With the wine 1.1.43 with the two reverted patches for the Delphi top level
window minimize and restore the problem looks fixed. I had no problem using the
delphi 1 ide and adding a tmemo to a form or editing tstrings of a memo or

Fresh installation of planescape torment, without tweaking any configuration
still cannot play this game, so I think this bug is not yet closed.
I've tested it on wine 1.1.26, Ubuntu 9.04 and 185.xx NVidia driver, AMD CPU.

This is still an issue with wine 1.1.43. Switching "FullScreen" from 1 to 0 in

Summary: lstrlen is incorrectly implemented in
include/winbase.h
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: timurrrr(a)google.com
Hi.
I've been running Chromium tests under wine under Valgrind (see
http://wiki.winehq.org/Wine_and_Valgrind ) and found an incorrect
implementation of lstrlen in Wine.
According to MSDN, lstrlen should return 0 if the argument is NULL
See http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms647492(VS.85).aspx
In include/winbase.h I found this:
>>>>>>>>>
extern inline INT WINAPI lstrlenW( LPCWSTR str )
{
const WCHAR *s = str;
while (*s) s++;
return s - str;
}
extern inline INT WINAPI lstrlenA( LPCSTR str )
{
return strlen( str );
}
<<<<<<<<<
Both implementations handle the "str=NULL" case incorrectly.
strlen segfaults on Linux if you simply call strlen(NULL).

The mentioned workaround of reducing the frame rate didn't help for me, but
there's also a setting to reduce Game Engine Speed which does reduce the
flickers quite a bit in a recent wine (1.1.43). There are some left but the
game is much more playable.
I'm using AMD 780G chipset graphics and the fglrx 10.4 beta from Ubuntu in
Gentoo (without any fancy optimization flags).

The problem appears in Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction, running on 64-bit ubuntu
10.04 with Nvidia 9500m (driver 195.36.15) in 3d mode (using glide wrapper
0,84c) and 800x600 full-screen resolution.
In the game as well as in the menus, when I move my mouse cursor to the top of
the screen it disappears and then re-appears at the screen bottom. This happens
with compiz on or off, and regardless of my gnome regular resolution.
Setting the Nvidia option [Option "ModeValidation" "NoXServerModes"] in
xorg.conf does not help.
Please let me know if more data is needed.

Right, Wine has no ATI/fglrx support...
http://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git/?a=search&h=HEAD&st=grep&s=fglrx&sr=1http://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git/?a=search&h=HEAD&st=grep&s=+ATI+&sr=1
Wine's graphics code is very complex, and ATI's broken drivers (getting better
finally) don't make it any easier. If you'd like to help, please send patches,
but complaining on bugzilla won't help anyone.

This bug was fixed in 2006. If you have a problem 4 years later, you need to
file a new bug. It would be worth retesting with current git before filing the
bug though.

Summary: wineserver: massive amount of rescheduling interupts /

wine32 / wine64 )
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.43
Platform: All
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: wineserver
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: djamu(a)hotmail.com
Created an attachment (id=27570)
--> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=27570)
memory usage vs CPU load from 2.1GB to 1.7GB RAM
Wineserver creates a massive amount of rescheduling interupts / context
switching when using + 1.8GB RAM application load, both on Wine32 and the
Wine64 versions ( meaning the 64 bit Wine, not the 32 bit for 64bit systems )
The rescheduling becomes very apparant when going over 2GB RAM usage, and will
effectively hog down an SMP processor to a crawl.
For a long time I've been using Wine to succesfully run various brands of
renderers ( Lightwave / Maya / Fryrender / Maxwell ... )
The problem exists already for a long time, but became very apparant when I
recently switched (compiled) to Wine64 because of a big project. ( Previous
projects never needed the amount of ram needed for the current one )
Reverting back to Wine32 bit ( which should run fine as long as I stay under
4GB ) showed me the exact same slow down, except that on wine32 "top" for some
reason doesn't show visually wineserver consuming a lot of resources ( only
visible on Wine64 )
... nevertheless the amount of rescheduling interupts and context switches
skyrocket at exact the same loads for both versions.
This behaviour is visible on various ( CLI based ) multithreaded renderers
which makes me confident in believing it is not related to a renderer specific
DLL.
I would flag this bug as major as in quite a short while other applications /
games will encounter the same issue.
I know a fair share of programming and can do some debugging, but I'm not very
familiar with all the Wine components / not sure what logs / graphs I should
submit ( I've got quite a few ).
Any debug commands to pinpoint the problem are usefull too.
The added graph shows the CPU load/interupts whith variable memory usage from
+2.1GB to +1.7GB on a compute node > the lower the memory usage, the higher the
CPU load. ( ignore the halted state between 8.30PM/5AM )
Thx

