Smiles window opened under chat window.
Under Unity environment (Ubuntu netbook edition) windows like "smiles" and
"chat history" which must appear on top of chat window, appear behind it
instead. This bug appears after chat window lost it's focus and gained it
again. Even cicking at these windows can't bring ones to front. Under gnome
environment everything is fine with these windows.

File operations are very slow in Solidworks (all versions), and most of the
time saving fails, application is hung, and has to be killed from the console
with control-c or winserver -k
The issue seems to be related to storage implementation, as the new transacted
mode made the things slower and unstable.
WINEDEBUG=-all,+storage generates huge logs, ( 4 Gb in 10 minutes !) just for a
4 Mb file opening, and it doesn't succeed, it has to be killed. Looks like an
infinite loop or a race condition...
Attached WINEDEBUG=-all,fixme+storage log for a file open operation. The file
save hangs Solidworks, with 100% cpu.

The patching works fine, though, I am unable to type anything on the log in
screen.
I can select which char field has focus with the mouse, and the cursor blinks,
but other than that typing results to nothing.
One side effect I noticed, the last app that had focus before GW, was a pidgin
window.
So while I was presented with GW log in screen, the key strokes, where typed in
the pidgin chat window.
Weird.
I tried downgrading to ubuntu hardy's, default wine version, but no luck there
either.

This bug is not present in wine 1.1.40 but comes in sometime after(it's hard to
tell because the game crashes with other versions). If you move the mouse up or
down in the actual game itself(not menus) or the scenario editor, there are
duplicated cursors displayed when moving the mouse up and down(not left/right,
oddly). The pointer is upside down for the mirrored one and moves the exact
opposite direction as the regular cursor. You wind up with two being drawn. The
console scrolls "fixme:d3d:context_apply_blit_state Applying blit state for an
offscreen target with ORM_FBO. This should be avoided." very rapidly.

Summary: NewsLeecher 'send to tray' broken
Product: Wine
Version: 1.3.9
Platform: All
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: patrick_stokman(a)hotmail.com
When using NewsLeecher, version doesn't really matter as it's from 3.x to 4.0,
but v4 final can be used for testing, you can send it to the system tray. This
results in a transparent square icon in the notification area that doesn't
work.
When hovering over it with the mouse, there should be a tooltip with the
download speed. That doesn't show. Right clicking it should give a context
menu, doesn't show either and most annoying: you can't bring NL back by left
clicking on the icon. Launching NL again has a chance to get it back, but it
often happens that that doesn't even work. You end up with NL in the tray
unable to recover and you have to kill the process to close it.
This problem has existed for some time, but it's become completely broken since
1.3. With 1.0 and 1.2, there were cases where the icon would show and restoring
would work from there. Whenever the icon disappears or never shows, it's not
working and you have to launch it again to recover, with some luck.
This happens on both 32 bit and 64 bit of Wine. Running Xubuntu 10.10 x64 at
the moment, but showed in the past too.

Console output when running Blitzkrieg.
Blitzkrieg game silently crashes when selecting 'Allies campaign' from the main
menu, but starts fine when German or Russian campaigns are selected. When a
campaign is selected, an intro movie (BIK movie) is displayed, an then a
mission briefing.
The problem is not related to BIK movies, because I removed them from
Data/Movies directory and Allies campaign still doesn't work.
Attached is console output when running Blitzkrieg. It looks the same no matter
what campaign was selected.

Summary: Changing from OpenGL to Direct3D output in WinUAE
results in blank screen
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.4
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P2
Component: directx-d3d
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: markk(a)clara.co.uk
WinUAE is an open source (GPL) emulator of Amiga computers, available from
http://www.winuae.net/.
The output of WinUAE can be rendered using DirectDraw (default), Direct3D or
OpenGL. On changing from OpenGL to Direct3D output, the WinUAE window turns
completely white; the emulation still runs, but its display is blank.
(This issue may or may not be related to bug 15156 and/or bug 15256.)
To demonstrate:
- Run WinUAE 1.5.2
- Select a disk image for drive DF0: in the Floppy drives page, e.g.
rsi1.adf.gz from ftp://ftp.coresystems.de/pub/uae/rsi1.adf.gz
- In the filter page, check the Enable box and select the OpenGL filter.
- Click Start to start the emulation.
- After a few seconds press F12 to bring up the settings window.
- In the Filter page, change from OpenGL to Direct3D.
- To work around Wine bug 10643, click in the main window and press F12.
- Click OK to dismiss the settings window. The main window is completely
white.
Console output which appears on doing that is:

Hi,
I've tried to build wine 1.3.7 with DIB engine using provided patch "DIB Engine
- Rebased on wine-1.3.7" and looks like I managed to do this properly - all
patches were applied, configuration passed without warnings and wine were
compiled and installed.
Now I have a problem. When I trying to run Elona with enabled DIB engine
(export WINEDIB=ON in terminal) it just spams few rows of
"err:driver:Load_Dib_Driver Couldn't load DIB Engine" at the beginning and
works as slow as before. Is there any way to understand what I doing wrong?
How could I check is DIB Engine working at all? I even tried to use fresh
folder for WINEPREFIX but it didn't help.

Hello!
I was recently installing the HRC Data Logger Software. It comes with DirectX
0.9b.
Installation runs without any problems. When calling the program, it shows some
error
dialogs, such as: "Error 91: Object variable or width block variable not set".
The open file dialog shows this error box: "Error 429: ActiveX component can't
create object". The file open dialog then is somewhat damaged: The combo box
that holds the drives only shows one entry: Desktop. If you put a file there
and open it, you get some messages from above, and no charts are displayed.
Please see the attachment for the output.
I can reproduce this behaviour at any time.
I am using kubuntu jaunty jackalope.
best regards,

browsing the registry tree with wine regedit I see the registry right where the

I am inferring that the reason it can't read this registry is because it has

other applications using wine.
Apoligies if this bug report is rough. I have never raised one before and I'm

I play games in wine in a maybe unusual settings, but very convenient in my
opinion: I start wine in a second X server so that, in case of a major bug in
wine, I can kill it quickly with Ctrl-Alt-Backspace.
I play Warhammer Soulstorm and Neverwinter Nights 2 that way; but when I leave
the game running in the 2nd server, and switch back to the 1st one
(Ctrl-Alt-F1), then come back to the 2nd one, the fonts sometimes get
corrupted: some characters are missing, or are garbled, or are blocky.
IIRC, it happened when I upgraded the X.org server about 1 year ago, but I
can't be sure.

properly own application whit mspaint that registry information for those kind

This seemed like a great implementation (except for the fact that it required
the placeholder to be created), but I've finally discovered a side effect.
Press F1, or accessing the help dialogue in Sibelius 4 will try to open the

error involving gdiplus.dll appears in the console.
I have attached the full console output for your perusal.

The problem is that whenever I want to run Warcraft III in wine, it runs on my
19" Viewsonic which is non-default. I also lose support of the cursor if I move
on to the 19" Viewsonic which is running Warcraft III, and it isn't just
invisible - because I have tried clicking in numerous locations blindly.
I do have keyboard support If I do not click off the application - otherwise
the game dissapears but is still running in the background.
It is set up as the 20" (0) and the 19" (1), in the nvidia settings. So the 20"
should be default.

The redraw issue seems that the tile is completely redraw even false 3DÂ edges
(as if we drop the full tile above the map, with Earth crust.) I don't know
what is wine instance malfunction is, but either :
- redrawn tile may exclude false-3D earth crust
- neighbour tile should be partially redrawn
In my screenshots I provide :
1- A single blank tile on top left (behavior here is normal as seen on
Windows)
2- A map after a upward move (see all redrawn hexes on the bottom line
features earthcrust)
3- Same game after left move
4- Same map location after map forced refresh (Should be screenshot)
The game is sale there :

A Delphi application (specifically CortexEDI) has worked perfectly on wine up
through wine-1.1.11 (See #16847 for regression after 1.1.11).
A new version of this application uses HTTPS through Clever Internet Suite VCL
6.2. The specific point of failure, per the vendor's helpful support is an HTTP
post to check the connection to a central server for data interchange.
Relevant (I presume) sample code is here:
http://clevercomponents.com/products/inetsuite/requestbuilder.asp
Aside from the HTTPS connection check, the application continues to work
perfectly on wine. Any assistance that would allow continued compatibilty with
wine would be greatly appreciated.

Sprint-Layout is a very good PCB design software.
The bug is that clicking on a trace, which is not vertical, doesn't select it.
So, this trace cannot be dragged.
Also, lots of components can't be selected and dragged, too. That makes the
program literally unusable, while in Windows working with it is very
productable.
I've attached a console output. It consists of only one error, but this error
should be the one we need.

