Basically what it says in my summary. I inserted the disk into my disk drive

not related to network bandwidth. For example, 11.2 Mb. test file from

Wine output when running the game and reproducing the bugs listed.
-Background Info-
Thief Gold (with TFix patch) used to run exceptionally well (no
issues/bugs/graphical errors) around September 18, 2015 on Arch Linux (with
everything up to date, so I was using whatever wine and mesa versions were
available at the time). I went on a hiatus from playing the game until
yesterday (I still used my system and updated to the newer releases of things
like wine and mesa, etc) and now whenever my character goes underwater the
screen turns black, and when I try accessing the inventory it turns black also.
-Bug-
When going underwater my screen will turn black, if I surface back on top of
the water the game appears normal (this will continue). If I try accessing my
inventory, instead of the item showing the screen just turns black and it is
impossible to get the game looking like it did before.
-What I have tried to do-
I have tried reverting back to older versions of Wine AND mesa but the problem
persists. I am begininng to wonder whether it is something like an xorg server
update causing the problem, if that is possible.

Chessmaster 9000 cannot draw any of its built-in 2d chess sets and some of its
3d sets.
With 2d sets, either the board or the pieces (or both) are not rendered. With
3d sets, it depends on the chosen set, some board/pieces combinations are
handled correctly and some are not.

Wine has wscript.exe, cscript.exe and JScript.dll, but they seem to do nothing.
This prevents some software embedding WSH from working properly. The solution
can be some open-source JS engine like SpiderMonkey or v8 wrapped into a a
library providing WSH API. Probably you can reuse node.js which looks similar
to WSH in the sense it has API for network requests and FS manipulation.
Of course it is possible to install Microsoft's WSH, but it surely contain
vulnerabilities since it have not been updated for years and lacks modern JS
features.

Debugging an application I found the cause of the first failure is that the
software installs a 'group' (which fails with a fixme). Post install, I created
a group (addgroup) but the application calls LookupAccountName to retrieve the
SID of that created group.
You can hack around this (if LookupAccountName fails, query the current user
and re-call the function to get it's sid) but looking at the function there is
complete support missing for anything other than the current user.
Ideally it should call (something like getgrent?) and if it finds a group, map
it to a SID somehow (perhaps end the SID with the gid?). It could handle
querying other users as well in a similar way (getpwnam?)

When the input $pathname is longer than 260 characters wine -w $pathname
1. truncates the converted output path at 260 characters
2. appends some garbage characters to it
3. reports no error and exits with status 0
I think fixing #3 as a minimum is important; at least exit 1, possibly print an
error message.
Fixing #2? Why is it printing garbage characters? Buffer overrun?
And please consider changing #1 by extending support to paths > 260 characters.
After all, if I convert the same path by hand and feed it to a Windows
application it has no problems dealing with it. So the 260-character limit of
winepath -w seems rather artificial to me.
I create long linux paths with
mkdir -p /tmp/aaa/bbb/ccc/ddd/eee/
touch /tmp/aaa/bbb/ccc/ddd/eee/$(dd if=/dev/zero count=1 bs=260 | tr '\000' a)
# which creates /tmp/aaa/bbb/ccc/ddd/eee/aaaaaaaa...
Thanks.

Still valid Wine 2.1.0 (from Ubuntu 16.04 x86-64 PPA).
Native comctl32.dll from winetricks doesn't seem to bring up radio channels or
option to add them.
(Note that radio channels do play if you open them by their URL directly.)

There are some well-known crashes in joy.cpl but since my controllers don't
support the other effects I can't reproduce myself so it is good that you can
test this. If you are able to compile Wine I can attach some patches.
Anyway, please attach a +dinput patch when playing with all effects
sequentially.

Hi guys.
Just to let you know that there is an experimental driver (KLGDFF) for Logitec
wheels in the work with support for other effects other than the "Constant
force" one.
I've got this experimental driver from here:
http://steamcommunity.com/groups/linuxff/discussions/0/405692224235574471/
The driver seems to work with some native game like Euro Truck Simulator 2
(still buggy but work).
If I launch "wine control" I see those effects reported as available:
1 Constant force
2 Square
3 Sine
4 Triangle
5 SawtoothUp
6 SawtoothDown
7 Spring
8 Damper
9 Inertia
10 Friction
Playing the effects works for the effects from 1 to 6 (with some errors, see
console-log.txt) but I get a crash if I try the effects from 7 to 10 (see
wine-backtrace.txt).
I'm not sure if the bug is caused by wine or if it is due to the "experimental"
state of the driver.
I would really like to play properly rFactor2 via wine.
Any help is appreciated, even an "is not our bug" so I can report the problem
to the driver developer!
Thanks in advance.