Cut the chatter, please. It just makes it hard for anyone who wants to work on
this bug to sort out the useful information (Comment #111) from the rest
(everything else on this bug).
The reason this hasn't been fixed yet is that, while ddraw in exclusive mode on
Windows will happily draw directly to the screen, this has negative
consequences that we don't want in Wine. It won't work when a compositing
window manager is being used. Even without a compositing window manager, any UI
drawn by another program (such as the window you see when you press alt+tab)
will be drawn over by any fullscreen ddraw program. Alexandre has made the
decision that being a good X citizen, and thus avoiding this sort of problem,
is more important than being fully correct.
I think that if someone can find a way to allow ddraw to draw over any Wine
window, but not just any X window, (without hurting performance too much) then
we could avoid the problems with drawing to the screen, and that change would
have a chance of being accepted. I don't know how we could do that, though.

Confirmed as well...tip if you want to lock the mouse to the window play with
the controls at the top, the one that looks like an arrow (or the starcraft
mouse cursor) allows you to lock the mouse to the windowed mode, unless that
option is not working should be fine for you.
I will also donate 20 Eur via Paypal to the coder... the only reason I havent
fully dumped gwindows is because of Starcraft. I am not a hardcore gamer but I
must keep windows around cause I love to play broodwar and I hate to play in
window mode. xD

hey folks, anybody out there using gentoo and being familiar with creating
ebuilds (cuz the latter I'm not)?
whould be nice to have an ebuild that can patch wine to the wine-kane version
(http://www.compholio.com/wine-kane/), maybe even with the choice of a
"winekane" use flag or so.
i'm not quite sure whether this would fix similar issues with other multiplayer
games, anyway.
however, I would greatly appreciate such an ebuild (or even overlay) :)

I think this bug also affects Total Commander:
- Start Total Commander 7.50a NOT REGISTERED, notice the main window, and a
"This program is Shareware" window.
- Click the title bar of a different application, for example gedit.
- Click the proper 1/2/3 button to close the "This program is Shareware"
window, notice the gedit window is focused, instead of the main TC window.

Ubuntu 9.10 64

comment #120 confirmed. it looks like this thing creates it's own window then
puts starcraft in or on top of it? Everything renders just about perfectly.
Kind of annoying playing with this though, because the mouse doesn't get locked
into the screen.

