Summary: SWAT 4 does not save data properly
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified

Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: webmaster(a)geekstreak.com
SWAT 4 does not save game data properly in several areas:
Your officer name is not saved, leaving a blank space in the drop-down box
where the list of saved officer careers should be.
Progress in career mode is not saved from game to game.
Occasionally, the game will not advance the player to the next level, even if
they've passed the level, leaving the player to retry the same level until the
game lets the player advance.
Weapon loadout is not saved properly, and acts strange: sometimes the first
loadout you select is saved from game to game, sometimes your weapon loadout is
loaded for all of your squad members (most of the time, the game has a
different loadout for different members in different missions). Sometimes your
weapon loadout is never saved between games and only the default is loaded.
Weapon loadout custom names are not saved.

+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #13429 +++
It was and still is not possible to enter Eudora in paid mode. I have paid for
my Eudora Pro (for over 10 years, more than 1 copy, also for many colleagues),
but since I moved from Windows XP to Ubuntu, I'm working in sponsor mode. Which
has a pesky irritating window reminding me about working in sponsor mode...
The pesky window just says "Eudora" in the window body. The window has no
title. The window can be moved around in the main Eudora window, but it is
always "on top", so also over any opened mailbox or email message, or over the
list of filters.
The pesky window forces Eudora to move its main window. That means, all other
windows with mailboxes and email messages are repositioned, and horizontal and
vertical scroll bars appear in the Eudora main window. It is irritating.

Nvidia's 270.xx.yy driver series fix the glMapBuffer alignment issues that
caused major

VBO instead of using
doublebuffered loading, which means that we fall back to the current
behavior(no dynamic VBO) as
needed. Dynamic VBOs are needed on Nvidia drivers for
GL_ARB_instanced_arrays.

Counter Strike: Source crashes for me when loading a map to be played but not
the video stress test (which runs fine). CSS crashes during the "initializing
game data" portion of the load process. I'm pretty sure this is not related to
bug 24064 since the crash occurs whether or not I have steam
in-game/gameoverlayrenderer.dll disabled. I also don't believe my crash is
related to bug 15841 since 15841 seems to be related to wine's sound
components, and I have no reason to believe that is the case here.
My graphics hardware is an ATI HD 4850 (rv770) being driven by mesa's
gallium3d. I'm experiencing the crash using mesa's software llvmpipe driver as
well, so I think that rules out the graphics driver being the culprit here.
attached should be a minidump of the crash as well as wine's output.
If I'm looking at this correctly, the minidump file points to somewhere within
the libcef.dll installed by steam/counter strike source as the problematic code
area. I'm not sure how to debug this further since my assembly foo isn't too
great.
Let me know if I can provide more information.

Summary: Pharaoh Demo: Crash with error when sound is enabled

terminal output (error)
Using the following non-default settings in a clean wine:
- Windows 95
- Graphics: Virtual desktop 1024x768
- Sound: ALSA driver
- Sound: Emulation
Installing the app and starting it works. This refers both to the demo and the
full 1.0 Gold release.
_Shortly_ after starting a mission or sometimes when still in the menu, the
game hangs with an error.
The error disappears in two cases:
1. Deselecting all sound systems in 'winecfg' sound settings.
2. Using a version of wine before commit
6b8753185f30197047773af6a26eafd34d45367c was made.
The above commit was found using a regression test between wine-1.1.25 and
wine-1.1.40. There was no particular reason for selecting these particular
releases except to have a reasonable bisect window + the fact I was using
wine-1.1.25 to run the demo _and_ the full game succesfully.

To set up and environment to reproduce this: Download and unzip ospy, and set
up a new WINEPREFIX with `winetricks -q dotnet20 gdiplus`. dotnet20 is
necessary as the program does not work with mono210, gdiplus is not strictly
necessary but resolves the problem of corrupted menus. I have attached a log
but there doesn't seem to be anything very relevant there. Both oSpy and
EasyHook (which it uses) are open source.

