FYI, I will stop using the WineHq Bugzilla application because any logged user
can easily tell a robot to grab email adresses, including mine.
I think an email address should always be a Bugzilla internal in order to
communicate between the bugzilla servers and the user.

winecfg segfault backtrace
Fedora 8 32bit + bunch of RPM from newer Fedora's recompiled for Fedora 8. Wine
compiled from vanilla sources. This bug is not present in 1.3.4 and happens
starting from 1.3.5 (i.e. it also affects 1.3.6). Problem is just as stated in
summary - winecfg crashes with segfault as soon as I try to switch into "Audio"
tab. Will attach backtrace to this report.
Unfortunately I can't proceed with git bisecting bug due to lack of spare time
to spend on this :-(.

Hmm, I could have sworn that I replied to this a long time ago - apparently
not. I tested the patches on TW quite a while ago and they worked fine. Have
you tested wine-kane recently? I've made quite a few updates to the patches,
and they should be much more robust now.

Pic proof for crzy cpu
I don't know how you can call utorrent 2.0.4 to be gold on Ubuntu 10.04.1. I'm
fed up with this bug and doesn't seem to being fixed or reported! It's not the
first time it happen to be which I though by formating my ubuntu 3 times, it
might fix by itself but doesn't. Before, I had the wine version without the ppa
which I hoped was designed to run 'gold' on ubuntu 10.04.1. with wine 1.1.42ish
with utorrent 1.8.5. It was working 'gold' for solid 3 or 5 months.. no cpu
issue or anything. It was actually gold.
But recently, the doomsday for ubuntu has returned for me. It's back up 100cpu.
I read in a forum to update my version. I first updated utorrent to the latest
one [non-beta] 2.0.4. It worked fine for the first week or but return to the
retarded state.. 100cpu for no reason.
I updated my wine using the ppa.. it sometime works fine but sooner or
later..back to 100cpu..
what's the prob?? Check the pic for proof!

when playing soldat 1.5.0 (WINEDIB=ON ofc) and killing someone with a long name
or something other long and written in big letters all the text in game
disapears
i think its related to a known soldat bug, only under win i get "access
violations", lots of them, and i think the bug is caused by overlaping big
screen text with the death console on the right
anyway, http://forums.soldat.pl/index.php?topic=26788.0 example, lots of other,
fix is to play with the fonts

I think I got it now, will prepare a fix for that. Should help all similar
msvbvm60 related page faults reported as separate bugs.

Just tested Civ IV BTS with wine 1.3.6 using the built in msxml.dll.
I attached the crash log.
I hope it provides some useful (as in not redundant) information.
Thank you for making this work. I have noticed that the game loads much further
now then before using the built in dll.

There is a workaround for this bug included in Worms Armageddon version
3.6.30.0. Wine is detected on startup and the game offers to enable
compatibility options, which can alternatively be configured via .reg scripts,
or (if you can access the frontend) via the new Advanced options menu.

A program trying register and load an ActiveX control, ctSchedule.ocx from
www.dbi-tech.com, fails to do so. It's working fine in Win2000 and WinXP.
After some debugging I found out that OleCreate returns E_INVALIDARG. I've been
trying to find the reason but it's a little out of my reach.
The ActiveX control seems to register okey. Regsvr32 prints the usual
"Successfully registered DLL CTSCHEDULE.OCX". I've checked the registry and
compared to WinXP and everything seems normal.

The attached file "debug-simple.txt" contains the relay debug channel from
OleCreate is called until it returns.
The attached file "debug-full.txt" contains both the relay and heap debug
channels.

But I get an error window when importing maps (which is pretty essetial,
because Fugawi's main purpose it to display maps). Scanning for map files is
the last operation that works fine. A list of maps is shown. Then, in the next
operation, Fugawi tries to analyze/import the scanned map files. I think it
also wants to copy the files into another directory (yes, the current user is
able to write into that directory). Right after the very last map (no matter
which one), en error window says "OLE error 80004002". None of the maps have
been imported. Here's what wine tells me in the terminal:

The 12/28/2009 version of Kindle does not work. Ubuntu Forums (link above) has
a big discussion about how it fails. The beta version works (with minor issues
on the front page fonts not showing properly unless the mode is set to Win98).
This issue was seen with both 1.0.1 as well as 1.1.35 in Ubuntu.

