wine eccoext.exe output
Ecco Pro 4.01 only works on Wine 1.6.2 and fails to run on any later version.
Installation instructions for getting a static installation of ecco pro is
here:
http://nixplayground.blogspot.ca/2015/02/installing-ecco-pro-401-in-linux-u…
I have run through eccoext.exe and ecco32.exe on later versions and they fail
in all cases.
I have tested on the following systems:
* Ubuntu 14.04.4 x64
* Ubuntu 15.10
* Opensuse 42.1
I will attach the outputs for each of the following tests:
1) % wine eccoext.exe --> eccoext_output.txt
2) % winedbg ecco32.exe --> ecco32_output.txt
Test 3) % wine ecco32.exe just results in a dialog "An application error has
occurred. Please exit Ecco and restart"

I've debugged it on two computers under Wine and under XP. PageMaker starts
to behave really weird when it doesn't detect support for some of the needed
postscript escapes.
Attached patch allows PageMaker 6.5 print images. The only thing which needs
to be figured out (commented out in the patch) is the pass-through mode.

In Skyrim, the Bethesda intro does have sound, but nothing afterwards. No
music, no menu sounds, no game sound.
It USED TO WORK for years, up until a few weeks ago when I last played. Then
today I tried to play again, and it doesn't work now.
I did not change anything on my system or in my Skyrim, apart from doing
regular system updates.
I have:
- verified game cache
- updated and rebooted my system
- reinstalled everything with winetricks that was installed before
- installed xact via winetricks
- reinstalled DirectX from game's directory
- removed intro video file
- toggled Wine from XP mode to Win 7 mode
- made sure Wine uses pulseaudio
- made sure speakers in Wine are set to stereo and not 5.1
None of these made a difference.
Arch Linux 64 bit
wine-1.7.53-2
alsa 1.0.29-1
pulseaudio 7.0-2
pulseaudio-alsa 2-3
Steam is under a 32 bit wineprefix.

As pointed from comment 52 onwards this bug is fixed, I can reproduce the
original issue in wine 1.6 and no longer in wine 1.9.7.
The colors are wrong as in attachment 29576. But I will open a new bug for
that.

The installer hangs at somepoint like before when I tested it. Last lines are
jscript related.
wine 1.9.7.
But with winetricks -q ie8 and wine-staging I was able to go forward and login
into an account that I have made before. It goes forward but it crashes at
somepoint and the location is to my understanding related to msi.
I dont know if this install is fully working because of the crash, trying to
run the coreldraw it complains something about registery key not set and the
something about your locale. And it fails to start.
So I think there are at least 2 bugs blocking installing this software.

Well the issue is "psexec from pstools doesn't work", and PsExec still doesn't
work despite the implementation of mpr.WNetAddConnection2W, so I suggest the
issue be kept open and renamed.

Using a program published by the Milec company I discovered that a
functionality did not work correctly with Wine .
According to the editor, it is the function used by Windows "SetFilePointer"
which does not detect an anomaly whereas and with wine the software is blocked.
I am surprised because wine functions very well with a large number of programs
and this software uses only basic functions of Windows.
Thank you very much for the interest which you will carry to this anomaly
Very sincerely

Summary: Wine fails to handle EWOULDBLOCK return from sendmsg
Product: Wine
Version: 1.7.24
Hardware: x86

Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: critical
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
Reporter: carson(a)taltos.org
On Solaris 11.2, launching any application via "wine c:\somepath\foo.exe"
frequently fails, printing the following errors:
sendmsg: Resource temporarily unavailable
sendmsg: Resource temporarily unavailable
Protocol error: process 000c: Protocol error: process 000
Debugging, I find these errors come from 2 different places. Fixing both makes
wine run reliably.
server/request.c
dlls/ntdll/server.c
The fix for ./dlls/ntdll/server.c is easy, just add EWOULDBLOCK to the EINTR
case that's already present.
dlls/ntdll/server.c requires the addition of a loop around sendmsg as well as
handling the non-fatal EWOULDBLOCK (and it should probably retry EINTR as
well).
I can generate patches if desired, but the fixes are fairly obvious.

WNetAddConnection2W is implemented, I suggest to close this one and open a new

related to the use of 2007 office products and it seems that this could be
related to gdi32.
I tested Word 2007 with and without dll overrides. The results are the same.
Full log, sample .docx file and screenshot of the crash are attached to this
bug report.
Word complains ogl.dll is crashing. I also tried to update ogl.dll but results
are the same.
Thank you for your time.
Best regards.

Adobe Postscript driver is a separate product and it's not a part of PageMaker.

Use File=>Place to place an image. I used one of the .tifs from the Tutorial,
but I don't remember if the demo has a Tutorial. Note that PageMaker doesn't
support a lot of image formats that are common today.

I've been working with PageMaker (and pre-press in general) many years
starting from Aldus PageMaker 4.2, that was my day job. PageMaker never
shipped Postscript drivers, and it worked perfectly well with not Postscript
drivers, it just doesn't support color separation in that mode. InDesign is
a very different application, with very different requirements and abilities.

I'm not convinced it's a Wine insufficiency. Pagemaker in its day was
professional software, with features meant for commercial printing presses. It
includes postscript printer drivers from Adobe because the Windows drivers
(even the ones from printer manufacturers) were inadequate. Those drivers can't
be installed in Wine, but even if they could, there are no Adobe drivers for
Pagemaker for any printer created in this millenium. That caused problems in
Windows XP and later, too. Adobe's response was to tell people to upgrade to
InDesign.