The progress bar of the installarer does show up, but it never increases since

Wihtout any flags, wine keeps quiet when this happens (no output from the

This is bug follows a previous bug in Di Gi Charat Fantasy :

Demo source code and compiled executable
My best guess is the bug is in user32, but I'm not quite sure.
It seems that with reparented windows, child windows within them are getting
WM_MOUSEUP but not WM_MOUSEDOWN.
Here is a demo app. Yes it is in VB .NET, but it outright calls the SetParent
API call so the fact that it is .NET shouldn't matter.
Behavior on WinXP:
Press down on the button, display changes to MouseDown
Release the button, display changes to MouseUp and a message box comes up.
Bheavior on Wine 1.0rc2:
Press down on the button, nothing happens.
Release the button, display changes to MouseUp.
Wine version to emulate is set to 2000 as that is the only one for which .NET
works.

Multiples copies
The "new" Steam UI running under Wine has a weird effect when run along with a
compositing window manager. Instead of one copy of the window, multiple copies
appear tiled to the right and down. Only the top-left copy is "solid" in the
sense that it's the only one that receives events. Clicking on a copy sends the
events to the window below (another application or the desktop). All copies
reproduce the changes in the main copy.
I've reproduced this with Gnome-Shell, plain Mutter, and Metacity in
compositing mode. Metacity with compositing mode disabled doesn't exhibit this
problem.
I'm attaching a screeshot made with Gnome Shell. Metacity shows a different
effect: instead of the extra copies, it shows filled black.
Curiously in the "expose" mode of Gnome Shell (i.e. when the desktop is zoomed
out) the window appears correctly. I haven't tried similar features of the
other window managers.

To reproduce, go to view -> toolbars -> customize. On Windows, this makes it
possible to drag-and-drop the objects from the window that pops up, as well as
the new tab button, navigation buttons, etc. to a different location on one of
the toolbars. For example, you can move the new tab button to the left side of
the tab bar. On Wine, it just shows an "action not allowed" cursor when
attempting this, and nothing happens.

I installed Visual C++ 5 (part of Visual Studio 97).
It starts fine and seems to work, but hangs on exit.
One sees
err:ntdll:RtlpWaitForCriticalSection section 0x7efec644 "loader.c:
loader_section" wait timed out in thread 0017, blocked by 0015, retrying (60
sec)
err:ntdll:RtlpWaitForCriticalSection section 0x7ea3b720 "compobj.c:
csRegisteredClassList" wait timed out in thread 0009, blocked by 0015, retrying
(60 sec)
and then it tries to start the debugger but can't, since there is no process
anymore. I'll attach the last 100K lines of a +ole,+module,+relay log.
And no, Lei's patch from today doesn't help.

This actually makes sense, although unexpected. Windows 7 doesn't start drawing
immediately for some reason. That's why you have to click. Some fiddling with
the test case should probably fix that. That's irrelevant to the bug.

This is expected. You do expect a window to come forward when you click it.
Although this only happens in virtual desktop mode.

I looked at your test case and it doesn't seem to work on windows 7. The screen
is completely gray with no animation, UNLESS I click on the part where the main
window should be. That seems to kick it off. However, clicking on the area
where the child window should be doesn't do anything (the screen stays blank).
In WINE, the animation starts immediately, although there is a black rectangle
in the top-left corner. However, when I click anywhere on the main window, the
child window is sent to the background and then animation plays out on the
whole screen. However, similar to the windows behavior, when I click on the
child window, nothing happens (the child window continues to obscure the
animation below).
Hope that helps.

Created an attachment (id=35469)
--> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=35469)
Test case which consistently fails.
After some work with Diablo Spawn's traces I was able to find a test case which
consistently fails against current wine git.
Build with:
winegcc main.c -lddraw -lgdi32
Expected result: Flashing screen from black to white and back to black.
Wine results: Same results, except with a black square in the corner.
Now someone just have to find where in wine this bug is...

Hello,
the v2.0 demo refuses to install and forces download of v3.0
The installer is a bit picky and gets it wrong (tries to install MS JET 4.0 SP8
and MDAC 2.8 in endless loop).
This fails by design on clean WINEPREFIX (Windows XP default) hence you _must_
use the following before running the installer:
--- snip ---
$ bash winetricks mfc40 nt40
--- snip ---
The installer then installs MSJET and MDAC on its own (restarts the installer
after "reboot").
App starts fine with demo mode (though lots of FIXME console spam).
Marking fixed.

