i use ubuntu with 1.1.37 release, problem happen on Karmic & Lucid.
this problem happen when i use Metatrader 4:
when i start this program, wine try to load it but nothing open. Glancing at
process loaded, terminal.exe is running but waiting most of the time. About 3
minutes later, the program opened but still not activated (frozen, can't open
menu or else), then 2 or 3 minutes later, the program is ready and activated.
Later, if i use an other workplace then came back to whatch wine program, i see
nothing because all the windows have diseappeared. If i check system-monitor:
activity is quiet and there is no problem of memory. Closing this app
(system-monitor or else), the empty window stay there.
At that time, crash can happen (have had several times) or happen randomly.

causes Pumuckl / Klabauterjagd to crash at program start in winevdm, during the
intro animation.
The patch is not that bad either, as it makes sound work again in
Klabauterjagd. Sound was lost somewhere between 1.1.30 IIRC and 1.1.33.
The app worked fine with older releases such as wine-1.1.18 (or 1.1.30 IIRC).
Should I run another round of git-bisect to determine the ancestor commit that
caused loss of sound?

FlatOut 2 has some UI glitches on race. The UI elements (map, infos, speed
meter) are sometimes shown as whitish transparent (see the attachment) instead
of the usual solid colored images. It swaps all the time in-game between the
correctly rendered ones, transpared ones and some times there is no elements at
all.
This didn't happen on Wine 1.1.25, but it does occur on 1.1.29. I haven't
tested any versions between them or the new 1.1.30. I'd call this bug a
regression.

Test program to show differences between drawing 1 bpp icons in DrawIcon() and
DrawIconEx()
The function DrawIconEx() doesn't handle Icons with 1 bpp correctly.
I've attached a test program that will draw many different icons in a line with
DrawIcon() and the same line of icons below with DrawIconEx() and
DI_DEFAULTSIZE, DI_NORMAL, DI_COMPAT flags set - which should normally result
in the exact same output.
The drawn icons are (fltr):
1 bpp 2x2 "chessboard" field
32 bpp white, black, red, green, blue icons without alpha channel
32 bpp white, black, red, green, blue icons with increasing values of alpha
This works fine in WindowsXP with 32-bit color depth (I'll attach a screenshot
later).
In Wine the 1 bpp icon is distorted/squeezed, the 32-bit icons are however
drawn correct.
I'll search where the handling of 1 bpp icons differs in those two functions
and fix DrawIconEx() accordingly.
When this is fixed, the DrawIcon-Function could just call DrawIconEx with
DI_DEFAULTSIZE, DI_NORMAL, DI_COMPAT flags (as suggested in
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms648065(VS.85).aspx and done by the
test application) and therefore a lot of complicated, duplicated code could be
removed from "dlls/user32/cursoricon.c".

This should be referenced to Bug 16001.
Quicken 2007 is accepted by wine and shows in my "C Drive" on Ubuntu 9.04.
Quicken does start and has accepted my files which I copied directly from a USB
stick. (I believe this circumvented the problem I stated in Bug 16001 so that
Bug may still be valid.
Now when I attempt to "Open" the files Quicken crashes (program just closes
with no error message.)
When I restart Quicken I repeat the "Open" process and Quicken again crashes in
the exact same way.
Additional possibly related information;
When I start Quicken I continually receive a screen giving me the choice to be
a new user or be a current user of Quicken. The same problem exists if I chose
"current user." If I chose "New User" the program crashes in the same way
without giving me a chance to load a file.

Test showing similar behaviour
Observation:
Trying to run the launcher for The Witcher (1.4) an entry appear in the taskbar
but no window appear. This is using built-in gdiplus.
Using native gdiplus the window appear.
Investigation:
Reading trace logs it becomes evident that when using wine's gdiplus the
launcher calls CreateRectRgn(0, 0, 0, 0) and then nothing more of that kind.
Ending up with a zero size window. While when using the native gdiplus there's
quite a number of CreateRectRgn and CombineRgn following.
This happens after calls to GdipBitmapLockBits and GdipBitmapUnlockBits and the
window shown when using the native gdiplus is shaped after the background
image, so I assume that the pixel data returned is used to build the shape of
the window.
Based on this assumption and the function calls seen in the traces I have build
a small test which shows the same behaviour (attached).
Looking at my test I've noticed that I get different pixel formats reported
when using native and builtin GdipCreateBitmapFromFile/GdipGetImagePixelFormat
using a RGBA png image.
Also, when requesting PixelFormat32bppARGB the pixeldata returned by
GdipBitmapLockBits have an all zero alpha channel (i.e. the whole image is
fully transparent). In my test this is the actual problem.
It is noted in a comment in the code that GdipBitmapLockBits does not fully
consider format.