Don't worry, I'm not going to run through bugzilla closing bugs just because
the app is old. But it's up to people who really want a bug kept open to keep
it updated. The backtrace I attached yesterday should be enough to keep this
zombie shuffling along for at least a couple years; after that, someone else
will need to take up the gauntlet.

There is a noticeable lag when you pick up a puzzle piece and move it across
the screen. If you switch to another window then switch back to the
application, the refreshing of the app window is also much slower than on
Windows (I've tried the app in WinXP running under Virtualbox).
As a workaround, using native msvfw32.dll improves the situation a lot.
It seems the preview window has the most impact on the issue: try to minimize
it and you'll see that the lagging issue improved somewhat.
The application can be downloaded from the URL linked above. It doesn't require
installation and it has a size of only a few hundred kilobytes.

Um, my PageMaker 6.5 cd has a folder call PSDriver, and the README in that
folder says "This folder contains the files needed to install the Adobe
PostScript driver version 4.1.1. This driver is the latest version available as
of November 1996."
BTW, I, too, started using PageMaker before Adobe gobbled up Aldus, and used it
off and on it for years as part of my day job.

Summary: Elder Scrolls Online: Login connection issues
Product: Wine
Version: 1.9.3
Hardware: x86-64
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
Reporter: amgeddis(a)msn.com
Distribution: ---
Disclosure: I am using Wine-staging 1.9.3
Since patch 2.2.11 on 2/8/2016 Elder Scrolls Online cannot be played in WINE.
Logging in usually works but trying to load a character either results in
1. The animation icon eventually freezing and the app hanging
or
2. Getting booted back to the login screen with the error: "An error has
occurred. Please try again in a few minutes". All subsequent logins after the
error message give the error code 301 which according to the codes sheet
means:"Lobby connection failed"
When logging in doesn't work there is only error code 301.
Steps to recreate: Run Bethesda.net_Launcher.exe, hit "Play", log into
account, select "Play" below the character.
Game used to play great with 32-bit prefix, corefonts, and vcrun2013 installed.
Tried creating clean new prefixes in both 32-bit and 64-bit but neither worked
with or without corefonts and vcrun2013 also installed.
On the Elder Scrolls Online forums there are three other WINE users that have
come out and said they've had the same problem since patch 2.2.11 and
contacting the developer Zenimax Online support only gave back generic messages
of "We do not support Linux".
One of the other WINE users also said they have the same problem in their
Windows dualboot installation as well.
There are also several other Windows users on the Elder Scrolls Online forums
complaining of the same problem and all still report this being a problem for
them.

I'm porting a windows app to Wine (using WineLib) and I found some small
problems in some header files in Wine (that contain different values from the
corresponding Windows header files).
To be able to compile on C++ I did also change some header files.
>From my point of view these are small typos problems (see attachment)
I hope this to be enough!

The commit below introduced 4 new test failures but only in the Windows XP SP2
+ Internet Explorer 7 case (fg-winxp-2spie7 VM).
By very specific I mean that:
* Windows XP SP2 + IE 6 has no failure because IE 6 is too old (fg-winxp-2sp).
* Windows XP SP2 + IE 7 has the 4 extra failures for a total of 28
(fg-winxp-2spie7).
* Windows XP SP3 + IE 7 has the same 24 failures as before the commit
(fg-winxp-3sp).
* Windows XP SP3 + IE 8 has no failures at all (fg-winxp-3spie8).
All four new failures are identical to the one below, in particular due to the
line number being meaningless:
xmlhttprequest.c:551: Test failed: Expected enabled:
(INTERFACESAFE_FOR_UNTRUSTED_CALLER | INTERFACESAFE_FOR_UNTRUSTED_DATA |
INTERFACE_USES_SECURITY_MANAGER), got 0x00000003
Given the existing failures it might make sense to skip all 28 tests on IE < 8.

I tried to install the generic drivers for the printer specified above through
the tool embedded in my OS (Ubuntu 14.04 LTS) but after the installation the
printer doesn't work, so I decided to use Wine to run the setup.exe file
directly from CD. Even in this case I could not end the installation process
due to a crash whose details are reported in the attached file. I hope you will
find out a solution soon, thanks

I just shortly tried the demo with both wine-git and wine-staging 1.9.6 and
Both have the same behaviour that the demo doesnt seem to start, but If I
alt+tab few times I am able to enter the game menu. Maybe I just don't wait
enough? I don't have the full game to test.

Yes (though I'm not certain they are in bitmap format, but that's likely).

Correct. Older games do not embed their own, e.g., see
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_8-gaming/installi…
I seem to recall some older version of windows sharing cards between Freecell
and Solitare, but I can't verify that now.

Summary: ws2_32: getaddrinfo edge cases broken on OS X
Product: Wine

Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: winsock
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org

getaddrinfo() responds differently to edge cases on Windows, Linux and OS X;
notably, the Winsock incarnation accepts more combinations of null/empty
host/port strings than the others do. Some steps to resolve the issues this
creates for Wine clients have been made in commits 75be2284 and 8e5d5bf5.
Unfortunately, the current implementation (1.4-rc1, Git f0cfa7cf) does not work
on OS X, because the host part of the FQDN of the local machine usually doesn't
resolve. The attached patch fixes this issue and another difference in behavior
between Winsock/Windows and Wine/OSX.
While tracking this down, I compared a number of param/flag combinations; the
detailed results are at
http://klickverbot.at/blog/2012/01/getaddrinfo-edge-case-behavior-on-window….

