Bug ID: 57492
Summary: Players can't join Astroneer dedicated server with
enabled encryption because BCryptExportKey encryption
of key not yet supported
Product: Wine
Version: 9.22
Hardware: x86-64
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: bcrypt
Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
Reporter: joejoetv(a)joejoetv.de
Distribution: ---
The problem occurs when running an Astroneer dedicated server or the game
client using WINE while having encryption not disabled on at least one side
(which is required from some platforms to join).
In that case, when a player tries to join, they will not be able to connect and
the following message is printed by WINE:
```
0170:fixme:bcrypt:BCryptExportKey encryption of key not yet supported
```
This was tested using WINE staging 9.22 and GnuTLS 3.8.3 (which was causing
problems before this issue) and a game client running on Windows.

The game :
A Japanese fighting game.
The bug :
When a player or bot is KO'd, the camera zoom on the loser's body. The zoom in
itself is maybe okay, but the camera moving to follow the player ends up
corrupted a part of the screen.
How to launch the game :
The game needs "regsvr32 C:\windows\syswow64\ir50_32original.dll" but on
Linux/Wine this dll is not present in the prefix so deleting/moving
System/opening.avi from the game directory is easier.
Windows 10 needs a compatibility mode to force ddraw, but on Linux/Wine it just
works.
Launch qoh99.exe, LANG=ja_JP.UTF-8 is recommended.

Screenshot of the white tree view
- Download and run http://www.angusj.com/resourcehacker/reshacker_setup.exe.
- Run Resource Hacker.
- Click the Open toolbar icon, then double-click ResourceHacker.exe (or any
other Windows file for that matter).
There should be a tree view on the left of the window. Instead all you get is a
white screen, but the tree view is still present but invisible. With the tree
view focused, pressing arrow-right expands an item, causing a scrollbar to
appear. Clicking around or using up/down keyboard arrows causes items to show
in the right panel, but the tree view still fails to draw.
Looking at
https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=2777, I think
this worked on 5.19. I first encountered rendering errors on 7.0, and they
continue to occur on 7.2.
The missing tree view occurs both with visual styles on and off. Tested on
system Wine with a dirty wine prefix, and Bottles with a cleaner one.

I believe there is a bug in `dlls/comctl32/syslink.c` where `WM_DESTROY`
handler calls `DeleteObject(infoPtr->Font)`, although this font is not owned by
the control -- it is (or can be) given to it via `WM_SETFONT` and doing this
means that a system font can be destroyed prematurely, resulting in plenty of
other problems later on in the program.
Amazingly, it looks like this code was there since a1f3756daab (Free allocated
font handles when control is destroyed., 2004-12-08) and I don't really
understand how could it not be noticed until now, but apparently somehow it
wasn't.

Hi,
I have an old application written with Borland C++ Builder/Delphi.
In this application, the edit control TEdit can display a given charset. With
Wine 1.7.49, this does not work.
The attached image shows a demo application displaying this problem: on the
left side Windows 7, on the right side Wine 1.7.49 (under Linux Mint 17.1). The
charset of the five components is "EASTEUROPE_CHARSET". The yellow rectangle
shows the problem with wine.
P.S. As TButton is a wrapper around a Windows control, the charset does not
work.
Read for example:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4829646/font-charset-and-tbutton
But I think that does not affect the problem with the edit control.
Thank you

In Homesite+ (v.5.5), the cursor blink rate is very fast - it appears more like
a solid line that is flickering.
On native Windows, it flashes on-and-off slightly faster than once per second.

crash consistently. Even setting preferences results in a crash dialog upon

ReactOS Calc includes an HtmlHelp file for handling user's manual and runtime
help.
This help file must be copied under "%systemroot%\Help".
Unfortunately, it does not work.
I can see these issues:
1) The htmlhelp file is not found.
This happens because HHCTRL implementation for WINE does not seem to support
command lines including environment strings.
The program uses this command line:
"%systemroot%\\Help\\calc.chm::"
If I replace this string in my software with:
"c:\\windows\\Help\\calc.chm::"
then the help file is open and it is shown.
2) If you press on a key with the right mouse button and select for help, the
tooltip does not appear and HHCTRL prints on the console:
002a:fixme:htmlhelp:HtmlHelpW HH case HH_DISPLAY_TEXT_POPUP not handled.
All tests have been made with the latest sources from repository at the time of
writing (last released version is 4.10).
A ready-to-use executable and help file can be found on my page at sourceforge:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/reactos-calc/
Sincerely.

