Clicking "close" on this error dialog results in a crash.
A workaround is 'winetricks ie6'. The culprit appears to be mshtml:
* Removing all overrides added by winetricks except mshtml doesn't bring back
the error (though there's a failure shortly afterward unless native urlmon is
used)
* Removing only the override for mshtml makes this error return
The following line appears in terminal output as the error message appears:

While version 1.0 of this game has working BGM in Wine now, version 1.2 still
has an issue. Sometimes, seemingly at random, the background music doesn't
play. Other times, it works just fine. Strangely, when it doesn't play,
clicking the "framerate" option on the menu bar can make it start playing.
Whether this works or not also seems to be random, but clicking it repeatedly
almost always works eventually.
Wine outputs a lot of of the fixmes seen repeatedly in the terminal output
whether the music plays or not. This particular log is from current git after
starting a match, finding that the music wasn't playing, and then clicking
"framerate" several times until it started playing.

terminal output (with gst plugins installed)
Chaser crashes before the game reaches the main menu. The crash is reproducible
only when Wine was compiled with gstreamer support.
I've tried two scenarios (both resulted the same crash but with different
output):
1) no gstreamer plugins are installed: the game crashes right after startup
since no appropriate codecs installed to play the intro videos.
2) the necessary gstreamer plugins are installed (the 'ugly' and the 'ffmpeg'
ones): the intro videos are playing fine and the game crashes after the last
video.
Workaround: disable the winegstreamer.dll in winecfg's libraries tab.
The issue is still present with the current git (wine-1.3.7-207-gb6a1951).
Link to the demo added to URL (147 MB download size).

graphical glitches drawing the gun
When BFBC2 first loads a level, or when it moves to another sublevel within a
level, it usually starts to draw random polygons (or nothing at all) instead of
the gun that the player is holding. The polygons are not necessarily related to
the position of the gun. See attached image for an example.
Changing the graphics resolution (from the options menu while in-game) fixes
the glitches until the next level or sublevel loads.
It does this with both the native and built-in DirectX drivers and with both
the nvidia 260.19.21 and 260.19.26 drivers (nvidia 8600M GT graphics card).
I posted some debug output at http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=22617 (the
attachment is http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=31765) in case it helps.

If you try running it with mono, it fails with an error about registry keys.
With dotnet20, however, works fine.

Normal graphics mode (the other two options are low and very low) just shows

which wine doesn't support? Cedega uses swiftshader which the developers claim
does work.

Summary: application Get My Ancestors won't install with 1.3.7,

Text showing on xterm that started Wine with the installer.
Installation of application Get My Ancestors fails with Wine 1.3.7, while it
was platinum with earlier versions of Wine. The application is downloadable.
After clicking through nearly all of the installation dialogs, the panel that
says "Installing" and "Please wait while GetMyAncestors is being installed."
appears. The progress bar shows a very small sliver finished, but the text box
that usually shows what the installation is doing is blank. Below that text
box, the panel shows the notation "Nullsoft Install System v2.44" in case that
might help.
Normally, including with Wine 1.3.6, the installer takes about 5-10 seconds to
finish successfully. With Wine 1.3.7, the installation panel never shows
anything other than the above-described content. According to top, process
called Setup_GetMyAnce... goes 100% CPU bound, more system time than user time.
I let it go past 5 CPU minutes while entering this report.
I tried this three separate times, twice creating a brand new prefix area, and
once using an existing prefix area. I'll attach the text on the xterm that
started Wine. The line starting with "XIO" and the line immediately after it
do not appear until I forcibly destroy the installer window. More polite
attempts to kill the installer have no effect. When starting the installer in
an existing prefix area, only the "fixme:shell:SHAutoComplete stub" line shows
until the XIO line(s) after I destroy the installer window.