Hello,
there was a time when MS JET was part of MDAC install which brought in all
needed dependencies (e.g. Jet Sort Library).
See: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms810823.aspx
To install/deploy MS Jet 4.0 SPx, MDAC 2.x component _is_ an install
requirement (mswstr10.dll is contained within jetfiles.cab).
The installer checks this.

--- snip ---
What basically happens is that MS JET40 SP6 gets installed and the required
MDAC 2.7 prerequisite not.
The reason is visible in posted trace log snippet: to determine MDAC install
state, the installer uses VBscript snippet.
Because of non-functional VBScript runtime, the script fails and later leads to
MDAC component not being installed.
When using 'winetricks -q wsh57' the required MDAC install property is set.
Now guess ... the MDAC 2.7 installer claims success but doesn't install
anything ;-)
See: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms810805.aspx (MDAC 2.7 is part of
Windows XP install).
Winetricks has winver=win2k prerequisite for MDAC installers.
--- snip ---
$ bash winetricks wsh57 win2k
--- snip ---
That still doesn't fix the installer...
Looking further, MDAC 2.7 installer doesn't process install the required
jetfiles.inf/jetfiles.cab (contains mswstr10.dll).
"dasetup.ini" reveals:
--- snip ---
...
[JET_FILES]
Name=Jet Expression Service and String Sorting Libraries
ComponentName=JETES
Catalog=
Dependencies=
InstallType=inf
CabFile=JETFILES.cab
InfFile=JETFILES.inf
InstallSection=DefaultInstall
InstallSection.NT=DefaultInstall.NT
ExtractCab=0
UseRollback=1
RebootAfter=0
ValidOs=7
--- snip ---
At the end of this file comes the solution:
--- snip ---
; ValidOS values
; these can be OR'd together..
; Win95 = 1
; Win98 = 2
; NT4 = 4
; W2K = 8
; Millennium = 16
; Whistler = 32
; All = 4294967295 (0xFFFFFFFF
--- snip ---
So MDAC 2.7 needs to be installed with < Windows 2000 to have missing JET
support files included!
--- snip ---
$ bash winetricks wsh57 nt40
--- snip ---
makes the installer finally work ;-)
I think winetricks needs to be fixed too for old MDAC 2.7 installers (using
"nt40" and not "win2k")

It seems likely that bug #22493 for Baldurs Gate 2 describes the same issue
(both games use the same engine and the symptoms are the same).

Apologies, the glitches are with opengl, which indeed are present. Also, the
background below the cursor becomes a black box and leaves a trail, which then
the game seems to recover from.

In wine 1.3.23, it worked with VideoMemroySize=16 AND Windows version = NT 4.0.
I did not see the graphical glitches in the last screenshot of the attachments.
32 MB memory did not work; version=Windows 98 and 16MB does not work.
Stefan, I would suggest to check the issue with Alexandre and if indeed there
is no possibility to fix it, then close with WON'T FIX.

The bug reporter stated (#81) that they could not test anymore this bug because
of bug http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6789 (I found it through AppDB,
reported for the same application) which has been closed as abandoned (by the
same bug reporter). I would thus suggest to also close this one as abandoned.

I'm updated wine 1.1.30 -> 1.1.31. In the version 1.1.30 it was possible to run

The problem is when you choose Edit, and starts the editor. Here Photoshop
hangs, and will not run, even if you wait for a while.

Today I updated Wine from 1.3.19 to 1.3.21 using the Ubuntu repository of
Wine/PPA.
When I tried to start Fallout 2, it played about 1/10th of second (100ms) the
intro video, and then hanged. If I hit ESC quick enough, I manage to pass the
intro videos, but the sound is lost in the game.
Then I tried WoW, which have not had any severe audio problems (only lost audio
about once in an hour, but that can be fixed to switch between hardware and
software acceleration inside the game), but that game has also lost its sound
completely!
I even tried to downgrade Wine, but that does not help. Did the new version
something to the config files that is not repairable?
I didn't manage to get any good debug information, sorry about that. I'm
interested if anyone else has experienced anything like this.