Altium Designer 16 stopped working since Wine 1.9.2* / Arch Linux 64.
After updating from Wine 1.9.19 to 1.9.22, neither Altium 16.1.12 in present
prefixes, nor Altium installer in new prefixes starts anymore. Instead,
/usr/bin/wineserver gets stuck at full cpu load and does not react to
wineserver -k or SIGTERM.
What was also done:
- purge and reinstall of Wine and all dependencies
- switch of Wine-staging 1.9.21
- log in as different (new) user
- downgrading to Wine 1.9.20
- setup of a chroot environment on a second hdd with nothing more than Xorg,
drivers and Wine / dependencies
... without improvement of the situation

In general, Wine seems to work, which was tested with Notepad++ from:

Workaround
Once Bug #37307 is resolved then Urban Assault runs into another issue (at
least, when using the software renderer). The game has a black screen and just
hangs there, apparently due to an unexpected DDSCAPS_SYSTEMMEMORY capability
being set. Workaround attached.
Note: This commit is later moved (commit

Interestingly, the game instead crashes immediately upon startup when I try to

StudioTax 2012 installer stops with error 67108864 (presented in a dialog, see
screenshot). Clicking 'OK' brings up another similar error dialog with a
different error number, clicking on that dialog brings up another and so on.
Prerequisite: 'winetricks dotnet40' and the installer must be run from the C:
drive (or at least it doesn't like being run from Z:) or the installer fails
earlier with an 'Invalid command line' error dialog.
Website suggests that .NET 2.0 SP2 is required but installing dotnet20sp2 via
winetricks causes the installer to fail much earlier complaining about lack of
space.
Attached +msi,+msidb as it appears to be MSI related.

Call of Duty Ghosts uses 'PE32+' EXE to start up in 32-bit, but ultimately
requires a 64-bit set up to run. It would seem like it probably does this so it
can at least tell the user of a 32-bit system that they need to have a 64-bit
set up to run.
It calls this function at start. I replaced psapi.dll with one from my Windows
7 installation (because PSAPI.EnumProcessModulesEx is not implemented in
64-bit), but after that the call is forwarded to kernel32
K32EnumProcessModulesEx.

Test program source code
Currently the wine implementation of the comctl32 tab control gets its parent
window once and caches it. While it's true that on real Windows some controls
do this, the tab control is not one of them in my tests.
The attached program is an example test. It creates two windows, an empty
window and a full window. It then creates a tab control on the empty window,
changes its parent to the full window, adds a few pages, and shows both
windows. If you click on a tab to change pages, you should see a message on
stdout telling you which parent window received the TCN_SELCHANGE notification.
On real Windows, both with Common Controls v5 and v6, I see
notification received on full window
On wine, I see
notification received on empty winddow
(The test program does no error checking. By default it runs with Common
Controls 5; with the first argument set to comctl6 it will run with Common
Controls 6.)
This is wine-1.7.34 built from source, Windows XP 32-bit, and Windows 7 64-bit.
Thanks.

Stellar Explorer 2.0b demo
The 16-bit game Stellar Explorer 2.0b (attached) shows a problem with the size
of a text box.
The text box at the upper left of the window should show two lines of text.
Running under Wine, it's only one line high and the scroll buttons at the right
side consequently appear squashed.
Run stellar2.exe. Click through the initial dialog boxes then select File->New
from the menu and click OK.