When I set msxml4 to builtin in winecfg and start up Age of Mythology for the
first time there is a warning before the main game menu which says:
Title: Error Creating Fonts
Message: XML Parsing error in Fonts2.xml. No fonts will be loaded.
And there are really no fonts in the game then.
If I change msxml4 in winecfg from builtin to native (the native dlls get
installed during the game installation) then the fonts are shown correctly
ingame. When I know change msxml4 in winecfg from native to builtin again the
fonts are still shown correctly. This is because a file fonts2.xmb gets created
when I was running Age of Mythology with native dlls and this file now does not
need to be regenerated.
So it is the creation of the fonts2.xmb file which seems to fail with builtin
msxml4.

In the appdb it actually mentions PSP7 needs a bit of hacking to get going with
custom DLL's, but that is now inaccurate, PSP7 installs and runs no problem
without custom DLL's, except for the following...
When you try to insert text, the insert text window comes up, and as soon as
you start typing, PSP 7 hangs.
I ran the program from the terminal and attached an error log that was dumped
on the screen.
I then killed PSP 7, it returned to the terminal and another error log was
dumped on the screen straight after, I added that as a second attachment.
I am running Wine 1.0 RC5 (1.0 RC4 option was not yet in bugzilla) on Ubuntu
Hardy 64 bit from the winehq repository.
I am filing this under msvcrt, since this line in the error log caught my eye:

Summary: 08/19/2010 Steam client update breaks many games

Version: 1.3.1

Status: UNCONFIRMED

Component: wininet
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: byteframe(a)gmail.com
An update to the steam client (http://store.steampowered.com/news/4228) seems
to have broken many games.
I've posted a description of the problem users face in comments on the steam
appdb page here:
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=19444#Comment-…
. Initially, I thought it was fixable by not using the -march=native CFLAG when
compiling wine, which seemed to make the games work.
Not everything was fixed, however. Zombie Panic: Source hangs on level load,
and Left4Dead will hang when you press tab to view the player list.
In either of these two instances, I noticed: "err:wininet:URLCache_FindHash
Error: not right hash table number (1) expected X" repeating endlessly (hanging
the game).
To be safe, I'm still abstaining from -march=native (which resolves to 'core2'
on my system), as I'm not certain if the use of that CFLAG is also affecting
this or was exposing a different problem.
Another user accurately states that you can use Steam's "Offline Mode" and
doing so fixes the problem.
Also, I tried adding a "return TRUE;" statement after the ERR in the
URLCache_FindHash function (thereby ending the loop) and that fixes the problem
with l4d and zps.
I'm not a wine hacker by any means, so I have no idea what's actually going on
in the code, but I think I've narrowed it down well enough. Thank you!

Hi !
In the ear training program "Ear Master 5.0" (Pro / Essential / School), some
exercises do work perfectly, but some of them cannot be completed, as the input
area is completely black (screenshot provided).
Those are :
- scale identification
- rhythm reading
- rhythm dictation
- rhythm correction
- melodic dictation
This occurs in both wine 1.3.2 and wine 1.2.
Please tell me if I can help investigate this issue :-)
Thanks for reading !

installs fine with no futzing whatsoever if you run with +relay
(without it, it crashes quickly). I then tried running the Dancing Mouse
example program. Pressing 'Run' used to work, but now crashes with
Unhandled exception: page fault on read access to 0x00000004 in 32-bit code
(0x7e955213).

Tried latest xi2 patch with latest git on Mount & Blade Warband. Works great!
xorg-server (1.9.0), xinput (1.5.2), wine (nearly after 1.3.5 )
Works great! Yeah!

A note on Reimar Döffinger's patch in comment #29: This patch broke the startup
of "Rainbow Six: Ravenshield" for me. Symptom from start:
- cd check executes
- splash screen shows & hides
- a window appears with nothing in it (nothing redraws its content), and games
eats 20% of cpu.
Strace showed it spent its time sending commands to wineserver, and
"WINEDEBUG=+server" showed it was sending get_message & get_update_region
alternatively.
On the other hand, it did solve keyboard input problems in, for example,
"Beetle Crazy Cup"...

Starting up the 'The Bat!' application causes suddenly an error (it don't let

protect the software against patches, cracking, debugging etc.
See URL: <http://www.oreans.com>.
This failure blocks the application to start.
The company behing 'The Bat!' -RITLabs SRL- is using this componets inside 'The
Bat!' since the v4.0.04.
My simple solutions was do override the 'thebat.exe' with a backup copy. Than
works like before. But in the past this message come again some time later

Tried xi2 patch with latest git on AvP2. Clicks and menu seem to work well, but
any small ingame mouse movement is considered as a movement in bottom-right
direction when mouse is in the screen (mouse movements outside the game screen
works just fine, probably it works fine too inside it, but makes no noticeable
difference because the glitch effect is way stronger)
Feels like this broken behavior is unrelated to the discussed bug, because
without Xi2 support game had some mouse issues with moving in top-left
direction, but probably they were overlapped by cursor warping.