Instant crash when trying to run with pure wine. The installer starts with
wine-staging 1.9.6. I applied WM_CTLCOLOR fix and it starts to work with
wine-git with the patch. So it's dupe.
But installer gives an error that it can't contact some server(s). A new bug or
closed server? I don't know if the original issue can be reproduced anymore.

When you have a slow internet connection and are creating a new prefix and
gecko/mono are not cached yet the function __wine_kernel_init boot will print
its timeout error in the console and go on even while the download is still in
progress clearly indicating that the prefix creation did not finish yet.
I understand that __wine_kernel_init is probably not aware of the download but
anyway wine should not ignore that the download is still running and conclude
wine prefix creation.
To test this I simply created a new prefix (I always do "WINEPREFIX=/path/...
wine winecfg" and then wait for winecfg to appear).

Bug #: 31264
Summary: iTunes will not connect to the iTunes music store
Product: Wine
Version: 1.5.9

Install iTunes 10.6.1 or 10.6.3. The UI is corrupted, but click on the 'iTunes
Store' link in the left-hand pane anyway. iTunes will hang there forever and
never connect to the store. Running network diagnostics results in a message
that says 'Secure Link to iTunes Store failed.' No particularly useful hints
show up on the console and overriding secure32 and/or wininet makes no
difference.

Summary: MinGW binary crashes, but msvc6's one works fine in
function when returning aggregate value
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Hardware: x86

This is very strange bug.
Application (https://github.com/SDLash3D/xash3d) contains function that returns
aggregate value.
It may be built with MinGW or MSVC.
Function is called from msvc code. It works fine in windows with both msvc and
MinGW libraries (that is very strange as gcc has different way of returning
aggregates), but it does not work in wine (causes stack corruption).
Structure and function code
struct pmtrace_s
{
qboolean allsolid; // if true, plane is not valid
qboolean startsolid; // if true, the initial point was in a solid
area
qboolean inopen, inwater; // End point is in empty space or in water
float fraction; // time completed, 1.0 = didn't hit anything
vec3_t endpos; // final position
pmplane_t plane; // surface normal at impact
int ent; // entity at impact
vec3_t deltavelocity; // Change in player's velocity caused by
impact.
// Only run on server.
int hitgroup;
};
static pmtrace_t pfnPlayerTrace(float *start, float *end, int traceFlags, int
ignore_pe)
{
return PM_PlayerTraceExt( svgame.pmove, start, end, traceFlags,
svgame.pmove->numphysent, svgame.pmove->physents, ignore_pe, NULL );
}
Also, application has DLL loader for linux (based on mplayer code)
It has some workaround for this function.
When dll loader used, application export this repacement to API:
#ifdef DLL_LOADER
static pmtrace_t *pfnPlayerTrace_w32(pmtrace_t *trace, float *start, float
*end, int traceFlags, int ignore_pe)
{
*trace = PM_PlayerTraceExt( svgame.pmove, start, end, traceFlags,
svgame.pmove->numphysent, svgame.pmove->physents, ignore_pe, NULL );
return trace;
}
#endif
It works correctly when called from msvc code on linux.
File with function, causing problems:
https://github.com/SDLash3D/xash3d/blob/master/engine/server/sv_pmove.c
MSVC binaries:
https://transfer.sh/8wRoD/xash3d-win.7z
MinGW binary:
https://transfer.sh/par30/xash3d-mingw-16-03-21-12-57.7z
Linux binary:
https://transfer.sh/pmKos/xash3d-linux-16-03-21-12-57.7z
The main question: Why it works correctly in windows and how to workaround this
in wine?

Prison Architect (all versions) ran almost flawlessly in Wine, up to and
including Wine version 1.9.1. However, since the 1.9.2 update, it fails to
launch; throwing this exception:
"wine: Call from 0x7b83ba9c to unimplemented function
shcore.dll.GetDpiForMonitor, aborting
wine: Unimplemented function shcore.dll.GetDpiForMonitor called at address
0x7b83ba9c (thread 0009), starting debugger...
Unhandled exception: unimplemented function shcore.dll.GetDpiForMonitor called
in 32-bit code (0x7b83ba9c)."
And then obviously a lot of debugger information, stacktrace and all.
Research into shcore.dll showed it being used in Windows 8.1+. However, even
with winecfg set to Windows XP, Prison Architect used to run fine. Versions of
Prison Architect I have played extensively using Wine no longer work, at all. I
did make sure to try a specific version of which I know it have worked (GOG
2.1.0.3).