Shows readable licence and unreadable labels etc.
1: Go to http://phantasystaruniverse.jp/download/ and click on
"SkeedReceiverインストールはこちら" to download the program.
2: Run the program. Use a Japanese locale just in case: "LANG=ja_JP.UTF-8 wine
SKEE~OQ5.EXE"
3: Start the installation process. The installer will now download the whole
Skeedreceiver program. Download starts automatically. The only button available
says "cancel" (キャンセル), so there is no need to do anything. Japanese characters
are displayed properly at this step.
4: After the program has been downloaded, you will see more information where
many Japanese characters are turned into square boxes. Only the licence
agreement is readable: everything else consists of boxes.
Attached image shows a screenshot of the licence agreement. The character
display problem occurs elsewhere in the program too.

Backtrace from Wine 1.0.1
In newer Wine versions I can't get back traces, because Wine hags with a system
error dialog(the send or don't send error report one if under Windows). I can't
click anywhere so I have to kill the process and I won't get the back trace.
However, I know this issue is very old so I installed a Wine (1.0.1) which
didn't have that error dialog yet. Now it simply crashes, but I get back
trace...
Clicking to change the map will immediately make an unhandled exception and the
debugger will start.

Logs from the time of the crash - not sure if they're related or not.
After beginning a scenario I went into the Options menu and chose the 600x800
graphics mode. The application crashed and I got the WINE 'serious error'
dialog. Attempting to restart the game causes it to crash again when it begins
playing the intro movie.

I attached the terminal output but there wasn't anything revealing in there.
The bug goes away when trying a WINEDEBUG=+d3d log.
The issue also goes away when you disable the 'advancedrendering' option in the
game's Options.ini file (My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/).

It reproduces 100% of time if you follow these steps:
1. Hover over toolbar "Menu" button (the identity sign ≡), see "Open menu"
tooltip
2. Move cursor to Downloads button (the down-pointing arrow), see
"Display p████████████████████████████" (instead of "Display progress of
ongoing downloads"). Notice that the non-black rectangle is the same as was in
previous tooltip ("Open menu").
3. Try opening any other menu or tooltip — it only has that original rectangle
of "Open menu" tooltip drawn, with other parts black.
In some cases jumping to another submenu clears the blackness, and a bigger
rectangle becomes visible on all menus for a while.
Tested on Firefox 47 and 48.

Hi,
I use VTI, Virtual Texas Instrument emulator, which emulates calculators
TI89/92+.
>From MS-Win XP to MS-Win 7, VTI displays an overlay at boot, while analysing
ROM images. It takes about ~1.
This overlay is displayed with a fading in and out to be nice.
When running with Wine, overlay fading in and out takes about 1 minute, instead
of ~1 second.
Whith older versions of Wine (like 1.0), it worked fine, overlay was not
displayed more time than under MS-Win.
OS : Debian testing 64 bits (Jessie), real or virtualized over MS-Win 7.
Wine : the one packaged with Debian, v 1.4.1, with default config.
Reproductible : always
How to reproduce : unarchive the emulator, enter in the directory "vti", then
type "wine Vti.exe"
Behavior : overlays takes 1 minute to fade in and out
Expected behavior : overlays takes ~1 second to fade in and out
(to be GPL-compliant : the attached archive contains a binary image of an OS
under GPL, PedroM. Sources are available here : http://www.yaronet.com/t3?id=19
. This image is necessary to boot the emulator)

tried on two different days, so Steam servers are not the problem.

The api SafeArrayCreate expected a vector holding the shape
of array, eg. foo[3,4], the vector should be {3,4}. But what
I found was that wine interprets this vector in the reversed
order of what a real window would do. Hence one need to supply
a vector of {4,3} to wine to create the correct shape.
Also related to this, other api that need axis number are also
affected. eg. SafeArrayGetLBound/SafeArrayGetUBound
SafeArrayGetLBound ,1, will retrieve lbound of the second axis
SafeArrayGetLBound ,2, will retrieve lbound of the first axis
steps to reproduce problem,
create a safearray of shape [3,4] of integer from 0 to 11
open excel via ole automation and get a range of cell of the same shape
put the variant of the safearray into range
cleanup ole stuff
use excel or other spreadsheet programs to inspect the result.
expected output is a block of cells

Tried the workaround for Bug 18070 but that did not help so this is a separate

This is a weird one for me.
If Ventrilo 3.0.x is the first application to start under WINE (1.1.22), it
works fine.
If, however, you start another application first, say World of Warcraft, and
then try to start Ventrilo, it crashes with the following debug output:
http://pastey.net/115072
Note that this only happens with WINE 1.1.22, NOT 1.1.21 or earlier. So it is a
recent regression.
Hopefully that should lead to a speedy fix.

you get "hello = 0 <Integer>" as prefilled in text.

