When playing a movie, it doesn't take up the while movie portion of the screen.
The video I tested is found by going to Bibles -> New World Translation (Study
Edition) (nwtsty) -> Matthew -> Introduction to Matthew and then clicking the
movie icon at the top.

Program Error Details
Hi there,
I'm trying to run MTG Arena on my Ubuntu 19.10 using Wine 5.0. The program
wouldn't even open at first; after installing .net framework 4.7.2 the program
launches but is immediately closed and I am prompted with a program error
window telling me to send a report to winehq.
Please let me know what to do.

On Fedora 37 with wine 8.4 and applying the workaround from
https://dl.winehq.org/wine/wine-mono/7.4.0/wine-mono-7.4.0-x86.msi I am able to
install and run the game.

Can install game using 32bit windows 95 prefix. Game runs intro video and gets
to the main menu. When selecting a mission and pressing launch the game just
closes.
Only place i can see a download is on an abandonware site (I wont link to it
but its easy to find). This relates to the windows version not the dos version
This has been a problem with wine for years and this game is next to impossible
to get running on windows after windows 7.

This is a long standing issue. To run Altium Designer with wine, you have to
install dotnet40 with winetricks, to solve this error:

According to GUID Finder, that is the IGCHost interface. Whatever it is.

Test case
It doesn't look possible to write a whitespace character after writing a full
end element with WriteFullEndElement. It looks to me like this should be
possible just like it is possible with WriteEndElement.
I have also noticed that native xmllite sometimes breaks(not sure whether this
is a feature or a bug) but at times native xmllite doesn't write new lines
after writing the elements. I'm not sure how exactly this happens but the
possible work-around in this is to manually write new lines(with
WriteWhitespace) which means this issue could easily break working code.
I'm not sure how to fix this right away so I am submitting a bug. As can be
seen in the attached diff, wine doesn't pass the test but native does.

quartz:systemclock - test_advise() sometimes gets an unexpected even in Wine:

This mostly happens on the GitLab CI but it did happen once in the nightly
WineTest runs:
* 2022-11-15 on test-linux-32 for MR!1370
* 2022-12-14 on fg-deb64-t32
* 2022-12-19 on test-linux-32 for MR!1846
* 2023-03-28 on test-linux-32 for MR!2483
* 2023-04-05 on test-linux-32 for MR!2588
The GitLab CI and fg-* test configurations are the most likely to be busy with
other tasks while the tests are running so it is likely a timing issue caused
by having too much load on the system running the test.
It should be noted that this never happened on Windows though, particularly not
on the fgtb-w10pro64 VM which has the same host as the fg-* test
configurations. So this seems to be a Wine issue.

Output of wine running the application
IK Product Manger (https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/productmanager/)
(Version 1.05) should be able to download and install VST plugins from IK
Multimedia, however upon clicking the install button for any plugin, the
application will hang and become unresponsive. I know this is superficially
similar to my previous bug report on the same application basically the same
problem (https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50643), however, the
particular bug I was reporting then seems to have been fixed as the log file I
have attached does not contain the same error anymore.
I created a fresh prefix (64-bit) for this and am running Wine 8.5 (Staging).
I'm on Arch Linux 64-bit and my kernel version is Linux 6.2.8-2.
My hardware is as follows: Thinkpad X13 Yoga, Intel Core i5-10310U with Intel
integrated graphics.

In a typical distribution autobuilder environment, all builds will be run in a
chroot or container, usually on server-class hardware or in a virtual machine.
This means tests that just do computation (such as shader compilation) should
still succeed, but tests that want to access a real GPU will find that either
there is no VkDevice at all, or there is a VkDevice but it's only software
rendering (lavapipe).
It seems like vkd3d already has some partial handling for this:
run_shader_tests_vulkan() skips itself if a VkDevice cannot be created.
However, run_shader_tests_d3d12() still tries to run, and crashes when it can't
create a Vulkan instance, for example:

The GetAdaptersInfo function is not returning the same information on wine vs
windows. I've tried this with stable wine 8 and wine 8.4 staging.
We have an old program that is calling this function to get the mac address of
the system for license key purposes. When run via wine the last pair of digits
in the mac address are missing - and thus the software can't be registered or
run.
There is likely a byte offset missing, causing the last 2 bytes to be dropped?
Example:
System has mac address 82-5E-F4-3b-b6-66 - can see this ok via "wine ipconfig
/all"
However the legacy program when executed only sees address "82-5E-F4-3B-B6-".