I am running Warcraft III Reign of Chaos patched to 1.21a on Fedora 7 x86_64 on
an AMD Athlon 64 with a Radeon X1300. The game runs smoothly but MOST times
when I try to save, the save dialog comes up, I enter a save name, I select
overwrite if applicable, the words Saving Game appear. Now if all goes well
the words turn green and the game continues. If it fails, the words remain
there in white, the sound continues playing, but nothing else happens. If I
overwrote a saved game, that game is no longer in my list of saved games. The
only way out is to wineboot -k -f -s and then to restart from the last
successful saved game. I notice that usually (not always) I can save a game in
the very beginning of the game, and as long as I save again soon it may work.
However, 4 out of 5 times it crashes, making the game very unplayable (if I
need to save -- which I do).

Summary: the 'wine start' launcher does not open MS Office
documents that have spaces in their path
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.26
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: rockorequin(a)hotmail.com
MS Office 2007 installs without problems, but if you try to open a file (eg a
.docx file) from nautilus and the file has a space in its path, MS office says
that it cannot find the file.
The launcher for docx files is
~/.local/share/applications/wine-extension-docx.desktop:
[Desktop Entry]
Type=Application
Name=Microsoft Office Word
MimeType=application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.wordprocessingml.document
Exec=/usr/bin/wine start /ProgIDOpen Word.Document.12 %f
NoDisplay=true
StartupNotify=true
Example case:
1. Create a document and save it as /tmp/test document/test.docx.
2. Try to open the file from nautilus (wine should have set up Word 2007 to be
the default; if not, select 'Open With' and 'Microsoft Word').
3. MS Word starts up but complains it can't find /tmp/test.docx and
document/test.docx, ie it is receiving the filename as two separate arguments.
On a perhaps related note, you also cannot open the document with the command
line:
wine "c:\\Program Files\\Office12\\Microsoft Office\\WINWORD.EXE" "`winepath -w
"/tmp/test document/test.docx"`"
since Word complains with the same error message as above.
This is on Ubuntu 9.04 (amd64).

Summary: Oblivion: No sound effects or music during game play
(voices only)
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: toddroe(a)charter.net
When playing Oblivion, there are no sound effects (i.e. no sounds of battle, no
ambient sounds, no background music, no sound from magical effects). Voices are
unaffected. Music plays during the intro and start menu sequences.
This began after Wine 1.1.38 I believe, and has already been regression tested
(see bug #21609).
I've attempted to patch the source code using the workaround given in bug
#21609, but it did not change the symptoms.
Bug #21609 was closed, but I believe that the issue still exists.
Since game play is severely hampered by the absence of sounds (no auditory
clues) and the fact that the game used to work just fine in earlier versions, I
consider this a major bug.

This problem dosn't seem to be just on linux through wine.
I believe that this is a problem even for windows because I have come across
similar results on windows where the screen dosent refresh.
I believe it happend when starcraft brought itself to the front of the screen
without resizing the windows desktop through a message(example: Lag message or
baned from game message)
it was easily fixed by alt-tabing out and back into it.
possibly windows implimented their own work around or blizzard worked around it
using resources not incorporated by wine.

To see this, click New Game, esc to bypass long movie,
then click the rightmost icon in each row (Female / Dwarf / Rogue / Noble )
Next, Quick Play, OK (and maybe one more ok). Another

you are asked a question, and have to select an answer

The game was installed with 'wisotool dragonage', which does

over into my .wine/Windows/system32 and World of Warcraft folders, but to no
avail.
Attached is my error output from the console.