Summary: [FreeBSD][eve

"Bad Handshake" bug
Product: Wine
Version: 1.3.23
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: pprocacci(a)gmail.com
Tested wine versions: 1.3.21 and 1.3.23
Attempting to log into the game "eve online" results in a "Bad Handshake"
error. I've narrowed down the problem to the following within the
enumIPAddresses routine in dll/iphlpapi/ifenum.c.
###########################################
do {
lastlen = ifc->ifc_len;
HeapFree(GetProcessHeap(), 0, ifc->ifc_buf);
if (guessedNumAddresses == 0)
guessedNumAddresses = INITIAL_INTERFACES_ASSUMED;
else
guessedNumAddresses *= 2;
ifc->ifc_len = sizeof(struct ifreq) * guessedNumAddresses;
ifc->ifc_buf = HeapAlloc(GetProcessHeap(), 0, ifc->ifc_len);
ioctlRet = ioctl(fd, SIOCGIFCONF, ifc);
} while ((ioctlRet == 0) && (ifc->ifc_len != lastlen));
###########################################
The above snippet of code loops endlessly until ioctl returns -1. The
statement "ifc->ifc_len != lastlen" is always true. This results in enormous
amounts of memory attempting to be allocated and then later used in ioctl.
Eventually the ioctl call will return -1, breaking the loop.
ERROR_INVALID_PARAMETER gets returned from this routine, and the proceeding
(proceeding proceeding) routine (GetAdaptersInfo) ends of returning
ERROR_OUTOFMEMORY.
############################################
ret = getIPAddrTable(&ipAddrTable, GetProcessHeap(), 0);
if (!ret)
ret = AllocateAndGetIpForwardTableFromStack(&routeTable, FALSE,
GetProcessHeap(), 0);
if (!ret)
table = getNonLoopbackInterfaceIndexTable();
if (table) {
<!--- snip ---->
}
else
ret = ERROR_OUTOFMEMORY;
############################################
I don't have a patch on hand or anything, but my debugging led me to the
information provided.
Hope this helps.

I'm not sure. The GDI object limit is intentional I think. Trying to fill the
vidmem with surfaces is the game's doing, that won't be fixed.
I guess the way to fix this is to rewrite the GDI renderer not to use a DIB
section for every surface, only if it is a primary surface or the app calls
GetDC. On the other hand Alexandre once said the software ddraw implementation
should use gdi for blitting instead of its own implementations, which means we
need a DIB section everywhere.
Either way it is a tricky situation and would need a lot of work. Honestly I'd
prefer to ignore it and let people force the video memory size lower. We cannot
limit the vidmem for apps using ddraw.dll in general because some opengl apps
use ddraw to figure out how much video memory the GPU has.
> It looks like comment 65-67 describes graphical glitches occurring with

Yes. I think the problem is that wined3d can't read the color keyed surface
contents back. The game backs up the old content of the backbuffer before it
draws a sprite, and when it moves the sprite it draws the old contents back
rather than redrawing everything.

Thanks for taking a look. What do you propose should happen to this bug? At the
very least I suggest changing the title to reflect the GDI running out of
handles issue that it seems to focus on (the current summary is far too vague).
It looks like comment 65-67 describes graphical glitches occurring with
DirectDrawRenderer=opengl - that sounds like it should be a separate bug
report.

I can reproduce the issue. The game tries to fill the entire video memory with
surfaces. Each surface gets a DIB section, and GDI runs out of handles. In the
old ddraw code it worked because it faked only 8 MB of video memory. Wined3d
tries to make a reasonable guess based on your GPU, so usually you have up to
two gigs of emulated vidmem.
There are two workarounds: The first is to use the opengl renderer for
directdraw, which doesn't need DIB sections for most of its surfaces. Or you
could limit the video memory to a small size. See the useful registry keys wiki
page for details on both settings.

same with older versions. I suspect the problem is specific to my M-Audio Delta
66 sound card. I use no sound servers or anything that may be restricting the
device. This card otherwise works flawlessly with every other application I am
using. Older version of wine would usually report something about missing
Master control, so I guess somethere there may be a problem, but not really
sure how to fix it.