1. Run `winetricks dotnet452`
2. Run `wine LEX.msi`
3. Run `docker run --detach --env LDAP_TLS_VERIFY_CLIENT=never -p636:636
osixia/openldap`
4. Run `wine 'C:\Program Files (x86)\CerroTorre\LEX\LEX.exe'`
5. Wait for the splash screen to close, or move the "LDAP Connections" window
out from under it
6. On the "Advanced" tab, check "Ignore server certificate errors"
7. On the "Server" tab, enter "localhost" for the server and check "SSL
connect" (the port will automatically change from 389 to 636)
8. On the "Server" tab, click "Fetch"
At this point, an "Unhandled exception" dialog appears that says "The feature
is not supported." Furthermore, the program crashes if you click the Quit
button on the dialog, but since the dialog shouldn't appear in the first place,
it's understandable that it doesn't function correctly.
The relevant part of the terminal output is:

1.0.1.1 version of the game from gog.com. After Alt-Tabbing or switching to
another desktop workspace I can't get back into the game. Starting missions
gets stuck in the same way.
According to setup manual here
https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=20703 I've set
d3d10 to "Disabled", replaced dxdiagn with native and set it to "Native" in
winecfg - so the game uses DX9.
Log with WINEDEBUG=+d3d9 is attached. It turned out to be 10Mb, so I gzipped
it.

Steps to reproduce:

After verifying that bug 23884 seems fixed, I tried running the game
after doing 'winetricks alldlls=builtin'.

Mass Effect 1 Log with dxvk
I have tried to run the first Mass Effect Game from Steam with dxvk. As it can
be seen in the attached log, it fails with the message "227:11: E5005: Function
"sqrt" is not defined.". From what i can see, the hlsl part of vkd3d defines
some intrinsic functions (abs, clamp, min, max, ...), where the sqrt function
is searched for, maybe it is just a missing feature? The game works well when
disabling dxvk and running it in opengl mode.

Since upgrading my ArchLinux system, the upgrade of libx11 from 1.8.1 to 1.8.2
breaks my bepo layout and some key are not detected in a weird way.
Restarting Guild Wars 2 game after libx11 upgrade just change "randomly" some
assigned key, from `É` to `=` and from `È` to `É`. Trying to reassign keys
doesn't work, `É` can be assign to previous skill, but `È` key just doesn't
work at all, it's no more detected as a valid input in skill selection windows.
But this `È` key works perfectly if used on an input text field like the ingame
chat.
Downgrading to 1.8.1 and restarting the game fix the trouble.
Behaviour seen at least in lutris-7.2.2 and lutris-ge-proton 7.34.
Don't know if this is related or not, but currently bepo layout is badly
managed by wine and i try to add support for it in

create something really good.

Audio is not playing correctly in Die by the Sword (GoG.com version here). Some
scratching, stuttering sound is coming from the speakers during audio/music
playback. In the tutorial the voice-over of the narrator is also distorted by
the same artefacts.
Player taunts and NPC sounds are OK, though.
The same problem with Wine-1.0.1, too.
I can't reproduce the problem in the demo.
None of the followings helped:
- Alsa with 'emulation'
- winetricks dsoundbug9612
- changing 'defaults.pcm.dmix.rate' to '44100' in /usr/share/alsa/alsa.conf
The resampler patchset (bug #14717) reduced the intensity of the sound
artefacts considerably but they are still audible.
Terminal output is basically the same what I attached in bug #27814. The only
relevant lines are:

This bug is about Smile Game Builder - a game engine.
As a testcase 「虚毒ノ夢」 will be used - a (it seems - I don't actually know
Japanese) freeware game available from

