>From the last log it looks like it's creating RAW sockets, something only root
is allowed to do. Try giving wine/the .exe the cap to do so before running it:
sudo setcap cap_net_raw+eip jointops.exe
and if that doesn't work
sudo setcap cap_net_raw+eip /usr/bin/wine

On September 3 the file wine-1.3.2.tar.bz2 was uploaded to the Source directory
in Wine's SourceForge files section. This file contains Wine source code and is
the file we want to download in MacPorts to build wine.
On September 8 the file wine-1.3.2.tar.bz2 was uploaded to the Win32 Packages
directory in Wine's SourceForge files section. This file contains pre-compiled
Windows libraries of some kind and is not interesting to us. But it is the file
users are now receiving when they try to install wine 1.3.2 using MacPorts:
http://trac.macports.org/ticket/26420
It is confusing for there to be two files on your server with the same names
but different contents and purposes. Could you rename the one in the Win32
Packages directory to something else?

Starting WoW Cataclysm latest build either via the Launcher or directly running
WoW.exe results in the same crash. The crash occurs before the fullscreen
login screen appears.
WoW Cata was running fine with prior build. Additionally, Wine was recently
updated (I use the Ubuntu PPA version which recently received an update as
well). However I'm not sure which update caused the crashing as I didn't try
the game until after both Cata and Wine were updated.
Similar problem as Bug 24332, but not exactly. Crash log attached.

Hi,
I confirm that I have the same issue:
1) When using native comctrl (in file open dialog for instance)
2) When I use LTSPICE IV (this is an EDA application available at no cost from
http://www.linear.com/designtools/software/#Spice)
The latter application has a "be nice to wine" mode. When this is enabled the
issue is not present, however, when this is disabled, the simulation control
panel shows black or mostly black icons.

The patch is OK like previous one.
FIFA 2002 starts and I can run through menus and options upto loading a match
then the game crashes. But I think this is a different issue than DirectDraw.
The game shows Direct3D errors when crashes. So DDRAW bug is fixed with this
patch but Direct3D is causing problems with the game.
System Spec:
Intel Pentium Dual Core 2.2 GHz
Memory 2.9 GB
Intel GMA 4500M Graphics
Mesa 7.7.1
Wine 1.3.2 Configuration:
DirectDrawRenderer opengl
OffScreenRenderingMode backbuffer
RenderTargetLockMode readdraw
I have selected D3D driver for the game by modifying registry values.
As I have mentioned before using same configuration FIFA 2001 running fine even
3D

Setting CPU to single core mode helped a bit cause it took more time to freeze,
I could play around 40 minutes or so before lock. With all cores enabled
Counter-Strike froze faster.

To reproduce, create a character and choose city Neriak, then launch into game.
The buildings in the city should look like boring old off-white stucco,
but instead they look like a distorted funhouse mirror, with hundreds of
distorted reflections of your character.
To work around this, turn on Shader 3.0 in options
(click on EQII logo in lower left -> Options -> Performance -> Shader 3.0)
and restart the game.
According to the mouseover text, this requires cards with "600 PS instruction
slots".

This games works better with current wine 1.3.2.
If autoconfig executable is avoided (it's started automatically by the main
executable, but can be avoided with -noautoconfig switch), no blade related
crashes occur.
Actually the game can be started with some native dlls (directx9 mainly for
devenum and directsound stuff (?), directplay for multiplayer and native quartz
/ amstream for MPEG-1 videos).
It seems to work quite stable, and fully functional (not fully played through,
though).

> It's not clear at all what is the source of the problem.
According to Henri Verbeet,
It seems the game uses the system palette to generate a palette for its
ddraw surfaces, but the system palette is empty. The reason the system
palette is empty is that
http://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git/?a=blob;f=dlls/winex11.drv/palette.c;…
explicitly creates an empty palette for TrueColor (and DirectColor)
visuals. Always taking the else-branch there also makes the game display
something.
Writing some tests for GetSystemPaletteEntries() should probably be the
first step for fixing that bug. Note that this pretty much seems to be a
gdi32/winex11.drv issue, and I'm not familiar with most of the code in
there.