Installing either corefonts or native riched20.dll works around the problem for

Additionally, text appeared correctly in the application (with built-in

Sidenote: Neither bluetoothapis, bthprops.cpl, or winebth.sys are listed in the
bugzilla component list.
When the host system does not have bluez installed (as it lacks a bluetooth
controller), wine will spam dbus errors for a non-existent bluez service to the
console during start up.
Attempting to disable the message by setting bluetoothapis to disabled in the
libraries tab of winecfg does nothing. Disabling the driver causes wine to
complain that it cannot load the driver on each startup.
Even for a system with bluez installed, it would be nice to have some option
that could disable this support when it's not needed. As bluetooth snooping can
be a method of privacy invasion, and a misbehaving app could cause issues with
the native apps running on the host.
UsefulRegistryKey maybe? A more proper option would be a checkbox in winecfg,
or the stubbed cpl.

I have attached a sample application exhibiting the behaviour. To test, have

the hash returned initially is upper case, whilst the name in the

I used Visual Studio 2010 to compile the code in the attachment into a 32-bit

length of the data packets captured by the program is abnormal when the network

Additionally, compiling the code into a 64-bit release version of the Windows
program works normally. Another issue is that if I rename the file at
~/.wine/drive_c/windows/syswow64/wpcap.dll to wpcap_bak.dll, the 32-bit test
program cannot start, indicating a failure to load the DLL file. If I rename
the file at ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32/wpcap.dll to wpcap_bak.dll, the
64-bit test program cannot start either, also indicating a failure to load the
DLL file. Are their placement positions reversed?

Summary: musl based exp2() gives very inaccurate results on

Regression SHA1: ca0643875961ef62c76e0b9cbd0433002a948d9b
Distribution: ---
Since switching the msvcrt implementation of exp2() from internal to musl
based, in ca0643875961ef62c76e0b9cbd0433002a948d9b, the accuracy on i686 has
become quite bad, to the point of breaking a handful of tests in ffmpeg.
The issue can be reproduced with the following test snippet:
---
#include <stdio.h>
#include <math.h>
double input = 5.979471;
int main(int argc, char* argv[]) {
printf("exp2(%f) = %f\n", input, exp2(input));
return 0;
}
---
Prior to this commit, and with later versions on e.g. x86_64, the output is:
exp2(5.979471) = 63.095753
However, on i686, the output now is:
exp2(5.979471) = 62.968753
This is an error of around 0.2%, which is a couple orders of magnitudes larger
than expected/tolerated. It's curious how this issue only appears on i686
though, i.e. it doesn't look like an issue with the musl exp2() implementation
algorithm, but some component of it misbehaving on i686.

^C marks where I hit ctrl-c to stop the process, as it seemed hung.
I'm using a 32bit wineprefix with Windows 2000 or XP.
I can't really do regression testing, as I can't get an older package of wine
to install properly, and I also can't get wine to compile for even as new a
version as wine-4.0. It complains about multiple definitions of hInstance and
fails on compiling crypt32. Only the 5.0 releases will compile, and I have this
bug in them.
I've also noticed that a lot of older games seem broken. Seems like nobody has
tested these games in a while. The latest test of the Ghost Recon CD version
recorded in the App database is wine 1.5. Recently I had somebody help me out
with Age of Empires 2: The Age of Kings CD version, and we discovered that the
safedisc 1.x copy protection support was broken in wine since version 3.0 I
think. Probably a good idea to try running some old games, especially ones on
CD, to check for compatibility regressions.

The game 'Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel' is fully playable with Wine.
But recently I am not sure from which Wine version, the game shows some
noticeable graphics glitches, which the previous Wine version doesn't have. So
I uninstalled Wine from Fedora's repo, and use the WineHQ's repo instead. It
turns out that the game's graphics runs normally with winehq-stable(8.0.2), but
has some glitches with winehq-devel(8.13).
The attached screenshots show the launcher menu differences between Wine 8.0.2
and 8.13. Besides that, the in-game graphics also has more glitches with
winehq-devel, but usually happen in very short time and difficult to capture
the screenshots.

Zero sized writes using WriteProcessMemory succeed on Windows, but fail on
Wine.
Build the following program:
```c
#include <windows.h>
#include <stdio.h>
int main() {
// Allocate a buffer in memory
char* buffer = (char*) VirtualAlloc(NULL, 1024, MEM_COMMIT | MEM_RESERVE,
PAGE_READWRITE);
if (buffer == NULL) {
printf("Memory allocation failed\n");
return 1;
}
// Sample data to write (not actually used due to 0-byte length)
const char* data = "Sample data";
SIZE_T writtenBytes = 0;
// Get a handle to the current process
HANDLE processHandle = GetCurrentProcess();
// Attempt to write memory with 0 byte length
BOOL result = WriteProcessMemory(processHandle, buffer, data, 0,
&writtenBytes);
if (result == FALSE) {
printf("WriteProcessMemory failed: %lu\n", GetLastError());
} else {
printf("WriteProcessMemory succeeded, but 0 bytes were written.\n");
}
VirtualFree(buffer, 0, MEM_RELEASE);
return 0;
}
```
Commandline:
```
x86_64-w64-mingw32-gcc write_process_memory.c -o write_process_memory.exe
-lkernel32
```
When running on Linux, this prints `WriteProcessMemory failed: 87`.
When running on Windows, this succeeds `WriteProcessMemory succeeded, but 0
bytes were written`.
Tested on x86_64 Archlinux using latest git version of Wine
(wine-9.2-286-g232b18d820e).

