The instruction in question is

This does not appear to be the same bug as bug #31518 which crashes due to a
page fault, and only due to a specific graphics setting. Here the executable
crashes early enough that attempting to run the setup produces the same error.
I run 32-bit wine on 64-bit Kubuntu 16.04 with Intel integrated graphics.

the color is light grey instead of the standard Windows blue. When shifting

off before the end. When shifting focus back to the score window and shifting
focus to the input window a second time, the title bar becomes black, still
with white characters cut off before the end. When shifting focus back and
forth between input window and score window new "color configurations" appear
in the input window.

The rasapi32:rasapi test causes the w864 to freeze if it is configured for VNC
access:
<graphics type='vnc' port='-1' autoport='yes'/>
The workaround is to configure it for Spice access:
<graphics type='spice' autoport='yes'/>
Notes:
* In both cases it does not matter if a client is connected to the VM or not
(usually no client is connected while the tests are running).
* Strangely enough the 32 bit Windows 8 VM (wtbw8) is not impacted: it is still
configured for VNC but is able to run all the Wine tests, including
rasapi32:rasapi (13 tests executed, 0 failures).
* Both the 32 and 64 bit rasapi32:rasapi must be causing a crash since there
was no test results for either bitness before the VM configuration was changed
to Spice.
Todo:
1) Report this QEMU issue if it has not been reported yet.
2) Check whether it also happens on my TestBot rig.
3) Narrow down which part of rasapi32:rasapi causes the freeze.
4) Record the relevant QEMU bug(s) here so we can keep track of them.

eventlog.c:1221: Test failed: Expected success, got 5
eventlog.c:1225: Test failed: Expected ERROR_ALREADY_EXISTS, got 5
This can typically be seen on the fg-win7u64-1spie9adm and fg-win7u64-1spie9usr

Llamasoft's Space Giraffe (demo currently available at
http://minotaurproject.co.uk/downloads/SpaceGiraffeSetup105.zip) is perfectly
playable, but the text between levels (where the game gives your rating, among
other things) is unreadable. This also affects some text in the level selection
screen (with the levels' names), and other text effects during actual gameplay.
Text in menus is fine; the problematic text uses some scaling effects that
don't work in Wine.
I'm testing it in 1.7.13, but this is an old bug (affecting 1.6.x as well, and,
according to the AppDB, even older versions). Note that this isn't related to
bug #32876, which actually rendered the game mostly unplayable, and was
apparently fixed in 1.5.29.

console output of failing "make chain.ok"
chain.c:4424: Test failed: stanfordPolicyCheckWithMatchingName[0](#0004):
expected 00000000, got 800b0109
(see full output attached)
Tried to isolate the problem:
- An Debian Wheezy chroot succeeds on this test
- An Debian Jessie chroot fails also on this test
Tested to upgrade the ca-certifactes package with available versions
from snapshot.debian.org:
- Last succeeding version was ca-certificates_20130906_all.deb
- First failing version is ca-certificates_20140223_all.deb
Between this version some certificates were dropped.
Tried removing certificates one by one which were shown removed by "debdiff".
This leads to:
Entrust.net_Secure_Server_CA.crt
Adding this certificate in the Debian Jessie chroot made the test succeed
again.

Since the commit below, the my Windows 8 Acer laptop has a new test failure:
bcrypt.c:794: Test failed: got 638
See:
https://test.winehq.org/data/tests/bcrypt:bcrypt.html
Note that since the failure does not happen when I boot it under Windows 8.1
and that, as far as I know, I am the only one to run the tests on Windows 8
rather than Windows 8.1 (*), this is probably tied to that specific Windows
version, even more so since the test seems to be pretty dependent on the
Windows version already.
See:
https://test.winehq.org/data/80d2edd5845c09b98cb5b6b7779b4455dfbc1095/index…
(*) The TestBot's two Windows 8 VMs have been upgraded to Windows 8.1.
cw1-hd6800 and cw2-gtx560 only have Windows 8.1 to start with (otherwise they
would have a Windows 8 disk image and I'd have added it to the daily tests).