"Explzh for Windows" is one of well-known file compression/decompression
utility in Japan.
There are two binary version, Japanese version (Ver.5.69a) and English one
(Ver.5.69a_en). English version is still release candidate version.
Both Japanese version and English one show compressed item names with the first
letter only in listview or treeview area when I load an archive file in wine.
How to reproduce:
1) Launch EXPLZH.EXE
2) Open a compressed file. ([File]-[Open Archive] or Drag & drop)
Note: We need a plugin dll file except for lzh/zip/cab/rar archive.
The attachment is showing the problem.
Opening archive is Crystal Disk Mark 3.0i (CrystalDiskMark_3_0_0i.zip). You can
download from http://en.sourceforge.jp/projects/crystaldiskmark/releases/.
But this problem is *not* archive file specific.

Summary: comctl32: Sliders of disabled trackbars are rendered

Product: Wine
Version: 1.4-rc1
Platform: x86-64

OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: trivial

Component: comctl32
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: markk(a)clara.co.uk
Classification: Unclassified
Sliders of disabled trackbar controls should be rendered differently from the
non-disabled state, to indicate that the control is disabled. However with
Wine's built-in comctl32, disabled trackbars are rendered identically to
enabled ones. There is no visual indication that the slider cannot be moved.
To demonstrate, download and run WinUAE. When the settings window opens, click
"CPU and FPU" in the treeview on the left. The sliders in the CPU Emulation
Speed area are disabled. Click the "Adjustable between CPU and chipset" radio
button to enable them. There is no change in how the sliders are rendered.
Enable native comctl32 (winetricks comctl32) and run WinUAE again. Disabled
sliders are rendered with a cross-hatch white/grey pattern. Clicking the radio
button to enable the trackbars renders the sliders all grey, indicating that
the user can adjust them.

Commit e8846b7c78b008bbd5deb7d9f9c7a7793db32c68
A .NET program I use recently started to hang while it was populating it's
listviews. I've run regression tests and determined that commit
e8846b7c78b008bbd5deb7d9f9c7a7793db32c68 is the patch that causes the hangs. I
have attached this patch as well. Reversing this patch in lasted git causes
the program to function as expected.
>From the looks of it, this may mean the program is written improperly.
Unfortunately though, this DOES run as expected on windows so having the
developer 'fix' it is not an option.
Program: GamParse
Download link: http://gambosoft.com/Pages/Downloads.htm
Requirements: .Net 2.0
Description: This program reads in a log file generated from EverQuest (a
MMORPG) and reports various statistics, mainly the DPS (damage) of various
characters.
I will also attach a small log file that can be used to test.
Normal operation would be opening the log file from within the program, waiting
for it to load and then selecting the various fights in the leftmost list and
seeing the stats on the different tabs.
Latest operation in git wine is the file never completes loading.

The crash happens when Wine tries to copy lpszText, which is 0xFFFFFFFF.

Summary: Protection ID: Text from 3rd column in protection

Product: Wine
Version: 1.3.19
Platform: x86-64
URL: http://pid.gamecopyworld.com/ProtectionID_v6.4.0.rar
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor

ReportedBy: asb(a)asbradbury.org
Created an attachment (id=34490)
--> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=34490)
shows lack of text in third column under wine
After scanning a .exe in Protection ID (I'm using 6.4.0) it will add an entry
to a table in the 'Protection Report'. Under wine, this is not rendered
properly and the text from the third ('Protection') column is not displayed. I
attached screenshots to show the difference on wine vs Win7, scanning the same
file. To reproduce you just need to click 'Scan->Single file' then select a
protected .exe (any .exe from a Steam game for instance), and then click the
icon to show the protection report. There are no relevant complaints on the
terminal output.
I have confirmed this bug with wine 1.3.19 (from the ubuntu-wine ppa) and a
self-built 1.2.3, using a fresh wineprefix.