Version: 1.1.36

OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: msvcrt
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: gyebro69(a)gmail.com
The game (KB:Armored Princess, Steam version, patched to 1.2) generally crashes
on loading screens (entering/finishing a battle, entering a castle etc.)
I think the bug is the same as in the prequel: King's Bounty: The Legend
(http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15817)
Installing the native version of msvcrt.dll apparently solved the problem (no
more crashes after several hours of gameplay).
There is a demo version of the game (467 MB):
http://www.bigdownload.com/games/kings-bounty-armored-princess/pc/kings-bou…
The game needs native d3dx9_36.dll to run (at least the steam version).

pipeline replacement patch.
The crosshair is garbled, the status/action bar is garbled and the menu is

Tried with wine-1.1.7-106-g38815e1 + vertex pipeline replacement patch.

Just to mention, the latest HackShield update in Mabinogi broke HackShield for
even Wine 1.0.1, while it's still broken in latest Wine. Two different errors
though, 1.0.1's being "Driver failed to load" and latest Wine's being
"HackShield failed to initialize"

AirRivals console output
Here is my console output from AirRivals, this game also uses the HackShield
system and is giving me the same 108 error.
Running on Debian Squeeze (up-to-date) and wine current git (commit
f8e4a0f3b9d220b3242489d35399230245fa3287 that is somewhere after 1.3.5)
To be fair my wine installation includes some network related patches by Erich
Hoover, but those should have no impact on this. (patches found at
http://www.compholio.com/wine-kane/#patches and applied on top of tag
wine-1.3.5, merged origin/master into that branch)
If you think these do impact the result, I could recompile from origin/master.
Will try patches if necessary.

console output
This is a game loaded through the Steam platform.
Details of the game are available http://store.steampowered.com/app/48700/
It apparently used to work fine
Distribution is Slackware 13.0
gcc version 4.3.3 (GCC)
Wine 1.3.1 manually compiled from source (i.e. not a package)
GFX card is GeForce 9600 GT with 512mb ram
Using Nvidia binary drivers 256.44
Steam launches fine but when trying to play the game, the game does not launch
and wine hangs (details of console output attached)
Steam continues to work in the background and it is possible to attempt the
launch the game again but with no more success
This is under wine 1.3.1, with the following elements installed through
winetricks:
- corefonts
- drdx9
- drdx9_28
- drdx9_36
- vcrun2005
Using a "clean" wine installation without the native drdx9 dlls leads to the
same error
Please let me know if more information is required and I will happily provide
it.

Now it's an issue with schema stuff, which is actually what I'm currently

In Sims3, sometimes the skin color of a sim is blue during the character
creation. If initially the skin color does not show up blue, moving the skin
color slider makes the skin turn blue.
This regression was found using a GeForce GTX 480 and driver 256.35. I was not
able to replicate the bug using a 200 series GeForce card. Could this be a
driver bug?

Backtrace
On launch, wine complains that the program has a problem and has to be closed.
I've copied the command from the menu launcher and pasted it to a terminal to
find what's the problem, and I get a back trace (attached to this message).
The game is "Come see me tonight", and it worked on a previous wine release.
Last time I tried it, it was with wine 1.1.35 and was perfectly playable.

Summary: screen size is confused by program
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.29
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: cnbiz850(a)sohu.com
A program that is preferred to run with full screen. After I first installed
it, that is what it did -- popped up full screen (maximized) -- on the first
run. Then subsequently it did in the same way. However lately, I hit somehow
"normalize/maximize" (at the upper-right corner of the program window). Then
the window shrank to about a quarter of the screen, which is not necessarily a
wrong behavior. What is wrong is when I hit "normalize/maximize" again, which
is supposed to maximize the window, the window get enlarged by just a few
pixels instead. Hit "normalize/maximize" again shrinks the window by the same
few pixels, again then enlarged by the few pixels. It is stuck at that rough
size. I can't even drag the edge of the window to enlarge/shrink it further.
At next startup, it goes to the previous small size and can not really be
resized. The only way (seems to me) that can change it back to normal is by
going through "winecfg" unchecking "allow window manager to control it",
running it and bringing it to full size, then closing it down, bringing up
"winecfg" again and re-checking the "allow window manager to control it". The
next and subsequent runs it will go to full size -- until the
"normalize/maximize" is hit again.

Oh, nice hint.
This pretty new extension does the trick, but on my short try, I broke the test
before ;-).
Nothing to do with this bug:
By the way, has anyone noticed, that some tests are "black" some time, if they
where run directly one after another?