Log of messages from Wine, after launching Lineage II
When running the game Lineage II: Scions of Destiny (Chronicle 4), game
performance is much lower than when running same game on same machine in
Windows.
Even on the lowest detail settings of the game and a low resolution of
1024x768, the performance seems to be graphics-limited, as FPS often drop to
less than 10 or 5, especially when a large number of polygonal models (game
characters) appear on screen. On the other hand, when launched in Windows,
performance is much higher and the same machine can handle all graphic details
maxed out at a resolution of 1280x1024, and still play much more smoothly.
Tried to use the fglrx UseFastTLS workaround (as described in
http://wiki.winehq.org/fglrx), no significant change with any of the possible
values of that option.
The hardware is AMD Phenom X4, 8 GB of RAM, Radeon HD3870 with Catalyst version
9.2, running an amd64 port of Debian 5.0 with a 2.6.28 Linux kernel.
Of course there's the sentiment that "you shouldn't expect native performance
when you go through two kinds of API translations just to draw something on
screen", but I see some GL and D3D-related messages on the Wine log (attached),
which perhaps could explain the slowdown and are an evidence that it can be
fixed.. or not?

This application is a kind of "HelpDesk" application that allow peoples that
are looking your site to click in a link and starts a conversations with the
seller, almost like a msn. It's used to boost in the selling process of
hardware stuff, in this case. But can be used for any commerce segment. So you
have to install it in windows and in your site. Works very fine there, and the
installation file is very small (3,7M). I dont know exactly how the app works,
but I know it tries to contact their site to confirm an address email and
password that you must to have, then allows you to use the app. It's free, and
we have no support here for this applicattion (almost like "use it at your own
risk"). But It works apparently fine.
How can see in the attached file, the problem starts when the app tries to
contact their site. It's possible to see a lot of "fixme:ole" errors. After
doing what's suggested by the Wine's site (install dcom98 impplementation), a
lot of logs desappears but we still have problems. Apparently it's about the
rpcrt4. Even if you change the rpcrt4 and both ole32 and oleaut32 to "native",
the problems exists. In the file I give more information about the system
(kernel, OS...)
Sorry about my bad english.
Thanks.

I'm using Wine 1.1.17 (compiled from source using gcc version 4.3.2 20081105
(Red Hat 4.3.2-7) ) on Fedora 10 i386. I've got installed: gecko, gdiplus,
vcrun2003, corefonts, msxml3, dotnet20 through winetricks
I get crash when I close window that should display something to read but it's
blank.
Steps to reproduce:
1) start AutoCAD Mechanical 2008
2) go to Help->Launchpad , blank window is opened
3) close that window, window closes
4) application receives no input and the screen dimes and after ca. 3 secs
crashes without error message
Error that appears in terminal is:
err:mshtml:nsChannelBSC_stop_binding RemoveRequest failed: 80004005

Enhanced graphic features, such as SM (Shader Model) 2.0, SM 3.0, anti-aliasing
are not working under wine. When configuring the game, SM 3.0 and anti-aliasing
settings display 'N/A'. You can select them anyway, but they won't work in
game. SM 2.0 is available, but it seems it doesn't work, too.
I have Xubuntu 8.10 installed on a notebook with GF6600 Go with nvidia binary
drivers. I also have d3dx9_27.dll, d3dx9_30.dll and d3dx9_33.dll files from
orgiginal DX (the game requires them).
The bug happens in a free version (Trackmania Nations Forever) too, as both
games share the engine.
Previous versions of wine didn't work with SM > 1.0
(http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13191). It was fixed later, but it
seems a simple workaround was made.