Problem 1.
As you might notice, the window title is purely mojibake.
CreateWindowEx expects CP_ACP string in cs->lpszName, but it's getting an utf8
one.
That's pretty much sums up what I could figure out about this part.
Problem 2.
This one is more tricky to notice; also, I couldn't figure out much about it,
so just describing symptoms.
Some of the strings printed on the screen (AFAICT neither by gdi, gdiplus nor
user32 standard text functions) are read from memory then written on the screen
past their actual length. What's more, they flicker - that is if such string is
printed, some of the time its extra part changes upon redraw.
As far as I understand mono (which, granted, isn't all that much), it would
suggest that upon string object creation its length is set incorrectly.
In the example game, you can observe it with a few strings as you start a new
game, then once you get control, if you walk to the closet (not the bookcase)
and interact with it, it's another such string.

Used 32bit installer and 64bit installer with version 7.6.3, both can crash the
same way.

"Find All in All Opened Documents"
* With change.log file, 3 results will be displayed in the "Find result" footer
box (don't if it's the right name)
* Search box will close automatically if there are matches
* Search -> Find... (again)
Application crashes
It seems that if you first search does not find any result and you close the
search box manually, then next searches won't crash even if you have matches.
It looks like if the the first time you search and search ox close
automatically then it will crash.

All the tests fail when run on their own in a clean wineprefix except
reg.exe:delete. That test's failures are actually caused by reg.exe:add. So to

This was tested with the GOG.com version.
Performing a quicksave works properly in the game, but using the hotkey (<F12>
by default) to load a quick saved game results in a crash. Interestingly, using
the game menu to load a quick save works, it's only when I use the hotkey for
quickloading that Wine crashes.
The demo version doesn't have the quicksave/quickload feature.

In the "ldapsearch" command line tool, "-X" is the authorization user and "-U"
is the authentication user. For a server using LDAP_AUTH_NEGOTIATE, it must
have the authentication user - supplying only the authorization user always
fails:

way. If I change it to supply the username to SASL_CB_AUTHNAME (like "-U"),
login succeeds.

below, in the desktop you see 3 open windows but no entries in the KDE system

When starting Battle.net the launch fails with error:
This application failed to start because it could not find or load the Qt
platform plugin "windows" in "".
A fix is to go into the subdirectory with the latest version number of
Battle.net (Battle.net.13960 in my case), go to the platform directory and run
$ setfattr -x user.DOSATTRIB qwindows.dll
The bug exists for me since beginning of January.

Tested with wine 6.3 & notepad++ version 7.9.3 (32-bit)
When using the Find in files feature in notepadd++ & starting the search ,
notepad++ locks the interaction with all windows except for the find in files
progressbar window that contains a cancel button , if you switch to other app
then return back to notepad++ using its taskbar icon , only the locked windows
appear which you can't interact with unless the search finishes or accessing
the progressbar window by alt+tab
it could be related to bug #26087 , but that bug is closed

The assertion always happens after the same trace so it is likely caused by
this test_resource_access() line:

The window circled by the red box in "Image 1" does not pop up properly.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Because this is a historical meeting window, you need to have joined a zoom
meeting in advance. zoom meetings can be applied for free on their website.
2. After joining the meeting and leaving the meeting, an arrow will appear
where you enter the meeting number, click the arrow to bring up the window and
trigger the bug.

Some of my research, when the problem pop-up window received the message
clientmessage, but the window style is 86000000, not the problem is 96000000, I
think this can be used as an entry point to fix the bug.

Install Outrun 2006 and run the Config.exe, under Video settings you can choose
anti aliasing settings up to 6 but in Wine only up to 2 is shown. If the anti
aliasing level is changed in outrun2006.ini the value will be blank in the anti
aliasing drop-down menu. Happens both on development and staging 5.21 and back
to Wine 5.0.