The dialog keeps coming up multiple times, not sure if you can play by
just clicking ok over and over, it's quite annoying.
winetricks msxml3 doesn't help, but winetricks msxml4 does.
Once past startup successfully, you can remove the msmxl4 override,
the game will then start ok; seems this is only needed on first run?

As of glib 2.32.0, a call to g_thread_init(foo), where foo!=NULL is no longer
effective, it just triggers a warning:
GThread-WARNING **: GThread system no longer supports custom thread
implementations.
While I'm not sure this is the reason, a game using gstreamer sounds like a
stuck vinyl record, it does seem this way.
This sort of invalidates most of dlls/winegstreamer/glibthread.c content.

A fullscreen window is ignoring mouse input after TrackPopupMenu().
After I right click on it, the popup menu appers. After I choose an item or

Run Ubuntu 16.04.1 with the Mate 1.16 desktop. The application (ISA v2 from
http://www.scripture4all.org/download/download_ISA2.php) runs fine, only the
window manager in Mate occasionally loses the window completely and I can't get
it back via alt-tab or running the task manager in wine.
I usually have a couple instances of this Wine application running (they sync
together) in one of Mate's virtual workspaces, and often before the window(s)
does it's disappearing act, I will see the application docked in the bottom
panel (window list applet?) along with the other applications from that
workspace even when the Wine application isn't within the current focused
workspace; this shouldn't be.
I posted this to a Mate forum thinking it likely a Mate problem. The advice I
got was to try replacing the 'marco' window manager with 'metacity'. This I
tried without success. Same exact problem. The window managers are clearly
getting confused somehow.
I posted this to one of the help forums at winehq.org and (as well as
suggesting I post here) was directed to enable the Wine virtual desktop via
winecfg and see how the application fared running in such. This I tried. The
application running multiple instances within the Wine virutal desktop runs
we'll say 'okay' (albeit with a quite a performance hit) and the Mate window
manager doesn't seem to lose track of the Wine virutal desktop window like it
was the windows with just the raw apps running.
Any ideas on what might be making the window manager lose track of these
windows and possible mitigation??

So after a previous bug was fixed on this game -
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30269 - I believe, the issue is now
that we have a few items that spin in the game (just cosmetic UI stuff).
In the loading screen we have spinning asteroids, during the game we have icons
like planets and ships in the bottom left corner.
They spin _really_ fast now.
You get an error -
err:ddraw:d3d_device3_GetRenderState Unexpected texture stage state setup,
returning D3DTBLEND_MODULATE - likely erroneous.
That could be related. I'd be happy to provide any debug log requested.
Although I just checked, the demo includes the same problem for the menu screen
asteroids.

I came here from <https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=40044>, all the
details are over there. The short summary is: No application is involved, all
I am doing is
rm ~/.wine/ -rf && time wine echo
This takes more than a minute. I don't have any network printers in the
network I am *currently* connected to, but I do have two network printers set
up in my CUPS. If I am in the network those printers are in, the above
commands takes less than three seconds. When I used to have four network
printers, the command took 2 minutes.
In other words, every network printer set up in CUPS that is not reachable
currently makes wine prefix creation ~30 seconds slower.

--- Comment #16 from Ralf Jung <post+wine(a)ralfj.de> ---
> Another possibility is that there are one or more printers for which cupsGetPPD
fails (and fails after some long timeout). If it does fail then that printer
never gets added to the registry and we therefore try to AddPrinter it every
time we start Wine. A fix for this would be to maintain a blacklist of failing
printers somehow.
One reason for this to fail is that Wine may be trying to access a network
printer that is in a network that's not currently reachable. For example, I do
have some printers from my dayjob office in cups, but I also use the same
laptop at home -- so the office printers will not be reachable when I start
wine while not being in the office.
Somehow, other applications manage to deal with this better. I can open the
print dialogue of LibreOffice or the PDF viewer (Okular, also tried evince)
without noticeable delay even when printers are unreachable; if I then select a
printer that *is* reachable, I never have to wait for the other printers.

I started hacking around dlls/wined3d/resource.c and changed return codes and
commented out some lines. I got rid of the out of memory error, but still the
game/wine returned to some function error invalid call. The console output is
quiet, without some debug flags don't know where that comes from.