Summary: Steam tray icon doesn't appear if panel hidden in
autohide mode
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.60
Platform: PC-x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: winex11.drv
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: rmuncrief(a)comcast.net
This bug may be related to the now closed bug 12362, but I've been asked to
file a new bug report for it. I am running Ubuntu Gutsy AMD64.
I've found that the Steam system tray icon doesn't appear correctly if the
bottom panel is in autohide mode and hidden.
If the panel is completely hidden (by using gconf-editor and setting
/apps/panel/default_setup/toplevels/bottom_panel/auto_hide_size to 0) A space
is created for it in the system tray, but right or left clicking over it does
nothing.
If the normal autohide setting of 6 is used then the leftmost icon in the
system tray will be duplicated, but it will function as the Steam system tray
icon. For example, my leftmost icon is Basket, so when I start Steam the Basket
icon is duplicated, but it fully functions as the Steam icon would.
However, if you hold your cursor over the panel so it's visible when Steam
starts then the tray icon appears and functions correctly. And of course if the
panel isn't in autohide mode the tray icon also appears correctly. So it
simply appears that if the panel is not fully visible when Steam starts, the
Steam system tray icon is not loaded correctly.

Hello,
used this demo: http://www.bytefusion.com/download/bin/bftelnetdemo.exe
It seems the control panel applet is _not_ supposed to be installed into
system32.
The "setup.cfg" from temp folder setup contains the following info:
--- snip ---
...
INSTALLPATH c:\Program Files\BFtelnet # application
directory
...
PROGRAMGROUP BFTelnet # Start menu program group
DESKTOPSHORTCUT telm.cpl > BFTelnet : bfsetup.exe : 1
...
SETUPFILE telm.cpl
...
SHORTCUT telm.cpl > BFTelnet : bfsetup.exe : 1
...
# Delete version 1.3 control panel applet
# from system folder. Version 1.4 still uses applet
# but is launched from Start Menu, not control panel
#---------------------------------------------------
DELETEAFTERREBOOT c:\winnt\system32\telm.cpl
--- snip ---
So Wine needs to support these methods:
--- snip ---
$ wine start telm.cpl
fixme:exec:SHELL_execute flags ignored: 0x00000100
Application could not be started, or no application associated with the
specified file.
ShellExecuteEx failed: Success
--- snip ---
or
--- snip ---
$ wine rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL telm.cpl
--- snip ---
Both don't work as of now (needs registry assoc).
Let's make this bug target the registry assoc first and not clutter with
different issues.

Hello,
refining summary.
The vendor for "Math Workshop" app provides the same workaround:
http://support.riverdeep.net/fix.asp?isid=36075&prog=1294818625
(cloning WINSPOOL.DRV file to WINSPOOL.DLL)
Though I think these broken apps should rather die than cluttering Wine with
Win9X workarounds.
The number of apps that needs this should be insignificant nowadays...

Hello,
long time no activity.
The original bug report is pretty old, targeting issues regarding UNC in
general.
The bug summary remains imprecise/vague.
By reading the comments I'm not sure what the _actual_ problem is ... once
again several issues mixed over time.
Any thoughts about closing this and open new ones, targeting specific
problem(s)?

That is as it's always been since 0.9.16, it did work if you set your display
to 16 bit in your /etc/xorg.conf.
The main issue here is to be that wine doesn't seem to do any conversion for 16
bit ddraw surfaces(or it's broken some way or other), and it seems to have done
in 0.9.16.
Sadly, as you can see from the age of this bug report no wine dev gives half a
shit about this, so you can just forget about getting this fixed, unless by
accident. ;)
Take care.