Summary: setcap on wine-preloader makes Hearthstone fail to

Product: Wine

Hi,
When a Linux capability is enabled for wine preloader, Hearthstone does not
start.
This bug at least affects
-------------------------
Archlinux x64/Linux 3.12.6-1-ARCH/Wine 1.7.9/libcap 2.22
Ubuntu 13.10 x64/Linux 3.11.0-14-generic/Wine (PPA) 1.7.9/libcap 2.22
Steps to reproduce
------------------
# setcap 'cap_net_bind_service=+ep' /usr/bin/wine-preloader
$ wine Hearthstone.exe -launch -uid hs_beta
Get a message box that captions "Fatal error in gc" and says "GetThreadContext
failed", click "OK"
Another message box that captions "Wine program crash", and says "Internal
errors - invalid parameters received", click "OK"
The process turns to a zombie, kill it.
Revert the capabilities, the program loads.
# setcap '-r' /usr/bin/wine-preloader
$ wine Hearthstone.exe -launch -uid hs_beta
This issue persists over system reboots.
It's not just setting CAP_NET_BIND_SERVICE causes the problem. From what I
observed, this error occurs as long as any capablity is enabled.
Note on getting debug trace
---------------------------
Right now due to bug #33947, battle.net.exe requires dbghelp to be disabled,
and Hearthstone.exe depends on it in order to play. However, directly running
Hearthstone.exe is good enough to reproduce this bug. So I suggest anyone who
wants to look into this problem to re-enable the debugger and run 'wine
Hearthstone.exe -launch -uid hs_beta' to get a debug trace.

The user interface for PuTTy connection manager does not display correctly
making it a broken application inside of wine.
It is not displaying the far most right window called "Connection Manager" that
displays the list of your saved connections. You should be able to click any
of the connections of which you want to connect, and it would launch a tabbed
putty window.
Most importantly, the putty intergeneration itself is not being displayed
inside of putty connection manager. In the middle of the application you
should be able to have multiple putty windows open that are separated by tabs
and you are able to move them around. (Stacking along side themselves if you
like)
To get a better idea what I mean, it is best to try the program out yourself in
windows where it works flawlessly.
I have tried many things to get this application to work. I installed net 2.0
and msxml6. I saw an xml error inside of the log, after installing msxml6 it
went away, but program did not work any better.
In the options of the program there are multiple interface designs you can use
(more or less skins/themes) like office 2007, system, visual studio 2003,
visual studio 2005. All of them have the same UI bug. I have tried the
standalone app of putty connection manager where you don't have to install
anything, and the installable version.

work in progress MCI parser that knows about 64bit structures
Hi,
Wine's MCI string command parser is one reason why test.winehq.org shows
failures with 64bit machines. I've created this issue so everybody can discuss
and contribute patches until evolution leads to a correct one.
The attached patch fixes part of what's currently in git, but it is still
incomplete. Therefore I don't plan to submit it.
I've run tests on WTB's 64bit machines that proove that MCI_STATUS_PARMS and
MCI_GETDEVCAPS indeeed process differently sized dwReturn types on x64:
DWORD_PTR and DWORD. That's what's missing from my patch.
A solution that sounds ideal is to define something like MCI_INTEGER64 and
change the resource files mciavi_res.rc and winmm_res.rc. Given that new type,
the MCI string parser would compute the correct offset.
I'd be very pleased if somebody could conform that MS does it this way and tell
us the value of this constant.
Another solution path is to special-case MCI_STATUS_PARMS in the parser, as it
uses the only 64bit construct I knew until 5 minutes ago (beside dwCallback of
course) that's not a LP(W)STR. HWND seems to be 32bit.
5 minutes later: What about HDC in MCI_DGV_UPDATE_PARMS? Wait, wtypes.h says
void*! The MCI string command parser needs to handle this type as well:
MCI_INTEGER as currently used in mciav_res.rc is not adequate on 64bit.
In the meantime, I'll submit a patch that adds MCI_HDC and a few other missing
defines I know to the includes.
Regards,
Jörg Höhle

Hi.
Site of program:
http://www.a-pdf.com/security/restrictions_remover.htm
I installed it by Wine on Linux Mint xfce 17.3 x64 bit Live USB OS.
Program working very great & very fine with 100% functionality.
There is only small thing mised.
Look to screen shots (please notice RED MARKERS that I added)
screen shot 1: in Wndows OS, "right click menu" containing 2 options "Remove
Restrictions" & "Remove Restrictions & Save as ...". These 2 loptions added to
"right click menu" after installation of program. Clicking any of them will
lead program to work on PDF without need to re-select it again.
screen shot 2: in Linux OS, no such options ("Remove Restrictions" & "Remove
Restrictions & Save as ..."). There is only one option: "Open with A-PDF
Restrictions Removal". However, using this option is very O.K.
screen shot 3: in Linux OS. Result of step in screen shot 2 above. I can use
both of "1Remove Restrictions" or "Remove Restrictions & Save as ..." without
problem. But I CAN NOT BROWS contents on hard drives of PC !! Only I can brows
contents within Linux on USB !! I have to copy/past pdf from hard drives of PC
to Linux USB to deal with it using this program. This is global bug in all
programs not only in this program.
screen shot 4: show how to generate in windows result that appearing in screen
shot 2.
I ask if you can add "Remove Restrictions" & "Remove Restrictions & Save as
..." options to "right click menu" to be working directly on PDF files without
need to re-selecting it again. Otherwise program work very great.