First problem is in XPath evaluation or maybe expected MS-only called
XSLPattern. A position predicate starts with invalid index like:
---
001d:trace:msxml:xmlnode_selectSingleNode (0x174698)->(L"Tips/Tip[0]"
0x1fac820)
001d:trace:msxml:xmlnode_selectNodes (0x174698)->(L"Tips/Tip[0]" 0x1fac7d0)
001d:trace:msxml:queryresult_create (0x7c102fc0, L"Tips/Tip[0]", 0x1fac7d0)
001d:trace:msxml:xmldoc_add_ref (0x7c102fc0)->(3)
001d:trace:msxml:queryresult_create found 0 matches
---
<Tips> does indeed contain a list of <Tip> nodes (about 30 of them), but in
terms of XPath a starting index for first node is 1
(http://www.w3.org/TR/xpath/#predicates).
This needs some tests, for XPath vs XSLPattern switch. Anyway we need pre-parse
query string before passing it to libxml2 it seems.
Next problem is similar to bug 20223 - additional node expected for "<?xml"
declaration, attached patch doesn't work though (I need to study libxml2 code
more to hack it properly).

Summary: EVE Online Dominion 1.1 audio loops/client hangs
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.36
Platform: x86
URL: http://www.eveonline.com/
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: directx-dsound
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: webmaster(a)thw-theorie.de
Since EVE Online Dominion 1.1 (Version: 6.21.126344), running with wine-1.1.36,
audio starts to loop during character load, and after a few seconds, it hangs
completely. Turning audio off (in the client's options) fixes the problem.
Enabling audio after loading the character results in an immediate crash.
Steps to reproduce:
- If you don't have an EVE Online subscription, get a free 14-day trial account
and download the client at eveonline.com
- Make sure you have ANY wine sound API selected and working
- Run EVE, log in, and load a character. To recognize the begin of the sound
loop, enable ingame music.
- While the loading bar is shown, audio output begins to loop
- After a few seconds, the client hangs. CPU output remains at a high level.
Alternatively:
- Disable audio completely at the login screen
- Log in and load a character
- Play a while if you like, EVE will run stable
- Open the options screen, and re-enable audio
- The client hangs immediately
Remarks:
It makes no difference which audio driver wine uses. The bug occurs for all
APIs (OSS, ALSA, Pulseaudio).
It makes no difference whether EVE Voice is enabled or not.
CCP told me in reply to a petition, that they "changed the audio subsystem to
fix some bugs". According to the patch notes, these changes apply to EVE Voice.
I didn't test older wine versions. According to posts in the EVE forums, those
are also affected, at least down to 1.1.33:
http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1254681
When using a native dsound.dll/dsound3d.dll from DX 9c, audio additionally
crackles, but the loop/hang still occurs.

After a commit 15720f8141231459138f1a0df7cafdc5b308cec9 a document will be
created.
The real problem is installer - with native msxml3 file Site000.xml is created
during installation and is used on first start, then deleted.

Actually I can't get it running in wine-1.2-rc4-70-g802c4de with native
msxml3/msxml4. It seems to close a thread when Site000.xml isn't found in
Update dir from "Users/Public/eBay/Turbo Lister 2". Adding empty file with such
name allows it to crash in some app module.
P.S. I have a tiny patch that lets it to get at this point with builtin msxml3
too.

I have installed 1.2~rc4-0ubuntu1~lucidppa1 version - with the same behaviour.
I hope I will not discover any show stoppers in RCs, so I'll keep ppa source

As for .tran file - LTspice uses .asc files for schematics. The issue doesn't
depend on opened file (just "New" is sufficient).

ReportedBy: n.andrew.walsh(a)gmail.com
I managed to get EVE-Online working okay using onboard nVidia hardware this
summer, using the Classic version. However, I bought a nice new video card (ATi
chipset), and upgraded wine at the same time (I had it working, sorta, with a
pre-1.0.x version; this but applies to >=1.0.x). Now EVE will not load. I get
the splash screen, and the following generic errors:
wine .wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/CCP/EVE/eve.exe

fixme:mixer:ALSA_MixerInit No master control found on HDA ATI HDMI, disabling
mixer
Then ExeFile.exe stops running, and I'm back where I started.
If I re-install the game fresh, I do get to a login screen, but there are no
ships (just the flame trails behind them). I am told to install a patch. At the
end of the patching process, the patcher says it needs to reboot. I click okay:
and the program closes, but nothing happens.
It seems - from what I'm being told by an ATi dev on this thread:
http://phoronix.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13211&page=4
that this is a problem with direct rendering. Can the wine devs please let me
know if they can duplicate this problem? Contrary to the report on the AppDB, a
lot of people are having problems with this game.
Thanks,
-a

If I am anticipating valve's impending actions, counter strike source will be
upgraded to the orangebox engine. Like Day of Defeat Source, and Team Fortress
2, this means they will now use webkit for the rendering of the ingame MOTD --
which works most of the time. As for DODS I can note that you will need the/a
Times New Roman font. The default motd will call for that font, and the game
will crash if you don't have it.