I just bought the version from GoG (1.1) and there seems to be no progress
(wine 1.3.22). In virtual desktop mode it works although it sticks to the
original resolution (640x480 I guess) no matter what I put in winecfg.
In wine full screen and with Fullscreen=0 in Torment.ini it works in a window
without borders. If Fullscreen=1, all I get is a black screen.
In window mode, before starting the game, there is a message:
"Your desktop is not set to 16-bit color depth. As a result, movies will not
play in windowed mode. In addition, many spell effects and other special
graphical features may not work properly. It is suggested that you run in
fullscreen mode or switch your desktop to 16-bit color depth before running in

In the terminal, for window mode, there is:

If you start the game in a clean wineprefix (without any native dlls) you can
observe that the mouse pointer is always recentered in the middle of the
screen. That should be bug #8354.
The problem arises if you work around that bug either by
1) setting MouseWarpOverride to 'disable'
or
2) using native dinput/dinput8 dlls
In either case the mouse pointer is moving fine but mouse clicks don't register
in the game, making it impossible to get past the main menu.
Terminal output is very sparse, showing only:
fixme:win:EnumDisplayDevicesW ((null),0,0x32f8e4,0x00000000), stub!
fixme:d3d:wined3d_swapchain_set_gamma_ramp Ignoring flags 0x1.
fixme:dinput:SysMouseWImpl_Acquire Clipping cursor to (0,0)-(1024,768)
The same problem with Wine-1.0.1, 1.2.3 etc.

Summary: WSASend() fails when lpNumberOfBytesSent is NULL
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.26
Platform: PC

Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P2
Component: winsock
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: arzwine(a)yahoo.com
WSASend() returns an error when lpNumberOfBytesSent (which is an output
parameter) is NULL. There is a condition in WSASendTo() in ws2_32/socket.c
which returns an EFAULT when lpNumberOfBytesSent is a NULL pointer.
While this makes sense, setting this argument to NULL is explicitly allowed by
the MSDN documentation, if the lpOverlapped parameter is present.
Not immediately clear how to fix this, since it involves checking how
overlapped i/o and i/o completion play out.

Anarchy online will not render. However if I place a terminal with top running
in it behind the window, that section of the game window will update whenever
the top program updates.
Similarly, a higher framerate can be achieved on another part of the screen by
using a program with a higher output rate (Such as AO's own output)
Ubuntu lucid 64-bit, 1.3.11 patched
Moving the window (With wobbly windows) or moving to the cube allow me to see
the game in full speed, so I presume this is actually a problem with Xorg
mainly.
Does anyone know why this is doing what it is (Or at least know a cheap hack to
render the window in real time)? Other than opening a giant terminal behind the
game with it's own output pumped in there.

ReportedBy: liquid.acid(a)gmx.net
Hi there,
I just installed the old DirectX 6 (???) game Blood 2: The Chosen. I did apply
the 2.0 patch and after that the 2.1 patch (like it should be done according to
the patching guides on the net).
I can start Blood2, but I have both visual errors and performance problem. This
game is really old, so performance should NOT be a problem. I have a nVidia
Geforce FX 5900, a rather old card but comparing this to the GFX-card I
originally used to play Blood 2 (a Matrix G200) the nVidia is a performance
beast.
Going to attach the wine output when running the application. Installation and
patching was all done through wine, and I had no error messages or warnings
there.
Now coming to the visual problems. Also going to attach some screenshots from
the first level of the game. It looks like some sort of rendering range
problem, maybe z-buffer related or probably something with mipmaps (because
only textures further away from the player are affected). I've already seen
such kind of artifacts, but not on this system but with my integrated intel
i915 chipset (where mipmap support was broken in mesa GIT).
Thanks,
Tobias

autohotkey script
A bit hard to explain, but easy to reproduce...
I'm working on my SoC project, and one of the first programs I tested was
WinSCP. I've got a script written that downloads WinSCP, runs it, downloads a
file from ftp.winehq.org and verifies the sha1sum. Tested on Win2k, runs fine.
Under wine, however, it fails. Looking at the log, easy to see the problem. The
script runs winscp, selects 'welcome.msg', sends 'F5' to download. Here, under
Windows, the path "C:\users\austin", is automatically selected/highlighted.
Under Wine, it's not.
While it's an easy workaround to send CTRL+A before typing the new path, we
should fix this bug as well.
Attached is the autohotkey script. Run with 'wine autohotkey.exe winscp.ahk'.
If it passes, the bug (should be) fixed. (Autohotkey is available from
'winetricks ahk').

I had to use a no-cd patch. There is a main screen where players can create
game users. First of all, mouse pointer is garbaged to a black square. Text box
where a player should enter username and password shows no text when typing.
When starting the game a black screen is shown (sometimes with a loading gadget
at its center) and the game freezes after a while. However, music keeps on
playing.