Crash Log File
In order to get Fallout 3 work with Intel graphic boards, a modified d3d9.dll
file needs to be installed in the game directory:
/Program Files/Bethesda Softworks/Fallout 3/d3d9.dll for the standalone version
of Fallout 3.
/Program Files/Steam/SteamApps/common/Fallout 3 goty/d3d9.dll or
/Program Files/Steam/SteamApps/common/Fallout 3/d3d9.dll for the Steam version
of Fallout 3.
In addition the modified d3d9.dll file needs to get registered in winecfg. Add
"d3d9 (native, builtin)" in the 'Libraries' tab.
The trick worked perfectly fine until Steam released an update on August 19th
2015. With the new Steam version the trick does no longer work. Fallout 3
crashes when starting a new game or loading a save game. Please find the crash
log attached. This is a different crash then the typical "new game crash" that
the d3d9 trick is supposed to solve.
There seems no impact from OS X or Wine engine updates. The standalone version
of Fallout 3 is not affected, the trick still works absolutely fine here.
I did not find any similar reports about Fallout 3 in Steam on Wine under Linux
or natively in Steam on Windows.

Summary: regression: Can't remove fonts: is a directory
(--with-wine64, shared wow64)
Product: Wine
Version: 1.9.5
Hardware: x86-64

Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org

I've updated my git tree with 1.9.5 and now I have this error while
compiling 32bit Wine with the --with-wine64 option (in a shared wow64
setup):
---begin make output---
...
rm -f fonts && ln -s ../1.9.5_wow_64/fonts fonts
rm: impossible de supprimer « fonts »: est un dossier
make: *** [fonts] Erreur 1
...
---end make output---
It says fonts is a directory and can't be removed.
I do out-of-tree builds. The 32bit directory doesn't exists when I run
configure. After running configure, the 32bit build tree is there and
contains a fonts directory with a single Makefile in it.
I had no such error with Wine 1.9.4 and I don't have it when compiling
stand-alone 32bit Wine or the 64bit shared wow part.
I did a regression test and found this commit to be the culprit:

Meanwhile there is double regression as I notice in bug 36548.
First regression was

1.7.54-140-7fbf33f hang at start.
This regression reported and bisecting in 36548.
commit 8cc5b07e9d0aedffd4251d2e8942cb8368920bf8
Second regression
1.7.54-134-gd4664c1 works but hang on exit
1.7.55 not working with the message. See attached screenshot.
This regression I bisecting here. Strange to see this commit as regression.
Analysis.
Then I found a key difference in logs.
Working log contains:
----
fixme:process:GetLogicalProcessorInformationEx (65535,0x9f6048,0x8beb54): stub
----
Non-working
----
fixme:process:GetLogicalProcessorInformationEx (65535,0x0,0x5203e8): stub
----
Note: second argument is ZERO.
3DMark application works in conjunction with Futuremarks SystemInfo (called by
OLE?) and I may propose the SystemInfo calls the function but in second case it
will not allocate buffer for CPU info.
BOOL WINAPI GetLogicalProcessorInformationEx(LOGICAL_PROCESSOR_RELATIONSHIP
relationship, PSYSTEM_LOGICAL_PROCESSOR_INFORMATION_EX buffer, PDWORD pBufLen)
Why? Because there are new stubs?
This procedure should return false if no buffer?
Or this procedure should allocate this buffer?

When trying to enumerate network places in 7z, only the network providers are
enumerated. Then their root directory and shares are not enumerated when
clicking on the network provider.
I could track it to the fact that, on network providers enumeration,
lpRemoteName is set to network provider name (as on Windows) and this makes
enumeration later failing with this network resource. It seems that in this
case, the later call to WNetOpenEnum() doesn't pass the lpRemoteName to the
network provider, to be able to get the root directory of the network provider.
I'll provide a patch in that direction.

Chessmaster 10 (and Chessmaster 11 Grandmaster Edition) do not light chess
pieces correctly. This is most noticable for wooden chess sets (the default).
1. Install the Chessmaster 10 demo from the URL (you may need to be in a 32-bit
WINE environment for the installation to work).
2. Run the configuration program 'cmsettings.exe'.
3. Select 'OpenGL (Low Performance Video Cards)' and save.
4. Run 'game.exe'.
5. Once you've created a user, select the icon left of the rotating chess board
and then select the 'Training Mode' icon.
RESULT: When the chess board is displayed, the pieces are correctly lit (see
OpenGL attachment).
6. Close the Chessmaster demo and re-run 'cmsettings.exe', this time selecting
'Direct3D (Full Effects)', and save.
7. Re-run 'game.exe' and go to the same 'Training Mode'.
RESULT: The chess pieces do not have any lighting on them (see Direct3D
attachment).

Summary: WNASPI32.DLL should migrate to DeviceIoControl()

I would like to suggest to remove from the WNASPI32.DLL implementation in WINE
all references to linux ioctl() and the various conditional code like "#ifdef
linux" and migrate to a plain Windows-like based code, by using
DeviceIoControl() instead for sending SCSI commands.
This change will make possible to write a DLL that will work in other
environment besides linux and it will leave this kind of complexity limited in
NTDLL.
PS: WNASPI32 is missing in the list of components when you file a bug in
bugzilla.

This is a continuation of bug 34446.
I'd like to propose that Wine should never try to load or use builtin fonts
(which don't exactly look nice under certain fontconfig settings, like full
hinting) when native appropriate fonts are present in the system.
Thanks.