Summary: _XReply: Assertion `!dpy->xcb->reply_data' failed.
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.43
Platform: x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: opengl
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: wanderer(a)fastmail.fm
I recently upgraded libxcb from version 1.1-1.2 to 1.5-3 (Debian package
versions). Now, when I attempt to launch World of Warcraft in Wine, I get the
following output:
../../src/xcb_io.c:445: _XReply: Assertion `!dpy->xcb->reply_data' failed.
err:module:attach_process_dlls "opengl32.dll" failed to initialize, aborting
err:module:LdrInitializeThunk Main exe initialization for L"C:\\Program
Files\\World of Warcraft\\Wow.exe" failed, status 80000101
I first saw this error with a version of Wine which I had been successfully
using for some time - IIRC, it was 1.1.41, compiled from a git revision I don't
recall. I have updated to the latest git version of Wine
(wine-1.1.43-249-g033bb8a, commit 033bb8a2f9bd57000e64d5566f1b52a1cdf3f730) and
recompiled, and the error persists. For what it is worth, I am running on an
x86_64 system, but I have been able to use Wine without problems (aside from a
peculiar lack of certain audio-output options) on this system for some time.
>From what I can find online, this is an issue with many applications which use
xcb, and it is allegedly not an xcb bug but an application locking bug. It has
been reported with OpenOffice, fglrxinfo, and various other programs; however,
I am able to run all of those programs without errors. (I suspect that the bug
may have been fixed in those programs.)
It is perhaps worth noting that every report of the problem which I have seen
which mentioned video drivers came from someone who was using fglrx; I am also
using fglrx, and had installed updated drivers along with the updated libxcb.
However, since non-Wine OpenGL programs (such as fglrxinfo itself and glxgears)
run for me without error, I suspect that the problem is in Wine rather than in
fglrx.
I suspect that the problem would occur in other OpenGL programs run under Wine;
however, the only such program to which I have immediate access is World of
Warcraft itself. If the problem does in fact occur in other programs, then this
bug should quite possibly be marked "major" instead of "normal" severity; I am
leaving it as "normal" because I cannot currently confirm the failure with any
other programs.
In some of the reports of this bug from other programs, it is claimed that
downgrading libxcb makes the problem go away
(http://forum.tuxx-home.at/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=565 being the best explanation
I've found). However, I am not presently in a position to do so, as the package
dependencies involved mean it would require downgrading Thunderbird from 3.x to
2.x, which is a nontrivial proposition.
I am aware that this is not remotely enough information to identify and fix the
actual problem. I am quite willing to do almost any tests which might be asked
for; just let me know what to do and what information to provide.

If you compile wine with '-mfpmath=sse' in CFLAGS and CXXFLAGS, games such as
Dungeons and Dragons Online (free-to-play, but not open source, so somewhat
easy to test with), Lord of the Rings Online, and EVE Online all segfault when
trying to load.
Running a basic command such as `wine iexplore` does not segfault.
I did not get any debugging information when I tried this, sorry. Removing
'-mfpmath=sse' and recompiling WINE (used WINE 1.1.43, GCC 4.4.3, GNU LibC
2.11.1) removes the segfaults. Note that '-mfpmath=sse' is enabled by default

I'm also experiencing this same bug and I'm using wine version 1.1.42. It works
fine if I follow the hint in an earlier post and start the game with debugging
enabled: WINEDEBUG=+ddraw wine Orion95.exe
But starting the game normally causes it to freeze when trying to navigate away
from the first menu screen.

Obviously there's no guarantee about the state of such a context. The

problem is that it might have GL_UNPACK_CLIENT_STORAGE_APPLE enabled,
causing
some glTexImage2D() calls to fail, but it's a bad idea in general.

I am running openSuSE 11.2 with Wine-1.1.42 and use the PortableApps off of a

such as Firefox or Thunderbird, also running under Wine, that the processes for
Thunderbird, Firefox, PortableApps, and Wineserver are leaving files open and
not properly closing them (Observed with lsof /media/My\ Passport after closing
the apps) This in turn prevents the disk drive from being able to be dismounted
and forces me to kill the associated processes. Of course that is dangerous and
can lead to file corruption.
>From my observations, this is only happening when running an app under Wine,
when the app is executed from a dynamically mounted device. It does not occur
when the app is executed from a permanently mounted disk drive...

