup. I think that's associated with ado15, but
doing winetricks art2kmin doesn't seem to help that...? ADO has
always been a mystery to me. But that's a different bug.)

"smackw32.DLL" failed to initialize. This is a Windows 95 game demo
I tried setting the Windows Version to Windows 10, Windows 95, and Windows 98

macOS Terminal log, wine-devel 10.7
On macOS, there is a bug (https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=58145) that
can be worked around with a DXVK DLL override (for d3d11.dll) in Wine-devel
10.6 and lower, but this workaround stops working in Wine-devel 10.7 (also
tested not working in 10.8)
repost of my comment from that previous bug:
regression in wine-devel 10.7 - DXVK DLL workaround stops working
There's new regression in wine-devel 10.7: now the DXVK DLL override workaround
doesn't work, the app always gives the original error pop-up window with the
same message.
Attached is the macOS Terminal log after copying Gcenx's 32-bit `d3d11.dll`
from his DXVK-macOS package to the same directory as the OutOfCtrl.exe
executable. When tested with wine-devel 10.6, it still works.
> % cp /Users/toastybug/dxvk-macOS/x32/d3d11.dll /Users/toastybug/Windows_Apps/OutOfCtrl_v1_2_EXE/

again. This continues in a cycle until I use "wineserver -k" to exit. The
backtrace saved from this has been attached. I am able to use the Settings

username/password, but I cannot go any farther than that because there is no
submit button and it doesn't seem to want to load.
Be aware that I had previously been loading Starcraft II directly using the

I'm needing to get into the Battle.net app. Not sure if not using the app is a
side effect. For the heck of it, I tried running the setup to update
Battle.net, and the same thing occurred.

Hi guys.
I'm trying to use Yousician on Linux and it works amazingly well, maybe even
smoother than on W11, but there is one small problem: It's impossible to
preform latency calibration as the app is checking global system volume, if
it's too high, it disallows calibration to prevent hearing damage if the sounds
it produces are too loud.
On wine and wine-staging the volume in Yousician is always 100%. I use
pipewire-pulse backend and plasma-pa, I'm changing volume from plasma settings
or alsamixer, or pulsemixer but it stays 100% in Yousician.
Hope there's an easy fix for it :).
Regards,
W.

Display enumeration in winewayland driver.
Enumeration of displays in winewayland driver differs from winex11 and doesn't
even follow order of reported wl_outputs.
I have 3 displays: with middle one (1440p, primary) being the first display. My
other displays are 1080p. In winex11 it's indeed the first, and it also
reported as first wl_output by my compositor (KWin). But winewayland driver
reports it the second and the leftmost display reported as the first.
It causes problem in old games that don't have display selection and enumerate
video modes only for primary (first) display, so I can't get resolution higher
than 1080p on my 1440p display that is supposed to be primary.
Although we don't have a way to determine primary screen on Wayland we can at
least follow order of reported wl_outputs. Here is what my compositor is
reporting and it doesn't correlate with order of winewayland driver.

Treeview unduly handles WM_SYSKEYDOWN
Refer to treeview.c
case WM_KEYDOWN:
case WM_SYSKEYDOWN:
return TREEVIEW_KeyDown(infoPtr, wParam);
No such processing on Listview :
case WM_KEYDOWN:
return LISTVIEW_KeyDown(infoPtr, (INT)wParam, (LONG)lParam);
As a consequence, WM_SYSKEYDOWN not correctly passed to parent Wnd if focus is
on a Treeview control.
Proof of concept : Use ReactOS. Open Regedit or Event Viewer. Put focus on
treeview. Alt+F4 does nothing (WM_SYSKEYDOWN "stuck" at Treeview component
level)
Suggested patch :
change
case WM_KEYDOWN:
case WM_SYSKEYDOWN:
return TREEVIEW_KeyDown(infoPtr, wParam);
into
case WM_KEYDOWN:
return TREEVIEW_KeyDown(infoPtr, wParam);
as no reason to handle WM_SYSKEYDOWN at component level.

So if you were to download the official Qt for Windows installer (located at
https://download.qt.io/official_releases/online_installers/qt-online-instal…
), it would start the program but nothing would show up.
Before, it should show an error message:
err:winediag:SECUR32_initNTLMSP ntlm_auth was not found or is outdated. Make
sure that ntlm_auth >= 3.0.25 is in your path. Usually, you can find it in the
winbind package of your distribution.
So I installed winbind and libntlm0 and now the error does not show up anymore
but the installer still doesn't show any window. It maxes out a single thread
and stays like that forever.