Summary: Tide prediction cursor popup or tag creates "Untitled

Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.57.
Platform: PC

OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: n5470(a)pinefields.com
WXTide32 includes a feature to show tide data by creating a cursor that tracks
time of day and water height. It appears when the main window is opened and
showing the realtime, graph, or overview display, and the user presses either
the left-arrow or right-arrow key. A popup or tag follows the vertical part of
the cursor line, showing the data for the time (vertical cursor line) and depth
or height of water (horizontal cursor line).
Under Wine, the cursor lines are drawn but the cursor popup or tag is missing
or flashes briefly (hard to tell which is happening). At the same time, a new
entry appears in the task bar: "Untitled Window". The app then blinks between
idle (based on the regular movable cursor, controlled by a mouse, etc.) and
busy, with "Untitled Window" showing in the task bar while the mouse cursor
signals "busy". On minimizing the main window (showing the tide levels), the
"Untitled Window" entry remains in the task bar. It cannot be maximized,
opened, or closed. Only terminating the application removes "Untitled Window".
No messages are written to stdout or stderr when the problem occurs.
Under Windows, the key-controlled cursor moves as expected, with a popup
attached to the scrolling cursor. No additional tasks appear in the task bar.

Hack to workaround the problem
This is rather odd as I couldn't figure it out where the problem occurs deeper
but the attached patch should give a good hint to someone who knows better.
If the edit control is not WS_VISIBLE when created, WS_EX_CLIENTEDGE will be
ignored through it's life and only show the background color without border.
As I'm probably wrong this can be tested using the freeware program ResEdit by
creating a new dialog and adding a normal text edit control. It seems there are
more problems regarding updating the control on-the-fly with the properties
editor.

Summary: Floating point stack fault in a program compiled with
Silverfrost FTN95
Product: Wine
Version: 1.7.25
Hardware: x86-64
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
Reporter: pepalogik(a)seznam.cz
I use Silverfrost FTN95 compiler
<http://www.silverfrost.com/11/ftn95/ftn95_fortran_95_for_windows.aspx> for
debugging a Fortran 77 code. This compiler has quite a unique CHECKMATE feature
which performs various run-time checks, but this compiler is Windows-only.
First it seemed to work fine in Wine but then, when I used a larger code, the
program execution resulted in a floating point stack fault. Note that the
compiler itself works correctly in Wine, but the resulting CHECKMATE-enabled
executable fails (while the very same executable runs well on Windows).
I was happy when I found a workaround: to compile the program with /F_STDCALL.
Unfortunately, this turned out to be insufficient for an even larger code (it
is actually the same program with just larger parameter values and thus larger
arrays and more iterations in various cycles). For this code, /F_STDCALL only
causes the floating point stack fault to occur later.
I cannot 100% guarantee that the code is correct - a floating point stack fault
can be caused e.g. by calling a function with an incorrectly specified return
type. However, I think this is unlikely for the following reasons:
1. It does work on MS Windows,
2. It has been checked with two different compilers (FTN95 and gfortran).
3. It has been checked with Silverfrost's CHECKMATE run-time checking (as it
runs on Windows without failure).
4. It has been checked by me.
Hence I guess it is a bug in Wine.
What files do you need to tackle this problem? As the executable needs a
Silverfrost's runtime library, you will have to install FTN95 in any case. I
suggest that I will upload these files and information:
* program source,
* compiling instructions,
* input files (which are required by the program).
I will now wait for either your response or the appearance of Wine 1.7.26 in
the PPA (it seems to be to complicated for me to build it from the source). If
the latter happens earlier, I will check if the bug persists and upload the
files I have suggested.

Found that while testing for bug 29574, builtin jscript won't create an object
using 'new XMLHttpRequest();'.
There's several important things needed to implement this properly:
- it wraps msxml functionality;
- ::open() is always asynchronous with readystate handlers installed;
- msxml object is called directly without IDispatch;
- url passed to ::open() is expanded from relative url before it's passed to
msxml, probably with same object site functionality that msxml uses.

After trying to launch Assassin's Creed Syndicate, it crashed and showed a
message box with text: "The procedure entry point DisplayConfigGetDeviceInfo
could not be located in the dynamic link library USER32.dll". It doesn't matter
whether it was started directly from exe file or from UPlay. I found out that
this function was first introduced in Windows Vista, so I tried to change
operating system in winecfg from default "Windows XP" to "Windows 7", but it
didn't help either.

Summary: Regression in Heroes of Might and Magic 5

Severity: normal

AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: martyspamtrap(a)comcast.net
This is observed on the full version of Heroes of Might and Magic 5 (but is
probably reproducible on the demo). After updating to Wine 0.9.45 (coming from
0.9.44), I started experiencing application lockups in Heroes 5 during game
play on the map screen. The lockup consists of no further mouse or keyboard
instructions being recognize, although the background music continues to play.
An ALT-TAB to a shell and a "kill -9" get me back in control.
The problem is triggered somewhat randomly, but I've reproduced it twice by
loading up a saved game, panning around the map, viewing a hero's status
screen, and returning to the map. At this point, some of the status windows
are no longer drawing themselves completely and my system starts thrashing on
my hard drive. A little more panning around the map results in the lockup.
This issue did not exist in Wine 0.9.44.