Can someone help installing the Codec? I tried to install it but the error-msg

Right-clicking on panel tabs results in an error:
Control 'View37980768' has no parent window at 0052AA9F.
DXP.EXE, Base Address: 00400000.
Installation:
Altium requires a trial login (30-day) that is sent via email. Request it
from:
http://www.altium.com/free-trial
You'll get an Altium login (evaluser(a)altium.com) and links to the installer
download page and license file (license not needed for triggering the bug).
WINEARCH='win32' wineboot
wintricks -q dotnet40 mdac28 corefonts
wine AltiumDesignerSetup_16_0_5.exe
During setup the login dialog will be presented behind the splash screen.
Alt-Space, M and move it or whatever you need to get around the Z-axis problem.
I normally install everything but the defaults are probably sufficient. It
will then download (>1GB) and install it.
When starting the app you may get a series of DLL load failure dialogs caused
by a dependency problem with the "Sources Links" feature. Just hit Enter a
bunch of times until the main app loads. Skip the USB JTAG driver prompt (has
no effect regardless of response).
The main app will open the administration page where the license key file can
be loaded for activation. Subsequent executions will load a
trial/news/whatever web page (uses Gecko).
There will be a floating window with panels for Storage Manager, Messages,
Output, and To-Do. There are two ways to open or close these - via the panel
menus in the lower-right corner of the main app window (System, etc.), and by
right-clicking their tabs in the floating window. The panels can also be
dragged and docked in various locations in the main app window.
Bug:
Right-clicking the tabs to close them triggers the bug (may be a slight delay
initially). An "Information" progress dialog is momentarily shown followed by
the error dialog. The error is not fatal but if the error dialog loses focus
it is impossible to regain it and the DXP.exe process has to be terminated to
exit.
Related:
This may be another manifestation of bug #13183 since Altium also uses
DevExpress (…/drive_c/Program
Files/Altium/AD16/System/DotNet/DevExpress.14.2.7/). There's also bug #33235
that affects tab controls but I don't know if it applies here.

dump during installation
Downloaded winehq-stagin-1.9.23.pkg and installed without incident (I'm new to
Wine)
Then, double-clicked the Mastercook 15 install file, and Wine initiated the
installation as expected.
Allowed Wine to download and install Mono and Gecko.
Then the installer actually began. I accepted the end user license agreement,
left it to install the complete default setup type, and the installation
appeared to be going normally and well.
A notifier window was displayed "Finalizing install. Please Wait..."
Then a program error window appeared "The program Mastercoon15.exe has
encountered a serious problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the
inconvenience." Below, it added "This can be caused by a problem in th
eprogram or a deficiency in Wine. You may want to check the Application
Database for tips about running this application." (I already know it's not in
the database). I showed the details and saved them (they're attached below),
and clicked ok.
Installation then appeared to continue and I saw a window telling me that the
Installshield Wizard has successfully installed Mastercook 15. Click Finish to
exit the wizard." I unchecked the box to create a desktop shortcut, and
continued.
A 2nd Program error notifier window was displayed giving me the same message
that was previously displayed. Again, I clicked to view the details, saved
them, and then clicked close to continue. I can't attach a 2nd attachment to
this message but will submit a follow-up part 2 bug report with it.
Next, I was told by Mastercook that it requires Quicktime ot play movie files,
and I clicked ok.
The install appeared to finish without incident.
Then I attempted to run Mastercook, and saw the same notifier window for a
Program Error for the 3rd time - again I saved the details and clicked ok.
Again, will submit that dump in part 3.
This is a program I've been using in Windows, updating as needed, for 20 years,
so I know the program works. It's just getting it to work on the new Mac
that's been an issue. I'm happy to help in any other way I can, but I haven't
been a developer for a very long time, and never on the Mac. There appears to
be no problem with any other application on the Mac - just getting this to run.
Thank you in advance for your help with this problem.

This Sega Saturn emulator crashes with a UnlockRect() error. Can sometimes be

In order to get to the unlockrect message, the DirectX SDK needs to be

I had launched the Battle.net using wine64. After the error, I tried launching

When trying to run the Xilinx Vivado 2014.4 web installer, the program crashes
shortly after startup. A look at the log output suggests the installer is
calling systeminfo and piping the output to findstr to get the OS version.
However, findstr is a stub, and so outputs nothing to stdout.
I have filed the systeminfo stub as a separate bug report (42027)

The editor from the shareware game N-Ball only shows a blackscreen, but the log
doesn't tell much and it doesn't crash.
That said, the program at least seems to work. I took an apitrace, and after
replay I found that the framebuffer showed the actual window, it just wasn't
displayed for some reason.
Tested on Arch with both 1.9.12 and the most recent git version.