Visio2007 sp1 faillog
Hi.
On an Ubuntu 8.10, x86_64 system, using latest wine 1.1.15, I could
successfully install Office Visio 2007.
But as soon as I open a VSD file, it closes (crash). I thaught installing visio
2007 sp1 would solve the probelm.
I've dled the service pack from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=496BC7C1-ABD7-4BC7…
and sarted it. Unfortunately the installer fails in the middle of the
isntalation.
I've used winetricks before, to enchance my wine, using these options:
"riched20 vb6run wininet vcrun2005sp1 vcrun2008 winxp volnum fakeie6 allfonts
ie6 vcrun6 gdiplus directx9 wsh56 msxml6 mdac28 vcrun2005 urlmon msxml4 msxml6

I've attached the trace.
Any ideas? Thank you.

Summary: Blinking mouse cursor in center of screen in Fallout:
New Vegas
Product: Wine
Version: 1.3.19
Platform: x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: david(a)mytsoftware.com
After upgrading from 1.3.18 to 1.3.19, I now get a standard mouse pointer stuck
in the exact center of the screen in Fallout: New Vegas. While playing, the
pointer appears and disappears at a regular interval of about 1 second. At the
main menu, it often behaves a little different, appearing when I stop moving
the mouse, and disappearing while I'm moving it.
Fallout 3 and Oblivion do not share this problem.
The working 1.3.18 tested was from the ViVnet PPA for Lucid (the official PPA
hasn't been updated for Lucid since 1.3.17). The 1.3.19 where I experience the
problem was pulled from git (git log shows last commit as being "Release
1.3.19") and built with default options apart from changing the install prefix
(./configure --prefix=/opt/winegit, make -j8, make install) and applying the
unsupported wine-pulse patch (which was also present in the working 1.3.18),
since there are no PPA builds up yet for 1.3.19 on Lucid.
Steam forced an New Vegas update on me the same day as I updated Wine, but I
retested in 1.3.18 to rule out that update, and the problem still wasn't
present in 1.3.18.
I have not compiled my own 1.3.18 to rule out the problem being my own build,
but I haven't experienced any other problems with it. It built fine, but
running "apt-get build-dep wine1.3" beforehand with the official wine ppa
repository added didn't work, saying "Unable to find a source package for
wine1.3". "apt-get build-dep wine" (without the 1.3) did work though.

Actually I just assumed hhc was shipped with wine, I have no idea where I got

1.3.22 - still present, but the game runs a little faster than in previous
versions.
I guess this bug depends on implementation of 32 bit bitmaps, which have the
property of being transparent. If Huw adds this in 1.3.23, the bug will be
fixed (in my view).

80000004" and Soldat must be killed from the command line. Clicking OK in the
error message just causes it to come up again.
This does not happen in single-player (offline play) or in servers without BE
enabled.

Also affects FileMaker Pro 11. Printing forms outputs blank pages, whether to
pdf or to an actual printer. Printing from Linux apps is OK, and FileMaker
prints OK in a windoze virtual machine.

Summary: UpdateLayeredWindow API returns 'success' but doesn't
work
Product: Wine
Version: 1.3.22
Platform: x86
URL: http://www.imgburn.com/
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: user32
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: lightning_uk(a)imgburn.com
Created an attachment (id=35124)
--> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=35124)
3 screenshots showing what the splash screen should look/looks like
I make use of the 'UpdateLayeredWindow' to create/display a fancy looking
transparent splash screen whilst my program (ImgBurn) loads everything it needs
to.
I noticed that 'fancy' splash screen isn't shown under Wine (checked against
v1.3.22 in Ubuntu 11.04). Instead you just see bits of my fallback / legacy
splash screen for old Windows OS (95/98/Me etc) - these are not normally
visible.
Having stepped through all my code, it would appear Wine lies about my call to
'UpdateLayeredWindow' being successful. (If it's not supported/successful, the
program knows to revert to the old splash screen)
I noticed 'IsoBuster' shows a similar layered style splash screen when it loads
in Windows so I tried that under Wine/Ubuntu too - same issue. All you get in
that app is a blank grey box on the screen though.
In order to make it clear that the splash screen isn't functioning correctly,
I've added another set of 'Wine' related images/text to it. These are now the
only ones set to 'visible=true' when 'UpdateLayeredWindow' is supposed to have
worked - but of course they wouldn't normally be visible because the layered
image would be.
I've attached 3 screenshot images.
1. LayeredSplashScreen.png - showing what a layered splash screen looks like -
captured in Windows Vista.
2. StandardSplashScreen.png - showing what a standard/fallback splash screen
looks like (displayed when 'UpdateLayeredWindow' isn't supported/successful) -
captured in Windows Vista having forced the layered one to fail.
3. WineSplashScreen.png - showing what a (supposedly successful) layered splash
screen looks like - captured in Ubuntu 11.04 with Wine 1.3.22.
It's pretty clear that 1 & 3 are nothing alike :)
The way I look at it, either 'UpdateLayeredWindow' needs fixing so it works how
Windows does or it needs to fail properly so the program can deal with the
failure.