I applied the patch in #428 to a git checkout, and it applied cleanly (albeit
with some fuzz on a few hunks).
It seems to work fine in my usage when using a single monitor. However, I am
running a dual monitor setup with Wine running in a 1920x1080 virtual desktop
in my left monitor. I have 'Allow DirectX apps to stop the mouse leaving their
window' checked in winecfg.
In the game Mount & Blade: Warband, as I turn my character, the mouse tends to
exit the virtual desktop area into the right monitor. While in the right
monitor, relative mouse motions are still read correctly in-game. However, if I
happen to click on anything while the mouse is outside of the game window, the
game loses focus.

A.I.M Racing is a fast-paced, futuristic racing game, published by 1C Company.
The game's own animated mouse cursor is invisible in the menus. However, you
can move the mouse to highlight the different menu options and they're
selectable, but it needs a little practice.
The issue is disturbing only in the menus because during the races there's no
need a mouse pointer.
Sounds similar to bug #23285 but the console output is completely different in
each game.
Workaround: there's an option in the game's config file (/Data/Config/cfg.ini):
'UseSystemCursor'. You need to change its value to '1' in order to get a
standard Windows cursor in the game.
No demo available.

The design of winmm and its interface to its low-level drivers doesn't support
opening an audio device multiple times with waveOutOpen. Windows does support
this, using the device's hardware mixing support if present, or a software
mixer if not.
This limitation also affects DirectSound if the low-level driver does not have
native support for DirectSound. In that case, DirectSound uses emulation
through the wave-out interface.

Hi, There may be relevant information in Bug report 7873, but after
implementing the same fixes described therein, the problem still persists. MS
Publisher installed fine and looks to be running properly. When I open a .pub
file I get the following error
"Windows is low on memory. Save your work and close other programs before you
continue working."
I have Wine v 1.1.9-1.11.1 with Winetricks installed and dcom98 installed per
Winetricks Wiki recommended by Bug report 7873.
System information: openSUSE 11.1, KDE 4.1.3
Please let me know if I missed any critical information. I apologize for
creating another Bug report when there is a similar one open, but considering
the fact that I followed the recommendations on that report I had to consider
the idea of this being a new issue. Please bear with me as I am relatively new
to Linux and Wine.

For normal servers:
iptables -t nat -A OUTPUT -d FAKE_IP_ADDRESS -j DNAT --to REAL_IP_ADDRESS
For loopback servers (127.0.0.1):
ssh -nNT -L port:server_real_ip:port user@localhost
I have tested with loopback servers, and can guarantee that the ssh trick
works.
I recommend using wireshark or any other packet sniffer to debug and/or get the
ip addresses.

Unfortunately this is jumping the gun a bit,
54b4f836fd9df485d4b0c83a749da22f8c1de25a fixes Bug #19493. Bug #19493 is

actually still requires some work. I do have some changes to the patches for
this bug to support Mac OS X though, so if anyone is interested in testing them

When attempting to install the game King's Quest Collection Series (the 1997

machine has no CD-ROM drive. It displays a message about this, but it doesn't
prevent installation from continuing (though installation does ultimately fail
due to bug 25305). I'm marking this as minor since it didn't appear to cause
any problems (but who knows what it might have meant further down the line if
installation had succeeded).
Same behaviour in wine 1.3.6 and 1.2.0.
Terminal output shows nothing relevant.

For floppy diskettes, GetVolumeInformation() returns blank for the diskette
label and 0000-0000 for the serial number. For key floppy diskettes needed to
allow an installer to run, this causes key validation to fail!
WINE should either read the volume label and serial number correctly from the
boot record and FAT file system on the diskette, or should allow us to hardcode
the values needed in WINECFG (currently this is allowed for hard disks but not
floppies!)

