Seems to be fixed in 1.2-rc-2. Tried installing Silktest 5.0.3 twice with clean
wineprefix with Wine set to "Windows XP" and both times it completed
successfully without any disk space warnings.
A sidenote: if Wine is set to "Windows 98" then the installation is stuck at
"inspecting gdi32.dll in c:\windows\system32" as Dan (comment #1) describes.
Anyway, fixed if set to Win xp mode.

Wine should use the user's system setting for the subpixel font smoothing.
For bonus points, it should realize when the font smooting setting is changed
and adjust automatically.

Hello,
there is a custom action "SetupWizard" that refers to "SOURCEDIR" property
which is empty at the point the custom action is run, resulting in failure.
This property is normally not available unless the standard "ResolveSource"
action has been executed.

The installer tries to load some gui resource dll and fails in first place.
--- snip ---
0015:Call KERNEL32.LoadLibraryW(00b5e3a8

ret=10001013
0015:Ret KERNEL32.LoadLibraryW() retval=00000000 ret=10001013
...
--- snip ---
The path
"C:\\windows\\Installer\\{5783F2D7-5001-0409-0002-0060B0CE6BBA}\\INSTBASICUI.DLL"
is actually only valid on reinstall (product already installed), hence the
failure is correct (5783F2D7-5001-0409-0002-0060B0CE6BBA = product code).
The installer then tries to load the resource dll from different path, using
the "SOURCEDIR" property:
--- snip ---
0015:Call msi.MsiGetSourcePathW(00000002,100152b8
L"SOURCEDIR",00b5e3a8,00b5e3a4) ret=10001180

0015:Ret KERNEL32.GetLastError() retval=0000007e ret=1000901d
--- snip ---
If "SOURCEDIR" property would exist at this point, the installer constructs a
path like this:
"SOURCEDIR" property ->
"c:\install\Autodesk\AutoCAD2007TrialInstallImage\Bin\acadFeui"
append:
"ACAD_INST_RESDLL_PATH" property -> "windows\installer"
Resulting in final path:
"c:\install\Autodesk\AutoCAD2007TrialInstallImage\Bin\acadFeui\windows\installer"
--- snip ---
$ pwd

-rw-rw-r--. 1 focht focht 304744 2006-03-05 04:58 InstRes.dll
--- snip ---
The installer would then LoadLibrary() the "INSTBASICUI.DLL" resource dll
(ideally succeeding) and resolve the export "WelcomeDlg" correctly.
Due to failure to resolve the dll path it tries to resolve the export with NULL
module handle resulting in custom action failure:
--- snip ---
0015:Call KERNEL32.GetProcAddress(00000000,00e4f540 "WelcomeDlg") ret=10005531
0015:Ret KERNEL32.GetProcAddress() retval=00000000 ret=10005531

0015:Ret KERNEL32.FreeLibrary() retval=00000001 ret=6c07b93b
...
0015:trace:msi:DllThread custom action (15) returned 1603
...
002e:err:msi:ITERATE_Actions Execution halted, action L"SetupWizard" returned
1603
--- snip ---
As already said, the "SOURCEDIR" property is normally set using the
"ResolveSource" action.
Using ORCA one can see that the "ResolveSource" standard action is only
contained in "InstallExecuteSequence" table in "acad.msi":
--- snip "InstallExecuteSequence" table ---
ResolveSource NOT Installed 910
--- snip "InstallExecuteSequence" table ---
Unfortunately after "CostFinalize" action the "InstallUISequence" table is
populated first (UILevel > 0)
1. InstallUISequence (everything up to ExecuteAction)
2. ExecuteAction in InstallUISequence calls InstallExecuteSequence
3. after all actions in InstallExecuteSequence are done -> any action scheduled
after ExecuteAction in InstallUISequence
--- snip ---
002e:trace:msi:msi_get_property returning L"5" for property L"UILevel"
002e:trace:msi:ACTION_PerformUIAction Performing action
(L"MigrateFeatureStates")
...
--- snip ---
"SetupWizard" (id=1200) < "ExecuteAction" (id=1300)
--- snip "InstallUISequence" table ---
SetupWizard 1200
...
ExecuteAction 1300
--- snip "InstallUISequence" table ---
This post from James Hawkins also indicates that "ResolveSource" must be
somehow treated specially:
http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-patches/2006-October/031700.html
--- quote ---
MSI installers usually have at least two install sequencing tables,
InstallExecuteSequence and InstallUISequence. If the install is run
at the Full UI level, then the installer executes the actions in the
InstallUISequence table in order, up to the ExecuteAction sequence.
At this point, the installer starts running through the actions in the
InstallExecuteSequence table. On the other hand, this test shows that
some actions in the InstallExecuteSequence are run before certain
actions in the InstallUISequence table. I don't know if the installer
has a set list of standard actions that are run in the
InstallExecuteSequence before the InstallUISequence, or what, but this
test at least shows that there is at least one action, ResolevSource,
that is run in the InstallExecuteSequence before other actions in the
InstallUISequence.
--- quote ---