After to install Assassin's Creed II, there are 2 updates for the Ubisoft Game
Launcher. (v0101 (initial version) to v0262)
When the update is finished and I launch the game, i have this error with
msvcp90.dll concerning the UGL v0262.
fixme:actctx:parse_assembly_elem wrong version for assembly manifest:

fixme:ntdll:RtlNtStatusToDosErrorNoTeb no mapping for 80000100
The solution is to install vcrun2008 with winetricks. Thanks to this install,
there is an other update for the UGL v0262 to v0323.
In summary :
- Update Ubisoft Game Launcher v0101 -> v0262 = No problem
- Update Ubisoft Game Launcher v0262 -> v0323 (latest version at this day)
without vcrun2008 = Problem
- Update Ubisoft Game Launcher v0262 -> v0323 (latest version at this day) with
vcrun2008 = No problem
I installed Assassin's Creed : Brotherhood in a clean prefix, the UGL installed
during the installation is > v0262 so there isn't this problem with msvcp90.dll
when UGL is updated to v0323.

Installs fine in wine-1.2-rc4-147-geaa227c. It complains about missing
icacls.exe (and also uses the dummy cacls that is already in wine), which may
be related to the bug, since the few fixme's that do show up are related to
advapi32 and the EA error message is about permissions.
Once you've installed, try to run EACoreCLI.exe. You'l get an error dialog:
The application failed to initialize properly. Please ensure you are not
attempting to run the application on multiple Windows accounts simultaneously.
If the problem persists, please reinstall the application.
Terminal shows:

fixme:advapi:SaferCreateLevel (2, 40000, 1, 0x30dda8, (nil)) stub
none of winetricks ie6 dcom98 msmxl3 helped (not that I expected them to, but
I'm grasping at straws here).

Well, i was trying to install Simcity 4 using wine 1.1.34 after a fresh install
last day. When launching the installation wizard, Wine claims it detected a
debugger and needs to close. This didnt happen on 1.1.33.
Thanks

Summary: The car shadows appear red and blocky.
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.1
Platform: PC
URL: http://flatout2.sierra.com/us/
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P3
Component: -unknown

It seems that the map is split into a grid, and the squares of the grid that
are affected by shadows are rendered with a red shade. When the shadow moves
forward so much that it would touch the next square, that square gets filled
with red immediately, so the squares sort of "jump" forward.
This is a screenshot from the AppDB:
http://appdb.winehq.org/appimage.php?iId=18818
And a demo version can be found here:
http://www.gamershell.com/download_16702.shtml
This is the only, and so far most severe bug I've found in the game running in
Wine, it's quite annoying! It would be good enough if there was a way to
disable the shadows!

Summary: Mouse movement issues while playing Fullscreen WoW

Whenever playing World of Warcraft in either Fullscreen or Windowed (
Fullscreen ) modes the mouse behaves erratically when trying to turn with it.
It jumps in huge increments as it turns instead of being a smooth mouse
movement. As well, with the Windowed ( Fullscreen ) mode the mouse is locked
to that screen and unable interact with windows outside of that screen. This
behavior only started occurring with wine-1.3.18.