The game loads to the main menu, but when I start a new game (or the tutorial
in the demo version) I'm getting only a black screen although the game seems to
be running because I can hear audio from the game.
Alt-tabbing back and forth doesn't resolve the problem, but if I switch to
another workspace in XFCE and switch back to the game, then the screen is
displayed correctly.
Actually, I have this problem with some other games as well: Planescape:Torment
shows the same behaviour when I try to save the game, the screen is not
refreshing in the save game dialogue.
Atlantis III also has a similar problem: after playing the intro video, the
screen remains frozen (until I switch workspaces back and forth).
According to my testing, the problem in those games was introduced by
commit 973de3f59c7d47602fe68c8cecf8fc3dbc59bcff
Author: Stefan Dösinger <stefan(a)codeweavers.com>
Date: Thu Oct 15 22:41:12 2015 +0200
wined3d: Pass a context to surface_load_location.
The commit can't be reverted, but the games work properly with the previous
commit.
I can't reproduce the problem with Nvidia binary driver 340.96.
Stefan, could you please check whether it is present with other gpus/drivers?
To reproduce the problem in Battle Realms demo:
1. Install and start the demo. You can skip the intros by pressing <Space>. In
the main menu select <New Game>, choose <Tutorials> and select one of the
available missions. When the map is loaded (sound begins to play) the screen
remains black here.

backtrace when WineExplorer crashes.
BrainExplorer2 can be installed, and can be started.
The first thing it will ask you is to download up to for atlases of size 30-110
MB. For testing, it is sufficient to download the smallest.
When the atlas is downloaded, and should be loaded, the BrainExplorer2 crashes
(see attached backtrace). The crash can be avoided when starting BrainExplorer2
is prefixed with
WINEDEBUG=warn+heap
This is reproducible and happens when any of the 4 atlases is selected. It
happens also on different wine versions (1.6.2, 1.8-rc3) and also when
WINEARCH="win32" is set.
I'm surprised by this "hack", because I thought WINEDEBUG would only affect the
debugging, and not the memory management itself.

Sample terminal output from a prefix set to Windows 7 mode
I am not sure if this will be considered a valid bug report but GOG Galaxy has
issues when attempting to start it on any version of Windows besides XP.
The issue here is manifold:
1. Windows-only games that are 64-bit only with no 32-bit version are becoming
more and more common. This makes it impossible for users to use certain online
features within the game such as uploading discoveries because the online
portion requires GOG Galaxy to be present and running.
2. The 64-bit version of Windows XP has never received Service Pack 3 and GOG
Galaxy requires, at minimum, Windows XP SP3.
Here's one scenario I have tried to make Galaxy run in a 64-bit Windows 7
install:
1. Run winetricks vcrun2010 vcrun2012 vcrun2013 in Windows 7 mode.
2. Switch the prefix to Windows XP mode then run winetricks vcrun2015 to get
around the issue with Windows 7 mode and the lack of a working Windows Upgrade
Service in the non-Staging version of Wine.
3. Install GOG Galaxy afterwards in Windows 7 mode.
4. Attempt to run "wine GalaxyClient.exe"
I am not sure if this issue is caused by running "winetricks vcrun2015" in
Windows XP mode and then switching to Windows 7 mode as I've used this
workaround to work around VC2015 issues with UE4 games that require Windows 7
and above in order to run.
I have tried starting GOG Galaxy with and without "winetricks vcrun2010
vcrun2012 vcrun2013" ("winetricks vcrun2015" is always needed for now so very
attempt at me running GOG Galaxy will have this winetrick performed). I have
also attempted to run Galaxy in Vista, 8, 8.1 modes and nothing works.
Is there anything I am missing and is there anything I can do to help get it
running in a 64-bot prefix?

Details for crash (single player).
Soldier of Fortune II - Double Helix crashes at startup. It happens for both,
single player and multiplayer executables. NoCD-patch did not help. Same with
compatibility modes.
In AppDB, one of the users had found a workaround for SoF II multiplayer.
Details:
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=1116
I can not get the game work with the guide. With it, on my PC, Wine only tries
to run the multiplayer, but will never reach the main menu.
Closed bugs do not show a similar issue reported before. The game is also
broken with Wine. 1.4.

I took into consideration the advice that you gave me but this morning with the

The program either does not install correctly or does not start.
I have tried everything including installing it with reactos (last testing

I can send you the program on a donwload adress if it is possible.
It would be very easy for you to test it and understand the problem
Very sincerely

Tested on wine-1.7.22 and 1.8 rc2
Steps to replicate are
1, open two wine notepads and place them side by side
2, click the left one, hold shift and type ABC
3, while holding shift, click the right notepad window then release shift
4, type def then select the left notepad
5, type ghi
The expected results is for the left window to contain ABCghi and not ABCGHI
Interestingly it only happens with two wine windows, attempting to replicate it
with gedit in the right position, or any other for that matter behaves as
expected, this also affects control and alt keys.