I suggest this bug to be closed. Based o the comments, it has been a while
since someone can't eject the first CD. Based on the description given in
latest comments (#9, #11 and #13), the error they are getting is the one
described in bug 9002. So, either this bug and bug 9002 are the same, or this
bug is already fixed probably since December 2008.

Summary: Wine doesn't work well with Jack 2 (jackd)
Product: Wine
Version: 1.2-rc1
Platform: x86
URL: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=58141
8
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: jkohen(a)users.sourceforge.net
Debian recently pushed to unstable and testing Jack 2 (jackd) in place of the
previous version. I've noticed that this had a strange effect on Wine. Every
time a process starts, Wine prints the following to the console:
Cannot connect to server socket err = No existe el fichero o el directorio
Cannot connect to server socket
jack server is not running or cannot be started
Then it hang for a couple minutes there. Finally the process resumes. Sort of.
For instance, the "updating configuration" windows, when it appears, never
disappears. Mass Effect on Steam never starts up.
All the issues above go away once I downgrade back to libjackd 0.118+svn3796-3,
which is Jack 1. Running the Jack 2 daemon with Jack 2 gets me past the delays,
but Mass Effect still doesn't work.
My sound system is ALSA and Wine is set up to use it. I don't have any custom
ALSA configuration in my home dir or in /etc.
Surprisingly compiling Wine with --disable-jackd ad removing all the
winejack.drv* files from my system doesn't seem to make a difference. I've
tried Wine 1.1.42, 1.1.44, and 1.2-rc1. For the first I used the Debian
compiled version, for the latter two, my own, and all give the same behavior.

It seems not possible to cut the env any further, but is there a debug flag to

Patch needs to be updated so it will apply to the latest git and go through a
full checkout.
This needs to have the target changed (again) and pulled from the 1.2 list as I
don't think this will make it into the Wine 1.2 release.

Without masquerading or with defined source ip (iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING

It seems to successfully load within a XP SP3 guest on KVM, so the LunarCal

Running Ubuntu 10.04, Wine 1.2.rc2, Quicken 2009 r2.
New patch 7 exists for Quicken 2009, but running Wine on QW09R7Patch.exe
results in Quicken complaining it's not the latest (It is, since I
updated release R2 with R7 running in native Windows 2000. Trying to
ensure my apps work on Ubuntu before sunsetting W2K).
Sorry for just the one attachment. Tried attaching 2 others but this form only
accepts one and I couldn't figure out how to combine them. Quicken2.png would
have shown the QW0R9Patch.exe file saved on my disk and Quicken4.png would have
shown update not completed; update will not work on my version..

This affects enter_bug.cgi too.
1. File a bug.
2. Try to file another.
3. Error: You already used this form to log bug xxxx.
In Firefox, you can just hit refresh and it keeps all the data in the form and
assigns a new ID, so the bug can then be filed.
Presumably the cache is doing what it's supposed to, and the web server should
be issuing the correct header.
IIRC all Bugzillas do this.
There is a similar discussion here:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=156865
(Although from what I quickly read the bug seems to claim that the opposite
occurs).

I was elated to find World of Goo worked perfectly right out of install, and I
played it for a good four hours, on and off. This included closing out of the
game and restarting my computer. All during this time, the game would start up
without issue.
At one point, however, the game started crashing on startup, giving me five
separate error dialog windows. There was no software change to my system,
nothing modified, and absolutely no changes made at all between the last time
the game successfully started up and when it stopped working. Attached is the
game's crash log.

