The launcher crashes on start with Gecko-1.2.0 installed. I noticed that the crash happens if Wine was compiled with CFLAGS >=-O1. (-O2 as well as -O1 produce the same crash). If I compile Wine with -O0 the launcher starts without crashing. I always compile Wine from source but this time I gave a try to the Wine package, available from the Fedora repository (currently 1.3.20 is in the repos): the same crash happened on game launch. If I install ie6 (via winetricks) no crash occurs on launch. To reproduce the problem in the demo: After launching the demo only the background is drawn: you have to click on the lower left part of the screen and the menu appears. Here comes the trouble: after clicking on any of the menu items nothing happens. Oddly enough if you press the <ESC> button and the left mouse button in turn, while the mouse is over one of the menu options, the corresponding window flashes for a brief moment but it vanishes almost instantly. The same problem happens back until Wine-1.2-rc2. I have the KDE control bar displayed only on the left screen. When I start MS Word 2007 via wine 1.1.37 and place it on the right screen (which does not have the control bar!) I can see a cut off bottom when I maximize the window via the window manager. I will attach two screenshots: - The first shows a window which fits to the screen as if there was also a control bar on the right screen. - The second shows a maximized window on the right screen with the bottom cut off Note: I also tried to manually resize the window to the maximum of the screen. This gets stuck at 30% and never completes. Sometimes it times out with an error. Normally, you can click-and-drag to adjust window sizes and placement in the game. However, when I let go of the mouse button, the game does not notice. 1.3.17 is not affected. Tried with the digital distribution version of the game from Gamersgate which contains no copy-protection. I have to kill the process and restore the gamma through Nvidia control panel. I've tried both fullscreen and virtual desktop mode, the same hanging occurs. This bug prevents the username from being properly read in all version of of Kindle for PC when run under wine. The Kindle for PC code allocates a buffer of 1 wchar and then calls GetUserNameW and upon error checks for the 122 error code (insufficient buffer) and if needed doubles the buffer size in question and tries again. It does not understand the 234 error code at all and so will error out unable to read the user's username. The K4PC code luckily ignores the improper last error code value and simply replaces the username with the string "AlternateUserName" so the KindleForPC.exe will actually still work under wine even though this bug exists. The problem is that this bug actually changes how the DRM is created on the ebook as the Kindle DRM is tied to both the user's username and the volume serial number, making it impossible to post-process any ebook under wine. Switching to another TTY works, and when I switch back to the GUI all I see is black (from the application being in fullscreen mode). I can Alt+Tab away from Fallout 3, though once Alt is released the black screen returns (however keyboard input will affect the window selected using Alt+Tab, you just can't see it). Killing the process fixes everything again. Wine also doesn't return anything to the terminal, when usually it returns a load of fixmes. When I terminate Fallout3.exe I just get 'Segmentation fault'. The cursor still works however. All these camera bugs may happen successively on a few moments, then disappear. Commonly, it begins on exiting a station, continues until the next one, and then view is back to normal. - sound malfunction: on a single ride, I had no sound at all. - keys may have to be pressed twice for the function to be actived. This bug have I encountered very rarely. Some bugs/crash reports are not related to copy protection at all and get lost/overlooked due to this metabug noise. Just tested it with Dreamweaver 8.0 and Wine V1.3.15. DW installs fine and seems to work well with pretty much everything you ask of it until you resize or move the outer containing window, whereupon various components of the window are not repainted and you are left with a very broken looking screen. DW has not crashed and you can use Alt-F to get the File menu and close down gracefully. F5 does not redraw the whole window, just the preview area. Workaround seems to be to just maximise DW as soon as it opens. As far as I have been able to test so far, this seems to prevent the problem - including Dan's reported 'New Site' bug of 2007-07-11. Happy to perform any specific tests if it would help pin the bug down. This is so near being perfect. DinkSmallwoodHDInstaller.exe uses a new game engine and does not deal with Wine's DIB in needed way for testing this bug, so do not use this version. Download and install it. When frontend has been shown up, run the