After a clean installation of Heroes 5 in Wine, attempting to run it fails.
The console reports that d3dx9_25.dll is required by H5_Game.exe. My
workaround is to either copy this file from a Windows installation, or copy
Wine's d3dx8.dll.so to d3dx9_25.dll. Nasty hack, but it seems to work. I'd
like to request an enhancement to include a more proper version of this DLL in
Wine.

I just stumbled upon this wiki article:
http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ_pl
Somewhere in the middle of the article there are so many spelling mistakes and
the style is so bad it's barely comprehensible. There might be some useful
information there, but the article needs a lot of work from someone who knows
how to write proper Polish. Could you let the Polish translation team know?
Also, I replaced a word starting with "drug" (drugi? drugą? either of those)
meaning "second" to "kolejny" ("next") because the word "drug" is not allowed.
The spam filter is actually making it much more difficult to write articles.

Hi, I just wanted to let you all know that while sorting through pages on the
old wiki for migration, I came across this:
http://oldwiki.winehq.org/JamesLiggett/PalmDesktop
It's old and there's not a lot, but at the bottom of the page he discusses some
of the Afx getters in relation to what (I think) ultimately turned out to be
this bug. He's coming at it from the angle of the PalmDesktop program, which is
marked as affected by this bug. I didn't see anyone here discussing the exact
same functions so I figured it might be useful knowledge.
If it's worth keeping, you might want to repost it here (or on the AppDB page);
the old wiki should be staying up for a while, but I think the plan is to turn
it off soon after everything has been moved to the new one.

WineHQ 1.9.3, into Ubuntu Studio 15.10 & Lubuntu 15.10, can not to handle
surround audio (more than 2 output audio channels).
When we ask WineHQ (through "winecfg") to use Pulse Audio (which is the only
one audio system WineHQ can recognize) with more than 2 output audio channels
(doesn't matter the number we use), all the Windows audio apps (Adobe Audition,
ZaraRadio, WinAmp) will be freezed.
When we set "winecfg" to use Pulse Audio with only 2 audio channels (stereo),
then all works so fine.
SO... Here is something that somebody has to fix... Please!!!

There is no such option into the Winecfg app, and non of the Windows software
can use it.

Summary: alsa sound problem recognizing Logitech USB wireless
soundcard
Product: Wine
Version: 1.9.1
Hardware: x86
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal

Wine alsa does not recognize my wireless usb sound card.
I have tested with Dragon Naturally Speaking 13 and Windows Audacity.
I set up the wine prefix with sound=alsa before installing.
Pulseaudio is disabled on my system.
Alsamixer info:
Card 2 (set as default using asoundrc)
USB-Audio - Logitech Wireless Headset
Logitech Logitech Wireless Headset at usb-0000:00:14.0-1, full speed
In winecfg, the device seems to be recognized appropriately. It has e.g. Out:
Logitech Wireless Headset - USB
And the Test Sound works.
But when running the program, the sound is very faint and is I believe coming
from my system's soundcard.

Bug #: 33100
Summary: ALSA Audio playback in WINE locks up ALSA capture by
other applications
Product: Wine
Version: 1.5.25
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: winealsa.drv
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: torsten.crass(a)eBiology.de
Classification: Unclassified
Hi there,
when trying to record sound (e.g. using arecord) played by some
application running on WINE (e.g. vlc.exe) via ALSA, and if the
recording application is launched *before* the playback application,
recording stops immediately when playback starts, and after a while ALSA
reports an "Input/output error". This does not happen with native
playback applications, e.g. the Linux version of vlc.
Funny enough, if recordings starts *after* playback has begun,
everything works fine.
How to reproduce:
1. In a terminal, issue
sudo alsactl restore; arecord -D default -f dat -v -V stereo test.wav
2. In another terminal, launch vlc.exe by issuing something like
WINEPREFIX=/path/to/prefix wine /path/to/vlc.exe /path/to/some/audiofile
3. Wait for a few seconds... and see arecord complaining:
arecord: pcm_read:1801: read error: Input/output error
4. Re-launch arecrod:
sudo alsactl restore; arecord -D default -f dat -v -V stereo test.wav
5. Watch arecord recording happily ever after.
I initially suspected WINE to somehow force access to my soundcard's
capture device (A SB Live, which seems not to be dsnoop'd by default),
but after creating a dsnoop'd device (which did allow for multiple
simultaneous recordings with arecord when playing back audio with
Linux's vlc) and teaching WINE to actually use it, the problem
unfortunately remained.
Best regards --
Torsten
P.S. If filed this bug with Debian's wine-unstable-alsa package some two months
ago already, but since there hasn't been a single reply up to now and since the
problem still remains with 1.5.25 (Debian is still at 1.5.6), I found it
appropriate to directly re-file this report at WINE's bug tracking system.

NaturallySpeaking 13.0 crash when installing user voice
I created a new 32-bit wine prefix this morning, set the Windows version to 10
(sorry) and installed Dragon NaturallySpeaking 13.0 into it.
(Under winecfg, the sound was set to default, which had worked previously.)
The NatSpeak installation appeared to go flawlessly.
But the program will not run. It starts normally but then says it cannot use my
"user," that is, the set of files with my voice data in it.
I have tried creating a new user, and that does not work either.
I also tried changing the sound to pulseaudio in winecfg, ditto on the no work.
An error message says that the program cannot find my sound source.
Debian LXDE with all updates.
wine-1.7.55 (Staging)
Attached: crash report, terminal output.