QueryServiceStatusEx call was reimplemented to use implementation from

With wine-1.2-rc2-197-ge1fd439 and Win98 mode installer reports success (but
doesn't copy msi.dll to system32 for example). So this might be fixed.

If this is not one of your printers, it will be embarrassing, but "Adobe PDF"
shows in all my wine programs and does not show CUPS. So, I am presuming that
since it showed up when I upgraded to 1.2rc2, that it is one of your.
I does to print. you press the "ok" dialog button on the print dialog after
selecting "Adobe PDF" and nothing happens. You do not even leave the print
dialog.
What kind of trace would you like me to do?
-T
p.s I would also love an "Adobe PS" printer for post script when I need to fax.
Since you have to convert to postscript first before converting to PDF, this
should be easy to implement.
p.s.s CUPS' "CUPS-PDF" virtual printer is not a PDF printer, but rather a Post
Script printer and you have to use ps2pdf to do the final conversion. So we
already have a print to PS, it is just named incorrectly and we do not need an
extra printer from you guys for post script. I would still love the extra
printer.

Summary: Pharaoh - can't play on fullscreen
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.7
Platform: PC

Pharaoh game 1.0 is unplayable when set to fullscreen in winecfg. After loading
screen and intro movie, you see black screen only, while music is still
playing. It's a regression bug. With wine version 1.0rc3 this bug doesn't exist
- the game is fully playable in fullscreen mode. After this I tested versions
1.1.3 - 1.1.7 and they all have this bug. Tested with clean .wine directory.
Console output from running Pharaoh.exe is the same for all versions above,
including 1.0rc3. Monitor resolution in fullscreen mode: 1280x1024.

Can confirm this on two PCs. OS: Ubuntu 10.04. Wow Runs in windowed mode, and
using ALSA. (OSS is shuttering) One machine has a Creative Audigy2, the other
is an Asus k50in laptop with some nvidia based card.
Wow starts up, and randomly sound is gone. Play sound in background is enabled.
Only restart gets it back. Didn't experience this on previous Ubuntu versions,
so the bug might be somewhere in the upgraded OS.
If you require additional info, please keep in mind, i'm no ubuntu guru yet.

the steps from "Comment #3 From Austin English". That should get you past that
bug. But now when i try to load Y!WE it basically starts and it looks like
nothing is going on, but i found there is a blank box in the top left corner
that gets a 'stuck image' in it, of whatever was lasted moved over it, i did
run it from the terminal and there are a few fixme's through out, but the
wine/Y!WE doesnt crash, and i have to ctrl+c from the terminal to end it.
I cannot (that i know of) do anything with this blank box, but i did notice
that if i move the courser, or something over that the log file gets bigger...

In 1.1.44 everything was fine. In the 1.2 rc's the font looks awful, nearly

It looks like it might be because of some system setting that's now being used

see if that stops the fonts rendering badly.

cannot see the mouse at all while it's over the game window, while the mouse
appears just fine over any other part of the screen.
Also, I could not close the game afterwards, and in trying to close it, my
computer slowed down to the point that I had to restart my computer to do
anything.
Since I'm new to this, I don't know any of the technical stuff so if any more
information is needed, just tell me where to look for it.

The problem is caused in LISTVIEW_Refresh around "if (prcErase) {". Almost all
WM_PAINT messages use NULL for prcErase, therefore the background isn't repaint
correctly, because the columns are redrawn by an iterator and the remaining
space seems to be left unattanded... An unconditional
LISTVIEW_FillBkgnd(infoPtr, hdc, clientrect); could solve the problem, but I'm
not sure, if this is an appropriate suggestion.

WINEDEBUG="+dsound" log with Hinterland
I've tested this in 1.1.12 and latest GIT, as well as latest GIT + the patch
from bug 16832 (which fixes a minor crash bug).
On run, Hinterland starts and loads the company logo in the window, and then
transitions to a white screen (which I presume is supposed to be something
else, but that fails to render), at which point, horrible static-like noise
begins blaring from the speakers.
If you've applied the patch mentioned above, clicking once in the white will
load the main menu, instead of crashing. The horrible static-like noise
persists with no apparent variation. It continued to persist until I disabled
sound output in the Options menu.
Having attempted to play the game with sound enabled, there are some apparent
variations in sound once gameplay begins, and I heard the noise for buttons
being pressed once or twice when I did so.
I'll attach the WINEDEBUG="+dsound" log, but it's rather large, so I'll be
attaching it as a bz2.

