Wine output
Normally you'd hear sound upon starting the game on Windows but Wine gives no
sound output. This also occurs in-game as well on the main screen. I checked if
there's a wine application entry in pavucontrol but there seems to be none.
Some people - according to this Reddit thread
(https://www.reddit.com/r/gwent/comments/6dtfyl/installing_gwent_on_macos_wi…)
- seem to have the same problem.
On a side note, there seems to be some graphical glitch which displays animated
cards weirdly/ black (http://i.imgur.com/WUHJEkh.png vs.
http://i.imgur.com/RZN9r7P.png) but I'll open another report for that later (if
it isn't already a known bug).

Part of log when the hang occurs
Wine hangs when trying to view .chm help-file in program Edison Professional
from Programbyrån.
A workaround is to use "winetricks ie6".
I tried first without ie6 but Wine would just hang (hh.exe using 100% CPU).

The game crashes at a certain point in Chapter 2, where your task is to 'pick
up' water around a totem pole. Absorbing water can be done by pressing and
holding the left mouse button. When I position the mouse over the water and
press LMB, the game crashes. The crash is fully reproducible and always occurs
at the same point. It makes impossible to get further in the game.
Tried with native d3dx, dsound, dinput8, but they didn't help.

Summary: TSMuxer introduces a rectangle at the end of every
line when muxing an .srt file into a .m2ts container
Product: Wine
Version: 7.8
Hardware: x86-64
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED

Reporter: shagooserver(a)gmail.com
Distribution: ---
Created attachment 72348
--> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=72348
error example
TSMuxer is essentially a muxing program to combine the 3 types of streams found
in a movie, video, audio and subtitles into a container file so the movie can
be watched on a player, VLC for example, in this instance that is a .m2ts
container file. As part of the muxing process TSMuxer converts the .srt file
into a .pgs stream/file to meet the specification for a .m2ts container.
My testing has shown that any .srt file is affected, regardless of it's source.
Please see the attachment which shows the rectangle which is added to the end
of every line.
TSMuxer is available at: https://github.com/justdan96/tsMuxer
I have spot tested releases for the last 2 years with the same result because
everything is labelled as pre release. The program was originally launched in
2004 as far as I can tell. I have mainly been testing the Windows 64 bit
releases but also a 32 bit release with exactly the same problem.
The easiest way to get the files needed would be to download a TV show from the
internet which includes subtitles and is in a .mkv container. MKV containers
support .srt subtitles natively so it just needs to be demuxed. Any other
container type other than mkv will require additional steps to convert whatever
subtitle stream it contains into an .srt file.
Once you have the 3 file types (usually h264, ac3 and srt) just open TSMuxer
and drag these 3 files into the top window from your file manager, h264 file
first.
Apologies if you feel I am trying to teach you how to suck eggs. I am available
to lend any assistance if needed.

When I launch something like notepad or just a random EXE, the wine window
header shows up but nothing else. When using the wine PKG file, it works. When
manually extracting it, it doesn't. An attachment is below of the problem.
macOS version: 10.13.6 (native)
The command I was trying to run:
WINEPREFIX=~/64WINE winetricks vcrun2019
but also
WINEPREFIX=~/64WINE notepad
I read somewhere that setting a environment variable fixed it, it doesn't for
me.
X11 (Xquartz) is installed, and is in the PATH.
I do not have a metal GPU, (ATI Radeon 5750 1024mb), but that shouldn't affect
it because this is wine version 6.23.
Thanks!