Summary: La-Mulana: certain (graphical) events in game cause
severe slowdown and glitches
Product: Wine
Version: 1.0.0
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: directx-ddraw
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: lord_nightmare(a)users.sf.net
During certain events in the game (usually but not always associated with a
graphical 'sprite' such as the main player character with a transparent
background color itself being masked by another 'tile' such as a doorway), the
graphical rendering thread (but not the music thread) of the game slows down to
an unplayable speed until the effect is over.
Also during this time, the transparent color of the 'sprite' may or may not
become 'glitched' and replaced with a dark grey color. Once this latter glitch
occurs, it remains so for all transparent sprites until the game is quit and
restarted. Other glitches then occur while this 'glitch' is active.
This happens with all builtin dlls, except dmime set to native but not supplied
(i.e. game has no music) and also occurs with native dmusic dlls (game has
music); I have not tried running the game with other (directdraw) related dlls
native.
Events which trigger slowdown:
*Player going through any doorway (usually triggers glitching, especially
xelpud's tent right at the very beginning of the game)
*Player reading any sign or examining anything which produces the blue text
window (only slight slowdown here, usually does not trigger glitching)
*Background fade-out during appearance of any boss
*Fighting the first boss 'Amphisbaena' (this slowdown happens during the entire
fight once the boss has fully emerged (and breathes fire) a few seconds after
the background fade, until it is beaten)
*Fighting at least one of the later bosses <will fill in name when I find which
one>
'glitches' which USUALLY happen once the slowdown has occurred, but NEVER
before:
*The selected main and subweapon red and green bordered boxes on the item
subscreen (press f2) are no longer transparent (they have a grey center which
obscures the selected items)
*The 'quit?' window which pops up when you hit ESC will have a transparent
background and not update properly when yes or no are selected (ends up with
everything new drawn on top of the older stuff)
*The status bar with the number of secondary-weapon-ammo/weights/coins/etc will
not update numeric values properly (new numbers drawn on top of older ones
instead of replacing them)
*When entering shops (and xelpud's tent) the previous area background will not
be cleared
*The "MSX" window you get when hitting F4 (with no "roms" inserted on the f3
screen which change it) has no visible text.
La-Mulana is freeware and can be obtained from
http://lamulana.super-turbo.net/LA-MULANA.zip
The japanese to english translation patch inside that .zip file works fine in
wine.

I cannot reproduce the bug. I used this MP3 file which has both ID3v1 and ID3v2
tag types: http://www.robtowns.com/music/wayfaring_stranger.mp3
- Installed http://www.oldversion.com/download_Foobar2000_0.9.1.html
- Right click on MP3 track, Properties, Add new, DISCNUMBER=1, OK, Update file
- The TPOS element seems to be written correctly:
$ xxd -l 128 /tmp/wayfaring_stranger_091.mp3

it on my HDD).
- Right click on MP3 track, Properties, entered Disc Number: 1
- The TPOS element is written the same as it is written on XP, same foobar2000

Ow another thing you have to do the get the performance in red alert 2 and
Tiberian Sun (in the not 1.0 versions), is to set the os to win98 or win95, not
winxp(what is set as standard).

I also used the http://www.commandandconquer.com/classic. But i use a Mac
Nvidia 9400M Snowleopard 10.6.3. I also experience the same problems with the
slowdown. With newer releases of wine like 1.1.40 it is some faster in the
start, but will slow down when the game actuelly start.
The Free download is the same as i can see as the first decade version.
I side thing. If you use the 1.0 version (2 cd version) there the issue is not
there. I tried that a year ago. But i dont own the 2 cd version. and there the
registerkeys (performance trick) does work, and in the new free version it wont
because its another version (not 1.0) the same thing for red alert 2. The 1.0
version has no problems but tyhe first decade version (which is 1.3?) is broken
in perforance (stotter and slower). The stotter can be fixed bij register
OffscreenRenderingMode=backbuffer, but the slowness stays with my macbook.
Maybe with a faster machine it go`s better. So its a known issue that with C&C
tiberian sun and Red alert 2 + Yuri revenge have the same problem. All those
issues appear in never versions (Not Version 1.0).

It is the only annoying bug that affects all Civilization 4 versions and mods

"playable".

Many people use this computer, and it would be good if they could use Spotify

Wine 1.1.43 is a bit slower in many systems, try Wine 1.1.25 great performance.
The patch has nothing to do with performance.

I have applied the patch to wine 1.1.43 and installed and ran NFS Most Wanted,
I had no more crashes and everything worked as it should!
So, great patch and performance was fine.
Thanks a million! I can finally play my favourite game under Linux!