Hi,
I have installed openSuse 11.1, which uses wine 1.1.11. I had already used wine
with openSuse 10.3 which, I think, had the version 1.0.
I have a dictionary for windows which doesn't work well in wine 1.1.11 but it
worked with a small problem, but not so big, in 1.0.
As in all dictionaries, the explanation of a word is shown in a text box. When
the explanation is too long the text box automatically wrap the words or it
shows a horizontal scollbar or something equivalent so as to read the rest
text. This doesn't happen in my case. For example let say that the text box has
5 cm width
This is a very long long long long long long long
long long long long long long long long long long
long long long long long long long long long long
long long long long long long long long long long
long long long long long long long long long long
text.
In my case, after the first sentence nothing is shown since everything is
hidden. The problem is not only that the words are not wrapped but also that
the cursor doesn't move on so as to reveal the hidden words.
I didn't have this problem in wine 1.0. What I had was that although the words
were wrapped when the text reached the hight of the toolbox everything again
were hidden. Nevertheless, I could move the cursor downwards and see the rest
text.

The problem has been fixed with the code:

When sound set to "hardware", some sounds are not heard from the correct
position. Among these are for instance aircraft engine sounds (yours and
foreign) and gear and flap retraction/extension sounds. Other sounds such as
gunfire are always heard from the correct position.
One of the positions where sounds are heard is the initial spawn point (at
least for airplanes). However, there appear to be more such points, always at
ground level. When one flies close to ground for some time, sometimes he will
hear himself overflying a position.
Soundcards tested:
1) Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03)
2) E-mu 0202 USB
To reproduce:
Install wwiionline (download from ftp://downloads.wwiionline.com/).
Run WW2_sse2.exe (or any other executable) to go to offline training.
Select a aircraft. Start engines with "e". Increase the throttle until the
aircraft is rolling. Engine sound will slowly fade. Take off (or stay rolling
on the ground..) and fly low over the starting position left to right. You will
hear the airplane passing overhead.
Occurs in all wine versions tested, from 1.1.3 to 1.1.8. OS is Debian, wine
built from sources.

Hello,
There is an issue with Knights of the Old Republic game - when I start the
game, the screen flickers a lot (it's very hard to start the game itself).
It happens only when playing videos. Doesn't happen in virtual desktop mode -
it just runs without changing the resolution.
It might be related to tray icon - it seems the focus jump between the game
itself and "Wine System Tray" as seen in virtual desktop mode. When run in this
mode, the game is playable, but the tray is on the top - user needs to click on
it, then unminimize the game.
Cheers

Severity: minor
Priority: P2
Component: directx-dsound
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: rasto(a)ns.ksp.sk
The game suffers very bad fps drops (from ~60 to 0.5-0.2 for few seconds) when
certain sounds are played with hardware sound selected. This occurs in all wine
sound configurations.
Soundcards tested:
1) Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03)
2) E-mu 0202 USB
To reproduce:
Install wwiionline (download from ftp://downloads.wwiionline.com/).
Run WW2_sse2.exe (or any other executable) to go to offline training.
Select a two-engined bomber/transport aircraft, for instance the C47.
Start engines with "e". Wait a few seconds until the aircraft starts to roll
slowly. Now turn the engines off with "e" again. The problem is most pronounced
when turning the engines off like this, but appears (often to lesser extent)
often, making the game unplayable with sound.
Seems to be present with sound both "hardware" and "software" but not with
sound "disabled".
Occurs in all wine versions tested, from 1.1.3 to 1.1.8. OS is Debian, wine
built from sources.

A few different in-game events seem to trigger this bug. The easiest way to
trigger it is just to open the faction summary window and click on the senate

campaign. I -seem- to remember this working better in the early beta days, but
can't get any versions that old to compile anymore. If I have any luck I will
make up a regression test report.