Terminal output from Crash
The faithlife assistant is a voice controlled simple AI that helps with
searches etc. Opening the tool causes an instant crash as per the terminal
output. Tried installing speechsdk with winetricks... still crashes.
---Install Guide---
The app is a bit like kindle in so much as the engine is free but the resources
cost so there is a free download. Unlike kindle it has many advanced research
features and books link together etc. The main app is free but there are paid
features, resources and subscriptions. To use the app you need a free account
https://www.logos.com/product/194909/logos-9-basic. It uses a downloader app
which last I tried doesn't work with wine. The actual msi link is
https://downloads.logoscdn.com/LBS9/Installer/9.6.0.0024/Logos-x64.msi
---Manual Install Procedure:---
1 Install wine 6 or newer
2 winetricks corefonts
3 winetricks settings fontsmooth=rgb
4 winetricks dotnet48
5 winetricks settings renderer=gdi (you might need to set the reg key
manually)
6 Install the Logos.msi download but don't run it.
7 wine64 reg add "HKCU\\Software\\Wine\\AppDefaults\\LogosIndexer.exe" /v
Version /t REG_SZ /d vista /f
8 Run Logos and sign in with your free account.
---GUI Install Script---
There is a script which downloads a preconfigured wine bottle and sets it all
up in $USER/Logos_BibleP directory which you can then easily remove etc.
https://github.com/ferion11/LogosLinuxInstaller/releases Choose fast install
without wine AppImage.

Nexus TK (download from http://nexustk.com/, AppDB entry is
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=926) crashes
when editing a board post.
It is possible to type the post without problems. As far as I can tell, the
problem occurs when doing something other than continuing to type, or pasting
-- most recently, I attempted to hilight some text, and crash.
By "crash", I mean the game (running in a 1024x768 desktop window) stops
responding entirely, and the log seems to indicate that some process died.
Note: Nexus works flawlessly with version 0.9.40 -- it has no bugs that Nexus
itself doesn't when running under Windows, and, in fact, is often more stable
than on Windows. I'll add regression tests and logs soon...
The game is otherwise usable, as far as I can tell. For now, I will compose in
a separate window, and paste into Nexus.
Every version I have tried since 0.9.40 has had problems. I believe the game
would not even run until 0.9.62, and this bug does happen in 1.0-rc1. Stock

Summary: Mouse clicks are sometimes offset higher (~20 px) than
the mouse cursor in LTSpice, winecfg and explorer
Product: Wine

Created attachment 69813
--> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=69813
winecfg output during prefix creation and automatic wine-mono download
Mouse interactions are sometimes offset 10~30 (random) pixels up from where the
cursor is displayed
Tried in LTSpice XVII and in winecfg, with wine 6.6 (Arch Linux "wine" package,
wine-mono downloaded by wine and not from the Arch package) in a new win64
Windows 7 prefix.
Wine 6.5 worked fine.
I cannot test with the latest developement version for disk space and available
time problems.
## LTSpice XVII
LTSpice is a light and easy-to-use electronic simulation freeware by Analog
Devices:
https://ltspice.analog.com/software/LTspiceXVII.exe
(Installation log attached, using app defaults)
(Run log attached)
In the component selector: open an existing schematic and right click on a
transistor, or create a new schematic and add a transistor (F2, select "npn",
Enter, place it anywhere with a left click, then Escape) and right click on it,
try to click on new transistor, try to select any of the parts.
In the component selection window, in the Bipolar Transistor right-click menu,
in the transistor selection dialog and also in the save modified file prompt
when exiting, I need to point a bit under the button or item (0~30 pixels,
variable) to actually click on the item and not on whatever is immediately over
it.
Sometimes the offset varies in the same window, for example from about 20
pixels to zero.
I did not find that the toolbar, the menu bar or the schematic view were
affected.
The list of transistor types in the transistor selection dialog also has
another problem: the grey header of the list, with labels such as "Part No.",
"Manufacturer", Polarity", "Vceo[V]", is often drawn blank or with an
incoherent line of the list, and reappears only when scrolling right. This is
mentioned to ease usage of the application, ideally I should file another bug
for this issue, but I haven't done it in the past three years.
## winecfg
While creating the clean prefix (by running winecfg, see also attached log), I
found that mouse clicks are also offset in winecfg, for example when adding a
drive unit (pointing to a folder), the drop-down menu that allows one to select
a drive unit also rolls down only if I click about 20 pixels under its lower
margin, and the same for the OK and Cancel buttons.
The Add button and the other controls in the winecfg tab do not behave offset.
## explorer
The file properties popup has the same offset problem.
It seems to me that the issue manifests itself in popups.
Performing enough clicks and resizes on the window, sometimes the offset goes
away.