This is a strange one... I'll just describe what happened:
- I'm using the digital out on my sound card. This works fine with everything
but this game in WINE
- Got the game working after registering XAudio2_7.dll
- There is no sound whatsoever ingame (also no sound options beyond a mixer)
- After running the game I have no sound anywhere anymore, even after closing
all WINE processes. No errors while playing though (so it's not blocked), just
quiet
- Mixer settings are fine
- Turns out the default ALSA device has been changed to the analog output,
even after explicitly selecting the digital output (instead of default) in
WINE. Only a reboot fixes this. ALSA documentation doesn't even mention this as
a possibility. Oh, and game audio still isn't played through that either.
I've tested this with WINE 1.7.9 and built from GIT.

Hello,
I have a console application for Windows so it's a .exe. The console .exe only
has one function, no GUI or anything. The console application basically
obfuscates a file. Command: ConsoleApp.exe FileName.dylib
I have tried Wine (stable or development builds) and while I can run the
console application fine, and it exits with "Success", the problem is the
output file that is ran using Wine on Linux has a slight difference compared to
the output file that was ran using the same .exe but on Windows.
After investigating the console .exe program, we found out that the whole
problem was due to a piece of code in the .exe "ftell function". Wine
apparently doesn't support it? Or something similar because if we compare the
two output files, the only difference is in here:
http://i.imgur.com/vghTN2X.png
Left is Wine on Linux (Ubuntu) and Right is normal Windows OS output file.
This is the ftell code:
https://imgur.com/UrkJ36V
Can you verify this? I did ask on IRC and on the Forums, they told me to submit
a bug report.
Thank you for your time and I hope a fix for this comes as soon as possible so
I can bring my project to life.

Summary: Using PBM_SETPOS to change the position of a progress

The test program that can be used to duplicate this behavior.
If you do this when you switch out of marquee mode on a progress bar:
SendMessage(pbar, PBM_SETMARQUEE, FALSE, 0);
SetWindowLongPtr(pbar, GWL_STYLE, GetWindowLongPtr(hwnd, GWL_STYLE) &
~PBS_MARQUEE);
SendMessage(pbar, PBM_SETPOS, currentPos, 0);
the progress bar will not redraw, and thus will continue to show the marquee
animation frozen at the place it was at the time of the above call.
Attached is a sample program that will demonstrate this behavior. Set one
value, then click Marquee and Set again. On Windows XP (at least), the progress
bar will redraw properly with the second click of Set. The attached file is
also available at
https://github.com/andlabs/misctestprogs/blob/master/winprogresstest.c.
(As marquees are a comctl32 version 6 feature, you may need a manifest file.)
Looking at the soruce, I see here -
http://source.winehq.org/source/dlls/comctl32/progress.c#L639 - that the
implementation's handling of PBM_SETPOS only draws the progressbar if the new
position is different. Thus, I could come up with a variety of ways to fix it,
such as adding a style change check there, or always redrawing the progress
bar, or redrawing on a style change... but I don't know which is the most
correct, so I'll leave it to the experts.
Thanks.

I'm not sure that bug #3569 was actually fixed, but seeing as two different
bugs were actually being discussed there (the DirectDraw version of MDK, and
the Direct3D version), things were not very clear. I'm splitting it here.
Tested on OSX 10.9.5.
http://jeffz.name/mdkdemo_repack.tar.bz2
winecfg virtual desktop set to 640x480
cd ~/.wine/drive_c && tar xf ~/mdkdemo_repack.tar.bz2 && cd mdkdemo_repack
wine MDKD3D.EXE
Credit/intro screen loads. Main menu loads. Start a new game and the loading
screen persists to flicker over the game graphics.
Confirmed that this bug does not happen on Windows 7. It works fine there.

The Dolphin app starts up normally, and runs perfectly until you begin the
emulation.
When you launch a rom, the following occurs-
A window appears saying No Possible Memory Base Pointer Found!
Then I get a message saying that the app has encountered a serious problem and
needs to close...
I have traced the problem to a possible solution though-
A graphical error...
Looking at the Dolphin website, I saw the following.
======= Runtime Library Requirements =======
Dolphin needs you have to have the libraries listed below installed.
[Windows]
-MS Visual C++ Runtime 2008 SP1: This fixes the "side by side" / "application
config" & model errors
Microsoft VC++ 2008 SP1 Redist x86 - For 32bit Windows
Microsoft VC++ 2008 SP1 Redist x64 - For 64bit Windows
-The DirectX March 2009 Runtime: This fixes the plugin loading errors
Note: THIS MEANS UPDATE YOUR DIRECTX EVEN IF YOU HAVE THE VERSION 9.0c or 10 or
10.1!!!!!!
Microsoft DirectX Updater
[Linux]
-install libbluetooth: fixes the "PANIC failed to load plugin
Plugins/libPlugin_wiimote.so" error for linux users
======= Video Card Requirements =======
You must have a video card that support OpenGL 2.x fully or Direct3D 9.0c.
Note: The Direct3D9 video plugin is old/outdated and it looks like it doesn't
work anymore. We recommend using the Dolphin OpenGL Video plugin for better
video emulation.
Note: Make sure your drivers are up to date!
So I tried using winetricks to install these missing programs, but found that
Dolphin still encountered the same problem as before.