i have found out some people are havining an issue with camfrog running on
Linux operating systems, as i am with out XP for 3 weeks i took the libraty of
finding out why.
on my face book
(link is http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=174165&id=560982110&l=4c665eec73
)
i have taken photos of the OS runnining Camfrog and written out the issues that
are hapenining
i am usining zorin 2.0 (ubuntu based)
Wines Used are
1.0.1
1.1.31
1.1.41
and when the wines failed i used virtual box 3.0.8 but was laggie virtual box
dose not alow for mic pick up from the linux but you can hear people and enter
rooms, just with out mic and with out cam, so i was plannining on going into
learning more about the wine to attemt to work this out.
i was wonderining if there was any oppions on this matter or if there is a
better suited wine that would enable me to use camfrog on Linux or if there is
a better version of Linux that i should be usining with wine
main issues are it Freezes up and grays out when attmptining to go into the
chat rooms so there for its the Visual side of the cam that the wine is not
allowing the compatibility for webcam, reason i am guessining this is if you go
into camfrog settings, it alows you to change any settinings apart from the cam
and the audio settings when you do go to change the cam and audio settinings it
just freezes out as stated before,
no bug error is apearining upon the closining of the program but i am new to
linux and wine so if it is an enternal bugg error i wont know where to look.
if you could give me some tips of where to look for the errors i will find them
but if you could please help fix this program as i know many that cant do what
i have done,
i help this report helps people that are also havining camfrog issues

Hello Claudio,
When i want to patch wine 1.1.39 with your patch, it's impossible because i
have this error message : http://pastebin.com/yGis88BE
I don't understand because i rename your file patch -> war.patch and i apply it
in wine source thanks to this command : patch -p0 < war.patch
Thanks you for your help and sorry for my english, i'm french.

Filed the need for 3d3x9 as bug 22393.
So the only remaining part of this bug is that 3dmark06 reports we don't
have shader 2.0 support, right?

Filed the systeminfo crash as bug 22392.
Passing -nosysteminfo (single dash!) bypasses it on 3dmark06 for me,
but not on 3dmark03 (which is strange, it's a widely mentioned option,
and the nosysteminfo string is in the exe). Perhaps they broke it in
the 2010 release of 3dmark03.
The only thing in the current free version of 3dmark06 that appears to
be enabled is the 'demo' button, and to get that to work, I have to
do 'winetricks d3dx9' to avoid the error dialog
"D3DXGetImageInfoFromFileInMemory failed: Invalid data (D3DXERR_INVALIDDATA)".
(winetricks d3dx9_36 isn't quite sufficient, it gets past that
dialog, but crashes shortly thereafter).

Subject states "crashes", but the crash does not have nothing to do with
message "...Pixel Shader 2.0 (or higher)...". To bypass the crash, run
wine 3DMark06.exe --nosysteminfo
So the crash has something to do with getting HW info. With this command it
stills complain about Shader2.0, but click OK and application continues.
So this should be separated into two bug reports.

In The Games Factory 2 (demo) you can't drag-n-drop an object to the active
worktable. Tested with both Wine-1.1.41 and the latest git
(wine-1.1.41-434-gfbaaedd).
Howto reproduce the bug:
1. Start the demo
2. Click on View > Toolbars > enable Library window
3. Create a new application: Ctrl+N
4. Open the frame editor (double-click on Frame 1)
5. From the Local Library window (bottom-left panel), choose any of the
available libraries and try to drag-n-drop any of the items to Frame 1 >> it
fails (cursor shows a circle with a diagonal line)

wine output after switching virtual desktops
I have been using Dragon Age: Origins under wine since version 1.1.33. After
upgrading from 1.1.40 to 1.1.41, the game now fails to start at least nine
times out of ten. The launcher program starts, and when I click Play, the
splash image appears in the center of my screen, but it doesn't go away and the
opening EA / BioWare movie never plays. If I then switch to another virtual
desktop and back again, I find the splash image has disappeared and wine has
produced error output (which I will attach to this bug report).
I used git bisect to narrow down the regression. Here's the output from the
final step:

Updating a texture while it is attached to the currently bound FBO is
something GL implementations tend to get wrong. NVIDIA fails at

what
happens on OS X. Fortunately we never use glTexImage2D() while a texture is
attached to an FBO, so we only need to care about glTexSubImage2D().

There ARE other minor errors relating to network code, but as the program
connects to the steam network these don't seem particularly relevant at this
time.
Also worth noting: the font on the notification applet steam icon menu (and
presumably all steam menus) fails to draw. This can be fixed by changing

/steam/resource/styles/steam.styles

I rescind my last statement that it only worked 'once', it was a buggy shortcut

By setting compatibility mode to 'WinNT 4.0' I can reliably start the patched

that.

Applying the patch hasn't had an effect, still crashes the same way in usually
the same amount of time.