- Exifer
- XnView (windows version, fonctionnaly richer than MP 0.26)
- CdCheck because FSlint does not show transfer rate
There are 2 del keys on a standard keyboard:
- in the lower rigth corner or the numeric pad
- in the lower left corner of the pad with 'insert', 'hom','page up','del',
'end', 'page down'
In Wine 1.2, and with every Windows applicaton used
- the first one works normally when num-lock is off: deletes the first
character on the right of the cursor
- the second one (near 'end') works OK when the numlock of the numeric pad is
off, but wrong when numlock is on.
In this case, when you try to del a character, the character is deletes but
replaced by a '.' (dot), si you have to delete characters using an aother way,
which is often slower and very boring.
(tested on Ubuntu 10.04, up-to-date on 2010-09-08, but wrong since installation
of wine)

In Wine, create a character with blonde hair.
On another machine, in Windows, launch into the same world (not easy, seems to
be load balancing, hard to get all players into same world).
Then look at the hair of the first character on both Wine and Windows.
The color, and perhaps the detail level, are different.
(I'm trying to verify this by getting three guys in the same world
to look at the hair from the same vantage point, but I haven't managed it yet.)

When I launch any game that is based on Half-Life 1 (Half-Life, Counterstrike,

it keyboard input I must highlight the window's title bar by clicking on it.
This leads to several awkward issues.
Because the window is nevertheless able to capture mouse movements, I cannot
use the mouse to click on the title bar of the window. Also, wmctrl cannot
recognize the existence of a wine-created window. Alt-tab does not recognize a
wine window either.I have managed to find a very awkward workaround. But the
window should start active. Especially if it's fullscreen.

Summary: Cakewalk SONAR 4 crashes on start

Created an attachment (id=22328)

error without mfc42u
I was previously able to get Cakewalk SONAR running on my system (this was a
while ago... my last appdb entry indicates I had been using wine 1.1.5 at the
time, and hardy heron as an OS). This was probably done with a few added dll
files, but the guide I used to get this program working was lost at whatever
point the sonar 2 entry was deleted (the walkthrough here enabled the use of at
LEAST versions 2-4). Recently I planned to reinstall this prgram, as I have yet
to find anything quite as easy to use in terms of midi composition. However, I
am completely unable to get the program to run (I only have sonar 4 now, my
older copies have disappeared). I'm fairly certain that missing/not
fully-fleshed-out dlls may be the culprit, so I'm filing this bug to see if
anything can be done about this.
Upon running in terminal, I get a few errors (attached), one of the more
important seeming to be a complaint of not finding MFC42u.DLL. I took a copy of
this dll from my old windows install and dropped it in my sonar folder, which
gets me a bit farther. Instead of silently crashing, I get an error window
popup that says "unknown error in sequencer dll", accompanied by more output in
the terminal (also attached). These new complaints seem to center around an
msvcrt function, which may also be suspect. I haven't been able to get any
farther than this.
I'm not in any way an expert or a coder, so I'm not sure if anything can be
done. I am curious as to what any devs might have to say about these errors,
however. If there is any way I can make progress on this, I'd like to. If more
information is needed, I'd be glad to help out (though I'll probably need to be
walked through the process). Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me.

As you turn, the water changes from light to dark and back.

I installed Tachyon: The Fringe, updated to 1.00.00.36r, and applied a no-cd
fix to bypass the "Insert a CD" error I was getting.
The game launches okay, but the screen is completely black; I can hear sound
effects as I move the mouse around the screen, but I don't see anything.
I'm running the game with this command: wine explorer /desktop=800x600
tachyon.exe -dx8
I do not really get any console output; I'm attaching everything I get.

Well I installed silkroad today, and for first, it wouldn't patch, it said the
"Replacer.exe" was damaged, I tryied to reinstall it a lot of times and nothing
worked.
I went to windows, installed silkroad and updated it, it runs perfectly normal,
so I came back to Ubuntu for installing it again.
I copyed all the folder from Windows and pasted it on
/home/user/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Silkroad/
when I tryed to open it, it says "Failed on running Silkroad.exe"
and also, when I try to run it directly from the windows folder
(double-clicking on the silkroad.exe at the windows HD) it opens well, but when
the game should start, everything stop working, and the Silkroad music keep
playing.
Any solution?