This is probably a duplicate of one of the existing bugs related to Unreal4
engine games, but I can't decide which one applies: bug #40925, bug #40938 or
bug #41087.
I tried the patch from bug #40925 but it didn't change anything, even the
backtrace remained the same.
Here I'm attaching both the backtrace (obtained from the minidump file
generated by the game) and the terminal output.
The game named Kholat, I have the GOG.com version. The game crashes somewhere
during the loading stage.
I'm using a 32-bit wine build, Windows 7 profile is selected, virtual desktop

Every time after updating wine through my distro's (Arch) repository, wine will
"update the configurations". This also means that wine will reset the symlinks
in the user's folder (drive_c/users/[username]). For example, "My Documents".
I do not want wine apps to pollute my home folder (this is were "My Documents"
and other symlinks usually point to). And i want all my WINEPREFIXEs to use a
common "My Documents" folder, which is not ~/ .
That's fine, so i just symlink "My Documents" to somewhere else.
But after each update Wine deletes my symlink and creates it's own symlink to
~/ again.
Why? Is that really necessary? This seems trivial to fix, so unless there is
some exotic issue preventing this to be changed, i really do not understands
why this has to happen every time.

Might and Magic Heroes VI displays the character polygons poorly. This hinders
gameplay, because you see only part of your characters on the map or on the
battlefield. A screenshot of the paladin character in the main menu is attached
as an example.
This looks similar to a wine bug for The Witcher, see
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12771#c18 and comment 19, the screenshot
attached by Kevin Meyer. This does not seem to be a duplicate however, as the
original bug describes a bunch of graphic issues specific to The Witcher.

After updating to .18 or .19 I can paste native to wine or wine to wine, but
not wine to native unless unformatted text (e.g. from wine notepad).
This behaviour is consistent across all the office2007 apps & can be fixed by
downgrading to 1.9.17.
How can I investigate this regression further?

So the latest apidiffs are 7 years old. The ticket not seem to be a bug of the
wine code but a testing infrastructure that did not find its way into the
official tree or on the CI test server. Why don't you put the code on github
and close the bug?

I was able to install the required MS .NET 3.5 when the 1.6 version of Wine was
released. Since then I was able to use this app, but it crashes and freezes
very often (about 5-10 minutes after startup).
I am running this on Ubuntu 12.04 and I tried Wine 1.6 and Wine 1.7.0 (however,
my Wine Configuration 'about' tab says I still run 1.6, did I do something
wrong?)
as said before, the only requirement to run the app is MS .NET 3.5 (I installed
MS .NET 3.5 SP1 using Winetricks)
The app can be downloaded from: http://masterplan.habitualindolence.net/
You need to click the 'download' tab on the left and download Masterplan. You
get the most recent version from this site (11.11).
Someone from the WineHQ Forum also advised me to run memtest, since I get
errors about possibly corrupt memory, but it came out clean.
If I need to give more information, please let me know! In advance; thanks for
the help!

This is a VPN client from Palo Alto Networks ("GlobalProtect"). The program
starts up and the GUI window appears, but when trying to connect to VPN it
crashes and says the "serious problem..." message.
I realize nobody else in the wine community probably uses this program, and
it's not a free download, so you probably cannot run it. But I thought
something from the backtrace might jump out at you.
This has never worked in wine as far as I know, since 1.4/1.6 til now.
Program names are pangpa.exe and pangps.exe

Source of program that demonstrates this bug. Only compiles with mingw due to
use of asprintf().
For simplicity's sake (and especially since I'm now going to need to make them
transparent...), my tab apges are all children of the tab control itself.
Because WS_TABSTOP and WS_EX_CONTROLPARENT are mutually exclusive, my tab
controls enable the latter before calls to IsDialogMessage() and enable
WS_TABSTOP after calls to IsDialogMessage(). The attached program is a basic
example with a tab that parents an edit control.
In wine, if you click the sole tab or press Tab while focused on the edit
control, you will notice that wine seems to stall for a few seconds, then the
tab receives focus and the edit disappears. If you press Tab again, the edit
reappears.
On both Windows XP 32-bit and Windows 7 64-bit, both with and without a
comctl32.dll v6 manifest, the focus switch happens instantly and the edit does
not disappear.
Using wine-1.7.22 from the official Wine PPA and a 64-bit WINEPREFIX
(apparently) on Ubuntu 14.04.
Thanks!

Wine implements cards.dll here and uses bmp files
http://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git/tree/HEAD:/dlls/cards
The Microsoft cards.dll comprises 68 bmp images and plus a few legacy images
(ID:678-684) missing in wine.
Reactos has a different implementation which appears to support different card
decks (default and bavarian):
https://github.com/reactos/reactos/blob/master/reactos/dll/win32/cards/
If the topic under discussions is theming of cards.dll the easiest way would be
to build an alternative cards.dll with another deck of bmp files.