Notes:
* There are really 5 places where this happens.
* It always happens after a IDirectDraw_CreateSurface() call, except for the
test_ddsd() (line 2232) cases where it follows a IDirectDrawSurface7_Lock()
call.
* The failure dates look somewhat similar to the ddraw:ddrawmodes E_OUTOFMEMORY
failures but not exactly and the VMs mostly don't match. So the ddrawmodes
failures are not the cause of the dsurface ones. But there may be some common
factor making these failures more likely.

width can be 0x7ffffff, bpp can be 32.
width*bpp is then 0xffffffe0 which looks at first glance like no overflow
happened, but the type is still int, i.e. signed 32-bit, i.e. max value is
0x7fffffff (8 digits), max bpp to trigger that would be 16 not 32.
We are right-shifting afterwards, so we ought to be fine? Nope, because we are
operating on signed ints, so it's an arithmetic right shift, not a logical one.
The & does not remove the sign bit. So what happens here is that get_dib_stride
can return a negative value.
OK but NtGdiCreateBitmap checks for overflow and will notice something is
wrong.
Not really. If width=height=0x7ffffff and bpp=32 then get_dib_stride=-4.
Then size is -4*0x7ffffff promoted to size_t, or 0xe0000004.
The overflow check does this:

size/0x7ffffff is 0xfffffffc.
dib_stride is -4, promoted to size_t for the comparison is also 0xfffffffc.
Also: On the way we had undefined behavior. The compiler would be allowed to do
all kinds of nasty things.

schedsvc:atsvcapi & schedsvc:rpcapi crash on a fresh wineprefix.
The issue is the same for both tests so I'll focus on the latter:

skipped.
What really happens is that the call to SchRpcHighestVersion() crashes even
before reaching the TRACE() statement. And schedsvc:rpcapi interprets that as
being unable to connect to the scheduler service.
Running schedsvc:rpcapi multiple times does not help. However if one runs
taskschd:scheduler once in that wineprefix, then there is no problem:

In particular this means that when submitting a TestBot job for these tests,
they systematically skip which prevents detecting failures.
(For merge requests there is one 32-bit only full WineTest run which would
catch at least some regressions.)

Error output from when app crashes
Sid Meier's Civilization 4 Colonization (from the complete edition, not the
standalone) crashes when user attempts to load a saved game in Wine. Issue does
not effect Civ 4 nor its expansions, from the complete edition.
Note: game is being played from a complete install, without DVD-ROM (if that
makes any difference)

Difference between odbc and proxyodbc.
Expected behaviour:
Calling proxyodbc SQLGetInfoW with null InfoValue should fill StringLength with
total bytes to be written. This allows to create appropriate size buffer on
second call.
Current behaviour:
proxyodbc SQLGetInfoW logs warning "Unexpected NULL InfoValue address" and
returns SQL_ERROR without returning bytes to be written.

Hi,
This time, i used Wine unpatched :-D
The game crashes at the same place with OpenGL/Vulkan renderer.

Console output. Starting the fixture editor in line 31
Installing worked fine after installing two verbs with winetricks (vb6run and
mfc42).
Starting all bundled applications also works as expected.
However, as soon as I select a fixture (folder opening also no problem), the
Fixture Editor hangs and eventually opens a small, all-black dialog and exits
when I close that. The same happens in the main application (FreeStyler) when
clicking on Setup in the menu, and then on Add/Remove fixtures
In the console output (full output attached), the following lines are repeated:

How to reproduce:
1) Open AIMP3 with wine (for example AIMP v3.60 build 1503).
2) Play some music.
3) Open system monitor that allows to monitor RAM usage.
4) Every 1-2 seconds AIMP will take 1-2 mb of your RAM and it wont stop.
5) After several hours it will take 6-8 GB of RAM.
I never saw this behaviour on windows and I could not to reproduce this bug in
AIMP2.
I used system wine (7.16) and wine in Lutris (lutris 7.2-2) - memory leak
appears in both.

This is followup of Bug #53565
Noticed in postgresql 9.3.25-1 installer. When starting the installer, a script
called prerun_checks is executed. There is issue executing following line
Temp_Path = strSystemRoot & "\" & fso.GetTempName() & ".vbs"
".vbs" is not attached to Temp_Path, because GetTempName returns wrong BSTR
length.

This bug is very easy to reproduce.
Run WinSCP and open a session to any host. Open any long enough file
(text/html/whatever), hit Find (Ctrl + F) and try to find something at least on
the second page of the open document.
The cursor will jump, however the screen will remain on the first page. In
order to really jump to this position, you have to close the Find dialog (e.g.
hit "Escape") and press "Up" and "Down" which is terribly inconvenient.