Certain levels in the game reliably exhibit a really annoying problem where all
the terrain textures slide seemingly along with the player's view camera, which
results in a complete disorientation of the player.
See the attached screenshots in a series to get the effect of this texture
sliding. Notice that textures on the mountains on the textures also slide but
each polygon retains the same texture.
I'm using a relatively old Wine version because that is what is the latest for
Fedora 9. I'm using Fedora 9 x86_64.
My Giants installation has been patched to version 1.4 and it includes the
"Graphical Revision Mod v1.01" from http://www.giantswd.org/?file=2 .
Additionally, I get a lot of repeated messages in the console saying: "Zero

Any help with solving this problem would be much appreciated.
On first install Autograph would crash on startup. This was fixed by using the
native version of msxml3.
The program now appears to be fine apart from the above issue, with icons not
being displayed on any toolbars. I've attached the command line output below.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Hello,
I'm running Ubuntu Jaunty.
I use the free PDF-Xchange viewer from Tracker Software (ver 2.0 build 42.2).
In Wine 1.0.1 the fullscreen view (F12) works fine.
I upgraded to Wine 1.1.28, which I thought necessary to get Google Sketchup
working. (Sketchup appears to function fairly well now.)
But, the fullscreen view in the PDF now "bounces" immediately back to non-full
screen. I tried this under Wine set to XP and to Vista. That about covers my
troubleshooting skills...
Anyway--this is not earthshattering--but something hopefully that may get fixed
one day.
thank you for all the great work and a great product,
-david

This bug is specifically for Visual Studio .NET 2002 and 2003.
For other Visual Studio versions visit appdb and follow HOWTOs.
You obviously didn't do that - there are required prerequisites _before_

I tried to install the app "DasTelefonbuch Gelbe Seiten Map & Route". The DVD
contains an autorun.inf file which points to start.exe in its root directory
(mounted on /dvd).
If I run start.exe from konqueror or with absolute path (wine /dvd/start.exe)
it fails to find its fellow programs (wine: cannot find
L"C:\\windows\\system32\\setup.exe"). However, if I do a "cd /dvd; wine
start.exe" everything is fine.
So it might be a good idea to include the `dirname` part in the search path of
wine.

reinstall my ati driver correctly and now FGLRX driver load correctly, BUT I
now have black screen that appear when I scroll.
It might be only some part of the screen at first but if I scroll further, the
whole screen gets black. In fact, not the whole screen but just the scrolling
part. The only way to get the screen back is to minimize and then maximize the
application.

The download link is broken. I couldn't find a new one for the beta version of
Windows Live Mail, only for the released version
(http://explore.live.com/windows-live-mail). And that installer quickly runs
into bug 23440. So unless someone still has the beta version around it's
probably safe to mark this bug as abandoned?

Debug output
When trying to handle some textures (not yet known what), Worms Reloaded will
crash due to a failed operation with the Radeon driver - "Assertion
`dstRowStride' failed."
This bug isn't caused by the 3D backgrounds or character models, as both run
perfectly at the main menu. The crash happens when starting a game or loading
the landscape editor.
However, if you delete your saved profile (Profile_PROFILES.dat), then restart
the game and create a team again, it IS possible to play one game, but only on
the Quick Game mode. This always starts a game in the 'Hell' landscape, which
plays perfectly. This suggests that the Hell landscape doesn't cause this
crash, but perhaps the other landscapes do. This could be do with the main
landscape texture, or perhaps the size of the landscape.
Further testing, perhaps hacking in the Hell texture into other landscapes, is
needed to confirm the exact cause of this problem. The game also generates
mini-dumps, which could be used to help identify the problem, but are probably
only useful to Team 17 themselves.
Some investigation as to what exactly this error means would also be helpful.
Log with full error is attached.