Paint Shop Pro 9 (and it seems 8 too) uses the return code to test if it should
create several temp directories. So under wine it will always fail if unique is
non-zero, GetTempFileName will currently not test anything and won't return
zero, so creation of the undo files later will fail because the directory
doesn't exists.
As the documentation tells the file isn't created my first patch isn't correct:
...
if (unique) {
sprintfW( p, formatW, unique );
/* need to check if we can create the file so applications can detect
if they can write */
HANDLE handle;
handle = CreateFileW( buffer, GENERIC_WRITE, 0, NULL,
CREATE_NEW, FILE_ATTRIBUTE_NORMAL, 0 );
if (handle != INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE)
{ /* We created it */
CloseHandle( handle );
TRACE("created %s\n", debugstr_w(buffer) );
return unique;
}
/* Failure */
return 0;
}
else
{
/* get a "random" unique number and try to create the file */
...
It should check the directory if it exists.

Summary: Animated mouse pointer invisible in 3D mode in Ice
Cream Tycoon
Product: Wine
Version: 1.2-rc4
Platform: x86
URL: http://www.reflexive.com/IceCreamTycoon.html
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: markk(a)clara.co.uk
Ice Cream Tycoon is a business/simulation game. This bug applies to both the
retail CD-ROM and the downloadable version at
http://www.reflexive.com/IceCreamTycoon.html (click "DOWNLOAD NOW!").
There are two options in Ice Cream Tycoon:
- 3D mode. It's not clear what this does, maybe when enabled it uses Direct3D
for output instead of DirectDraw???
- H/W cursor. When this is enabled, the program uses an animated coloured
mouse pointer instead of the Windows default.
Download and run the installer from the URL above. You can either choose to
have the installer run the game or start ICT.exe manually.
Starting ICT.exe shows this console output, perhaps related to the time-limited
play DRM feature?
fixme:mountmgr:harddisk_ioctl unsupported ioctl 2d1400
fixme:mountmgr:harddisk_ioctl unsupported ioctl 74080
Click Play Game. When the game starts, notice that the pointer is invisible.
It's actually there though; e.g. you can move the mouse to highlight the Skip
button at the bottom right and click it to skip the intro sequence. Click
Cancel when asked to enter a company name. Click the Options button (metal
cog). There are options for H/W cursor and 3D mode, both enabled by default.
When 3D mode is enabled, the pointer is invisible if H/W cursor is enabled. If
you un-check the H/W cursor box, the mouse pointer (standard Windows pointer)
appears. If you uncheck 3D mode and leave H/W cursor checked, the custom
(coloured and animated) mouse pointer appears.
It might not be relevant, but this console output appears when you enable 3D
mode:

Summary: It is possible to click behind certain modal dialogs
in Worms Armageddon, leading to loss of focus and
crashes
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: user32
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: thecybershadow(a)gmail.com
Created an attachment (id=31310)
--> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=31310)
Proposed patch
Problem description:
It is possible to click behind modal dialogs displayed in e.g. the Weapon
Options screen. This causes the modal pop-up window to lose focus and go behind
the Weapon Options screen. It continues to be drawn in front on the Weapon
Options screen, however input events go to the Weapon Options screen instead.
Attempting to close the Weapon Options screen causes the game to crash.
Analysis:
1. It is possible to click behind certain modal dialogs because they are not
disabled.
2. The reason why they are not disabled, is that the MFC code which brings up a
new modal dialog disables the wrong window.
3. The reason for which the wrong window is disabled, is because the Wine
implementation of GetLastActivePopup, which is used by MFC to find the active
dialog to disable, returns an incorrect value in certain cases. Specifically,
it doesn't work correctly with nested popups.
4. The reason for that is that a new popup of an owned window doesn't update
the root window's "last active" window. As seen in Wine's make_window_active,
only the immediate owner is updated.
Attached patch + test (will send to wine-patches).

Video is working in several games here thanks to the recent gstreamer changes.
The title of this bug is quite broad, it might be useful to close
this one and open individual bugs for games whose video doesn't work yet.

Winter Bells (しろくまベルスターズ) doesn't have working video, (it's not on the appdb,
but it has the same engine as one game that is) and I believe it's MPEG-2.
Shuffle! doesn't seem to play the opening (also MPEG-2 as I recall). Fate/Stay
Night doesn't play its videos (according to my fast test). I can probably find
more games with the same bug that just don't play MPEG-2 video.
However, I could be mistaken, so if someone wants to double-check this and test
things themselves, that would help. I am currently on 1.3.8.