Please add a more descriptive error message for the following errors:
"File not found"
[ OK ]
and
"Invalid name"
[ OK ]
Both with 'stop' icon, and shown 10 times in succession.
I *think* they are triggered via "ShellExecute" in my own VB6 legacy
application.
Sorry I can't be more specific than that because the errors are so vague.
For example, it would be tremendously helpful *which* file is not found
(Wine/OS executable/dll file, the targeted command/executable, the file passed
to targeted command/executable, or if it is an error triggered by the
potentially launched application or Wine/OS?
Same for "invalid name". Invalid name what? Name of executable? Drive letter?
Drive mapping? Folder name? File name? Extension name? Application name? OS
name?
The only hint I have is that this message dialogue is Wine styled and thus not
something triggered outside Wine environment. Maybe they are not even related
to ShellExecute.
I'm aware this is probably the most useless bug report ever, I just want to
encourage any developer who is reading this to write more useful error messages
in the future. It has cost both of us more time to write/read this ticket than
to improve the code that displays these errors. And I'm nowhere near finding a
solution for my problem after hours and hours...
No hard feelings, I absolutely love Wine! Thanks for your efforts!

Summary: Final Fantasy XI Setup window is not rendered properly
and appears stuck (msiexec)
Product: Wine

Hardware: x86-64
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2

Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org

Distribution: ---
When running the setup for Final Fantasy XI Online, which will execute 'msiexec
/i FINAL_FANTASY_XI.msi', the application window is not rendered properly and
appears to be frozen, but 'msiexec' will be using about 100% of one CPU core.
The window may or may not show the current process being "computing space
requirements", which will not be updated if the window is minimised and
restored for example, showing an empty frame.
After approximately 6 minutes (possibly depending on CPU power, the disk space
available, or/and other unknown factors), the installer will proceed to the
next step.
Unsure if related at all, but the 'msi' debug channel will print a lot of lines
like these with an ever increasing row number:
00fc:trace:msi:MSI_ViewFetch 0526D538 0062F610
00fc:trace:msi:msi_view_get_row view 0526D830, row 48244, rec 0062F610.
00fc:trace:msi:msi_view_refresh_row 01A65D78 0526D830 48244 055F45F8
00fc:trace:msi:msiobj_release object 055F45F8 destroyed
After proceeding further with the setup, there is another space requirements
check which makes the window behave similarly, but the time the window appears
hung is a lot shorter. Other phases during the install, such as copying new
files also have times where the window isn't updated (blank/transparent after
minimise/restore).
This is no recent regression, and has been there for several years (possibly
ever since the release of the latest version of the installer in 2019).

PLEASE add a VERY CLEAR reminder to link bugs to the AppDB once a bug has been
logged. I've spent hours doing this for apps that (claim to) have maintainers.
Even people who have submitted test results don't bother linking the bugs they
report (i.e. they have accounts for both).
I had to link around 20 to Steam alone.
If nobody cared about this feature of the AppDB then why does it exist?
At least with a blatant message people cannot claim they "didn't know".
I don't think I need to explain why the links to the AppDB are useful.
I know I can submit a patch for this myself, but I suspect someone can do this
a lot quicker than I can.
Ta.