Railroad Tycoon 3, I have played this game many times before, now I want to
play it and I get message like this:
err:aspi:SCSI_OpenDevice Failed to open device /dev/sg0: Permission denied
err:aspi:SCSI_OpenDevice Failed to open device /dev/sg1: Permission denied
err:aspi:SCSI_OpenDevice Failed to open device /dev/sg2: Permission denied
hence game is not able to check if the file right CD is inserted.
as a background, I have two users, one for every day use, second one just for
games - I had the game installed as my default user, but decided to have
“gamer” account, so I deleted .wine folder and installed a game as a “gamer”
user... on my default user game worked flawlessly...

Won't be ready for 1.2.
As i am the only one trying to fix that.
And it is a hard Problem because with that, Windows behaves very different from
unicode, so it is hard.
But i heard that unicode wants to get more Microsoft compatible, so we might
have a chance which is easier.

> (From update of attachment 10196 [details])
> Communication is at the USB level, not the file mount level.
Sorry, that is incorrect. Yes, TomTom HOME will load ActiveSync if that is
available, but that is to support TomTom Navigator (their Windows Mobile
product). Their own PND line, the ones running Linux communicate only via USB
Mass Storage.
The main Wine problem with HOME seems to be recognition of the device. I've
noted that the different HOME versions behave differently. Let's focus on
2.0-2.7 for the moment, the HOME 1.x releases are obsolete. But the 2.x
releases too are not all identical when it comes to spotting the device. Let me
state what I can see for HOME 2.7
The only thing that doesn't go through the file system is retrieving the USB
descriptors (In particular vendor 1390, and serial number). TomTom doesn't use
the USB product field; all devices are 0001. Instead the serial number prefix
is unique. According to <http://www.tomtom.com/products/maps/select.php> its
first two characters determine the model. To retrieve those fields HOME uses
the registry.
The registry keys HOME reads depends on the OS. HOME always needs
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USB\Vid_1390&Pid_0001. The
subkey here is USB's iSerial field. On XP, HOME also needs a ParentIdPrefix
field. It can find that in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USBSTOR\Disk&Ven_TomTom&Prod_ONE_IQ_Routes\<iSerial>
but that Prod_ part will probably depend on the product descriptor of your
particular device. The ParentIdPrefix can then be found in the appropriate
value in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\MountedDevices (note: these are really in
UTF-16, even though they have type binary).
On Vista, HOME only needs the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\MountedDevices. The
values of these keys on Vista are now just device instance Ids (as mentioned in
comment 40 above).

Well, it seems to break several thinks. One is sound in the original report
whoo use ALSA. My problem is, that it breaks the iconifying stuff as After
leaving the window just iconify it to a not existing icon (I think) After that
the sound is still playing but there is no window (nor a icon) around to
interact with the game.
And I use it with OpenGL and OSS.
There might be a automatic test that prove it ok. But the real world prove it
to break it.

#26: Yes, it still happens. I also test the issue with the newest developing
version 1.2 rc4 and found the problem there also. Ah, and I did the test on a
fully new installed system with also other architecture (amd64 now).
Still just revoking patch d836a50 solve the problem.
Let me guess a bit what the bug could be about. It could be easily reproduced
with fvwm or other simple window managers. However, the major number of users
use a click and play desktop like KDE or Gnome this days. As that two window
managers have a, uhm, very special way to display the background, as they lay a
window in background to display the desktop (very simple explanation) they
might act different than window managers without that broken design. It might
be that d836a50 is correct to work around that strange design but it seems to
be broken on systems which do not implement that thinks.
As I do not see a real technical implication to have this patch (apart if it
might be the right way or not), wouldn't it be better to revoke that patch and
add it in a better and more robust version later on when it is tested enough?
Regards

This is a follow on bug to Bug 10836 which appears to have been cured but now
the programme runs on to reveal this problem.
Skijump finds its output screen (it did not under the 10836) sets it up as a
black window and then errors out with a message "Clock Error".
A terminal window shows messages about the programme wanting two backbuffers,
some d3d messages and a message about changing thread type but nothing
obviously related to clocks.
I tried to do a debug log - but that seems to change the results and the log
seemed to be looping through the same code until my patience wore out.
The code it was looping through did include calls to GetTickCount which does
tie in with clocks and is mentioned in other bugs such as 8320 and 7710 as a
problem.
I do not know how to take this further.