I tried running Age Of Empires II (The Conquerors Expansion v1.0c) with a
patched wine 1.3.8 (using the patch from comment #393) on Linux 2.6.36 and it
seems to work. The only difference I have noticed between AoE II running on
Windows XP and under a patched wine is the font colour in the main menu. On
Windows, it is yellow but under wine, the text colour is blue. Not a big
problem in terms of readability (on the contrary, it's much better than black
text) but probably one in emulating Windows behaviour.
I uploaded the debug output (obtained by running wine with WINEDIB=ON
WINEDEBUG=+dibdrv) here: http://files.ax86.net/wine1.3.8-aoeII-dib_debug.log
As the file is quite large (5.3 M), I am not sure if it actually is useful for
anybody...
Images showing the differences can be found at: http://imgur.com/a/HcF0Q
Great work. Thanks!

confirmed! u are right, it didn't work for me just because I use a native
l3codecx.ax. Now it works! but at the first run of the game it complain about
the missing of l3codex.ax, I just choose to ignore it and then everything works
at the next time.

You're probably hitting bug 25368. Try 'regsvr32 /u l3codecx.ax'. You'll get an
error about the codec missing, click ignore, and it should work.
Sound will stutter at the beginning of playback, but that's bug 25378.
I'll hold off marking this fixed until someone else can confirm.

I got your patch and patch it to my wine branch and rebuild it, but the problem
still! It doesn't works for me! Are you sure that it really work? with a really

WINEDEBUG=+module log of game start, to the point where music should be heard
Game installs and runs well enough, and with regular sound effects but there is
no music where there should be and the narrator voice cannot be heard.
Have tried winetricks quartz, dsound, directmusic, directx9, and combinations
of the overrides to no avail. Also tried directly copying l3codecx from
directx9 pkg and overriding. Perhaps there's a certain sequence or something
that I am missing.
Video movies also seem to skip through, as there is no narrator voice
explaining the scenario.

Patch from Maarten. With this, sound works for me in the trial version as well
as the full version (if I remove the bundled l3codec.ax, but that's a different
bug).
It stutters at the beginning of streams (e.g., the first word of a sentence),
but other than that, seems okay here.

Summary: winspool doesn't use CUPS ports, always uses lpr
Product: Wine

Status: UNCONFIRMED

Priority: P2
Component: spooler
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: ovek(a)arcticnet.no
In dlls/winspool.drv/info.c, function CUPS_LoadPrinters, there's
sprintf(port,"LPR:%s",dests[i].name);
instead of "CUPS:%s" or whatever, which means that when printing things will be
printed through spawning lpr instead of using the CUPS libraries. This
unnecessarily adds an additional external dependency (Debian users need the
cupsys-bsd package), when there already appears to be code there to print using
the library, but that's unused right now.
(Also, please 0.9.59 to the list of versions, this was reported on 0.9.59, not
0.9.58.)

Summary: King's Quest Collection Series (1997): setup.exe fails

Product: Wine
Version: 1.3.7
Platform: x86-64

Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal

Terminal output seen when the setup error/crash occurs (ran over VNC, hence the
ALSA & XRender errors)
When attempting to install the game King's Quest Collection Series (the 1997
edition), setup.exe displays this error dialog partway through copying the game
files:
"Setup was unable to add a program group for Kings Quest Collection"
Upon dismissing the dialog, a winevdm.exe crash dialog appears (i.e., "The
program winevdm.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to close ...").
After dismissing the crash dialog, the setup.exe GUI remains visible on screen
in a broken state until the winevdm.exe process is killed.
Terminal output seems to implicate Dde_OnRequest and friends. Strangely, the
debugger never starts, despite the message at the end.
The issue also occurred in 1.3.6 and 1.2.0, but in both those versions the
debugger did start and produced a backtrace. I'm not sure why there's no
backtrace in 1.3.7. Note that my 1.3.7 test is against git master, whereas for
1.3.6/1.2.0 I tested pre-built DEB packages.