At all, it's not a wine bug, but bug of nvidia driver and bad code of windows
programm.
When i start some games from tasofro, shows black window and game hang up. It's
bug appears only on Nvidia drivers, because they use not safe code in
libGLcore. During glXCreateContext it does this:
leal 0x2ac(%esp),%esi
leal 0x2b0(%esp),%ecx
...
195230: movl 0x2a8(%esp),%eax
195237: movl %eax,0x2a4(%esp)
19523e: flds 0x2a8(%esp)
195245: fmul %st(1),%st
195247: fstps 0x2a8(%esp)
19524e: flds 0x2b0(%esp)
195255: flds 0x2a8(%esp)
19525c: faddp %st,%st(1)
19525e: fstps 0x2ac(%esp)
195265: movl 0x0(%esi),%edx
195267: movl 0x0(%ecx),%eax
195269: cmpl %eax,%edx
19526b: jnz 195230
While this exact code is called on every context creation, it clearly doesn't
cause anything problematic for most non-Tasofro apps. This is because of the
FPU rounding mode. In the default setting, it will always converge because the
two values are constants. However, Tasofro sets the FPU Control Word to 0A7F at
some point, which means it always rounds up rather than rounds to nearest. This
means that the value will never converge. So it just gets stuck in an infinite
loop.
(If i patch exe for rounding mode - game starts normally)
Well, i think wine may reset rounding mode before call glXCreateContext

Here is another funny thing. If I. While I stand with e.g. the Auction house

I tested Vitaly's patch (#351), and it 'mostly' fixed the outstanding mouse
issues with Moutnt & Blade: Warband. However, as I have to run the game in a
wine desktop for the resolution not to be messed up, every time the X mouse
would pass out of the desktop, a click would click out of the game.
I attempted using madscientist's patch (#377) to try to fix it. Unfortunately,
after compiling with that patch (in addition to Vitaliy's, the mouse clicks
would register in the game menu. Plus, the mouse cursor would still move
outside the wine desktop.

as you can guess from name, it workarounds some xorg bug. So when xorg is
without that bug AND most of people will have the right version, then it'll get
merged in, AFAIK.
This bug won't be solved in any other way than xinput2 support, because it's
useless. Xinput2 is proper solution for this bug and should work for every
application. So let's wait till Xinput2 is widespread and then we'll get this
fixed without patching wine.
Personally, i don't care much about patching - i use wine from git, and it
automatically generates packages for my distro, and properly patches.

Oops. Posted too early. It appeared i had built wine without Xi2 support. Now,
as wine has been built with Xi2 support, the patch works like a charm. I can
move the cursor out of the window, and it still controls the camera. So, IT
WORKS! ;)
Thanks for the patch, Vitaliy. Is it a proper patch which could be merged into

"Xi2 patch with xorg bug workaround" doesn't help with GTA III. Mouse still
escapes the window, and then camera isn't controlled. The same problem is with
fullscreen mode where mouse stops on the screen border and camera stops
rotating.

Some other test I made in the HTA game. When rotation of cannon stops, I tried
with Esc go to game menu and see mouse cursor in left side (cannon cannot
rotate left - anticlockwise). Same when cannon stop rotation to
right(clockwise), mouse appear on the right side in game menu.

Still same problem, but I made some tests with adjusting mouse sensitivity in
Hard Truck Apocalypse game. When I set highest sensitivity, cannon can rotate >
360° - looks like 2x turn around, but still stops, its impossible rotate freely
without stop. When I decrease to minimum mouse sensitivity, cannon can rotate
for example only 90°.

it does also on 1.7.x, that contains xinput2 too, but it's well tested on 1.8
and unreleased 1.9 (i use 1.9 RC5)
xinput2 = Xorg 7.5 feature, and Xorg 7.5 first shipped with X Server 1.7.x

A few thoughts:
1. Obtaining the MFC source from Microsoft under a LGPL compatible license
might not be out of the question because Steve Ballmer recently claimed that
Microsoft "loves open source". Considering that the WINE project would stand to
gain a substantial contribution if Microsoft were to donate the MFC source
under a LGPL compatible license, I think it would be worthwhile to try.
Steve Ballmer's email is Steve.Ballmer(a)microsoft.com according to Microsoft's
website(1). I expect that emails received at that address are processed by his
secretaries, so in order to send him an email that would make it to him,
someone important like Alexandre Julliard would need to send it. I imagine that
the body of the email could be something along the lines of "Dear Steve
Ballmer, I am <A> from the WINE project. The MFC source code is available to
almost everyone who wants it, but the WINE project has <X>, <Y> and <Z> legal
concerns that prevent its use in both source and binary form. You recently said
that Microsoft loves open source, so it would be much appreciated if you would
make the MFC source available to the WINE project under a compatible license.
Yours truly, <A>".
(1): http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/exec/steve/2007/03-14convergence.mspx
2. I already opened a bug about pidgen.dll, but it was closed as a duplicate of
this.
3. Provided that #1 is not an option, then a dummy dll with a bunch of stubs
would be awesome. I am a senior computer science student and unlike most of the
computer science students at my university, I made it a point to learn C and
C++, If a stub was available to tell me what functions were being called, I
could try implementing the functions that pidgen.dll uses using Microsoft's
MSDN documentation and then submit them as patches. I plan to take 20 credits
this semester on top of doing some minor undergraduate research, so time is an
issue for me, but I could try my hand at it on one of the upcoming holidays,
provided that there is a dummy dll with stubs in place that define a place for
me to insert code.
4. I know that the WINE project is very strict about the identities of its
contributors. What would I need to do in order to meet the WINE project's
requirements for submitting patches?