This bug still exists on wine git head at 2010-06-20.
(I have just suffered through building wine again, on 64 bit OS this time for
extra difficulty, in order to have working Orcad)
The commented line in comment #3 is in EndDialog(), which is supposed to be
called from the dialog's own process, eg when OK or cancel is pressed, with the
hwnd of the dialog. It is hard to imagine that the window is not already
active. I.e. it doesn't need to activate itself as if it is another window?
Someone with more knowledge of what this code was trying to do in the first
place needs to comment! (it predates git history...)

I tested the same behaviour on the top level window for winefile, and found
that it forced the size the same way as for the MDI window. It also set the
position of the window to -32000,-32000 but that is likely a result of the task
bar being used since windows 95.
Also note that icons with transparency don't seem to have their background
being erased before being drawn. Of course this is the scrambled window effect
that was pointed out, which my previous patch does not address.

Modified winefile for debugging the bug
The delphi application seem to be responding the WM_SIZE message in the child
window. They seem to get the normal window rect with GetWindowPlacement, then
for some reason use SetWindowPos on the just minimized window to resize it to
the previous size.
The attached patch modifies winefile for debugging. Specifically it reproduces
the bug in winefile by using SetWindowPos on WM_SIZE when the window is
minimized, and prints the messages received during the SetWindowPos call (and
dumping some interesting structures in the messages).
I found that WM_WINDOWPOSCHANGING was being sent with the proposed new size,
but this size was fixed before WM_NCCALCSIZE was sent to the window. I also
tried returning 0 without calling the DefWindowProc on WM_WINDOWPOSCHANGING to
make sure that DefWindowProc didn't make the change. This implies that
SetWindowPos fixes the value after sending WM_WINDOWPOSCHANGING in user32.
(Side note: I noticed that WM_GETMINMAXINFO sent from DefWindowProc on Windows
had the ptReserved equal to the fixed size of an icon title, but wine seems to
set this to the window rect's current top left position, but this isn't
relevant for this bug.)

Summary: WINE incorrectly determines that the nouveau driver
does not allow direct rendering
Product: Wine
Version: 1.2-rc3
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown

ReportedBy: frederik.hertzum(a)gmail.com
Created an attachment (id=28933)

Output from wine, when running the Fallout 2 installer.
Wine incorrectly determines that the nouveau driver does not allow direct
rendering of graphics, with the reason that the vendor is unknown.
Direct rendering is reported as being supported by glxinfo and by experience
with other software (software that uses OpenGL and X11 compositing).
In particular the Fallout 2 installer crashes before showing anything, while
tools like winecfg, winemine, winefile and other windows software works fine.
SELinux has been disabled so as not to interfere with wine.
Previous versions of wine has not been tested to see if this is a regression --
I simply have no way of knowing if any previous versions are good or not.

CreateSurface is rejecting surface creation with DDSCAPS_FLIP |
DDSCAPS_PRIMARYSURFACE texture capability flags set. A quick CreateSurface test
I wrote, however, shows that CreateSurface allows texture creation with
DDSCAPS_FLIP | DDSCAPS_PRIMARYSURFACE if DDSCAPS_COMPLEX is also set.
If I comment out the particular flag check in IDirectDrawImpl_CreateSurface,
the crash seems to be avoided, although the game doesn't seem to render
anything, and ddraw fixmes are emitted continuously.

registering it allows 3DMark2001 to start. Bug 18773 has more description of

Water rendering in Wine-1.2-rc4
Using Wine-1.2-rc4 here, the rendering of water looks just like on the
screenshot in comment #1, so it's still a valid issue in recent Wine when
'Pixel shading' is 'on' in the game launcher.
My testing showed that Wine-1.1.27 was the last version which rendered water
correctly.
Can I post the result of the regression test here, or a new bugreport should be
opened?