Transparency problems in Photoshop CS2
I've noticed this bug when running Photoshop CS2 and Serious Sam: The Second
Encounter. Both these apps have splash screens with transparent backgrounds,
which are transparent when using Metacity. But when using Compiz Fusion, the
backgrounds render black.
I'm not sure if the component should be wine-gui or wine-gdiplus, so I guessed
and selected the former.
Attached is a screenshot of the problem.

I've made a fresh install from the 1.3.7 version of wine.
I have the [0xFFFFFFF6, 0x0000000A] range for a [-10,10] settings
Maybe I do not apply the correct procedure
I've made the following procedure:
1 - Install Cspy
wine msiexec /i /path/to/ControlSpy.msi
2 - Run Cspy
wine /path/to/ControlSpyV5.exe
3 - Select Up/Down Control on the left list
4 - Select the "Message" tab on the Center/Lower part of the program
5 - Select inside the "Message" tab the UDM_SETBASE on the left list called
"Messages"
6 - Insert 10 (as at first it's base 10) in the textbox present in the "Wparam"
zone
7 - Click "Send"
8 - Select inside the "Message" tab the UDM_SETRANGE on the left list called
"Messages"
9 - Insert -10 in the textbox called "wLow" present in the "Lparam" zone
10 - Insert 10 in the textbox called "wHigh" present in the "Lparam" zone
11 - Click "Send"
12 - Play with the control in the upper center part to check if the range is
respected. I let the control to -9
13 - Select inside the "Message" tab the UDM_SETBASE on the left list called
"Messages"
14 - Insert 16 (we change to base 16) in the textbox present in the "Wparam"
zone
15 - Click "Send"
16 - the control show FFFFFF (Is it normal ? ..... that's not the correct value
... however maybe it does like that on windows)
17 - I play with the control and it shows me the correct boundaries
Writing this text I've noticed that if you change the value with the scheme :
- 1 clic = 1 change of value : I have the correct range
- 1 maintained clic : I have an incorrect range shown until I loose the clic
(and then it shows the correct value)
I have also noticed someting that seem to be illogical (but again it may be the
same under windows) : I clic down for getting higher values ....... and up for
negative values .....
Best regards,

Under recent versions of Wine, WWIIOnline: Battleground Europe stops drawing to
the screen if the user clicks on the 'Settings' tab in-game.
Everything is still active in the background; you still hear the proper clicks

guessing where the quit dialog is, but the visual display of the screen never
updates apart from the mouse cursor.

Obviously there's no guarantee about the state of such a context. The
specific
problem is that it might have GL_UNPACK_CLIENT_STORAGE_APPLE enabled,
causing
some glTexImage2D() calls to fail, but it's a bad idea in general.

Summary: MSXML4 parser treats tabs as characters

When attempting to run Rise of Nations Gold Edition after installation, the
game will crash with a prompt saying:
"BHG RTS run time FATAL
Fallied to locate building graphic key: HOUSE35"
HOUSE35 is present in the XML file, but there is a tab right next to it, which
causes the failure. There are two ways of fixing this. One is to run
"winetricks msxml4", which installs the real Microsoft XML 4.0 Parser and it
handles this without a problem. The second is to remove the tab from the file,
which can be done by running the following command:
sed -i "s/HOUSE35\t/HOUSE35/g" ~/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/Microsoft\
Games/Rise\ of\ Nations/Thrones\ and\ Patriots/data/buildingrules.xml
Installing Rise of Nations Gold Edition requires "winetricks mfc42", but aside
from that, this issue occurs with a fresh WINE prefix directory.

Dan, I think you mean 'winetricks directmusic'. Unfortunately, Rise of Nations
also depends on dsound, it is necessary to run 'winetricks directmusic dsound'.
Doing that makes sound work.