Tomb3.exe backtrace with Wine 9.3
Tomb Raider 3 GOG crashes in Wine 9.3 with the attached backtrace.
Last known working version in AppDB is Wine 4.2. Working upwards from that
identified Wine 5.7 as the last working release, and bisecting between 5.7 and
5.8 identified commit 100ca518055c0e9edb68aa370f15a2768cf2c74f as the cause.
Reverting this commit from current master

with Windows version set to 98, WINEARCH is win32.

Newer Python versions (starting with 3.12.0) contain an optimized
implementation of shutil.copy2
(https://devdocs.io/python~3.11/library/shutil#shutil.copy2), which uses
kernel32.CopyFile2 in the background (Implementation:
https://github.com/python/cpython/pull/105086/files#diff-db8ac5932616071392…).
This leads to crashes if this method is used. Unfortunatly, this method is used
by pip in some cases, so a random `wine pip install pysftp` leads to a crash...
To reproduce:
1. Install Python 3.12.0 from https://www.python.org/
2. Run `wine python -c 'import shutil; shutil.copy2("a", "b")'`

Until recently the vcrun2008 (32-bit) installation completed successfully. With
Wine 9.7 (and current git) the installation completes without error in both
interactive and quiet mode.
However, none of the files exist in the WINEPREFIX and hence no program can
find the needed libraries.
Works fine in Wine 8.0.1. Running a bisect and will update.

Separating the bugs, on request from @Vijay Kamuju
continuing from the discussion in Bug56299:
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56299
Impacted Application: PL9.exe (Parashara's Light 9.0 from Geovision Software)
Bug56299 fixed the imm32.dll required stub.
However, the application still crashes spinning up the wine debugger after the
initial splash screen.
I tried a wmic hack proposed by @Louis Lenders, but unfortunately no matter
what amount I made wmic sleep, the splash screen would stay active by the same
amount, and then it crashes as usual with the wine debugger spinning up.
Bug56299 has some relevant log files.

cursoricon.c:2853: monochrome, bitmap info
cursoricon.c:2917: Test failed: LoadImage() failed with 0.
See https://test.winehq.org/data/patterns.html#user32:cursoricon
The call below has been failing systematically on Windows 8+ for more than 8
months:
handle = LoadImageA(NULL, "icon.ico", IMAGE_ICON, 0, 0,
LR_LOADFROMFILE);
ok(handle != NULL ||
broken(use_core_info && handle == NULL), /* Win 8, 10 */
"LoadImage() failed with %lu.\n", GetLastError());
So on Windows 8+ we expect to get NULL only if use_core_info is true but in
fact we get NULL even if it is false. That makes this test pretty pointless.

It's not clear where in the test the crash happens (particularly with the

likely to be in test_draw_geometry().
Based on the backtrace and current source, the crash happens on this
d2d_device_context_Clear() line, probably because ID3D11DeviceContext_Map()
silently failed:
vs_cb_data->transform_geometry._11 = 1.0f;

When using a virtual desktop, the function "draw_launchers" is called every
time the desktop paints. This function creates a font using
"CreateFontIndirectW", but does not delete it, which eventually causes wine to
run out of GDI object handles, causing the desktop to not repaint. This is easy
to reproduce by running a program like https://torcado.itch.io/windowkill that
causes the desktop to constantly repaint.

The combobox used in applications created with Visual Basic 3 seems to have got
a regression. It is almost impossible for me to scroll a single line using Wine

Open the application, click the Combo to drop down the list of items, Line1 to

further scrolling is much shorter in Wine 9 than Wine 8. Wine 8 is more true to
Windows 98.
I first noticed this in Hogia Hemekonomi but were able to create a small
example exe to avoid a long description on how to reproduce.
git bisect suggests it may be related to

Example: Vernier's LoggerPro 3.16.2 installed and LabQuest Mini (08f7:0008) USB
device hotplugged
LoggerPro brings INF files for various USB devices.
A stripped example of such file:
[Strings]
Date = "12/01/2020"
Version = "1.4.0.0"
DeviceName = "Vernier LabQuest Mini"
CatFileName = "LabQuestMini_WinUSB.cat"
DeviceGUID = "{56150077-B844-49e6-B562-88498BFA2C2F}"
DeviceClassGUID = "{6B8429BF-10AD-4b66-9FBA-2FE72B891721}"
ClassName = "VST_WinUSB"
[Version]
DriverVer = %Date%,%Version%
Signature = "$Windows NT$"
Class = %ClassName%
ClassGuid = %DeviceClassGUID%
WHen the device is hotplugged, following error message is logged:
fixme:setupapi:SetupDiGetINFClassW failed to convert "L"%DeviceClassGUID"" into
a guid
This happens because SetupDiGetINFClassW(), which is called by
SetupDiBuildDriverInfoList(), does not correctly parse the INF file.