Call DeviceIoControl() with an invalid handle a lot and measure how long it
takes
I'm running some nonpublic proprietary application that I don't have the source
code for in Wine (I attached a simple testprogram though).
I noticed severe performance problems (compared with native Windows) and
profiling it in perf (is there a better way?) showed a lot of useless memory
addresses and also NtDeviceIoControlFile().
I figured out that the application calls DeviceIoControl() *a lot*, and after
hooking that function and replacing it with a stub that basically just returns
FALSE the application's performance was a lot better (good enough for my
purposes).
Being the curious type, I added some logging to my stub and realized that the
handle that gets passed is 0xFFFFFFFF (INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE) - even on Windows!
Specifically, I saw:
hDevice: 0xFFFFFFFF code: 0x80010021 inBufSize: 4 outBufSize: 4 overlapped: 0x0
Reimplementing DeviceIoControl() (based on Wine Source) in my (former) stub and
adding some time measurements showed that in this specific case (calling it
with an invalid handle) the called NtDeviceIoControlFile() often takes around 4
microseconds on Wine (sometimes even over 20!) while it only takes around 0.5
microseconds on Windows 10 (even though that PC is a bit slower).
So it takes 8-40 times as long in Wine.
Looking into Wine's NtDeviceIoControlFile() implementation, this is probably
the case because it calls into wineserver, via `server_ioctl_file()`.
So I *think* that this could be relatively easily fixed by checking if the
handle is INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE first thing in NtDeviceIoControlFile(), and if
that's the case call `SetLastError( ERROR_INVALID_HANDLE );` and `return
FALSE;` (Windows returns FALSE and sets that error code).
I'm not 100% sure about this though, because I don't know if there are any
cases of calling `NtDeviceIoControlFile()` where INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE is OK -
if there are, the early-out-check would probably have to take the `code`
argument into account (as far as I can tell it specifies the operation that
NtDeviceIoControlFile() executes).
I attached a simple test program that just calls DeviceIoControl() a lot (with
the parameters I've seen in the real program I have issues with) and measures
how long that takes.
On my Windows machine (i7-4771, Win10) one call takes about 0.48-0.5
microseconds.
On my Linux machine (Ryzen 5950X, Kernel 5.15, wine 7.17) one call takes about
4 microseconds on average, though many calls took longer.

Impossible to run KeyPassXC on Ubuntu 20.04 and Winehq 7.16 (but also 7.0
stable).
A console is returned with error 5 because windbg cannot attach to obtain a
backtrace.

XM6 TypeG[1] is a SHARP X68000 Emulator.
When I use STed2[2] inside XM6 TypeG, some MIDI note-on messages aren't sent to
MIDI devices (e.g. Timidity++).
@honda_ken, an original reporter on Twitter, tweeted XM6 TypeG sounds strange
on Wine. He also informed me that Wine outputs the following message on his

I setup XM6 TypeG environment on my PC and I can reproduce the issue.
Preparing the environment is a bit difficult, I wrote a minimal reproducible
example (shortmsg.c).
Steps to reproduce:
1. Compile the source code.
% i686-w64-mingw32-gcc -o shortmsg.exe shortmsg.c -lwinmm
2. Setup your favorite MIDI device, e.g. Timidity++.
% timidity -iA &
3. Run the executable (argument -1 means we use the MIDI mapper).
% wine shortmsg.exe -1
Expected result:
We can hear the piano voice, C, D, E and F.
Actual result:
We can hear the piano voice, only C.

Leverless arcade controllers have all-buttons. One such controller is the
hitbox controller from the company hitbox. It has four directional buttons
mapped to DPAD. It has simultaneous opposite cardinal direction (SOCD)
cleaning. If you hold down + up, it should output up. If you hold left + right,
it should output nothing at all (neutral).
I added print statements. See the attached fix.
In clip 1, I demonstrate SDL2 events when down and up are held simultaneously
during a jump for a while:
