If I go to news.com, pick any story (e.g. today's Google Mail for Mobile),
and just sit there hitting reload, eventually the browser will
slow to a crawl and become unusable.
This also happens when just normally browsing around.
I imagine it's caused by particular flash ads
(a Microsoft one seemed to trigger the latest problem).
This is with Wine from Oct 18th.
I use Firefox3 every day or two for a little dogfood testing,
and today is the first time I noticed it, so it's likely
to be a new ad rather than a new wine problem. But who knows.

on a clean Wine directory. I run an only alsa setup (no pulse or OSS) and have
no issues with any other applications.
I am running Arch Linux using the 3.0 kernel and using the prepacked binary

Get segfault immediately. There's no backtrace of any kind.
The only way to see something meaningful is to run it wine under gdb backend.
This bug is not a dupe of bug 14598, there they use a different Skype version,
and it still runs for a few seconds.

Note that I installed DirectX and VCRedist that comes with the Steam version of

This bug seems to be independent of offscreenrenderingmode.

Bug ID: 36664
Summary: Unable to run anything when with kernel version 3.14
and wine configured as Windows 98
Product: Wine
Version: 1.7.19
Hardware: x86-64
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: critical
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
Reporter: doragasu(a)hotmail.com
Recently a security issue was fixed on Linux 3.14 kernel for x86_64 (and is
being backported to previous versions as well). The security fix unfortunately
caused win16 software to stop working, but 32 bit software is supposed to not
be affected. This is being discussed here:
http://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=22568
The problem is configuring Wine as Windows 9x causes this error to appear even
when trying to run 32 bit Windows applications: if you use a kernel with this
security flaw fixed and configure Wine in Windows 9x mode, nothing works
anymore, not even winecfg.
To reproduce the problem you need a Linux box running a 64-bit 3.14 kernel (I'm
running up-to-date Archlinux). Then follow these steps:
1.- Create a fresh wine prefix:
$ WINEARCH=win32 WINEPREFIX=/home/jalon/wine/test wineboot
2.- Run winecfg:
$ WINEPREFIX=/home/jalon/wine/test winecfg
3.- In winecfg, in the default tab (Applications), select "Windows 98" in the
"Windows Version" combo box and then click "OK".
4.- Try to run any 32 bit application (e.g. wineboot as in step 1):
$ WINEPREFIX=/home/jalon/wine/test wineboot
The application will not start, wineboot.exe will be freezed using 100% CPU,
and these messages will be printed in the terminal:
modify_ldt: Invalid argument
modify_ldt: Invalid argument
modify_ldt: Invalid argument
modify_ldt: Invalid argument
modify_ldt: Invalid argument
err:process:__wine_kernel_init boot event wait timed out
modify_ldt: Invalid argument
modify_ldt: Invalid argument
modify_ldt: Invalid argument
modify_ldt: Invalid argument
modify_ldt: Invalid argument
As winecfg cannot be started anymore in this prefix, the only way to revert it
to a working configuration is manually editing the registry and removing the
Windows 98 config entry, so this bug is critical because might render existing
wine prefixes useless if user sets Windows version to Windows 9x (and maybe
also other versions like Windows Me, but I have not tested it).

some text might be cut off. Most likely a font issue since the title-bars use

If I don't pass any custom width/height/window parameters to Half-Life 2, the
only available screen resolution option given to me is full screen, dual
screen, 3360x1050.
An odd graphical glitch happens in dual full screen; the image gets squashed to
half of the left screen (1/4 of total screen space) though the clicking region
stays full size. Please see the screenshot.
I work around this by passing "-width 1600 -height 900 -window" to the game,
making it render in a window just under the size of one screen.

The acces to this pdf is from a .lnk in the menu, the .lnk is obviously
launched by wine.
My guess is that it should be connected to the default pdf reader.

wine yahoo_whereswaldo_tm6-6.exe
Install the game, then start it. It sets the screen to 800x600,
then minimizes itself. You have to play alt tab - tab - tab games
to get back to it, after which you can play.
If you try running in a virtual desktop, the game starts minimized,
and there is no way to maximize it.
wine start /max doesn't seem to help with the free trial, as
the problem binary is launched by a wrapper.

Console output on running game
This Ubisoft game, sold as "Pippa Funnell - Secrets of the Ranch" in the UK is
also known as "Horsez - Secrets of the Ranch" and "Abenteuer auf dem Reiterhof
6 - Kampf un die Ranch".
I couldn't find a downloadable demo for this.
After installing the game, running it shows a blank blue screen (Wine changes
the desktop screen resolution to 1024x768 if not in virtual desktop mode).
After a few seconds the program exits. The last few lines of console output
are:

I created a log file with WINEDEBUG=+relay. From that, the few lines prior to
the X error message are:

The uncompressed log file is about 700MB, compressing to about 10MB. Can
someone suggest an alternative WINEDEBUG setting that might produce a more
manageable log file?

Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal

PVS-Studio identifies a Difference of unsigned numbers. V555 The expression
'This->nStreams - nr > 0' will work as 'This->nStreams != nr'. editstream.c 172
static HRESULT
AVIFILE_RemoveStream(IAVIEditStreamImpl* const This, DWORD nr)
{
...
This->nStreams--;
if (This->nStreams - nr > 0) { //<==
memmove(This->pStreams + nr, This->pStreams + nr + 1,
(This->nStreams - nr) * sizeof(EditStreamTable));
}
...
}
The nr variable has the unsigned type DWORD. Subtracting it will result in an
unsigned value, too. If nr is larger than This->nStreams, then the condition
will still be true.
A similar issue:
V555 The expression 'This->fInfo.dwStreams - nStream > 0' will work as
'This->fInfo.dwStreams != nStream'. avifile.c 469

Mentor Pads Free Viewer is available here:

They make you fill out a form with garbage then send a download link which is
pretty annoying but nothing I can do about that.
Okay, so you get a file called pads_viewer.zip (md5:
33506279ebee7e998b334376618177ff), unzip it and then run `wine
PADS9.5_Viewer_mib.exe`
It crashes with terminal output:
wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x00000000 at address 0x412cde
(thread 003f), starting debugger...
The install document says that it requires MSVC 2008 SP1. I installed that
using winetricks.
Backtrace attached.
I'm using wine 1.6.1 installed by homebrew. My install is probably ok since
many other programs work.
I will also (try to) report this to Mentor Graphics.

V501 There are identical sub-expressions '!lpScaleWindowExtEx->xNum' to the
left and to the right of the '||' operator. enhmetafile.c 1418
...
if (!lpScaleWindowExtEx->xNum || !lpScaleWindowExtEx->xDenom ||
!lpScaleWindowExtEx->xNum || !lpScaleWindowExtEx->yDenom)
break;
...
The lpScaleWindowExtEx->xNum condition is checked twice. Instead of one of the
checks, the statement lpScaleWindowExtEx->yNum was most likely meant to be
used. The corresponding field is found in the structure declaration:
typedef struct {
EMR emr;
LONG xNum; //<==
LONG xDenom;
LONG yNum; //<==
LONG yDenom;
} EMRSCALEVIEWPORTEXTEX, *PEMRSCALEVIEWPORTEXTEX,
EMRSCALEWINDOWEXTEX, *PEMRSCALEWINDOWEXTEX;
V501 There are identical sub-expressions '!(types[i + 1] &
PathPointTypeBezier)' to the left and to the right of the '||' operator.
graphics.c 1751
...
for(i = 1; i < count; i++){
....
if((i + 2 >= count) ||
!(types[i + 1] & PathPointTypeBezier) ||
!(types[i + 1] & PathPointTypeBezier)){
....
}
i += 2;
}
...
Another similar issue:
V501 There are identical sub-expressions to the left and to the right of the
'|' operator: VT_ARRAY | VT_ARRAY vartest.c 2161
details on the V501 error here:http://www.viva64.com/en/d/0090/
...
This fragment was discovered by the same diagnostic V501, but this time it
doesn't show the reason for identical conditions that clearly. Most likely, one
of them should contain types[i + 2] because the programmer has checked before
if the array item with the index larger than 'i' by 2 can be addressed.
V593 Consider reviewing the expression of the 'A = B != C' kind. The expression
is calculated as following: 'A = (B != C)'. request.c 3354
if ((hr = SafeArrayAccessData( sa, (void **)&ptr )) != S_OK)
return hr;
if ((hr = SafeArrayGetUBound( sa, 1, &size ) != S_OK)) //<==
{
SafeArrayUnaccessData( sa );
return hr;
}
The precedence of the != operator is higher than that of the assignment
operator =. And you can see clearly well from the condition above that the
assignment should also be enclosed in another pair of parentheses as hr would
otherwise get value 0 or 1.
details on the V593 error here:http://www.viva64.com/en/d/0197/

Sample program
On some kind of DCs (tested: memory DCs, DC provided by BeginPaint) a hatch
brush (created by CreateHatchBrush) performs fills incorrectly when setting the
background mode of the DC to TRANSPARENT. The pixels that should be transparent
are black instead (see attachments for example); ExtTextOut in the same
conditions instead performs correctly.
Interestingly, the behavior seems to be correct when painting over the screen
DC (obtained via GetDC(NULL)). The attached sample program (also at
https://bitbucket.org/mitalia/hatchbrushbug/src/hatchbrushbug.cpp) demonstrates
the problem.
My tests were performed with the wine 1.6.2 packages shipped with KUbuntu 14.04

Description: It seems to happens when a window application is launched by
another application. So my cursor becomes a glass of wine and loop starts. The
GUI becomes busy and uncontrollable because windows are opened infinitly.
It happens always when I do those 2 things:
1. When I click on a Kopete notification from my windows live account. The
notification contains a link to my mailbox. So when I click on it, I guess IE
tries to open (I didn't install IE).
2. When I close my Teamviewer 6 client. This is strange because I installed
this version with Debian package from the teamviewer site so it's not supposed
to use wine.
My safety solution is to kill wineserver process so all windows opened are
killed and my gui can be used again.

Hi,
I haven't tried this with v1.0.1 but in v1.1.21 the installation reports to
have failed at the end but it even created the entries in the Deinstallation
manager of wine. It still didn't work though but I guess that is because of a
different problem.
I also want to mention that with the Sacred 2 installer I also get an error
message at the end (aborted by the user) which I also reported in bug #18565
BUT there it REALLY failed because it never asked for the second disk and the
error is about the second disk anyway, so this one is a different bug -
therefore own bug posted. Furthermore, this game consists only of one
installation DVD.

Upgraded Wine to 1.3.4 this afternoon.
Was working on a Word doc, in MSOFFICE 2007 through Wine.
Did the upgrade.
Then went and reloaded the document, it loaded fine.
However, as soon as I tried to open or save (file dialogs) I would receive the
Windows has crashed error, and given the debug button or restart office.
If I click debug, then wine crashes.
Tried changing all of my libraries to native, or builtin, or both, or disabled,
still happens.
All other software worked fine in Wine.
Adobe products... Fine.
Browsers... Fine.
MS products file dialogs, all broken...
Thanks guys, Backtrace attached.

tells it is because "an application tries to use a (D3D) format (e.g.

I think it is a bug in wine. It should check for available formats and stop if
requested is not available and print a message how to fix it.

Using intel onboard gfx, in my case intel i5-3570k, when I enable antialiasing
under wine I get glitches, but only using the resolution of my monitor
(1680x1050). For some reason, the problem does not manifest when using a lower
resolution.
Simplest way to reproduce:
1) Instal 3D Mark 2001 SE using winetricks
2) Launch 3D Mark 2001 SE and enable antialiasing
3) Run benchmark
The glitches appear as white dots.
This problem also affects GTA San Andreas. Please see the attached screenshot
which reveals the particular nature of the glitches.
Result is that I cannot use antialiasing.

Error log with GLSL disabled.
Hello.
Starcraft 2 has been working absolutely fine on my PC, until I upgraded my
distribution to use mesa-8.0.1 (up from 7.11.2). Then I get the error described
in the log1 attachment.
I had also re-enabled GLSL using wine regedit, but that doesn't help (log2).
The distribution I am using:
Arch Linux x86_64:
lib32-mesa 8.0.1
lib32-ati-dri 8.0.1
lib32-libgl 8.0.1
xorg-server 1.11.99.903
xf86-video-ati 6.14.3
wine 1.4rc4
When I force-downgrade lib32-ati-dri to 7.11.2 (without downgrading the rest),
Starcraft 2 starts working again - I am guessing the issue is in that part of
the code.
I am not sure if it's a bug in mesa, or wine. Any help is appreciated!

Summary: FEAR: waterplane rendering triggers SW fallback in
mesa
Product: Wine
Version: 1.3.14
Platform: x86
URL: http://www.gamershell.com/download_10167.shtml
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: directx-d3d
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: liquid.acid(a)gmx.net
Hi there,
while profiling FEAR with sysprof I found out that rendering certain objects
trigger a software fallback in mesa.
If you check the demo version of the game, you can find such an object after
the first underground section: Once the game renders the waterplane that exists
in the next section the fallback becomes active and the performance collapses
(this happens once you leave the underground area with the ladder).
The engine probably uses an FBO for reflection of the world geometry on the
waterplane.
Profiling was done on my Intel i965, but I also noticed a slowdown on r600g, so
probably the fallback is also triggered there (going to check this later).
sysprof shows these two function consuming the majority of CPU time:
_mesa_texstore_s8_z24 54.21%
intel_ReadDepthSpan_z24_s8 32.06%
The span functions are used in the driver for software fallbacks. Tracing back
intel_ReadDepthSpan_z24_s8 shows:
IWineD3DDeviceImpl_DrawIndexedPrimitive
drawPrimitive
surface_load_ds_location
glCopyTexImage2D
copyteximage
intelCopyTexImage2D
copy_tex_image
intelReadPixels
_swrast_ReadPixels
read_depth_stencil_pixels
intel_ReadDepthSpan_z24_s8
My guess is that the fallback is triggered by the lack of using
EXT_packed_depth_stencil for stencil/depth handling.
Greets,
Tobias

When I run Setup.exe from the Soviet-Disk to install the game there is a

If I play Squadron TD for a while (Starcraft II, patch 1.5.1), graphics errors
show up and eventually (usually 30sec later), Starcraft II crashed with the
following error of the Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library:
R6034, An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library
incorrectly. Sometimes, Starcraft also reports that my computer doesn't have
enough graphics memory.
It's quite undeterministic. Sometimes, I can play whole games without a crash.
But it usually crashes.
This might be related to Bug 16577.
I'm using nvidia-drivers 304.22 and 295.71. My graphics card has 512MB RAM.
Starcraft runs without crashes on Windows.

A workaround to still install the game is to click the installation button in

--- Comment #62 from Sebastian Lackner <sebastian(a)fds-team.de> ---
Hi,
I looked at this patch, and the basic idea seems correct. Nevertheless while
reviewing I noticed some issues:
try 2 (with libxml):
* When copying part of a table or enumeration, then the HTML snippet will look
like "<tr><td>...</td></tr>". This confuses libxml, and no <HTML><BODY> tag
will be added. The code will later error out with a message that no body tag
was found. Not sure if its caused by my specific version of libxml, but it
doesn't seem to be safe to assume, that libxml will do the whole job.
try 3 (manual adding tags):
* In the example above only a <HTML><BODY> tag is added, but no <table> tag. To
create meaningful HTML the code should also add other tags, where it is
possible to guess in which context they are used.
* The code to detect "startOfMarkup" is wrong. It is of course also possible
that the HTML code begins with text, not with an HTML tag. In this situation
the tag will be inserted at the wrong position. I have also no idea what the
memchr(...) check is for?!
* The code for startOfMarkup is executed even when its not required. Since this
code is relatively slow a better method is to skip over it, when all header
fields are already present.
* It looks a bit unnecessary complicated that the whole memory block is copied
several times. First of all one time for the UTF-16 decoding, then another time
for adding the tags, and a third time to add the headers. I am not sure yet if
there is an easy method, but we should probably try to get rid of at least one
copy step.
* The <BODY> tag is searched, although the position is already known in some
cases. By merging both functions its probably possible to get rid of that.
I have fixed the most critical issue (incorrect calculation of startOfMarkup)
and added a fixed version of the patch to our staging tree.
https://github.com/wine-compholio/wine-staging/blob/master/patches/winex11-…
@Damjan: Not sure if you're still working on it, but if you want some feedback
on your next attempt before sending it on the mailing lists just contact me. ;)
Regards,
Sebastian

--- Comment #36 from Bruno Jesus <00cpxxx(a)gmail.com> ---
This is a kernel trap. The game is doing setsockopt(SO_SNDBUF, 65536) but as
stated in the docs the (linux) kernel will double the value and when asked for
the size with getsockopt(SO_SNDBUF) it will return 131072. This makes the game
very sad because the comparison is probably != instead of >=
By dividing the value from getsockopt by 2 the game will be happy and will
attempt to connect to Novaworld and ask for an update. Unfortunately the ftp is
no longer active (at least for me) and then the update process will sit forever
waiting.
See SO_SNDBUF at http://man7.org/linux/man-pages/man7/socket.7.html
It's possible to fix this by storing the requested buffer size in the
wineserver socket object. Then we would do the getsockopt and return the min()
from what wineserver has and getsockopt returned.

If I start an application using Crossover (or Wine), the application will
always be the Wine Logo instead of the application logo. This is the same
independent of the application being run or using Wine instead of Crossover.
That makes sense if the application has no logo, but it gets confusing running
multiple Microsoft Office programs - and all of them have the same logo.
The hint text for the icon is also "Wine Windows Program Loader" instead of
"Document 1 - Microsoft Word" as it should be.
Unity does not seem to allow Wine/Crossover to use application icons and title
text.
I have confirmed that this issue does NOT occur in Gnome Classic, and is only a
Unity flaw.
Downstream report is at

bug report
Hi all.
Was trying to run Audiosurf through Steam. The game itself seems to run fine,
connects to servers, achievements pop, graphics work without hiccups.
However, when I want to use the keyboard (be it steering the rocket or just
pressing ECS to open the options/pause the game), the whole game freezes up. I
can only end the process, 'cause it's been so far impossible to unfreeze. Wine
pops an errror message (bug file in the attachments).
Have done a few experiements, with clean prefix and a different version of Wine
(1.7.2 instead of the default 1.6.2 I was running). Same results. The only keys
I can press that don't cause a crash are the 'windows' key which flawlessly
opens the menu and the multimedia keys of my keyboard that change volume or
mute the sound. Those work.
Any other key, no matter if it has a function in the game or not, causes a
crash.
Have no problems in any other Wine program; also other Steam games are
unaffected.
Hope someone who's less of a newbie will know what to make of this bug...
Thanks in advance for looking.

The program installs without problems, but when I try to run it - it hangs

This is unexpected, as the project uses cross-platform python language and QT4

so I mark this bug as 'major'.

console output during error dialog
I have two machines here operating Gentoo GNU/Linux, configured to be able to
play Roblox using Wine, Winetricks and the rlw script developed by alfonsojon.
This problem started when I was running Wine versions wine-1.7.24, but I also
tried to update to the latest development version wine-1.7.27 and I still have
the same problem.
It worked great up until a few days ago; I didn't change anything on these
systems except for an update to KDE, but I believe that the game still worked
after that. However, in the last few days, trying to launch any of the Roblox
games produces a dialog with the following error message:
First, I see the dialog "the server is ready, joining the game", but
immediately after, I see a dialog new window pop up with this error:

The program RobloxPlayerBeta.exe has encountered a serious problem
and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
This can be caused by a problem in the program or a deficiency
in Wine. You may want to check the application database for tips about
running this application.

I also found another user in the Roblox forum who is also experiencing an
unhandled exception error, but thus far, nobody has been able to tell us much
about it:

Can somebody please help me figure out if I have done something wrong?
If there is anything else I can submit that would support the effort to debug
the source of the problem then please let me know. I am new at this so please
forgive if I have not submitted enough data to provide intuitive information
that could identify the cause of the problem.
Thank you so much for your thoughts.

Summary: rubber banding at start of motion (not lag) in City of
Heroes
Product: Wine
Version: 1.0-rc3
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: jeff.mitchell+WINE(a)gmail.com
In City of Heroes / City of Villains, it is frequently possible to get rubber
banding when attempting to move from a static location (unlike lag which is
inconsistent or an intermittent slow down, this is only being able to move a
couple steps and then being bounced back for the entire time the app is
running).
Using the same system with the same set of steps right afterwards or before
doesn't produce this affect in Cedega (which is likely irrelevant but thought
I'd note it anyways). From the comments on the appdb page I'm led to believe
that this could be environment specific (me: Ubuntu 8.04 / Dell m1530 laptop
running game over wireless / nvidia graphics / all desktop effects disabled) to
a few people but I can replicate it.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Start City of Heroes/Villains via wine
2. Login to account, choose character
3. When loaded, attempt to move the character in any direction and you will be
bounced back to approximately where you started. If you're able to super jump
out of the "rubber banding field" where you start, motion is normal and fluid
until you land / stop and a new rubber banding field is born.
Any insight as to what debug flags to try to help isolate would be appreciated.
Thanks for your time.

I'm using Wine 1.1.23 (compiled from source using gcc version 4.4.0 20090506
(Red Hat 4.4.0-4) ) on Fedora 11 i386.
The problem is that after patching Stronghold 2 (European version) from 1.0 (or
1.1 or 1.2) to 1.4 (or 1.4.1) some graphics like buildings or peoples
disappear, but the game is stable and doesn't crash like on 1.0.
I also noticed that in main menu background is sometimes black.
After pressing ESC in game the window that appears sometimes haven't got a
border.
These two issues aren't present on 1.0 version.
Additional information:
-d3dx9_27.dll overridden (wine didn't suggested that in terminal but without it
i cannot start game at all)
-gfx NVIDIA 9xxx (185.18.14)
-ORM=fbo (other also are causing problems)
-multisampling doesn't solve problem
-checked in game settable shaders version (disable 1.4 2.0 3.0) none of those
helped

Hi,
On OS X I mount my NAS share via the Finder menu "Go to -> Connect to server".
This way my share will be in /Volumes/share.
In Wine the root of my OS X is mounted as z:\, so the NAS share will be on
Z:\Volumes\Share.
The problem is that when a folder in my share has over 119 subfolders, two
folders will always be invisible to winefile or the file open dialog of other
apps, for example notepad.
That is true as long as I'm browsing Z:\Volumes\Share.
When I'm browsing /Volumes/Share it will show all folders.
Unfortunately applications like Total Commander cannot browse /
I was able to reproduce this again and again with my NAS when connecting to it
via smb, when connecting via afp, all folders will be shown.
Steps to reproduce,
- connect the system to server via smb
- in folder make 119 sub folders
- make one more subfolder
- now when you browse with winefile z:\Volumes\yourshare\folder\ you will see
only 118 sub folders
- when you browse with winfile /Volumes\yourshare\folder\ you will see all 120
sub folders
Just keep in mind that this was found on OS X, it might be different on other
systems.