For example:
sleep -n 2 127.0.0.1
Wine version sleeps 2 seconds while Windows version sleeps 1 second.
There are also other discrepancies:
* -n parameter is treated as unsigned int on Windows version
* -n 0 displays the "Bad value for option -n, valid range is from 1 to
4294967295." error message to stdout on Windows
* usage is written to stdout on Windows
I submitted the patch to wine-patch mailing list.

winex11: Add X11DRV_PALETTE_GetColor function to resolve any COLORREF to an RGB
Using the "Fill" (paint bucket) and "Random holes" tools in the map editor
(both to erase and fill terrain) will cause the respective areas to be filled
with a vertically-interlaced pattern.
The pattern is actually a monochrome gray brush. Worms Armageddon passes
palette indices for white and black (PALETTEINDEX COLORREF values) to
CreateSolidBrush. BRUSH_SelectSolidBrush's check for monochrome surfaces
incorrectly compares the passed COLORREF to the RGB values of white and black,
and therefore considers the passed COLORREF (0x01000000 or 0x01000001) to be a
non-monochrome color.
Attached patches fix the problem by adding a function to convert any COLORREF
to an RGB COLORREF, and by making BRUSH_SelectSolidBrush use it.

I've seen this reported in the appdb comments, but I haven't seen a bug. Since
wine-1.1.36, Sins of a Solar Empire (soase) no longer responds to mouse clicks
in the main menu, rendering the game unplayable. I tested in a clean
wineprefix, which yielded the same results as my default wineprefix (which has
d3d and msxml3 DLLOverrides from winetricks for Civ4).
I am running "vanilla" soase, v1.19 (http://sinsofasolarempire.com).
I'm running a mostly-stable Gentoo amd64 system, and normally use the latest
~amd64 wine ebuild..
I'm trying to run a regression test, but am having a hard time of it. I'm down
to 20-some commits, and am running into user32.dll failures almost constantly.
If I don't see some improvement soon, I'll post the git bisect log and hope
that someone smarter than me can make use of it.
Let me know what else I can test / post to help things along.

Summary: popen: the stderr from the child process is (wrongly)
redirected to the parent's stdin
Product: Wine
Version: 1.2
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: msvcrt
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: borut.razem(a)gmail.com
When a child process is popened in read mode, the child's stdout and stderr are
both redirected do parent's stdin, which is wrong: only the child's stdout
shoud be redirected, child's stderr should be the same as (inherited from) the
parent's stderr.
In the following example the "This is stdout" text should be displayd in
upper-case: "THIS IS STDOUT", and the "This is stderr" should be displayed in
lower-case.
Both child.c and parent.c should be compiled, executables should be located in
the same directory and parent.exe should be executed.
I compiled the example in three different ways:
1) msvc 6.0 using static libraries on Windows
2) msvc 6.0 using msvcrt.dll compilation on Windows
3) mingw using msvcrt.dll cross-compilation on Linux
All three executables works correctly on Windows platforms (tested on Windows
XP), while ony the no. 1) woks correctly on Linux + Wine: it uses the
statically linked popen implementation from msvc library. No. 2) and no. 3)
display incorrect uppercase "THIS IS STDERR": they both use the Wine
msvcrt.dll.
I think that this proves that the bug is in the Wine msvcrt.dll popen
implementation.
Example:
child.c:
----8<----
#include <stdio.h>
int
main (void)
{
fprintf (stdout, "This is stdout\n");
fprintf (stderr, "This is stderr\n");
return 0;
}
---->8----
parent.c:
----8<----
#include <stdio.h>
#include <ctype.h>
int
main (void)
{
FILE *fp;
if (NULL != (fp = _popen(".\\child", "rt")))
{
int c;
while (EOF != (c = getc (fp)))
putc (toupper (c), stdout);
_pclose (fp);
return 0;
}
else
{
perror ("parent");
return 1;
}
}
---->8----
I took a look to the popen implementation in wine-1.3.6/dlls/msvcrt/process.c,
function MSVCRT__wpopen(): all special handling of fdStdErr in case of readPipe
seems suspicious to me...