Our COM-interface expose a method that take 0-N opptional parameters via
[vararg].
[vararg]
HRESULT Test([in] VARIANT mandatory, [in] SAFEARRAY(VARIANT) optional, [out,
retval] VARIANT* result);
Calling this method result in error when no arguments are specified, which
breaks compatibility with native Windows.
Calling with arguments works.
Problem may relate to SafeArrayCreate not supporting empty arrays in Wine. Or
to missing handling for edge-case in typelib.c (arround line 7363).
To progress testing we added workaround for our API, but this will affect
compatibility in other areas.

Summary: The bmpcoreimage test in user32:cursoricon fails on
most Windows versions
Product: Wine

Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: user32
Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org

The bmpcoreimage test in user32:cursoricon fails on most Windows versions.
The failure is either:
cursoricon.c:1217: Test failed: BMP (coreinfo): IMAGE_BITMAP failed.
or cursoricon.c:1162: Test failed: BMP (coreinfo): Pixel is 0x00000000
https://test.winehq.org/data/patterns.html#user32:cursoricon
A given Windows version can have different results.
The result seems to depend on the user32.dll version, as if Microsoft issued a
security fix that changed the handling of this bitmap and progressively
converged on the "Pixel is 0" result. Here's the detailed result per platform
and user32 version:

w2009.rx 10.0.19041.906 Pixel is 0x00000000
Note that w1507, w1607 and w1709 may be missing updates (but installing them
without upgrading to the next Windows version would be hard), which may be why
they don't fail.
So either this test should be removed, or it should be changed to expect 'pixel
== 0' and allow for broken results (which does not fit with the way
test_LoadImageFile() is currently implemented).
We may also want to update Wine's BITMAP_Load() implementation to match the
current Windows behavior.
For reference this test bitmap was introduced in the commit below:
commit 0dfedd50c38356c8049aef48e69b630204de0f79

stdout of application and winedbg, backtrace for handled and unhandled SIGSEGV
Looking at 56213 gives a crash ending in xul.dll.
Therefore I put the xul.pdb from wine-gecko-2.47.4-x86-pdb.tar.xz
into the directory of xul.dll.
This leads to a crashing winedbg.exe.
I think the address space gets exhausted, because the xul.pdb is 500 MB,
and htop shows for a crashing winedbg.exe VIRT=4072M RES=1588M.
This comes with a few of following lines:
err:virtual:allocate_virtual_memory out of memory for allocation, base (nil)
size 003f4000
But also this line is visible:
err:dbghelp_msc:pe_load_debug_directory Got a page fault while loading symbols
So the loading of the big pdb file is protected by
an exception handler in pe_load_debug_directory.
But afterwards dbghelp.dll tries to work with this partially loaded debug
information and gets a second SIGSEGV, this time unhandled
and unfortunately without any message.

Unhandled exception: page fault on read access to 0x00000006 in wow64 32-bit
code (0x7bd37250).
This error happens when I try to run a game I'm developing on the MMBasic For
Windows environment over Wine. I have tried different Wine versions, including
the last dev version (9.2). The error only happens if I have the gamepad
connected to the computer.
This is the MMBasic For Windows interpreter I'm using:
https://www.thebackshed.com/forum/uploads/matherp/2023-12-24_033644_MMBasic…
This is the game repo: https://github.com/leonicolas/knightmare-cmm2/
To run the interpreter environment: wine MMBasic_input.exe &> /dev/null
To run the game:
chdir"the/game/path" Usually the root folder is your Documents folder
run"km.bas"
Wine crashes with the attached backtrace after running the run"km.bas" command.

Free Download Manager terminal output on Wine 9.1
Hello,
Free Download Manager was working until it updated and restarted itself.
I updated Wine from 9.0-rc3 to 9.1. The application was working as usual after
the Wine update. I used the menu to check for an application update and allowed
it to update. Then the application downloaded some stuff and tried to restart
and got hung.
After forcing everything to close, when I launch the application, there is a
fdm.exe process using one core at 100% and nothing more.
Regards.

With WINEARCH=win32 procexp.exe shows just the menubar,
other parts of the userinterface seem missing.
This seems related to this line:
0124:err:seh:dispatch_user_callback ignoring exception c0000005