A log from the application, to help with the errors
EA's Origin application installs fine if one imports the insecure certificate,
I can login, and everything seems to be in working order, However, if I try to
download a game (or well... anything), the download progresses completely
normally all the way to 99%, and will then fail right there. It doesn't start
installing, so killing off EAProxyInstaller doesn't change anything, and none
of the patching tricks have worked. Something interesting to note that in the
interface, it will actually show the downloaded information as being a tiny bit
short - like, say, 168.32mb out of 168.38mb (just an example). The logs also
seem to support this; after a certain amount, it seems as though it tries to
connect to a server, but keeps being turned down with a 503 error. I believe it
works fine under Windows, so it doesn't appear to be an Origin error. I decided
to add the application's log, since I think I can only add a single attachment,
but I would be happy to provide the output wine produces if you would like. I

I am trying to install the Sims 3 from a DVD. However, it is requiring me to

Running GTA V with Lutris with the systems (Fedora 36) Wine version 7.9
(wine-core 7.9-1.fc36) you always end up alone on a server in GTA online. Same
for game modes like Arena Wars etc..
To be fair I have no idea if this is the right place to report to.

Running SubtitleEdit 3.6.6 portable or install eventually results in a UI
freeze, and sometimes a glitchout where portions of the UI are replaced with
blank colored squares/rectangles. The error messages are different sometimes,
but most common is something about h264: get_buffer() failed.
I have not tested this with wine stable.
Here is the program link https://github.com/SubtitleEdit/subtitleedit/releases
Notably, standalone mono (not wine-mono) runs the application fairly well.

Stack backtrace and loaded libraries
To reproduce the specific segfault:
1) Install Anno1404, either the steam version or the GoG one.
2) Patch the I.A.A.M. mod over Anno 1404
3) Apply the '4gb patch' to the result (or flag the executable as
large-address-aware).
4) Launch the game, play a big map for about 60-70 minutes (or leave it running
for that long).
Wined3d will segfault at address (+0x34dee) (0x0033f038), according to winedbg.
See the attached file for more information.
As far as I've tested, it's always that exact spot where the fault happens.
Without a debugger attached, a user would experience a freezing program. If ran
in full-screen mode, it will also lock up your X session, requiring the user to
terminate the wine application from another tty console.

I am playing a game (EVE Online) under Wine 1.5.8 and it consumes roughly 750MB
to 1GB. I think a lot of that memory is static data. Multiple copies of the
game can be run simultaneously (multi-boxing).
I would like to know if Wine can take advantage of the kernel's KSM (Kernel
Samepage Merging) feature. I know the KVM (Kernel Virtual Machines) already
does this.
This would be really awesome to have!!
Thanks!

"winetricks ie8" succeeds, but the resulting browser doesn't seem to work.
There are workarounds if you just care about the contents of the
browser (e.g. you can use ie6's main window, and ie8's guts), but I
don't know of a workaround for getting ie8's main window to work.
This has probably never worked, but I'm marking 1.3.2 since that's when I first
tried it.

If you need a log, please provide the appropriate command to generate it. My
current command is:
$ env WINEDEBUG=+xrandr+x11settings+system
WINEPREFIX="/home/steve/.local/share/wineprefixes/MV_TT_15" wine
"/home/steve/.local/share/wineprefixes/MV_TT_15/drive_c/Program
Files/Broderbund/Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing 15/Mavis15.exe" >
wine_mavis_log.txt
PS: I just realized that my attempt at getting logs via the tee command may
have been improperly formatted. I'll try again.

Hi
When I try to run the game "Fighting Steel", it starts but crashes almost
immediately.
The hardware checkup done by the game doesn't throw errors.
This is a game using the Direct3D Retained Mode.
I am running Wine on Ubuntu 15.
Back traces are joined to this message.

Summary: Mendeley plugin for MS Word 2010: error to any action

wine186_output_mendeley_word_plugin_20170517
This issue was already reported some years ago as bug 32315, but it was closed
without an actual fix.
To sum up: I can successfully install MS Office, Mendeley and the Mendeley Word
plugin, but if I click on "References" in Word, I get the following as a
"Microsoft Visual Basic" error:
Run-time error 429: ActiveX component can't create object.
Then, if I click on anything in the Mendeley Cite-O-Matic section, I get the
following as a "Mendeley Word Plugin Problem" (notice the different headers):
ActiveX component can't create object ( 429) in MendeleyPlugin. For more help,
visit http://support.mendeley.com
This essentially renders the complete Word plugin unusable.
I have experienced this error in Wine 1.8.6 as well as 2.8, while in bug 32315
the same error (although with slightly different wine output) was reported for
versions 1.7.x
I attach the wine output as well. (First two lines were output during clicking
"References", last three while clicking "Insert citation".)
Thank you in advance if you decide to look into this, currently this is the
only thing that keeps me from using Wine.
Config:
openSUSE 42.1
Wine 1.8.6 (with vcrun6, wsh57 and corefonts installed, version set to Windows
7) or Wine 2.8
MS Office 2010 (32bit)
Mendeley 1.17.9 (download here:

wine-1.3.30-45-ga843ace console output
SlingPlayer 2.0.4 cannot connect to the Slingbox, despite the native quartz.dll
workaround for bug 18556. There isn't anything to give a clue in the console
output.
The Slingplayer reports "There was a problem communicating with the Slingbox.
Please try connecting again."
Tried native qcap but it makes no difference.
Wireshark shows that the Slingplayer and the Slingbox do exchange data before
failing, but it is not clear what that data is. Slingplayer 1.5 can stream
(but has problems with sound).
This never happened before, but I went back to Wine 1.2.3 and the same problem
occurs. Perhaps something has changed in the Slingplayer (which updates itself
during install) or in Ubuntu that is affecting this app.
Will keep looking.

RutonyChat does not work properly. This is a useful program that I really need.
I don't know how to get its log properly. Because it only runs through steam. I
attach the log I was able to get with the command:
steam &> /disks/D/imLEGR/Test/RutonyChat_log.txt

winearch: win32 / version: win98.
Some additional notes:
- Tried as well with a cue/bin image of the Europe version of the game i found
on archive.org (using cdemu) with same results.
- Tried to change to winnt/win3x/winxp, but the game complains it is not
compatible with theses versions.
- The beta version demo does works though. But this version could be hardly
compared to original official release as it seems very different from the
original game. The demo can be found here:
I suspect a bug sitting around the copy protection. This game is protected with
SafeDisc 1.00.026. Just stumb upon this old 2008 closed bug which seems to
describe the same issue:
<https://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?t=2830>. But since 2008 there have been
a lot of improvment related to copy protection support and now Wine support
Safedisc 1.

Summary: upgrading from WINE 5.0.3 to 7.0, winecfg throws

A capture of the error messages about missing DLL components
I attempted to upgrade the WINE from 5.0.3 to WINEHQ Stable 7.0. When I ran
"winecfg" after the upgrade, it complained about missing DLL components. This
same situation occurred after installing WINEHQ development version 7.9.
Regressing to version 5.0.3 eliminated the missing DLL errors.
During the installation of HQ stable, I copied the missing DLLs to WINE.
"winecfg" stopped sending errors about missing DLL and complained about not
being able to run "wineboot.exe"
I regressed WINE to 5.0.3 for now.

Summary: Certain keyboard keys don't work in Wine when using
VNC
Product: Wine
Version: 1.2-rc6
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P1
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: WillWill56(a)gmail.com
Bug: While connected to a computer via VNC, certain keys that work perfectly
fine in native programs on the remote computer are not picked up in Wine
programs on the remote computer.
Example: Holding shift and pressing the keys 1234567890 in gedit produces
"!@#$%^&*()", but typing the same into Wine Notepad produces "12345678",
showing that the shift key and curved brackets are not getting from VNC to
Wine.
Speculation: Keys should be sent VNC Client --> VNC Server --> Wine, but
somewhere along the line the process is broken. But when keys are sent VNC
Client --> VNC Server --> Generic GNOME App it works fine.
Reproduction: The VNC Client is RealVNC on Windows XP SP3, and the VNC Server
is x11vnc on Ubuntu 10.04 (previously tried Ubuntu's built in VNC server, same
bug occured) (this may not matter, but try an Ubuntu -> Ubuntu VNC connection
and see if the bug occurs). Try holding shift and typing capital text, curved
brackets, symbols etc into a simple Wine app like Notepad running on the Ubuntu
computer, then try typing the same into a simple GNOME app like gedit.