Just download and install the program (https://eveiph.github.io/) and try to

When starting without mounted cd it asks for the cd to enter, that part is
working fine, but after that i suppose its trying to show a video sequence

Hello,
I tried to run the game Cry of Fear, which is a free game available on Steam:
http://store.steampowered.com/app/223710/
The game is bundled with a launcher where one can choose the resolution it
should run with. Regardless of the resolution I choose, the game will only run
in 1280x1024.
The launcher starts up the cof.exe like this:
wine cof.exe -basedir cryoffear -game cryoffear -hw -heapsize 1536000 -no3dmenu
-fullscreen -widescreen -w 1280 -h 720
Even when I manually start it like this (without the launcher) it still won't
use the specified resolution. A logfile is attached.

plain terminal output
This is a long-standing issue with the game under Wine (there are references on
AppDB with Wine as old as 0.9.20).
The problem:
In the menus, when you click on an option the previous menu "rolls up" on the
screen and the new menu drops down. In Wine the menu animation is broken: it is
stuck (not redrawing) until you begin to move the mouse.
A sound effect is intended to play when the menu comes down/up (a clashing
sound of swords). The sound is looping while the menu is in stuck state.
So you have to move the mouse constantly to use the menus.
Die by the Sword is quite an oldie game (1998), using Directdraw/DirectX 5(?).
The problem can be reproduced in the demo, too.
Notes when testing with the demo:
1) Set Windows version to Win98 otherwise the game tries to use Glide3D
(crashed for me).
2) You don't have to install the demo just unzip the contents of dbts.zip and
launch the game by WINDIE.EXE

TurboCad 7.1 will not respond to keyboard entry when in drawing mode. Does
respond to some keyboard entry when a pop-up dialog box is being used. Keyboard
entry in drawing mode is usually key shortcuts to things like "snap to grid" so
it may be the program is not accessing the key entry shortcut definitions (I
have no ides how this works inside Turbocad though).

When dragging the window of the Wildstar launcher, it does not follow the mouse
as expected and instead jumps around in erratic fashion. This movement can be
so severe that the window goes out of bounds of the visible displays and
becomes unreachable.
If the window is moved quickly, it will disappear, seemingly as if the program
had crashed, but the process will remain running and prevent any further
instances from opening until the process is forcibly stopped, the prefix
configuration updated, and wineboot has been ran at least once.
This issue occurs in both wine-development and wine-staging. On wine-staging,
CSMT is enabled and GLSL is disabled.

I'm using the latest version of Wine in the development branch (2.0rc6). This
bug occurs on Linux Mint Mate 32-bit. The bug is simple. In the past, when
running any program in a development branch version of Wine, Wine always
prompted me to install gecko and mono when I first run a program.
The prompting is expected behavior: "WineHQ does not at present package
wine-gecko or wine-mono. When creating a new wine prefix, you will be asked if
you want to download those components. For best compatibility, it is
recommended to click Yes here." (Source: https://wiki.winehq.org/Ubuntu)
The instructions from the Gecko wiki page (https://wiki.winehq.org/Gecko) to
manually install Gecko also does not work. The page says to download the .msi
file manually (wine_gecko-2.47-x86.msi in my case) and copy it to
/usr/share/wine/gecko. Not only does the directory wine not exist in /usr/share
in a standard installation of the development branch from PPA (sudo apt-get
install --install-recommends winehq-devel), but even when I create the
wine/gecko directory under /usr/share, copying the .msi file there seems to do
nothing when I run a program in a clean wine prefix.
In other words, gecko can't be installed at all in the latest version of Wine
development branch. The automatic install fails, and so does the manual
install.

I am having the same problem described in the report #34428
I met this bug running League of Legends
While running in full screen, if I try to switch to another window out of the
game the image freezes and I lose control of the game, but still can hear the
sound of the game in progress. When this happens I am required to open a
terminal and kill the process.
This problem does not occur if I keep the wine using the system window manager
to control the window.
But when I do the wine keep using the system window manager, when the game ends
and the game returns from full-screen mode to windowed mode the wine does not
recover control of the keyboard.
I am using Ubuntu 15.10 and the latest version of the wine, but this problem
occurs in other versions of ubuntu and wine.
The debugging mode does not report an error.