to make xi2 patch work properly, there are a few conditions:
1) you must have recent enough xorg (1.8 or bigger, in debian it works
currently in testing, unstable, experimental, in ubuntu it works since lucid,
on others: i don't know)
2) you must have xinput dev package installed (on debian/ubuntu: libxi-dev)
3) then you can apply patch to wine source, run configure, then check generated
include/config.h and search for xinput2, it should define HAVE_XINPUT2_LIB to
1.
4) if it's 1, then wine will be built with xi2 support, you can do make, make
install, you're done
.. and you shouldn't apply any patches for mouse warp when using xi2 and also,
registry changes in directinput are useless and may cause problems.

If you write similar code accidentally that's fine. If you write similar code
because you have seen the MS source that's a copyright violation.
Anyone who plans to work on the mfc implementation in the future should stay
far away from the MS source, and never look at it or even download it.

If you write a mfc*.dll from scratch and then you compare that dll source code
with the microsoft's one and they match in some way, what can you do? If the
implemented function works, it is obvious that have to share some code, how can
you see if is copied or not?

starting the log in I receive the attached Program Error message.
When this happens I have to "force a quit" to the program and then either
restart the computer or restart World of WarCraft. There does not seem to be
any indication as to whether I must reboot or just restart the program until I
attempt to restart WOW and cant (then I must reboot.)
Additional when checking my wine version the screen shows 1.1.44 but also shows

Using the latest winetricks, I've installed ie6 and ie7 (separately) on my x86
Gentoo machine. In both cases, after loading a page, iexplore.exe always
terminates with "longjmp causes uninitialized stack frame". Interestingly, this
doesn't happen on my x86-64 Gentoo machine. However, the 32-bit system is more
up-to-date. For instance, it has glibc 2.11 while the 64-bit system has 2.10.
I'm not the only person to have encountered this. See the given URL for a forum
thread where a Ubuntu user has also encountered it. It may be easy for you to
reproduce. Note that this occurs on all recent Wine releases back from 1.1.34
to 1.1.36.

Publicly available does not mean free to use by anyone for any purpose,
however. GPL code can and does get "stolen", by way of someone using code and
not posting their modifications to the public; and the "thieves" can and
often-times do get prosecuted -successfully- after refusing to release their
source.
Same goes for publicly available non-GPL code. If the license forbids it, but
someone reads it and then builds or helps build a wine builtin mfc*.dll, and
microsoft sees that code in the wine tree, then wine as a whole is in deep
trouble.

Summary: Rise of Nations installer "cannot load pidgen.dll"

on&iId=4403
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED

AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: shiningarcanine(a)gmail.com
A week ago, I tried installing Rise of Nations under WINE 1.3.1 and it failed.
Since WINE 1.3.2 came out today, I decided to do a little experiment to see if
I could get Rise of Nations working on my system. I made a backup of my WINE
directory before doing this, so I can repeat and vary my attempt any number of
times necessary for debugging purposes. Anyway, after putting my CD key into
the installer, I was informed that it "cannot load pidgen.dll".
The application database says that mfc42.dll is required to install and run
Rise of Nations and following its advice to run "winetricks mfc42" fixes it.
WINE should not rely on official Microsoft Windows DLLs for its operation and I
could not find an existing bug describing this problem, so I am filing one.

IANAL, but it sounds like there is a difference between "writing derivative
work", and plain old "related, non-derivative work after looking at publicly
available source code".
It also sounds like "having looked at private microsoft source code" most
likely means you're an ex-microsoft employee or partner, which wouldn't apply
to MFC42.
Once again, not a lawyer, but it's worth doublechecking.