Log
The game won't start. Launching through the "rockstar games launcher". The game
just won't start. I'm attaching the logs of the following actions:
1) WINEPREFIX=/disks/G/Games/RDR2/ wine "/disks/G/Games/RDR2/drive_c/Program
Files/Rockstar Games/Launcher/Launcher.exe" &>
/disks/D/imLEGR/Test/logs/rdr2.txt
2) The rockstar games launcher opens. In it I launch "red dead redemption 2" it
does not start, then try again.
The most annoying thing is that my friend has exactly the same computer and
system (everything is exactly the same as mine). Only he uses a pirated version
of the game and it all works fine. But I have a license and nothing works.

Some seemingly gibberish that the Wine app gave me when it failed to load an

I am not sure what happened, I opened Jurassic world evolution through steam on
crossover, I have an M1 Max Mac, and the app failed to load, and wine gave me
an error message and told me to report it here, saying that it was an error
caused that could not have happened on a windows machine. so I decided to
report it as I was told to. (also I didn't know what the severity options
meant, like they should be more specific, as in is it talking about the
severity of the bug to my machine or to wine as a whole? and how severe is
critical vs blocker?)

Summary: ChemDraw 21.0 crashes on use of the Page Setup button
Product: Wine
Version: 7.8

Stacktrace of the crash
If run in a fresh, unmodified wine prefix, ChemDraw will install correctly
using a workaround but won't run. To remediate this gdiplus was installed via
winetricks. After that all basic functionality is restored and ChemDraw can be
used for simple 2D editing. On use of the page setup button ChemDraw crashes.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Download ChemDraw and extract the 32-bit .msi from the .exe
3. Install gdiplus using 'winetricks gdiplus'
3. Install the .msi using 'msiexec -i
PerkinElmer_ChemOffice_Suite_2021_21.0.0.msi'
4. Open ChemDraw and use the page setup button
Expected behavior:
A dialog opens and paper size can be set.
Actual behavior:
When the 'page setup' button is clicked, ChemDraw will crash (most of the
times, especially if not run for the first time and a stylesheet is used) with
the stacktrace indicating that comdlg32 is at fault (more precisely
comdlg32\printdlg.c:3179).
Additional info:
This behavior can be observed using 64- and 32-bit prefixes.
Wine was installed from the winehq-staging package, version 7.8-staging.
System info:
OS: Kubuntu 22.04
Kernel Version: 5.15.0-30-generic

Summary: explorer: Spaces in desktop title on CLI cause both
wrong window title and command
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.13
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P2
Component: programs
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: shacklein(a)gmail.com
When using the form:
$ wine explorer /desktop=Title,WxH program.exe
Title currently cannot contain spaces. Example:
$ wine explorer /desktop=My\ Program,800x600 myprogram.exe
This correctly detects the size 800x600 for the virtual desktop, but it sets
the title of the window to "My" and tries to run "Program" as the command line.
I've submitted a patch to wine-patches that fixes this problem (and afaik,
doesn't introduce any new ones), though I'm not sure if it's really "neat"
enough.
http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-patches/2009-March/070776.html
So far, I've had no feedback about it. At the least, I'd like to be told why
it's not suitable for inclusion, or if there's any cleaning up I need to do to
it :)

Hi,
just downloaded new mfaktc binary compiled with CUDA10 which adds support for
new Nvidia Turing GPUs like RTX 2080..
from here:
https://www.mersenneforum.org/mfaktc/mfaktc-0.21/mfaktc-0.21.win.cuda100.zip
the app is a "simple" command line app so it should work OK with wine if it
wasn't compiled with new CUDA10..
on Windows works ok but using latest Wine-Staging 3.18 (as staging is still
required for CUDA support right?) no..
the app isn't detecting runtime version OK:
CUDA runtime version 13697.32
CUDA driver version 10.0
ERROR: CUDA runtime version must match the CUDA toolkit version used during
compile!
full log attached..