When launching the Wildstar executable an error pops up saying "You do not have

If I continue, a wine error (page fault) is produced. Something is preventing
the launcher from detecting that IE is "installed".
Attached is the console paste of all the "fixmes" produced when I click
continue, before the page fault popup is shown. I could post the page fault but
I don't think there's any point? I think it's the amount of IE-related fixmes
that causes the fault.

Two", since it has no updates yet, no dependencies on other content and is
comparably small, thus making its installation the least troublesome.
2.a
Install rFactor2, take a note of where you choose the "Data and Settings
Destination Folder" to be, or make it the same as the "Core Destination
Folder".
2.b
Put your .rfmod file(s) into the "Packages" directory inside the "Data and
Settings Destination Folder".
2.c Change directory to the "Core Destination Folder", run "Core/ModMgr.exe"
and Install the Mod(s)
3. Still in the "Core Destination Folder", run "Core/rFactor2\ Dedicated.exe".
Leave the default settings by clicking the bottom right button in the first 3
windows that appear. Then assign a "Race Name" (top left) on the last dialog
(the one that has "Load Track" written on the bottom right button). Then click
"Load Track"...
Actual Result
The server starts loading but crashes in the process after a short time and the
following message is output on the terminal:
"wine: Unhandled exception 0xc0000417 in thread 29 at address 0x5369bc (thread
0029), starting debugger..."
Also, the crash window of wine titled "Program Error" comes up, but when I
click "Show Details", the window of "rFactor2 Dedicated.exe" is closed
immediately and the window "Program Error Details" pops up but won´t show any
details, it stays at:
"Loading detailed information, please wait..."
Whereas, when after the crash I choose to close the "Program Error" window
there is more information on the terminal, see the attachment.
Expected Result
A running rFactor 2 dedicated server.
Build date & Platform
Build date: 2013-01-19
gcc --version: gcc (Debian 4.7.2-5) 4.7.2
wine --version: wine-1.5.22
Build and run environment is a chroot containing Debian Sid i386, host is
Debian 6.0.6 (Squeeze).
Build dependencies were installed by "apt-get build-dep wine"
Additional information
The program was run semi-successfully already, but I cannot reproduce it
anymore. But even then it crashed more than 75% of the time with the symptoms
described above. When it successfully launched, the server sometimes could not
connect to the matchmaker.
Not knowing, which component ist at fault, I tried a run with
WINEDEBUG=trace+all, but after half an hour and seeing the log grow to more
than 2.2 GB, I gave up.

Hi, this bug relates to running the ipSTAR iUAT configuration program under
wine. The app runs fine on 32 bit i386 with no errors. Running under a 64 bit
architecture it comes up with an error: Debug Assertion Failed. There are
abort, retry and ignore options given. Retry and subsequently show details
gives the backtrace listing attached below. Ignore, followed by OK starts iUAT
normally. Wine is version 1.7.12 64bit.
Can this error be eliminated? Thanks.
Regards, Ainsley

This bug only appear when I plugin my usb mouse, and if I unplug and restart
the application it will behave correctly. No matter virtual/non-virtual desktop
is enabled it's all the same.
My laptop model is Asus Zenbook UX31E-DH72, the usb mouse is Microsoft Arc
Touch.
Replace the directinput dll with the windows one will resolve this, so I
suppose this is directinput related.
All touhou series game is affected. (From th06 to th128..) I don't have more
game to test though..
Some one who have similar problem, though the post is very old:

--- Comment #164 from Aaron Paden <aaronbpaden(a)gmail.com> ---
Correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding of the issue is that it can't be
implemented correctly because ddraw allows you to draw arbitrarily on the
screen, something that doesn't make sense on modern composited environments.
IIRC from what I've read in the past, old display servers were implemented as a
single framebuffer, and applications had access to a small portion of that
framebuffer (that's why we have an Expose event in X11).
Nowadays, applications draw on their own framebuffer. Even if the wine devs
tried to implement this "correctly", it would be impossible on composited
desktops or in Wayland.
However, is there any reason this can't be implemented correctly for virtual
desktops, at least for older Windows versions?
Actually, I think the virtual desktop windows aren't as decoupled from the
underlying display server as I'd hope. Fullscreen applications still make
xrandr calls, for example, and I've noticed bugs where applications can escape
the virtual desktop.