game with default tick values. Well the Dosbox window will flash on screen for a moment, but then just close out. The following message is the one recieved if I use wine to launch the DOS exe through a cli. ie - 'wineconsole *.exe'. In several games and apps the mouse is jumping around when moved. Does not matter how much you move it, it will jump to the left and up. It is not so bad with 2D apps, but with 3D apps like games that use the mouse to point & click, point & navigate, point & drag, or just to move the mouse to mark where you want to see or head to, it is a very bad problem. The following tested games have this issue: Shadowgrounds Shadowgrounds Survivors Revenge of the Titans Counter Strike Source Half Life 2 + Expansions Left4Dead + Expansions Left4Dead2 + Expansions Quake 3 Hitman 3 Hitman Blood money Penumbra + Expansions Amnesia Call of Duty 2 Call of Duty 3 Call of Duty 4 I have to add that the jumpy problem does not happen in the menu of the game. It happens when you go inside the world of the game. When the 3D world for it appears. An example is Hitman, in the menu the mouse works perfect. When i go inside a world the problem starts. Same for Call of Duty, Penumbra, L4D, etc.. This patch is posted on Bug 15695 as a possible solution. I created a git clone of the latest wine source on my machine, I copy the patch abletonexport.diff to the wine directory and then from within that directory type: patch -p1 <abletonexport.diff At which point it fails. resulting error attached. When an action begins the status bar should appear light blue in the lower left corner of the screen with text describing the action, and when the action is complete the status bar should disappear. When running Chrome in Wine the status bar does does not correctly appear and disappear. Problems include: the status bar is present without any status text when chrome starts, loading pages almost never triggers updating the status bar with a status message, the status bar occasionally shows through windows placed in front of the chrome window, rarely the status bar does change but it then returns to being stuck in the new state. The stuck status bar is blue, but attempts to capture the status bar with a screen shot result in the status bar simply being incorrectly rendered. Game wasn't installed from original installer, I extracted it from that package - http://tinyurl.com/osuunpack - they're absolutely identical. Game runs, all is working properly before I select a song to play. After selecting I can play only about 20-30 seconds, and after that music continue playing, but there is no game window, only error screen (see attachment pic). Also, pressing both "Restart osu!" and "Exit osu!" buttons make game restart. My computer hardware: Processor - Intel Pentium 4 506 (overclocked to 3,66 GHz), M/B - MSI G31TM-P35, Videocard - NVidia GeForce 8600 GTS. OS: Ubuntu 11.04, with custom bulit 2.6.38.4 kernel. DE: LXDE. Rainmeter is a program which displays various GUI elements within Windows, featuring system information neatly displayed in a varying array of skinned elements, whether they be text, abstract graphic, anime, or otherwise. The program itself installs and loads with no issue presented, however on loading a skin, the problem becomes very evident. A screenshot and command prompt log are attached to this report for show. If other things are requested, I will attach them as well. If you just try to move it a little it will move those degrees. If you keep moving it it will move every 1 to 2 seconds that many degrees and you move the mouse very fast to one of the sides, like trying to point something 90 degrees of you, it will move the mouse almost 180 degrees from the point you wanted. The problem of some crashes has ended with the 1.3.20 i must say but am still testing this. I have to add the in 1.3.19 an previous the problem was that when i moved the mouse it started doing circles around me very fast, like i was moving the mouse very fast. It's a slow refresh rate of the mouse, causing aim to jump about once or twice a second while holding a mouse button. Frame rate and keyboard are fine while it is happening. This lag isn't an issue if the capture option is disabled. Has anyone else noticed this? The attached picture shows a bad and a good case. Using git bisect I have found that problematic commit is c29cf0591976f96c3adb30c3c3b6db59f4983251 - winex11: Add support for 32-bit DDBs I also verified that git revert of villain patch on the current master branch (5815b639794fa5e8e79754d86b66c6a03596731d) really corrects the problem. I have tested that the problem is not in the placement of wine_tsx11_lock call. I moved it before the line if (!X11DRV_XRender_SetPhysBitmapDepth( physBitmap, bitmap.bmBitsPixel, NULL ... but the problem remained. Currently I have no clue where the problem could be. I did not exploit the credentials to fetch the remote binaries ... It should be deleted anyway.