crashes with gui-box message:
Fatal Error:Could not load module 'bin/vgui2.dll'
I was read the bug http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6476
and I think this is not duplicate, cz in my case it not looks like steam bug,
because I do install steam into a new clean WINEPREFIX with virgin disk C:\,
with defaul install directory path, from official steam web-site, and still
have the vgui2.dll error.
I roll back to wine-1.1.43 and Steam works without any erorrs.
I was read many forum topics about the error trying theyr solutions, but no one
solves the problem.
Ok, now the most interest thing with wine-1.2-rc2:
then I run "wine Steam" with WINEDEBUG=+relay - it works! but ofc very
slowly(unplayable).
Can someone reproduce the bug?

Guitar Pro 5 application (tabulature editing software) behaves incorrectly when
minimized. After minimizing the application to tray I see that widgets inside
are disappearing. Window is not restored correctly - I need to right-click and
click close - the application doesn't crash, it runs in background correctly.
This happens only when WINE windows are managed by local window manager (tried
with Compiz and Metacity). When window is managed by WINE this doesn't happen.

Errors thrown when installing Harry Potter a t Half-Blood Prince
The program causing the problem is the demo of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood
Prince, which can be downloaded at http://harrypotter.ea.com/#/Downloads/demo.
In order to check what went wrong with the installer I unzipped the File and
manually started the actual installer (EASetup.exe).
The installer works fine, until the actual install, when right before copying
the first files it gets stuck displaying "Status: Removing files". In the
meantime the console keeps printing:
"fixme:mscoree:LoadLibraryShim (0x1272ab0 L"fusion.dll", (nil), (nil),
0xbfd3a0): semi-stub
fixme:fusion:get_assembly_directory Ignoring assembly architecture"
If a native fusion.dll is used, the installer works.
I have tried this with 1.1.26 and the git version wine-1.1.26-231-gfe9d360 and
a clean .wine directory.
Attached is a the console output.

When channels or server windows are minimized a tooltip is displayed at the

Reproducible using any set of channel and server windows as far as I can tell.
Minimizing multiple windows will add to the list of tooltips across the bottom

Summary: Direct3D output is at half the frame rate of OpenGL
output in WinUAE
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.4
Platform: PC
URL: http://www.winuae.net/
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P2
Component: directx-d3d
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: markk(a)clara.co.uk
WinUAE is an open source (GPL) emulator of Amiga computers, available from
http://www.winuae.net/.
The output of WinUAE can be rendered using DirectDraw (default), Direct3D or
OpenGL. When using OpenGL, the WinUAE output is "frame exact", i.e. the output
will be at 60Hz if that is the user-selected emulation frame rate. Setting the
refresh rate of your monitor to match the WinUAE output rate results in very
smooth animation.
However, when using Direct3D the output is not smooth. The Direct3D output
seems to be only updated every second frame (e.g. at 30Hz). (On Windows the
Direct3D output works correctly.)
To demonstrate:
- Install and run WinUAE 1.5.2.
- Select a disk image for drive DF0: in the Floppy drives page, e.g.
rsi1.adf.gz as downloaded from ftp://ftp.coresystems.de/pub/uae/rsi1.adf.gz
- Ideally, set the refresh rate of your computer's desktop to 50Hz. If that is
not possible, in the Display settings page change "FPS adj." to 60 (if your
desktop refresh rate is 60Hz).
- In the filter page, check the Enable box and select the OpenGL filter.
- Click Start to start the emulation. When animation/scrolling text appears
notice how it is mostly very smooth since the image is updated once per frame.
- Press Alt-F4 to quit WinUAE.
- Repeat the above process, except choosing Direct3D instead of OpenGL. Notice
how animation/scrolling appears jerky, as if the image is only being updated
every second frame.