Summary: Mashed InstallShield installer fails during
preparation
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.35
Platform: x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P3
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: mycroes(a)gmail.com
When installing Mashed: drive to survive the installer will stop while actually
loading the installer itself, but after a language selection dialog. It will
show the following error in a messagebox:
"An installation support file
'C:\windows\temp\{2EC1A4D5-4217-4ABF-A783-3706EE405716}\isrt.dll' could not be
installed. (0x80070002)".
The wine output contains the following repeated message:
"err:ole:marshal_object object doesn't expose interface
{be6115a1-7de5-48dc-ad2a-25060e00fce2}, failing with error 0x80004002
err:ole:ClientIdentity_QueryMultipleInterfaces IRemUnknown_RemQueryInterface
failed with error 0x80004002", before that there's just a few fixmes.
The game uses an InstallShield Wizard. I used a clean wineprefix, without
anythin from WineTricks.

Terminal output
HTML-Kit [292] produces a splash screen as it starts up, which is supposed to
stay above other windows. Instead, it has a tendency to appear behind other
windows, and even when this doesn't happen, it doesn't persistently stay on
top. (The former problem seems most consistent when leaving "select additional
features and start HTML-Kit" checked in the installer, then clicking "open
HTML-Kit" in the window that pops up.)
I tested it in some older releases, and it worked correctly back in 0.9.33.

I have tested this patched WINE to test NFS Underground.
Same result is also here no crash, but the game runs very very slow.
Then, tested the game with standard WINE version 1.1.32, but here the game is
being running in normal speed.
To run NFS Underground, I have to use native dinput8.dll.

Tested against latest WINE version 1.1.42
System: Duo Core 2.4 GHz
3 GB RAM
Ubuntu 9.10
Intel 4500M Graphics
Intel x.org driver 2.10
Mesa3D 7.7.1
Linux kernel 2.32.9
There is no more crash on NFS Carbon (Demo) with this patch applied.
The game is in nice working condition.
Thank you very very much for your great work.
This is a surprise how only two line of code ( I mean patch ) turned a game
from death to alive.
Is there any possibility of this patch to mainline WINE tree?

I had to downgrade to 1.1.39 in order to install ModelSim (due to bug #22066)

Fallout 3 (Steam) (exits before launcher)

Hi All,
The is major as it is messing the crap out of my file system.
I am using Lotus Word Pro N9.8.0208.1200. When I create a symbolic link on my
desktop to a document and use the link to open the document, saving the file
overwrites the link with the actual document. This problem can not be
reproduced with Notepad.exe
To reproduce:
1) open word pro and create a document. Save the document to anywhere but
~/Desktop. For instance ~/eraseme.lwp
2) in your Desktop, create a symbolic link to the document you just created.
For instance ln -s ~/eraseme.lwp ~/Desktop/.
3) open the new link on your desktop
4) make a change to the document and save it back. Exit the document.
5) Check the link on you desktop. It will be replaced with the actual
document. And now you have two document of the same name with different
revisions in different directories.
I would really appreciate it if you would fix this asap!
Many thanks,
-T

Summary: spawnl(P_WAIT, "...") and system() do not wait if a

Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Platform: x86

Status: UNCONFIRMED

Sample program:
#include <stdio.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
int main(int argc, char **argv)
{
int i;
if (argc == 2)
system (argv[1]);
for (i = 0; i < 10000; i++)
puts (argc == 2 ? "a" : "b");
}
Compile it for both Windows and Linux:
gcc test.c
i686-pc-mingw32-gcc test.c
Now, running a Windows child process will correctly wait for the child process
to finish:
$ ./a.exe ./a.exe |uniq
b
a
Instead, Wine will not wait for a Linux child process to finish:
$ ./a.exe ./a.out |uniq
a
b

I _think_ i can work around the bug by wrapping the Unix program with a wrapper
that links to libwine, but I am not yet sure.

I see this problem with Wine 1.1.42. I don't know if it's a problem with Wine,
GNOME, the windows application Spotify (see attachment above) or a combination
of two or more of them.
Spotify is the green icon to the left. None of the other (native linux
applications') icons displays this behavior.