Has this actually been confirmed for MFC42.dll? What with its source code being
kind of publicly available and what not.

LOL Jerome and Dan, as fast as I can type them, you have more coming.
@Jerome, I disagree that the bug should be reopened, but perhaps another bug
for smaller issues such as the "pidgin problem" Dan mentioned could be opened
to get incremental stubs in place, if someone was willing/able to take on the
work.
Sadly, my skills in programming are almost nil. Compare that statement to how I
thought 10 years ago at the top of this bug. ;-)
Anyways, not having mfc is not a huge deal no matter what apps need it, imo, as
long as a copy installed with some other app can do the job without issues. It
seems to me that so far that still works, so getting a builtin mfc*.dll should
continue to be a low priority for the foreseeable future.

Nope, anybody who has even looked at Microsoft's mfc sources
can't work on a wine implementation of mfc.
msvcp80.dll is another one we never thought we'd do, but it turned
out a bunch of apps only needed a very few functions from it.
If somebody analyzes the pidgen problem and finds that only six
functions are really needed from mfc42, then, well, maybe it'd make sense
to implement them.

Brain food.
I agree this should be at least reopened. Just because it wont be fixed "just
yet" doesn't mean it never will.
Now, what could be done in a more... human time scale is implement the most
common functions from MFC42. Having a stub dll and maybe a couple
doz^M^M^Mhundred functions should fix a handful of issues.
The MFC42 source is available with Visual Studio. What are the implications for
Wine? Even though developers are not allowed to reuse that source in Wine, are
they allowed to at least look at it in order to implement functions properly?
What's amazing with Wine is how hundreds of users will create patches for their
own issues, for their own app. If an app crashes because MFC42.dll is missing,
the current solution is "winetricks and that's it". Having a stub dll, even if
it has to warn on every load "MFC42 is poorly supported. If you have issues,
try native.", could get us patches to slowly support it more and more.
Ok, yeah, this is an insane project; but so is Wine, and it's doing well so
far. This could even be done during GSoC, and before you know it,
pops-your-knuckle we have a MFC42.dll good enough for most apps.
Once again, just brain food.

Ah, I remember this bug. Surprised to see variations of it still kicking
around. At any rate, it has indeed been a long time since this was reported and
after reviewing things with a different set of eyes (much more mature eyes), I
agree with others that this should be a low priority, if any.
Richard: linked in some comments above are some downloads that will install
mfc42.dll for you. Once it is installed, then the Rise of Nations installer
should work without any problems. If, however you have problems after
installing one of those downloads and verifying that the necessary dll is
installed on your system, please feel free to open a new bug report regarding
breakage when using that native dll.
I also agree with Dan's comments a couple of years ago about a possible popup
for interesting messages. Missing shared object libs would be a handy one to
have, since Fedora x86_64 doesn't, at present, install OpenAL i686 by default,
and since we do already have a popup about wine-gecko at first launch.
I'll take this to the list before filing a bug, to get opinions on it. Sure
there are higher priorities, but I've seen some lower priority things sneak in
lately. :-)

The Rise of Nations installer is affected by this. It has a DLL that has this
as a dependency. Without mfc42.dll, the product key verification is broken. Is
it possible to reopen this bug?

Pando-based installers, like the League of Legends
downloader explode on startup.
The first two problems are bug 22157 ( workaround: export GC_DONT_GC=1 )
and bug 24017 ( workaround: apply patch attached to bug 24017 that implements
reg query). Once you've worked around those, the installer still crashes,
but this time it says
Log file is being written to C:\users\dank\Temp\LeagueofLegends.exe.log
before exploding. That file ends with
8/15/2010 23:14:00.21:Installer:D:Connection failed.Exception
java.lang.NullPointerException:null
8/15/2010 23:14:00.21:Installer:D:diskToken is empty. PMB is probably down

So it tries to format an error message for WSAECONNREFUSED, fails, and crashes.
The attached patch adds the error message to kernel32, which lets the
app get on to the next problem (PMB.EXE needs about 270 exports from MSVCP90).
I guess we need to expand kernel32's error message table to handle winsock
errors.