Peggle Deluxe and Peggle Extreme go to black screen and become unresponsive

zooming in and out during the end of the level and for some flashy effects. The
music is still playing, though. But I can't close the game, launch a system
monitor or go to the second desktop. The only way is to log out with
Ctrl+Alt+Backspace.
Tested on Ubuntu 8.04.1 with Metacity window decorator. My video card is
Geforce 8800 GT 512 and I use Nvidia drivers in version 173.14.12.
A free demo of Peggle Deluxe can be downloaded from here -

you will need to install Steam, which is also free.
Peggle Extreme is packaged with Orange Box, which costs 40$ -

+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #13429 +++
Printing resulted and still results in garbled printouts: approximately the
first half of the first page is like it should be, the rest (of the page, and
the whole of next pages) is garbled, words printedover eachother. I have to cut
and paste the contents into a word processor (like Open Office) to be able to
print an email.
This problem existed in Wine 0.8.x, 0.9.x and 1.0 RC1&2 versions.
Under Windows XP (SP1 and SP2) it was possible to click print an email message.
In Ubuntu (7.04, 7.10 and 8.04) under Wine (0.8.x, 0.9.x and 1.0 RC1/2)
printing is possible, but after the first half of the first page, so including
any following page, it looks like kerning, spacing, centering and use of fonts
get garbled: words can be recognized on the printout, lines are still lines,
but within a line, the text is unreadable, words are printed over eachother, on
the wrong place in a line, and probable words from a next line are printed over
previous lines too.

List of stderr o/p from running app
Application Coastal Explorer GPS marine navigation app starts up and will
display some functions (e.g., background map) but lacks the needed toolbar and
menus across the top of the app's main window. Keyboard commands are honored
and some sub-windows will open if called from the keyboard. Effectively,
though, the app is close to dead in the water. (Rose Point Navigation Systems
- http://rosepointnav.com - see the site's screenshots of V1.1.61 running
(shows position from GPS on maps, drives autopilot, and displays data from
ship's instruments) - ignore the V2.0 beta stuff)
The installation ran without any surprises. Installation seems to be mostly
expanding a ZIP and doing some licensing housekeeping. A desktop icon is
created and it will launch the app. The command is:
env WINEPREFIX="/home/n5470/.wine" wine "C:\Program Files\Coastal Explorer
Trial\Chart.exe"
Using a simple shell script (one liner - as above) to set the environment
variable and launch the app from a console, the response is:
The proliferation of toolbar errors is, I suspect, not a little an explanation
of why the app won't show its toolbar menus. Doh...
The host system is an old HP laptop - Pavilion N5470, 1 GHz Athlon with 512M
and 60G HDD (50+G free). The host OS is openSUSE 10.3, a fresh install. The
openSUSE wine (.44) was uninstalled with YaST and .55 was installed manually
(usual configure and makes).

When I first open the chat window, the chat window gains focus and I can type
into it. However if I select another window and then go back to the chat
window, it ignores all keyboard input.
This bug occurs with or without managed windows. With windows managed by wine
rather than the wm, I notice that the keyboard input goes to the previously
selected window.
This occurs with version 389.2 of IMVU. I suspect that this is a regression
with respect to older versions of IMVU, however since we do not have the source
code to IMVU, I doubt this is useful.

Hi, a user submitted garbage test results for this app. Quote: Clicking either
"Stopping/Range Tables" or "TRIM Calcuation" in the main window, the
application crashes. Clicking the former, a window pops up saying "Run-time
error '62': Input past end of file".
I was able to track this down to a file being empty, namely Data\VERSION in the
app's directory. After installation on windows this files contains some version
info about srim. Copying this to wine solved the problem.
So the bug is that the installer fails to create that file Data\VERSION with
proper content in wine, whereas on windows it does.
(I had a look at the installer log but couldn't really find where the bug is,
if anyone else could have a look, great)

When I disable support of window manager it works normally, i can minimize an

Adding patches that apply to 1.2-rc3. This will not make Wine 1.2 due to the
complexity of the patch and the effort that AJ and me will have to take to make
this a very clean patch.

Still present in 1.2_rc3 (behavior as noted in #17):
1) Right click on an entry in the left side "legend"
2) Select *any* option from the context menu (hide/show works well because it
doesn't bring up a new dialog)
3) Notice that the cursor is now a pointing hand and there is a black line with
arrows following the cursor (constrained within the legend). This is identical
behavior to if you grab an item within the legend and drag it.
4) This behavior does not stop until a click is recorded. In fact, if this
click is recorded outside the legend, the original item is moved to the
location indicated by the black line, consistent with drag and drop.