Summary: Rounding error in database app?
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.36
Platform: x86

Status: UNCONFIRMED

Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: dank(a)kegel.com
http://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?t=7333
describes a rounding error:
I've got a "straightforward" database querying problem with a Visual Basic 6
application that happens on Debian (+WINE), but not on Windows XP.
SETUP:
* COMPUTER "FREE" with:
--- DEBIAN Lenny (Lang: Spanish)
--- unixODBC + FreeTDS for ODBC conectivity to remote MSSQL2000 (tested,
working)
--- WINE 1.1.33
--- MDAC 2.8 (for channelling the ODBC connection through to unixODBC)
* COMPUTER "M$" with:
--- Windows XP (Lang: Spanish)
--- MSSQL Server 2000
--- MDAC 2.8
PROBLEM:
I create an ODBC connection to MSSQL2000 on VB6, and query a field (Numeric
9,2) into an ADODB.Recordset.
On Windows, the program returns the complete field numeric value (2.44), but on
Debian it rounds the number (2.00).
On Debian, channelling the Query through isql properly returns 2.44, so it's
most likely a WINE or VB6+WINE issue.
LITTLE VB6 TEST PROGRAM CODE (returns 2.44 on Windows XP, but 2.00 on Debian):
Code:
Private oConn As ADODB.Connection
Private Sub Command1_Click()
Dim oRS As ADODB.Recordset
Set oConn = New ADODB.Connection
oConn.Open "DSN=myODBCDSN; UID=username; PWD=password;"
Set oRS = New ADODB.Recordset
oRS.Open "SELECT Price FROM GOODS WHERE idGoods = 10", oConn, adOpenDynamic
MsgBox oRS("Price")
oConn.Close
Set oRS = Nothing
Set oConn = Nothing
End Sub
The line oRS("Price") is where the problem is.
...
I noticed oleaut32.dll is distributed with VB6 Runtime Libraries, which I had
previously installed. I reinstalled them via Winetricks both set as Builtin and
native and there was no change unfortunately.
I also fiddled with all Library Native/Builtin settings to see if anything
changed, but the problem remains.
...
In WINE 1.1.35, native OLE DB support was added. Since I could not find a
solution using ODBC, I switched to a OLE DB DSN-Less connection taking
advantage of this brand new feature and tried again. It worked!
I could not find why ODBC gave me this problem, and now I can remain happily
ignorant [hopefully].

CueClub is a snooker/pool game developed by Bulldog Interactive. It was
published as Trickshot by Phoenix Games Ltd.
The game CD has several audio tracks. The game is unable to play these under
Wine, and exits at startup with a "sound error" dialog box.
The CD audio handling in the original CD version of Trickshot differs from that
in the v1.64 patch available from
http://www.bulldoginteractive.com/cc_support.htm
In both cases the game exits with a "sound error" dialog. With the later
executable, on my machine the CD spins up then stops. There is no CD activity
with the earlier executable.
I used WINEDEBUG=+mcicda...

X-Mouse Button Control (XMBC) is a tool which allows configuring various
actions to mouse buttons, including simulated keystrokes and simulated mouse
clicks.
As the FAQ inform us, everything is achieved via SetWindowsHookEx.
The problem is - when I try to simulate "left mouse button" it "clicks" in the
other part of the map, that the pointer actually is. In menus it seems to work
without any problems, so It may be related with 3D modes.

Hi,
I have installed Wine a few months ago on a Archlinux distribution, running on
64 bits computer.
I have installed BY Wine two dictionaries (Danish Politikens Dictionaries :
Nudansk and Fransk/Dansk).
The dictionaries runs successfully and I can use them.
Though, when I launch one of them (or both, it occurs as soon as I open one)
the CPU starts to spin up to 90% __ALL THE TIME__.
The CPU spins while running the application, and also AFTER quitting it.
After quitting application, the process Nudansk21.exe (one of the dictionary,
for instance) is still running with high CPU eating.
The two processes eating most CPU are Nudansk21.exe (dictionary) and
wineserver, eating together 90% CPU.
The only solution to quit the application is "wineserver -k" (or killing each
processes manually).
If you need any more informations, please let me know.