It's the first time I try to use winedbg and it's already crying ^^
I compiled my program (attached binary+source) on my virtual xp with "gcc -g
test_eventlog.c -o test_eventlog"
The 'g' flag (should) add debugging infos to the exe.
Thus, I would like debug my code and wine.
To reproduce the bug, just run
alex@Evan:~/Projects/wine$ ./wine ./programs/winedbg/winedbg.exe.so
/path/to/test_eventlog.exe
and type 'break OpenEventLogW', and 'n' several times
The error itself is "fixme:dbghelp_dwarf:parse_cie_details unknown CIE version
0 at 0x1321608"
I guess it's related to how mingw gcc add symbols in the binary.

haven't seen a bug for it. Looks like it may be related to NTFS ACL's.

A music file which on two playbacks shows the bug
Mozart10 is a music notation and notation editing program.
Being able to hear a MIDI output from entered notes, and
the ability to play a notated section or whole piece is a
*very* important feature of the program.
This bug causes the midi playback to freeze on a note,
making the program largely useless. The bug occurs
after the program plays a piece to completion, and then
re-plays the piece.
This MIDI bug is a regression. The most recent WINE
without the bug is wine-1.1.44
After playing a long enough piece through and then attempting
to re-play it, the piece will play only part way through, and
midi will hang, requiring the program to be closed. When it
hangs the console displays:
err:mmtime:TIME_MMTimeStart Cannot create pipe: Too many open files
wine client error:c: pipe: Too many open files
At this point the program cannot be normally closed, and must be killed.
Using wine-1.2-rc3 checked out with git for regression
testing I have this result:

Summary: Desktop icons created with black background
Product: Wine
Version: 1.0.0
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: trivial
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: hoehle(a)users.sourceforge.net
Hi,
+ "WildLife Park 2" and
- "Jack Keane"
were installed the same day on MacOS with wine-1.1.34. While WLP2's desktop
icon looks good, Jack Keane's icon is created with a black background (both
border and inside the steering wheel). This black background bug is not new to
me. It also affected the desktop icons of
- "Ankh" (the first from the trilogy),
- "Geheimakte Tunguska",
- "Felix abenteuerliche Reise",
- "Kleiner Eisbär, kennst Du den Weg?"
and several other titles when I installed them in Linux long ago (some prior to
Wine-1.0). Other installs are not affected, e.g.
+ "Geheimakte 2".
You may scan ~/.loal/share/icons/ for all the icons that Wine created over time
on your HD.
Perhaps another issue, perhaps related: I thought .xpm would be created in
~/.local/share/icons/ only as a fallback when libpng is not available. Well,
Jack Keane's icon was created in one format, WLP2's in the other one. How
comes?
The png vs. xpm issue was re-raised recently in wine-devel:
http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-devel/2010-February/081560.html
BTW, ImageMagick also sets a black background when converting .ico to .png.
OTOH, Eye of Gnome (eog) "Save as" works, so I've been using it to convert .ico
files found on CD to .png icons for .desktop/.command files (the MacOS Finder
displays only .png, KDE and Gnome display both .xpm and .png).
Bug #20924 seems related (black background for icon inside application). Bug
#201 seems different to me: there should be no app calling a DIB function
rather than a strictly Wine-internal CreateDesktopIconFromIcoInExeStructure
invoked by the installer. Also, there's no single console log message about dib
or graphics during installation.

You will need to copy mfc71.dll and msvcrt71.dll inside the Synthmaker

a mixed OpneGL / Bitmap implementation. If this is going to work, a lot of
other trouble applications will work (i think).

To reproduce this problem, run the following command (that's assuming you have
a UTF-8 xterm, otherwise replace UTF-8 with ISO-8859-1 or the appropriate
encoding):
LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8 ./programs/start/start /help
You will notice that all the accentuated characters are missing. This is
because start.c converts the Unicode resource string to the
GetConsoleOutputCP() encoding in the output() function. I think that's correct
but GetConsoleOutputCP() systematically return "850" as the codepage, even if I
change the [Nls\Codepage]/OEM value in the registry.
One hack to fix this is to replace the GetConsoleOutputCP() call with CP_UNIXCP
but I guess that would be wrong in the case where we're running in the Wine
console.
So I think that when the console is a regular Unix terminal
GetConsoleOutputCP() should return the CP_UNIXCP codepage.