So I have a folder with the latest git version of Wine and I ran this command

After I enter the command and ./configure starts running I get the error below

Wine color theme used in the screenshots
I have configured my copy of wine to use colors as similar as possible to my
dark GTK theme (which is basically Adwaita Dark). I was hoping to achieve
modestly 3D-ish look, so I configured colors appropriately using buttons as
reference. I'm attaching my theme as a registry file.
However, I noticed a few inconsistencies in how Wine uses these colors when
drawing borders.
Particularly:
1. the bottom and right borders of sunk-in elements such as combo boxes, text
fields, checkbox fields, radio buttons, notepad text editor widget, various
lists (such as file and folder listing in File/Open dialog), slider bars and
probably others have their two colors mixed up.
2. top and left borders of some embossed elements, most notably, the scrollbar
buttons and thumbs, and drop-down list buttons have their two colors mixed up.
3. top and left borders of Window drop-down menus have their two colors mixed
up.
4. Menu bar color is not used for menu bar. Instead, menu background color is
used (which I suppose is meant for drop-down menu backgrounds).
5. I'm not sure if named widget groups such as ones in winecfg tabs are
supposed to look embossed or not, but they certainly do not.
I'll be attaching a few screen shots shortly, depicting status quo on the left
and desired looks on the right.

Still valid wine 2.0rc5. I think there is another bug report about this issue.
I did the test with winecfg. Opened a windows version field and then moved the
whole window.

Browse dialog - native vs builtin comctl
After working around Bug #33859, another difference between builtin and native
comctl becomes apparent. With native there are 4 options to choose in the
Browse dialog - File system, Local IIS, FTP site, Remote site. With builtin
only File system is available. See attached screenshots.
To reproduce:
- work around bug 33859
- install Visual Web Developer Express 2008 (test result contains quite good
instructions:

Wine crashes when selecting text in the DK editor and trying to copy it to the

This behavior started with wine 1.9.19, all versions up to 2.0-rc2 are
affected.
I could track down the problem to the call of IDataObject_Addref(data) in
function set_src_dataobject of clipboard.c in dlls/ole32.

Start PAF, and go to the "Family" view.
Open any dialog in PAF, or any other application that makes a new top level
window. When moving that window around, it leaves trails of itself on the
family view in PAF. I have to minimize PAF and restore it or equivalent to get
the window to refresh itself.
If you move the window slowly, one pixel at a time, it doesn't happen.
I put some printouts in X11DRV_Expose() and BeginPaint() and noticed that when
the two are called in turn, things are fine. If X11DRV_Expose is called twice
or more before BeginPaint() for the family view, the trails start showing up.

Summary: Adobe Acrobat Pro 7 -- Comments don't work
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.56.
Platform: Other
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: jens(a)porup.com
Before I report this bug, a HUGE thanks to everyone for getting Acrobat Pro 7
to install!! I now have 80-90% functionality in Linux. Yay!
Now, the bug:
The Comment fields do not work properly. First, when I open an existing pdf
document with Comments, and click on the Comments tab at the bottom left corner
of the screen, the text of the existing comments is not shown. (The username is
shown, but not the comment.) Hovering the mouse cursor over the comment does
bring a popup yellow window that reveals the comment.
Also, creating a new comment fails. It creates the comment, but the text is not
saved, so when you go back to the comment you just created, the text has
vanished. This is obviously a show stopper for those of us who need to use the
comments functionality.
happy to provide debug logs, please let me know what command line switches will
be most useful in this instance.
cheers!

Possible bug?
Diablo III has just recently updated to 2.4.3 and aside from the d3d issue
forcing users to downgrade from 64 bit to 32 bit version I have encountered an
issue and I'm curious if anybody else has as well. It's random when it strikes
but happens every time I play since the update. When I right click to channel
a spell or click and hold to move it seems as though the click is released. If
moving the point of the click is where your character walks to and then stops
and you have to click and hold again. When channeling you right click and hold
and it shoots a burst then just stops. I did not have this issue before until
Diablo upgrade to 2.4.3. Just curious if anybody else is experiencing it or
has a solution. There is no error that pops up it just happens and affects
quality of game play.

explorer log
Resizing wine explorer flickers when you try to resize it. winefile also
flickers noticeably, but it isn't nearly as bad.
I can confirm this on both GNOME/Mutter and Openbox with no compositor.