Crash Log.
First, let me say that I am *profoundly* impressed by how far Wine has come. I
tried CodeWarrior Pro 8.3 with Wine back in 2003 or so, and it didn't even come
close to working. Now it is completely usable; each of the three bugs I'll be
reporting has a workaround.
If Metrowerks CodeWarrior's IDE.exe is named on the Wine command line with an
absolute pathname, there will be a NULL pointer dereference in the Metrowerks
Standard Library DLL IDE_MSL_DLL80_x86.dll,
The crash is 100% repeatible with an absolute path, but never happens if the
IDE is launched with any kind of relative path. So the workaround it to never
use an absolute pathname.
The happy news is that the source code to the Metrowerks Standard Library is
included with CodeWarrior itself, though it's possible that the DLL that
IDE.exe links to has been patched somehow.
(The MSL is CodeWarrior's portable C and C++ standard libraries - apps built
with CodeWarrior don't normally use the ones bundled with the OS.)
The bad news is that CodeWarrior is no longer sold for building desktop
applications, just embedded ones. CodeWarrior Pro 8 is therefore hard to come
by, though it can sometimes be had used. Possibly you could reproduce the bug
with the free 30-day evaluation of FreeScale's Windows-hosted embedded
development system at the link above.
The old desktop tools publisher was Metrowerks; CodeWarrior Pro ran on both Mac
and Windows, and could produce binaries for both platforms while running on
either platform.
The following crashes every time:
wine "/home/mike/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Metrowerks/CodeWarrior/IDE.exe"
But remove the initial slash, and it *works* every time:
cd /
wine "home/mike/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Metrowerks/CodeWarrior/IDE.exe"
I discovered the crash by trying to write a double-clickable shell script for
use under Gnome in Fedora 10. The workaround is to use the following script
instead:
#!/bin/sh
DRIVE_C=~/.wine/drive_c
# Note that because the Program Files folder has a space in
# its name, it must be quoted.
PROGRAM_FILES="$DRIVE_C/Program Files"
( cd "$PROGRAM_FILES" ; \
/usr/bin/wine Metrowerks/CodeWarrior/Bin/IDE.exe )
My box is a Core Quad Xeon, a 5230 I think, running Fedora 10 x86_64 with 8 GB
of memory.
To set up CW 8.3, you'll need to install CW 8, then run the 8.2 and 8.3
updaters, then rebuild all the libraries. In more detail:
1. Make CD images of the two installation CDs - Windows Tools and Windows
Reference. I used the Mac OS X Disk Utility to make a CD/DVD Master image
(.cdr). I don't think it would work to make a compressed image (.dmg).
2. Create a directory that will be used as Wine's CD drive, then configure Wine
to actually use it as the CD drive. In Fedora 10, I use /media/WineD.
3. mount -o loop Tools.cdr /media/WineD
4. cd /media/WineD; wine Launch.exe
5. Do a full installation of the tools
6. umount /media/WineD
7. mount -o loop Reference.cdr /media/Wined
8. cd /media/WineD; wine Launch.exe
9. Do a full installation of the documentation
10. umount /media/WineD
11. Install the 8.2 and 8.3 updates:
12. wine CW_Pro8.2_Patch.exe
13. wine CW_Pro8.3_Patch.exe
14. After the 8.3 update, the Installer wants you to rebuild the libraries, and
offers to open the library rebuilding projects.
15. Project->Remove Object Code
16. Project->Make
After all that you'll be at the configuration with which I discovered the
crash.

ReportedBy: thevladsoft(a)gmail.com
As it says, wine server uses a lot of cpu starting the game spore, within 30%
and 40%, using the kernel 2.6.32-26-generic on ubuntu. In my computer (an old
semprom 2600+, single core of course), this mean the game never starts.
If I start ubuntu with a previous kernel, 2.6.32-25-generic, it starts
normally, and wineserver uses very little. I find out because that was the only
think that changed since when the game ran and the moment it stopped
functioning.
Not grave, but annoying. Worst think is that its the only one failing (that I
noticed, some times games and windows programs are crappy just because :) ).
Also, the game has this exit when it fails starting:
"fixme:thread:SetThreadIdealProcessor (0x70): stub
fixme:thread:SetThreadIdealProcessor (0x78): stub"
sporeapp.exe will use +60% of cpu and wineserver +30% cpu, as stated.

wine eject works for the first two disc switches,
but on the third one, the app complains of corruption.

FWIW, I've added this to winetricks, use 'winetricks opensymbol' with
winetricks from SVN.

Bug 25548 give the solution:
- installing "ttf-opensymbol" package (taken from ubuntu natty) create a
working wingdings alternative "opens__.ttf"
- this font is located at: /usr/share/fonts/truetype/openoffice/opens__.ttf
- as wine dont find it there, you need to copy "opens__.ttf" to wine
/windows/Fonts/
- then wingdings.ttf is no more needed.

hi,
i'm using metatrader (MT4 & MT5) and so need to display some special signs like
"arrow" provided by wingdings.ttf while using Windows.
As i dont use/have Windows anymore i've installed ttf-opensymbol (ubuntu
maverick i386) to get an alternative and can be found into:
/usr/share/fonts/truetype/openoffice/ as "opens__.ttf".
The problem is: this font have to be copied into /windows/Fonts/ inside .wine
because it dont find it into openoffice dir and wine1.3 dont propose it as a
dependency, winetricks dont help neither.
As a sub-note: inside /windows/Fonts/ i'm seeing fonts naming either with ttf
uppercase (Times.TTF) or lowercase (unifont.ttf) or mixed (DroidSans.ttf).
Those are installed either by wine1.3 itself or by winetricks. As everything is
case sensitive, i wonder if wine is able to use both uppercase & lowercase ttf
fonts (need to be normalized).

it is not worth to modify wineoss.drv to support multiple waveoutopen even when
your sound card is emu10k1 since the oss emulation open full duplex
playback/capture streams at the same time
You may need to try wineesd.drv instead of wineoss.drv

Terminal output seen when setup attempts to play MIDI music
When attempting to install the game King's Quest Collection Series (the 1997
edition), setup.exe performs a system test and is unable to play MIDI music. It
first displays a message saying that it is testing "extended MIDI support" and
asks if sound is heard (it isn't). After selecting No, it repeats for "basic
MIDI support" (still nothing is heard).
Same behaviour in wine 1.3.6 and 1.2.0.
Terminal output appears to implicate mciseq/mcimidi.c.
Marking as minor since the installer proceeds anyway and loss of MIDI music
would not be a show-stopper for enjoyment of the game.
Not marking with "installer" keyword since the bug would probably occur when
playing the game too.

After World of Warcraft starts downloading something (patch downloader, the

basically unable to do anything network related but World of Warcraft keeps
running "fine".
I think it's specifically DNS that stops working but I'm not completely sure
about that. I'm completely unable to open any web pages in a browser or connect
to anything and it persists even if I kill Wine. I've tried rmmodding my
ethernet module, ifdown && ifup, etc... Nothing seems to make it work again
except waiting for like 10 minutes after a "wineserver -k".
Wine is constantly spamming this in a loop in the terminal:
"fixme:wininet:InternetSetOptionW Option INTERNET_OPTION_CONNECT_TIMEOUT

fixme:wininet:InternetSetOptionW INTERNET_OPTION_SEND/RECEIVE_TIMEOUT 10000

"wine-1.3.8"
I'm using a static IP behind a NAT and using my ISP's DNS servers. My
integrated NIC uses the "sky2" module. I don't think that my router is choking
up from packets since its CPU usage isn't spiking up.
Wine 1.2 also exhibits this same behaviour.

Sorry, I mean 1.3.8. (this is not my first mistake between the .8 and .9
versions)
The window manager still has to refresh after the run, but that's a bug in X
(which is not likely to be ever fixed, normally X does not need to refresh the
whole panel). I guess this also happens with the Windows taskbar. But all the
other programs (Nautilus, Evolution, Google Chrome) are directly restored to
their normal state.
I did not notice cells that become corrupted or all alike as someone said 10
years ago. This seems to be fixed.
When some program outside Wine tries to draw, everything drawn appears in the
rectangles but they stay scrambled and Scramble stays running and looking
normal.
This is not buggy anymore.
Of course the window of a non-Wine program isn't locked, but this is not needed
anymore.

I can't copy text from Photoshop CS5 to Aptana or other text editor.
This bug is very bad, because HTML-coders can't normally copy text from PSD. So
we can't switch to linux fully... GIMP can't show text elements in PSD as a
text.

Summary: Skip unsupported MPEG streams in quartz instead of
waiting
Product: Wine
Version: 1.2
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P2
Component: quartz
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: b7.10110111(a)gmail.com
There are some games, namely GTA(III, VC, SA) which show MPEG movies at startup
which need to be skipped by pressing a key, otherwise these games won't
continue startup. Every time this message appears:
fixme:quartz:MPEGSplitter_query_accept MPEG-1 system streams not yet supported.
Why not just skip these movies (reporting EOF to the app) instead of waiting
for something (a key press in this case)? It would improve usability of the
above named games and some other ones. Current behaviour could make the games
unplayable if there were no in-game way of skipping the movies.