commit f324f3c31ef4b0a6b5273aca534c173d68932462

Debugging the issue further, the patch introduces this loop:
1. while(!(pszUnixPath = wine_get_unix_file_name(dospath))){
2. if(has_failed)
3. *dospath_end = '/';
4. else
5. has_failed = 1;
6. while(*dospath_end != '\\' && *dospath_end != '/')
7. --dospath_end;
8. *dospath_end = '\0';
9. }
When I print the dospath variable between lines 1 and 2, the output is:
C:\Program Files\Ubi Soft Entertainment\Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell
Demo\Support\Readme.txt
C:\Program Files\Ubi Soft Entertainment\Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Demo\Support
C:\Program Files\Ubi Soft Entertainment\Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Demo\Support
C:\Program Files\Ubi Soft Entertainment\Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Demo\Support
[...]
... and it repeats ad infinitum.
The problem is, the inner while loop at line 6 immediately finds the '/' char
written earlier at line 3, so dospath_end variable isn't decremented, and it
loops forever.
I don't know what this piece of code is supposed to do, so I have no idea what
is the correct way to fix it.

Doesn't happen in wine-1.3.4, but does in 1.3.5 and git.
First reported at http://code.google.com/p/winezeug/issues/detail?id=192
To see it in action, do 'winetricks dotnet30', then when the tray icon
is created, doubleclick it so the install window opens up again.
The failure happens in the first few seconds, the gui says there's
been an errror (but nothing suspicious happens in the console), and it
takes some time unwinding the install. The installer then exits with nonzero
status, which in winetricks shows up at
Note: command 'wine $HOME/.cache/winetricks/dotnet30/dotnetfx3.exe' returned
status 87. Aborting.

err:ole:CoGetClassObject no class object {9a5ea990-3034-4d6f-9128-01f3c61022bc}

This is the class id of a new vista interface, IGameExplorer, documented here:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/microsoft.directx_sdk.igameexplorer…
The class should be in gameux.dll
I believe the message is usually harmless. A program could only rely on the
class being present if it requires vista or greater.
According to a Google search, the interface is used by:
* Steam games (Half-Life 2, Team Fortress 2, ...)
* EVE Online
* Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars
* Football Manager 2008
* Far Cry 2
* Company of Heroes
* and many others
I think we will need to add this, but in doing so we risk breaking games that
currently work (because they will rely on the class to work correctly if it
exists). I think stubs will mostly work fine.

hacky mediadet.c test debug patch
GetTempFileNameW() returns sometimes the same name in both calls in mediadet.c.
As said in MSDN the name has to be unique. It is unique, but the test deletes
the unique file and generates a new one with a new extension. In the next call
the GetTempFileNameW() returns another or the same name (the unique file was
deleted before).
But the test assumes that renaming the file extension gets a new unique one
(which seems to fit on windows XP/2000 - see http://test.winehq.org/data - but
not for wine). This works mostly - not all times - in the first run with a
clean temp folder. The chance is really small to hit two times the same name.
I haven't checked this on windows but it is affected, too, I think (probably
GetTempFileNameW() has an internal static variable which generates every time a
new name from the one before, or so ...).

Crystal Cubes is a freeware tetris clone in 3D.
When starting, the game complains about the following unimplemented function in
Wine's d3dx9_36.dll: D3DXFillTexture.
A native d3dx9_36.dll (or winetricks d3dx9) makes the game happy and it works
flawlessly.
For testing: the game also needs native msxml3 libraries to start correctly
(that's bug #23656).

Also tested 15 and 16 bpp and got:

Also starting x-server in 8bpp slows down fallout and many pallete glithes

The crash looks like it occurs because for some reason the app is unable to

"Error locating tag node in SetGlobalClassInfo function