The allocator has a lot of custom behaviour that is very visible in how it

Naturally this has the benefit of writing directly into the mapped

Tracefile with winedebug=keyboard, key showing "/" not working
When running Wine applications using the Wayland driver, certain keys on the
Brazilian ABNT2 keyboard (such as the slash /, question mark ?, and other
special characters) do not function correctly. These keys either generate no
character.
In contrast, when using the X11 driver (wine X11), the same keys function as
expected, and the correct characters are produced. Upon inspection, the scan
codes received under Wayland are extended (e.g., 0x259 instead of 0x59 for the
slash key), which seems to lead to incorrect mapping or interpretation by Wine.
This issue appears to stem from incomplete or incorrect handling of extended
scan codes or keyboard layout mapping for the br-abnt2 layout in the Wayland
input.
In my tests, I forced the correct scan code for the slash key (0x59), and after
this adjustment, the key started working properly again.
I have attached a trace log file showing the key input events during the
failure. Although I am currently using a modified version of Wine to generate
this trace, the problem also occurs on the stable Wine release. (It's late and
I'm not going to redo the test just to have a clean trace file. Sorry.)

I am trying to use wine in wayland mode by unsetting DISPLAY. I know that it is
still experimental, but on most of my systems works well enough and gives me
much better scaling on HiDPI.
There is one exception I have a tablet/convertible where "by default" the
screen is vertical. So to use it as a laptop, I need to use screen rotation.
With screen rotation, wayland mode in wine breaks badly.
I think that the issue is that wine starts swapping screen height and width.
Let me give you an example. I am trying to run "LTspice" under wine. If I keep
the window "small" and on the left part of the screen, everything is fine. If I
maximize the window, things break on the right part of the window (the one
exceeding the boundary where the x coordinate is equal to the screen height,
namely the width of the unrotated screen). Furthermore, if I try to resize the
window by dragging the right border, I cannot go beyond that boundary.
I hope that this explanation is clear enough.

I noticed that if I use a german keyboard layout, the key mapping seems to be
off. I'm using kwin_wayland (but also tested on sway, same result).
The regular lower keys are ok, but example, ö produces ü, # produces ä, etc.
Looking at dlls/winewayland.drv/wayland_keyboard.c, I saw that there are
different lookup tables for different languages (scan2vk_qwerty,
scan2vk_azerty. scan2vk_qwertz, ...), so my first quess was that something
might be switched there.
But that doesn't really seem the case, changing it to always use
`scan2vk_qwertz ` regardless of `lang` makes it work.
I don't really have a very good understanding of how this is supposed to work,
but does the appliaction really need to do such a translation? Isn't that
already handled by the layout being passed in? At least that would explain why
it works when doing no such lookup at all.

once an email account get added and the first few emails get downloaded freezes
the em client application.
There are reports in your database which state that em client 8 reached the

ddraw_test_llvm-ceilf-ceil-recursion.txt
Hello, trying to look at a failure of test ddraw:ddraw4
I just found an issue with my build.
The issue is a recursive call to ceilf.
This affects just the 32-bit build, where it looks like ceilf is just
an inline wrapper in the header file for the function ceil.
But for some reason llvm-mingw/clang replaces the call to ceil by ceilf,
therefore causing the recursion.
Adding `EXTRADEFS = -fno-builtin` to dlls/ddraw/tests/Makefile.in
fixes this issue for here.
Or is this caused by me using the `{i686,186_64}-w64-mingw32-gcc`
wrappers instead of the clang binary?
Can someone else confirm this?
Is this an issue that should be fixed in wine,
or is there something wrong in llvm-mingw/llvm-project,
or I am just using an unsupported way to configure?

This problem can be noticed if one tries to use LTSpice [1], places a Capacitor
in the schematic, right clicks on it and then on "Select Capacitor".
The window that opens has a blank space where the header is supposed to be,
resizing the windows makes the header appear and clicking on the headers
themselves makes them appear for a brief instant.

Summary: Teraterm 5.4.0 / Serial communication not functional
Product: Wine

Hardware: x86-64

Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org

tested with wine 10.5-staging
When data is sent to serial port that is opened with TeraTerm, GUI becomes very
sluggish and data received is not shown on the terminal.
When data sending is stopped. Received data is shown and GUI responsivenes
becomes normal.
This behavior seems very similar that is described in bug(s): 57246 and 50591.
Download link:
https://github.com/TeraTermProject/teraterm/releases
Side note:
Wine registry do not have serial port friendly name information.
Teraterm needs to be started with command line parameter which defines port:
wine ttermpro.exe /C=2