As of wine 1.3.9, for what concerns the transparency of the icon background in
the application LTSPICE (invoked with the -nowine switch to make it run in the
standard MS windows way, rather than adopting wine-aware hacks) the bug is
still present.
See it by
1) downloading the application that is free to use from
http://www.linear.com/designtools/software/ and install it
2) start it with the -nowine switch
3) File -> new schematic
4) Simulate -> control panel
5) observe the background of the icons in the control panel tabs
6) retry on windows or without the -nowine switch to see how they should be.

What should be possible, is that Wine converts a .lnk to .desktop when a
program copies it into any Desktop folder. When a program tries to move the
'lnk' away, the .desktop is converted back to .lnk. If a program tries to
rename/delete a .lnk on the desktop, it is done with the .desktop file. When a
program queries a list of files in the desktop folder, the .desktop files seem
(to the Windows program) to be named .lnk.
Just an idea how to solve this problem.

The Rise of Nations hangs on "Removing icons...". This is a regression in WINE
1.3.7, which does not occur in WINE 1.3.6.
You can reproduce this issue by making a fresh WINE prefix directory, running
winetricks mfc42 and then running the installer. Running winetricks mfc42 is
needed for the installer to work properly. Otherwise, it will hang saying that
it cannot load pidgen.dll. That is probably an issue for another bug report.

rzipped +file traces
This bug affects every game from the developer Sonalysts:
Jane's 688(I) Hunter-Killer
Fleet Command
Sub Command
Dangerous Waters
Symptom: all these games are missing sound effects and voices (only music
works). The games store their sound files (.wav) in a Sfx.agg archive. Running
the games in Wine with winedebug=+file reveals that Wine cannot find the
appropriate sound files. A typical line from the log:
warn:file:OpenFile (C:\Program Files\Sonalysts Combat Simulations\Dangerous
Waters Demo\Audio\Sfx\sfx.agg+pinged.wav): return = HFILE_ERROR error= 2
Notice the path to the relevant sound file: '\sfx.agg+pinged.wav'.
Apparently in a native Windows environment it doesn't cause problems, but does
in Wine.
A 'dirty' workaround is to extract the .wavs using an utility called agg.exe,
and placing them into a directory named: sfx.agg+.
You can test the issue using the demo of Dangerous Waters, link added to URL.

Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.21

Status: NEW
Severity: normal

Component: user32

ReportedBy: thunderbird2k(a)gmail.com
Hi,
For a couple of days I have been trying to locate a bug in a program I'm
working. The program itself is written in Smalltalk using Visualworks. Under
the hood Visualworks is doing all win32 gui drawing itself (it also works on
other platforms).
The program in question has a top level window on which a win32 interface is
drawn including a menu bar. Clicking on the menu bar inactivates the top level
window. I have been debugging it for some days and I think it is somehow
related to SetFocus. Disabling all SetFocus / SetForegroundWindow calls in
user32 appears to make the issue disappear. The app itself only calls SetFocus
but Wine itself makes SetForegroundWindow calls.
The menu window has WS_POPUP and WS_DISABLED set (the top level window also has
WS_DISABLED set). Further Alexandre suspects there is something wrong with the
focus handling code in case of WM_MOUSEACTIVATE.
I have uploaded a test app which illustrates the problem to: (note the server
isn't always online) http://roderick.student.utwente.nl/menutest.tar.gz
I have also attached a log of +win,+msg to here. The app window is called
'vwnt'.
Regards,
Roderick

Summary: GTA III and Vice City crash after the intro video
Product: Wine
Version: 1.3.8
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P2
Component: winegstreamer
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: gyebro69(a)gmail.com
Created an attachment (id=32316)
--> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=32316)
terminal output
Both GTA III and GTA: Vice City crash after the intro video played. The issue
is reproducible only if Wine is compiled with gstreamer support and the
required gstreamer plugins are installed.
Unlike others reported in bug #24932, there are several differences so I think
this is another bug:
1) GTA: San Andreas is not affected
2) the crash also occurs when using OSS as sound driver
Workaround: disable winegstreamer.
Instead of being a regression, I guess there is something still missing in
Wine's gstreamer (or quartz) implementation.
The crash is still present in the current git (wine-1.3.8-113-g9d9ce29).
I must add, something has changed in the git version: while in 1.3.8 the crash
was always fatal (the game's own exception handler came up first), in git only
Wine throws up the error reporting dialogue but the game continues to load
properly after the crash.
I'd like to assign this bugreport to Maarten Lankhorst; he can surely add a few
words on this.