Copying/pasting between native and Wine apps is bug 7372. The problem
originally reported in this bug is with copying/pasting between Firefox running

OK, I know now what makes the outlined circles not show up correctly. It is the
way your current implementation alternates between HLine and SetPixel calls in
each step. This makes it possible for the HLine to overwrite perviously set
pixels, making the outline seem incomplete.
A proper implementation might probably have to do this: For each scanline
determine the (maximum) width and draw the corresponding HLine. After that do
all SetPixel calls on this line. Proceed to the next scanline, repeat.
It might be a bit simpler (but also a tad more ineffective) to draw the
complete inside of the ellipse first and then draw all of the outline after
that.
Also in you current implementation you cannot write:
"else {//test ever done before if (physDev->penStyle != PS_NULL)"
Instead you have to check:
"if (physDev->penStyle != PS_NULL) {"
This is because both penStyle and brushStyle can be non-null simultaneously.
About the division by two and float/integer stuff:
I doubt that everything is done in float because of the speed penalty. It seems
quite possible that Windows uses (28.4) fixed point arithmetic for all
calculations.

Civilization IV complete screenshot with corrupted fonts.
The ingame fonts in Civilization IV have become corrupted since I have updates
wine to version 1.2-rc2.
I had not played the game since 1.1.44, so I'm not sure which version caused
this issue.
It is very similar to bug 16682 (http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16682),
but after asking a reopen I was advised to open a new issue.
I have attached a screenshot with an example of corrupted fonts.
I'm available for any further testing. Just let me know what other info you

Indeed, and webbuilder goes a bit further but then it crashes, although it does
it with a cmpl (not a movl) so it might not be the same bug:

Using 1.2rc2, I tried webbuilder5 and SAMSUNG PC Studio PIMS/File Manager and
maybe this bug is fixed since there is no fixme msg for ntdll as for
PhotoStitch (which I could not download).
Webbuilder shows a popup error "The ordinal 6571 could not be located in the
DLL MFC42.DLL." and then exits smoothly.
PIMS crashes with:

I have some doubts about that patch. The surface is supposed to keep a
reference to the palette, so the situation where the palette is destroyed
before the surface is released isn't supposed to happen.

Summary: Steam: after April 25 update, logs in, starts to paint

I have had Steam working for a long time; finished HL2, got almost halfway
through Far Cry and HL2 Episode 1, etc. Steam pushed an update around April
25, 2010, and ever since then, it has crashed after putting up the main Steam
window and partially painting it (mainly the category headings at the top), and
putting up the smaller "news items" window but not painting its contents. The
news items titlebar shows the number of updates (e.g., "1 of 8") before it
crashes; it manages to record which one it displayed, because the next time it
shows one fewer available (e.g., "1 of 7").
There's very little in the console under normal start conditions; it gets
through the CellID connectivity tests, then prints a few error and fixme lines:
err:ole:CoGetClassObject class {77f10cf0-3db5-4966-b520-b7c54fd35ed6} not

at work we use this awful little hour registration program, that connects to a
MS SQL server. as wine progressed, in the end I only needed to install
MDAC28.EXE to get it to work quite well. but then something horrible happened
and it stopped working, with a popup box saying something like 'cannot connect
to MS server'.. I tried several versions of wine, and apparently somewhere
around 1.1.21 it stopped working.
unfortunately, the program is proprietary, but I'd love to provide logs and
such, if I can get some direction. I'll attach a +relay log here, in the hope
it may be useful.

Enable FSAA via nvidia settings (or in game menu if it allows to do so). Start
the game, wait until it enters interactive mode (if there was a movie), then
enter "ROCKETMAN" cheat to easily get a fire image. Fire from jetpack is
surrounded by floating translucent black squares. The same squares are visible
for some types of weather. If the camera gets under water (when diving, etc.),
black screen is shown instead of water image.
In all cases the image is to be just slightly distorted (light refraction
modelling).

fonts such as Arial and Garamond this is blank, although clicking any of the
spaces will insert whatever character should be there. For Liberation fonts
etc. it works correctly.

wined3d: Disable strict draw ordering by default.
While some performance hit from the extra flushes was expected and would be
acceptable, the performance hit can be over 50% on some configurations,
which
clearly isn't acceptable. This patch introduces a "StrictDrawOrdering"
registry key for applications affected by this, until we have a more
structural solution.
